SRINAGAR: An officer of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) lost his life after he fell from a cliff during an operational area domination patrol in the village of Sunderbani in the Rajouri district.
The deceased Inspector has been identified as Sunil Kumar (37), a resident of Patna and belonged to CRPF 122 Battalion. He was part of CRPF companies that have been deployed as an additional force in Rajouri and Poonch districts after the January 1 Dhangri attack, an official said.
He said that during the operational duty and long-range patrol in Mohra Larya of Bhajwal village in Sunderbani, the officer slipped from the cliff and fell into a gorge.
He was taken out of the gorge and rushed to sub-district hospital Sunderbani by other CRPF and police personnel but was declared brought dead.
The body of the deceased has been kept in civil hospital Sunderbani for medico-legal formalities and police have started legal proceedings into the matter—(KNO)

Hyderabad: The Principle Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases convicted and sentenced a police sub-inspector to two years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 in a graft case.
The convicted police officer Avula Prasad, while working as a sub-inspector of Abids police station demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from one person.
He was trapped red-handed while accepting the bribe on 21 April 2013.
After trial, the court convicted and sentenced him to imprisonment on Friday.

Hyderabad: The sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau caught a revenue inspector of Shankarampet mandal Medak and a village revenue assistant when they accepted an amount of Rs. 1 lakh from a person for doing official work.
The accused officer revenue inspector Nelli Srihari had demanded the bribe amount from a man P Srinivas for having processed and done the work of correction in patta passbook.
The amount was accepted through village revenue assistant G Talari Suresh Babu of Chandampet village Shankarampet mandal.
On a complaint from Srinivas, the ACB laid a trap and caught them red handed.
Both the persons are being produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases Hyderabad.
