    Hyderabad: Alliance Air has come under fire for cancelling eight flights from Shamshabad Airport on Monday citing technical issues,

    Sectors including Tirupati, Bangalore, Mysore and Vijayawada were affected by the cancellation.

    Frustrated over the cancellations, the passengers who made prior bookings fumed over the management of the airlines and demanded better arrangements and alternatives in cases of emergency cancellations.

    Several tweets protruded following the cancellation where one said, “Dozens of passengers left stranded at Shamshabad Airport in Hyderabad.”

    Disappointed over the service, another passenger whose son just underwent surgery said that they suffered as the delay in the follow-up with the doctor had caused the boy discomfort.

    Another passenger criticised the airline for the five-hour delay and then cancelling it abruptly.

    The cancelled flights are 9I 877 HYD TO TIR, 9I 895 HYD TO BLR, 9I 888 HYD TO VGA, 9I 847 HYD TO MYQ 9I 872 MAA TO HYD, 9I 878 TIR TO HYD, 9I 896 BLR TO HYD, 9I 848 MYQ TO HYD.

    While waiting for updates, the distressed passengers urged the airlines to improve their communication services as they awaited a resolution of their issues.

    However, the airline officials informed the passengers that the flights were cancelled for operational reasons and assured to refund their money.

    As per the Telangana Labour Department Order, “The Telangana government, hereby, issues guidelines for granting exemption from Section 7 (opening and closing hours) of the Telangana Shops and Establishments Act 1988 to all shops and establishments as defined in Section 2 (21) of the Telangana Shops & Establishments Act 1988 for operating 24×7 in the State.” The shops and establishments can avail this option by paying an annual fee of Rs 10,000.

    With the decision, shops, and establishments, including malls and restaurants, can remain open round the clock seven days of a week.     Hyderabad: One person has been arrested at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport with 454 gms of gold, worth Rs 21,20,180, said Customs Air Intelligence officers of Hyderabad Customs on Sunday.

    According to the customs, the male passenger arrived at Hyderabad from Dubai and on thorough scanning of his baggage, gold weighing 455 gms having a value of Rs 21,20,180, concealed in the form of screws and rods (64 screws and 16 rods) of trolley wheels has been recovered.

    Further investigation into the matter is underway.

    Earlier, Hyderabad Customs seized 12 cut pieces of gold bar and gold chain weighing 807.10 grams worth nearly Rs 50 lakh, officials said on Tuesday.

    The male passenger who arrived from Doha by flight which landed at 08.45 am was searched following which the recovery was made.

    “On suspicion, the pax was searched and 12 cut pieces of gold bar & 1 gold chain totally weighing 807.10 Gms valued at Rs.49,71,736/- concealed inside chargeable torch light were found. The gold was seized by Hyderabad Customs,” the officials said.

    Further investigation into the matter is underway.

    Hyderabad: A total of 511 women journalists were examined in the 10-day health camp which was organized at the Information Department headquarters Hyderabad in the city. The health camp which started on March 29 continued for 10 days.

    It was jointly organized by the Departments of Health, Information and Public Relations following instructions of Minister K T Rama Rao. The government has started health camps with the intention of providing complete health to women journalists.

    A total of 511 journalists including 205 accredited women journalists from Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts and another 306 women journalists working in various press and news channels who have organization identification cards also utilized this opportunity in the master health check-up program.

    The master health check-up includes a blood test (C.B.P), blood sugar, diabetic tests, lipid profile, thyroid, calcium, urine tests, vitamin B12, D3 etc. Diagnostic tests like ECG, X-ray, ultrasonography, mammogram, and Pap smear were done screening tests, medical officer examination, eye screening, dental tests, and gynaecology tests were done. The reports were submitted on the same day.

    The health camp was conducted under the supervision of medical officers and officers of the I& PR Department. The women journalists who underwent the tests expressed their happiness about this program. The women journalists who underwent health check-up expressed their satisfaction that this camp has given a lot of support to the families of journalists, a press note said.

    Hyderabad: Speaking about periods openly is no more taboo, GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi said addressing female students at the Government High School for Girls in NBT nagar on Sunday.

    “Let us shun old ways of managing periods. You must change along with changing times. Use sanitary pads. Pay attention to personal hygiene. Periods are a natural and biological process. And every girl goes through this process. Pain is also attached to Periods. You must face it and you must also attend school,” she said while addressing 100-plus girls at the school.

    Earlier Gadwal Vijayalakshmi inaugurated a Sanitary Pads vending machine and an incinerator along with Ritu Shah, chairperson of FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO).

    The function was held at NBT Nagar Girls Highschool at Banjara Hills on Saturday late evening. Later she distributed pads to girls.

    FLO under its ‘Sustain her health’ initiative donated both machines and pads. They will continue to provide pads free of cost for the benefit of the girls, a press note informed.

    “No one should skip school due to periods or periods related to pain, or uneasiness. Education is also equally important,” said Ritu Shah while addressing the girls.

    Later Dr Sweta Agarwal spoke about menstrual hygiene, Physical Wellness and Kanika Jain about mental wellness.

    Dr Sweta Agarwal told them to follow three rules of periods. One is to pay utmost importance to hygiene. The second rule is to use sanitary pads. Three is to dispose of used pads hygienically.

    “No one needs to feel shy talking about periods,” she said. She asked them if they watched the Padman movie, and if not asked them to watch it. Please talk openly, she told them. She told them to eat such fruits which contain a lot of water such as Water Melon, Cucumber etc.

    Kanika Jain while talking about mental wellness, said that each one of them is prone to menstrual-related stress. “You need to learn to cope with it,” she told them. She also suggested some home remedies and asked them to use medicine when the pain becomes unbearable sometimes. She also told them to play outdoor sports to deal with stress.

    Anita, the headmistress of the school also participated in the function.

    The videos went viral on social media and some citizens tagged it to Hyderabad police who assured to take strict action.
