Focus is on future: Rajasthan Congress in-charge on Gehlot-Sachin tussle

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: The Congress’ Rajasthan in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Saturday said he does not want to “carry too much of the past” and the focus should be on the future, virtually rebuffing party leader Sachin Pilot who had questioned the delay in action over a parallel meeting by the Gehlot camp in September in defiance of the central leadership.

Amid continuing rumblings in the state unit, Pilot called on AICC representatives and other leaders to go among the people ad workers on the ground and “understand their feelings” as the assembly elections inch closer.

A Congress Legislature Party meeting was called on September 25 last year at Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s residence regarding a change in leadership but it could not take place as MLAs loyal to the chief minister called a parallel meeting and submitted their resignations against any move to appoint Pilot as chief minister.

    MS Education Academy

On April 23, Pilot referred to the September 25 incident and said it was an open violation of the orders of the then Congress president Sonia Gandhi. “Mallikarjun Kharge and Ajay Maken were openly insulted. Why hasn’t action been taken against them yet? This is the question, the answer lies with the party,” he had said.

Asked about Pilot’s charge, Randhawa on Saturday referred to the rebellion by the Pilot camp in July 2020.

“Some people say there was a rebellion before Corona (pandemic). I do not want to carry too much of the past, I want to talk about the future,” he told reporters here.

“We should think about the future and take lessons from the past so that such mistakes do not happen in the future,” he added.

In July 2020, Pilot and 18 other Congress MLAs revolted against Gehlot’s leadership, which led to a political crisis in the state that lasted for one month. The crisis ended after the party leadership intervened and assured Pilot that it will look into the issues raised by him.

With a flurry of meetings among Rajasthan Congress leaders, speculation was rife about a possible cabinet reshuffle in the state to quell factionalism in the party unit.

Randhawa on Saturday held separate meetings with the ministers and also called Assembly Speaker C P Joshi, while Pilot also has an “informal” meeting with Joshi.

After meeting the Speaker, Randhawa was asked about the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle in the state ahead of the year-end assembly elections.

“If everyone says then we will do but I think we do not have any such plan right now,” he said.

Party sources also noted that the leadership is at present focused on the Karnataka polls

Prior to Randhawa, Pilot also met Joshi and called it an informal meeting.

The party earlier in the week appointed Amrita Dhawan and Virendra Singh Rathore as AICC co-in charge of Rajasthan, while Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa remains the in-charge of the state.

“Changes in the organisation take place from time to time. Elections are six months away, so people have been given responsibility and I think it will send a good message,” Pilot said.

“I want all of us, whether they are representatives of AICC or those handling the work of the party organisation, to go to the ground, talk to the people and understand the feelings of the workers,” he said.

Earlier, Randhawa said he was taking feedback from the ministers and had asked them to strengthen the party organisation.

“I have told the ministers that you should work for the organisation as well as the government. Elections are about the organisation and the government, so I am talking to them to strengthen the organisation,” he said.

Gehlot and Pilot have been at loggerheads ever since the party picked the former as the chief minister in December 2018. Their tussle for power has often spilled into the public.

After his rebellion in July 2020, the party removed him as deputy chief minister and state Congress chief.

On April 11 this year, Pilot again opened a front against his own party’s government by sitting on a day-long fast in Jaipur, alleging inaction by it in cases of alleged corruption during the previous Vasundhara Raje dispensation.

Pilot said the Congress raised the issue of corruption when the party was in opposition from 2013 to 2018 and promised in the 2018 polls that action would be taken if it forms the government in Rajasthan.

However, no action was taken in over four years of the Congress government, he said.

Randhawa had then said any such protest amounts to anti-party activity and goes against the party’s interest.

The Congress also threw its weight behind Gehlot and said that its government has implemented schemes that have benefited people and the party will seek a renewed mandate later this year “on the strength of these landmark achievements and the collective efforts of our organisation”.

Telangana: Modi is a compulsive liar, says BRS city in-charge

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Hyderabad district in-charge Dasoju Sravan dubbed Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “compulsive liar” and said that to ensure peace in Telangana, ‘KCR sarkar’ has to be brought back for the third time.

Speaking at the Athmeeya Sammelan held at Adikmet in Musheerabad constituency on Sunday, Daosju said, “It is extremely unfortunate that we have a Prime Minister who lies in case of every important issue. PM Modi lies about his educational qualification, sheds fake tears before every election that his life is in danger. Never have we seen such a compulsive liar in the political history of India”.

“He has cheated people on Rs 15 lakh every home promise, brought in disastrous demonetisation, looting people by increasing petrol, diesel, LPG prices and protecting his friend Adani. People should put an end to the atrocious rule of PM Modi,” he alleged.

Dasoju further said, “No other state can come even remotely close to Telangana. In fact all BJP-ruled states are lagging behind the state in welfare, development, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, agriculture production and other areas”.

He said that it was the responsibility of every Telangana citizen to stop the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He said that people of Musheerabad are politically aware and progressive. “It is heartening that Musheerabad people have stood by KCR during the Telangana movement. The party cadre has to ensure that information regarding the government’s programs is taken to each home so that the party comes to power again”.

Finish Modi and country will be saved, says Congress’ Rajasthan in-charge

    [ad_1]

Jaipur: Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress’ Rajasthan in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Monday levelled allegations against PM Modi, questioning the Pulwama incident. He said that if Modi is finished the country will be saved, however, if Modi stays then the country will be ruined.

Randhawa said, “Our fight is not with Adani, but with the BJP. Kill BJP and Adani-Ambani will die automatically. When the Congress comes, Adani-Ambani should not come. They should go to jail. Many of our leaders did not take them along. This has to be taken care of.”

He added, “I tell all leaders to end their fighting and talk about ending Modi-BJP. If Modi is finished then the country will be saved. If Modi stays then the country will be ruined. Modi talks about patriotism. They don’t even know what patriotism is.”

Randhawa questioned the Pulwama incident and said that Modi says “Pakistan mein ghuskar marenge”. First of all, tell me, how did Pulwama happen? Get it checked. Wasn’t it done keeping in mind the elections.”

He stated “All those who went to jail during the freedom struggle were from Congress families. Five generations of Congress families have gone to jail for the country. There is blood of every Congressman in Andaman’s Cellular Jail. Modi says what has the Congress done. The Congress has given freedom to the country, it has given the country to a dishonest person like you,” he commented.

Randhawa was speaking at the Raj Bhavan gherao programme organised by the Congress under the leadership of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president Govind Singh Dotasara on Monday in protest against the crony capitalism policy of the BJP central government in favour of Adani.

Randhawa said, “When the British came, they had brought the East India Company to do business. Modiji has brought a man like Adani by making him like the East India Company which looted the country for 200 years and took it over. The country is moving towards slavery again. Not Modi but Adani is deciding what will happen in the country,” he said.

He added, “First take out Modi, if Modi goes out then Adani will automatically end. First kill BJP, Adani will end automatically. Narendra Modi is destroying the country and selling the country.”

He lashed out at factionalism and selfish leaders in the Congress and said, “We have to work for the Congress, not for any individual.”

  • Telangana unit Cong in-charge stresses need for unity in view of polls

Telangana unit Cong in-charge stresses need for unity in view of polls

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Aiming to end the infighting and forge unity in the Congress party in Telangana ahead of this year’s Assembly elections, the new in-charge for the party in the state Manikrao Thakare made it clear on Saturday that he neither is in anyone’s favour nor against someone.

He asked the party’s state unit leaders to work with unity and if they are any issues bring them to his notice. He advised them not to speak on the internal issues before the media as this would damage the party’s interests.

Addressing the extended executive meeting of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) in Hyderabad, the in-charge told the leaders that his duty is to act as per the orders of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

He asked the party leaders to make the ‘Hath Se Hath Jodo’ programme in the state a huge success like Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.

Thakare directed the party leaders and cadres to work with unity to take the programme to every village and every street. He told the participants in the meeting that Rahul Gandhi undertook the nation-wide yatra in a bone-chilling cold and it is ‘our responsibility to take the message of the yatra’ to every house.

The AICC in-charge said TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy will undertake yatra in at least 50 Assembly constituencies in the state and asked senior leaders to cover another 20-30 constituencies.

Thakare said everyone in the party should work hard to make the yatra successful in view of the coming Assembly elections. “If all of us work together, the Congress party will definitely win the election and come to power,” he said.

Revanth Reddy said Hath Se Hath Jodo Yatra in Telangana will begin on February 6 and will continue for two months. He said a resolution was passed during the meeting, appealing to the central leadership to arrange a day’s visit to Telangana by Priyanka Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi.

He said the yatra would be formally launched from Bhadrachalam on January 26.

The meeting was attended by Revanth Reddy, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, former PCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy, three AICC incharge secretaries and other leaders.

Manikrao Thakare also had meetings with the Campaign Committee, Election Management Committee and AICC Program Implementation Committee Chairman regarding expansion of these committees and their work.

The AICC on January 4 appointed Thakare as the new in-charge amid infighting in the party’s state unit.

Thakare, a senior leader from Maharashtra replaced Manickam Tagore, who was shifted to Goa following complaints by a section of senior leaders he had been supporting Revanth Reddy and taking unilateral decisions.

A section of senior leaders had last month slammed Revanth Reddy for packing the party panels with his loyalists.

They had also announced to save Congress in Telangana movement, terming it a fight between what they called real Congress and the leaders who came from other parties. This was an open attack on Revanth Reddy and others who quit Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to join Congress a few years ago.

A day after senior leaders raised the banner of revolt, 13 loyalists of Revanth Reddy had announced resignations from party posts.

The crisis had forced the high command to send senior leader Digvijay Singh to Hyderabad. He individually met the leaders from both the groups and based on the feedback received submitted a report to the high command.
