  • JK Government Increases DA For Employees Under Seventh Pay Commission

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday issued a new order regarding the payment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to its employees. According to the government order, all regular government employees under the 7th Pay Commission will now be eligible for an increased DA of 42% of their basic pay, effective from January 1, 2023. This revised rate is a 4% increase from the previous rate of 38% of the basic pay.

First, let’s understand what Dearness Allowance is. It is an allowance given by the government to its employees to offset the impact of inflation and rising prices of goods and services. Essentially, it’s a way to help employees keep up with the cost of living. The amount of DA varies from state to state and is calculated as a percentage of the employee’s basic pay.

So, what does this mean for the employees? Suppose an employee’s basic pay is Rs. 20,000. Under the old rate of 38%, they would receive a DA of Rs. 7,600 (38% of Rs. 20,000). But with the new rate of 42%, they will receive a DA of Rs. 8,400 (42% of Rs. 20,000). This extra money will help the employees cope with the increased expenses due to inflation and rising costs of living.

The order also specifies that the term ‘Basic Pay’ in the revised pay structure means the pay drawn in the prescribed level in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, excluding any other type of pay like special pay. This means that only the regular salary of the employees will be taken into consideration while calculating the DA.

Additionally, the order mentions that the arrears on account of the additional instalment of DA with effect from January 2023 shall be paid in cash in the month of May 2023 and shall form a part of salary from May 2023 onwards. This means that the employees will receive the extra money they were supposed to get from January 2023 in May 2023, along with their regular salary.

The order also states that the payment on account of Dearness Allowance involving fractions of 50 paisa and above may be rounded to the next higher rupee, while the fractions of less than 50 paisa shall be ignored. This means that if the extra money the employees are supposed to receive is more than 50 paisa, it will be rounded up to the nearest rupee, and if it’s less than 50 paisa, it will be ignored.

The order was issued by the General Administration Department under the file number GAD-CORD/113/2021-09-GAD, and the Government Order No: 93-F of 2023.

LIC increases holdings in Adani stocks despite Hindenburg controversy

    [ad_1]

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), one of the investors in the Indian stock market, has increased its stake in four Adani Group companies despite the Hindenburg controversy that dragged down Adani stock prices.

In the March quarter, LIC acquired 357,500 shares of Adani Enterprises, thereby increasing its share in the company from 4.23 percent in the previous quarter to 4.26 percent. The PSU insurer also raised its stakes in Adani Transmission (from 3.65 percent to 3.68 percent), Adani Green (from 1.28 percent to 1.36 percent), and Adani Total Gas (from 5.96 percent to 6.02 percent) during the quarter.

However, LIC reduced its stake in Adani Ports and Ambuja Cements. There was no change in LIC’s stake in ACC. It is not clear whether the share transactions took place before or after the release of the Hindenburg report.

Small retail investors showing trust in Adani Enterprises stocks

While some institutional investors are reducing their exposure to Adani stocks, small retail investors are showing trust in Adani Enterprises. The percentage of the company’s shares held by them increased from 1.86 percent to 3.41 percent.

On the other hand, the number of mutual funds investing in Adani Group companies has decreased from 31 to 27. The mutual funds’ investment in the Adani company also reduced.

Amid controversy, Adani Group has struck a deal worth Rs 15,000 crore with US-based GQG Partners. Adani Enterprises is one of the four companies in which the promoters have pared their stake.

    Adani’s net worth increases

As of today, six Adani Group companies were trading in the green, with Adani Enterprises’ share price increasing by 2.10 percent.

Gautam Adani, whose net worth dipped significantly over the past month, has begun to climb up again, making him one of the top 25 richest persons in the world’s billionaire list following the surge in stock values.

The businessman, who recently slipped out of the world’s top 35 billionaires list, is slowly climbing up in the rankings.

With a current net worth of USD 47.1 billion, he is in the 24th position on the list.

Following LIC’s increased stake in Adani Group companies, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge started asking questions that why the public sector financial giant has increased stakes in the group despite the Hindenburg controversy.

  • Real estate in Hyderabad: Demand-supply mismatch increases property rates

Real estate in Hyderabad: Demand-supply mismatch increases property rates

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Real estate in Hyderabad has witnessed a significant increase in property rates due to a demand-supply mismatch, according to the Magicbricks PropIndex Report (January – March) 2023. The report revealed that residential demand in Hyderabad grew by 6% QoQ while supply decreased by 14.2% QoQ, resulting in a 5.8% QoQ increase in property rates. The localities of Gachibowli, Miyapur, and Kondapur in western Hyderabad experienced the highest residential demand due to their proximity to the Nehru ORR and major employment hubs.

The demand for mid-segment properties (Rs 5000-7000 per square feet) has been increasing, accounting for approximately 50% of the demand and supply in the city. With a continued preference for spacious homes, 2 and 3BHKs commanded 90 percent of the total demand in the city.

Elaborating on the trends, Sudhir Pai, CEO of Magicbricks commented, “Several multilateral agencies have projected that the Indian economy will grow by 6-7% in FY’ 23, despite the global slowdown. The recent Union Budget has also introduced several encouraging initiatives, including substantial allocations to PMAY and UIDF, which have set the wheels in motion for facilitating employment opportunities and infrastructure development. Given the under-served demand for home-ownership in the affordable and mid-range segment, we are optimistic about the growth trajectory for residential demand in the coming quarters as well. We anticipate that the market will stabilise, supplemented by new projects and expedited delivery of under-construction properties, which will open up new avenues for investment and innovation.”

    MS Education Academy

The report also highlighted that Mehdipatnam (4.27%), Police Colony- Kondapur (3.96%), and Balanagar (3.75%) experienced the highest increase in prices QoQ, while prices in Banjara Hills (-3.94%), Boduppal (-3.77%), and Nanakram Guda (-3.39%) decreased QoQ.

  • Canada’s GDP increases in January

    Canada’s GDP increases in January

    [ad_1]

Ottawa: Canada’s real gross domestic product (GDP) by industry increased 0.3 per cent in January, the national statistical agency said.

Statistics Canada said on Tuesday that increases in the mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction, wholesale trade, professional, scientific and technical services, and transportation and warehousing sectors were slightly offset by decreases in construction and retail trade, reports Xinhua news agency.

Real GDP by industry edged down 0.1 per cent in December 2022, following a 0.1 per cent uptick in November.

Goods-producing industries declined, while service-producing industries remained essentially unchanged, the statistical agency said, updating its December data.

According to Statistics Canada, GDP data showed that growth in the Canadian economy decelerated for a second straight quarter, edging up 0.2 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2022, the slowest pace of growth since the second quarter of 2021.

Services-producing industries rose 0.5 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2022, up for a sixth consecutive quarter, while goods-producing industries contracted 0.6 per cent in the fourth quarter.

Statistics Canada also updated the country’s GDP growth in 2022 to 3.6 per cent from its previous estimate of 3.8 per cent.

Despite the interest rate hike impact, the removal of Covid-related restrictions, the presence of favourable farming conditions, and subsiding supply-chain issues and semiconductor shortages supported growth in 2022 and the annual economic activity exceeded its 2019 pre-pandemic level, said Statistics Canada.

  • Vitro’s operating flow increases 178%

    [ad_1]

MONTERREY, NL 27-Feb-2023 .- Vitro reported this Monday that its operating flow increased to 85 million dollars in the fourth quarter of 2022, compared to the 31 million of the previous yearwhich meant a rise of 178.4 percent.

According to his report, this result was mainly due to a greater Demand for Flat Glass products and Glass containersan increase in the price due to inflationary pressures and a better product mix, which was partially offset by a higher cost of transportation, raw materials, packaging, labor and energy.

    We recommend you read:

In the quarter ended last December, the Vitro consolidated net sales went up 16.5 percent year against year, to $596 milliondriven in part by better performance in the segment of flat glass.

He specified that the flat glass sales they grew up 20.8 percentcompared to the fourth quarter of 2021, due to an increase in sales of the segments Architectural and Automotive in most of the geographies in which Vitro participates.

    We recommend you read:

“The Architectural business increased its Sales mainly in the United States due to greater growth in the demand for value-added glass for the specialty and commercial markets. automotive increased their sales in 4Q22 compared to 4Q21 mainly due to higher sales of laminated and tempered glass to original equipment manufacturers in Mexico, United States and Europepartially offset by a drop in sales to the aftermarket industry,” it detailed in its report.

The packaging salesmeanwhile, remained relatively stable with a marginal negative year-on-year variation year of -0.9 percentdue to a decrease in sales of the Machine Manufacturing businesswhich was partially offset by the increase in Sales of Glass Containers to value-added industries perfumes, cosmetics and liquors.

Vitro also said that the chemical sales presented an advance of 3.9 percent in the fourth quarter of 2022, due to higher sales of sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate and sodium chloride due to the growth in the national market, as well as the greater availability of products and better price mix.

However, he noted that this was partially offset by a decrease in the calcium chloride sale due to a decrease in the availability of transport that limited the commercialization of our product in the United States.

In the quarter, Vitro achieved a net profit of 6 million dollars, against the loss of 93 million registered between October and December 2021.

“In the fourth quarter of 2022, we had positive organic growth from our businesses in nearly every country in the world in which we operate despite a turbulent environment due to inflationary pressures and an announced recession. During the quarter, we saw continuity in the efficient operation of businesses with strong sales activity mainly from Flat Glass and Glass Containers businessmaintaining the momentum towards 2023″, commented Adrián Sada Cueva, General Director of Vitro.
