Politics over Iftar: RLJD decides to stay away from parties this year

Patna: While the politics of Iftar continues in Bihar, Upendra Kushwaha-led Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal (RLJD) has decided not organise such an event this year.
Kushwaha, while interacting with media persons in Patna said: “Going for an Iftar party is similar to sprinkling salt on the wounds that happened due to the communal violence during the Ram Navami processions in Sasaram and Bihar Sharif.”
“The holy month of Ramzan is currently underway and people are organising Iftar parties. Some prominent people invited me for the Iftar parties. A number of members of my party also suggested that I organise an Iftar party. In view of the current situation in Sasaram and Bihar Sharif, I personally believe that instead of organising an event, we have to make it convenient for ‘Rozedars (Muslim people who do the fast during the month of Ramzan)’. At present, ointments are needed to fill wounds. Organising events could be viewed as sprinkling salt on the wounds,” Kushwaha said.

Earlier, the BJP distanced itself from Nitish Kumar’s Iftar party after Ram Navami violence. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had invited every political party, including BJP, LJPR, RLJD and others, but the leaders of these three political parties stayed away.
On Sunday, the RJD is organising an Iftar party at Rabri Devi’s residence. RJD also invited BJP leaders, Upendra Kushwaha and Chirag Paswan. BJP and Upendra Kushwaha decided not to go in the iftar party of RJD. As Chirag Paswan has close family relations with Lalu’s family, he will go for the Iftar party at Rabri Devi residence.

Video: Robot serves Iftar meals in Saudi Arabia’s capital

Riyadh: A robot in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh is serving Iftar meals to fasting people during the holy month of Ramzan.
A video clip circulating on social media platforms shows a robot moving on the sidewalk carrying sunset meals and delivering to volunteers who served people inside the cars.
The robot is shown wearing a jacket with a sign on the back that reads in Arabic— “Ramzan without [food] waste.”

The General Authority for Food Security in Saudi Arabia (GFSA), a government body, recently launched a campaign to urge the public to reduce food waste during Ramzan when food consumption usually increases.
Traditionally, free iftar initiatives are launched during Ramzan in the kingdom.
More than 11,000 meals were served last week at an iftar party hosted by the municipal authorities in Al-Kharj Governorate, southeast of Riyadh.

Meanwhile, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders slammed the prime minister Narendra Modi for his ‘parivarvaad’ (dynastic politics) remarks.

Prime minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed ‘pain’ at the alleged non-cooperation of the ruling dispensation towards central initiatives aimed at the southern state.
“Handful of people who encourage ‘parivarvaad’ are trying to see where they can reap benefits from projects being implemented for the people of Telangana,” PM Modi said.
Reacting to Modi’s statements about the state’s non-cooperation with Central projects, state finance minister Harish Rao said “Every word is far from the truth. Playing so many lies as the Prime Minister is worth it to him.”
“It is ridiculous for Modi to say that the state government is not cooperating with the Centre. Actually, the situation is reversed. Centre is not giving any support to Telangana by not sanctioning a tribal university, railway coach factory, Bayyaram steel industry, medical colleges, and nursing colleges,” Harish Rao said.

12 pc Muslim Reservation echoes again at TS Congress party Iftar

Hyderabad: The demand for 12 percent Muslim reservation and conversion of the waqf board into a Commissionerate once again echoed in the old city as Congress National Minorities Department Chairman and MP Imran Pratapgarhi addresses an Iftar party hosted by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Revanth Reddy and reminded Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of his promises.
AICC in-charge of Telangana Manikrao Thakur also attended the iftar party of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Revanth Reddy at The Quli Qutb Shah Stadium in the old city on Friday. A large number of Congress leaders and workers were present.
Imran Pratapgarhi said that despite the non-fulfillment of promises made to the minorities of Telangana state, some so-called Muslim political parties are supporting the TRS government. He said in his own style that when there is a storm of hatred in the country, Revanth Reddy has sent a message to establish brotherhood in the state of Telangana. He congratulated the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) leaders who have launched a campaign to eradicate hatred.

TPCC president Revanth Reddy, speaking on the occasion, thanked the people of the old city who have accepted his invitation and attended the iftar. He also thanked all the participants who attended his iftar party from other parts of the country.
Revanth Reddy accused chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao-led BRS party of acting at the behest of the BJP. He said that all the activities of the BRS have become clear that they are working at the behest of the BJP to intensify the fire of hatred and communalism which is being ignited in the country.
He also questioned the political parties who often say that the steering of the BRS car is in their hands.
Muhammad Ali Shabbir also welcomed all the participants. On this occasion, Mohammad Ali Shabbir felicitated Imam Makkah Masjid Maulana Dr Rizwan Qureshi on the occasion.

Nitish Kumar hosts Iftar party in Patna

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday organised an Iftar party in his official residence, 1 Anne Marg, here.
Several leaders including Deputy Chief Ministers Tejashwi Yadav, JD-U national President Lalan Singh, cabinet minister Jama Khan, JD-U state president Umesh Kushwaha, Water Resource Minister Sanjay Jha and several Muslim clerics participated in the event.
In the last few days, the opposition parties has targeted Nitish Kumar over Iftar parties, especially after the Ram Navami violence in Sasaram and Bihar Sharif. BJP and LJPR targeted Nitish Kumar after he went for the Iftar party of JD-U MLC Khalid Anwar in Phulwari Sharif in Patna recently.

Iftar parties in Bihar have significant political overtones. One such example was seen last year when RJD leader and Rabri Devi had given an Iftar party in her official residence 10 Circular Road in Patna, attended by Nitish Kumar, and subsequently political equation had changed in Bihar as he dumped the NDA to join the Mahagatbandhan again.
Rabri Devi will organise an Iftar party on April 9.

Non-Muslim students serve Iftar to their Muslim friends in Bidar

While the country faces religious disharmony, the students of the Shaheen group of institutions belonging to different faiths have organised Iftar for their Muslim friends in Karnataka’s Bidar, setting a perfect example of fraternity.
The month being Ramazan, the students have made an effort to prepare iftar plates loaded with fruits, fried items, and Rooh Afza (fruit drink) on daily basis.

While the Muslim students break their fast in the evening, their non-Muslim friends serve them food and drinks on dastarkhwan (dining spread).

While they actively engage in preparing iftar, a Hindu student said, “We find peace in doing this and we also want to be a part of Ramadan.”
Wishing ‘Ramzan Mubarak’ to everyone, the student also said that she feels happy witnessing an environment like this.
This act of unity and friendship between students of different faiths highlights the importance of mutual respect and understanding that still prevails in many areas of the nation.
Another student, who volunteered at the event said that it was the first time that she has experienced Ramzan and added, “I really feel lucky in helping Iftar for my Muslim friends.”
Lauding the efforts of the students, the founder of the institution, Dr Abdul Qadeer said that it is overwhelming to see the suited spirit among students.

As many as 4500 participate in the Iftar programme daily.
“On our campus, Muslim and non-Muslim students observe the Iftar daily, while Muslims break their fast, the non-Muslim students serve them while they send out messages of peace and love,” said Abdul Qadeer.
He further hopes and says that he prays that these students in the future lead to the betterment of society and the nation by setting an example of religious harmony.

Iftar meals will be served onboard in addition to Etihad’s regular hot meal service, and guests will be treated to dishes like Saffron curry crusted seabream, Lamb shank with black lime jus, Lentil soup, Chaami and beetroot salad, Machboos chicken ciabatta sandwich, Aseeda cheesecake, Saffron pot de creme with Batheeta crumble, and more.
Chef Khaled Alsaadi said, “It was an absolute pleasure to work again with Etihad’s culinary design team, the unique collaboration allowed me to present modern Emirati dishes to international guests travelling on board the UAE’s national carrier. Ramzan: Up to Rs 22 lakh fine for distributing iftar meals without permits in Dubai

Abu Dhabi: Dubai residents who distribute iftar meals to the public during Ramzan without a permit could be fined 5,000 Dirhams (Rs 1,12,465) to 100,000 Dirhams (Rs 22,49,814), the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities (IACAD) announced in Dubai on Friday.
Imprisonment could also be given from 30 days to a year.
After a short ban due to COVID-19 safety measures, it is allowed to serve food to the less fortunate but anyone doing so needs permission.
Permission can be obtained from the website of the IACAD or by calling 800600.

Name and location of the restaurant from where the food is sourced
During the holy month of Ramzan, it is customary for Muslims to engage in charity work, giving food and money to help those less fortunate.
However, it is important to ensure that donated meals are safe for consumption, and obtaining a permit is a necessary step to achieving this goal.

Saudi sets rules to offer Iftar services in Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah

As the holy month, Ramzan 1444 AH is around the corner, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has announced the requirements for providing iftar services for those fasting in the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
This came in a statement issued by the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Prophet’s Mosque, which it published on its Twitter account.
Here are the requirements
Licenses and commercial records must be valid of the catering contractors for Haj and Umrah
The space and area of the facility in the affiliated facilities shall not be less than 600 square metres
Each facility must have a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
License for minimum of 3 refrigerated food transport vans, equipped with 4 stainless steel trolleys per vehicle
Experience in this field without obtaining relevant comments affecting product and service quality
Specialized cooling centers with an area of not less than 45 square meters for storage before and after packaging
Providing dedicated and equipped sites for packaging, the area of which is not less than 65 square meters.
The agency also confirmed that iftar service providers in the Prophet’s Mosque are allowed to distribute meals themselves or through catering companies.
It also pointed out that the distribution of breakfast meals through catering companies will only be for people who will receive a license from them according to the conditions listed in the license and in compliance with the general specifications approved by the Food and Drug Organization.
It is necessary for Iftar service providers to update their information through the agency website after receiving SMS update request messages. They must also abide by the dates, places, and amounts specified for them in the permit.
