    2 army soldiers killed, officer among 4 injured in ongoing Rajouri encounter

    Srinagar, May 05 :  Two army soldiers were killed while four personnel including an officer were injured after militants triggered an explosive during the ongoing encounter in Kandi area of Rajouri district on Friday, Army said.

    In a statement, issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a defence spokesperson said that Army columns have been conducting relentless intelligence based operations to flush out a group of militants involved in ambush on an army truck in Tota Gali area of Bhata Dhurian in Jammu region.

    The statement reads that on specific information about presence of militants in the Kandi Forest in Rajauri Sector, a joint operation was launched on 03 May 2023.

    “At about 0730 hours today, a search team established contact with a group of militants well entrenched in a cave. The area is thickly vegetated with rocky and steep cliffs,” it reads.

    Army said that the militants triggered an explosive device in retaliation. “The Army team has suffered two fatal casualties with injuries to four more soldiers including an officer.”

    As per the statement that additional teams from the vicinity have been directed to the site of encounter. “The injured personnel have been evacuated to Command Hospital, Udhampur.”

    It added as per initial reports a group of militants are trapped in the area. “There is a likelihood of casualties in the militant group.”

    Army said that the operation is in progress and further details are being ascertained—(KNO)

    SRINAGAR: Suspected militants on Thursday evening fired upon security forces in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

    Quoting an official, GNS reported that militants fired some rounds towards a naka party in Bijbhera area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

    In this incident, one policeman received minor injuries. He has been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

    Soon after the attack, the whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers

    SRINAGAR: An aviation technician was killed, and two pilots were injured after an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv with three people on board crashed following a “hard landing” in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Thursday.

    “At around 11.15 am, an Army Aviation ALH Dhruv helicopter on an operational mission made a precautionary landing on the banks of the Marua River in the Kishtwar region of Jammu and Kashmir,” the Udhampur-based Northern Command said in a statement.

    According to initial reports, the pilots had reported a technical fault to the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) and proceeded for a precautionary landing.

    “Due to the undulating ground, undergrowth, and unprepared landing area, the helicopter apparently made a ‘hard landing’,” the officials said, adding that immediate rescue operations were launched, and Army rescue teams reached the site.

    “Two pilots and a technician were on board. All three injured personnel have been evacuated to the Command Hospital, Udhampur,” the official said.

    The officials further added that aviation technician CFN (Avn Tech) Pabballa Anil succumbed to injuries during treatment.

    “(Avn Tech) Pabballa Anil, 30, belongs to Village Malkapur, Rajanna Sircilla, Telangana,” the officer added.

    Meanwhile, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Army Commander Northern Command, and All Ranks Northern Command offer tribute to the supreme sacrifice of CFN (Avn Tech) Pabballa Anil in the line of duty during Operational flying of ALH MK III near Kishtwar, Jammu, and Kashmir.

    A court of inquiry has been ordered, and further details are being ascertained, the Army said in a statement. (KNO)

    Kishtwar, May 4: An Aviation technician, among the three members on board a helicopter witnessing a crash in Kishtwar Thursday afternoon, has succumbed to his injuries, official sources said.

    They told GNS that the Aviation Technician Pabballa Anil was evacuated from the site of crash alongside the two pilots to Command Hospital Udhampur. “The injured technician succumbed shortly after”, they said adding the two pilots are safe and are responding well to the treatment.

    Earlier in a statement, a defence spokesperson said that three army personnel, including two pilots and a technician, sustained injuries after a helicopter they were on board apparently made a rough landing along the banks of Marua river in Kishtwar region this morning.

    “At about 1115 hours on 04 May 2023, an Army Aviation ALH Dhruv helicopter on an operational mission made a precautionary landing on the banks of Marua river in the Kishtwar region of Jammu and Kashmir.     SRINAGAR: A youth was injured on Wednesday after being stabbed in the Marhama area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

    According to an official, the victim has been identified as Adil Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Amin Bhat and a resident of Khalpora Marhama, who was attacked with a knife in his native area.

    The official further added that Adil sustained chest injuries and was subsequently shifted to the hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable.

    Sources revealed that the police have taken cognizance of the incident and identified the attacker. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the culprit. (KNO)

    NTR: At least 20 people were injured on Wednesday after a Telangana Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus rear-ended a lorry on the National Highway in Jaggaiyapet mandal of Andhra Pradesh’s NTR district, officials said.

    A total of 42 persons were on the bus that was on its way to Hyderabad from Vijayawada.

    Upon receiving information about the accident, efforts began to take out the passengers. Rescuers also put in much effort to pull out the driver of the bus who got stuck inside the vehicle.

    Three people sustained serious injuries, police said.

    Meanwhile, a recklessly driven crane hit two bikes in which four persons, including three minors, died and one woman sustained injuries in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district, a police official said on Tuesday.

    The accident occurred in the Banganga area in the city last evening while the crane was moving downwards on the Banganga bridge. After crushing the bikes, the crane collided with a bus and stopped. The whole incident was also captured in the CCTV installed on the roadside.

    In April, four people died while 22 others sustained injuries in an accident”>road accident on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway near the Narhe area of Pune city. The collision took place between a truck and a private bus on the Highway.

    SRINAGAR:  At least seven persons were injured after stray dogs attacked them in Minzgam Boniyar area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

    Reports said that a pack of stray dogs attacked and injuring at least seven persons including two childrens. They have been evacuated to GMC Baramulla for treatment.
