8-yr-old boy murdered in Hyderabad, family suspect human sacrifice

Hyderabad: An eight-year-old boy was brutally murdered in Hyderabad in what his family has suspected to be a case of human sacrifice. But the police said they have no evidence of it.
The body of Abdul Wahid was found in a drain in Moosapet early Friday.
The boy went missing on Thursday from his house in Allauddin Koti area of Sanath Nagar and his family had lodged a complaint with the police.

Police have arrested Imran, a transgender, and four others for the murder. The victim’s family ransacked his house and claimed to have found indications of a human sacrifice.
However, the police said the boy was murdered over a financial dispute between Imran and the boy’s father Waseem Khan, who runs a business of readymade garments.
After the boy went missing on Thursday evening, his father had lodged a complaint with the police. Based on CCTV footage in the area, police arrested Imran, who confessed to killing the boy and throwing the body in a drain.
According to the victim’s family, Imran had asked the boy to fetch ORS. When the boy, who was fasting, went to Imran’s house to give the ORS packet, the latter caught hold of him.
The accused strangled him to death by forcibly dipping his head in the bucket filled with water. After confirming the child had died, Imran, with the help of an auto-rickshaw driver, stuffed the body in the water bucket and a bag and threw it in the drain.

The murder led to high tension in the area.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Srinivas Rao said dispute over financial matters led to the murder. He, however, said if the victim’s family suspects it to be a case of human sacrifice, they will probe the case from that angle as well.
Minister for animal husbandry T. Srinivas Yadav visited the areas.
He clarified that it was not a case of human sacrifice but assured the victim’s family that culprits will not be spared.
He said a fast track court will be constituted to ensure speedy trial and punishment.

Hyderabad: Teenage girl dies on the spot in road accident at Langar Houz

Hyderabad: A road accident in Hyderabad has claimed the life of an 18-year-old girl, while her father and younger sister sustained injuries. The incident occurred on Thursday night at Langar House when the victims were traveling on a two-wheeler to their residence located at Brundavan Colony, Tolichowki.
The victim, Syed Nasreen Begum, and her family were on their way home when a truck hit their vehicle from behind. While Nasreen Begum died on the spot, her father and younger sister, aged 10 years and a student of class VI, were injured.
According to preliminary reports, the truck driver, Venkataiah, was driving at high speed and lost control of the steering, leading to the accident. The Langar Houz Police have registered a case and arrested the truck driver.

Hyderabad: Siasat Millat Fund arranges burial of seven unclaimed Muslim bodies

Hyderabad: It is indeed a great honor and blessing from Allah Almighty that Siasat Millat Fund is actively involved in the noble act of arranging dignified burials for unclaimed Muslim dead bodies. Namaz-e-Janaza (funeral prayers) for seven known Muslim bodies were offered at Jama Masjid Dar-ul-Shifa, where Qari Muhammad Abdul Bari led the prayers. May Allah Almighty grant these deceased individuals a peaceful resting place in Jannah (Paradise) and provide comfort and solace to their loved ones.
In this way, more than 5500 unknown Muslim men, women, and children have been buried through Siasat Millat Fund in the last 18 years. The bodies are collected from the morgues of Osmania General Hospital, and Gandhi General Hospital.
It should be noted that the funeral prayers of seven unknown Muslim men were offered yesterday. They were buried in the graveyard of Secunderabad.

It is encouraging to know that there are many people who support the cause of arranging dignified burials for them through generous donations to the Siasat Millat Fund. This reflects the compassion and empathy that exists within the Muslim community towards all human beings, regardless of their identity or social status.

It should be noted that former Asst. Sub-Inspector Syed Zahid Hussain Shah Qadri has played an important role in this noble cause and he has been engaged in this noble work with his team for 18 years.
Indeed, attending funeral prayers and performing the ritual washing (ghusl) of the deceased are considered virtuous acts in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized the importance of attending funeral prayers and promised great rewards for those who do so. In a hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah, the Prophet said, “Whoever follows a funeral procession and offers the funeral prayer for it, will get a reward equal to one Qirat. And whoever attends it till burial, will get a reward equal to two Qirats.” (Sahih Bukhari)
Similarly, the act of purifying the body of the deceased before burial is also considered a virtuous act in Islam. In a hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah, the Prophet said, “Whoever washes the body of a Muslim, Allah will forgive him forty times.” (Sahih Bukhari)

Therefore, giving a dignified burial to unknown Muslim bodies can be considered a virtuous act in Islam, as it shows compassion and respect towards the deceased, regardless of their identity or social status. And Allah’s rewards and blessings are not limited to specific acts or individuals but are based on the sincerity and intention behind each action.

Engineering consultant selected for Hyderabad Airport Metro

Hyderabad: An engineering consultancy consortium consisting of Systra, RITES, and DB Engineering has been selected as the General Consultants (GC) for the Hyderabad Airport Metro Rail project.
Systra is a major engineering consultancy group from France, while RITES is a PSU of Indian Railways and DB belongs to Germany.
In an open competition in which five international consortia competed, the Systra-led consortium became the winner. It not only got the highest technical score for its credentials, but gave the lowest financial quote of Rs 98.54 crore to provide engineering consultancy services, Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd (HAML) Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy said.

He has indicated that this consortium will deploy 18 experts of different railway engineering disciplines and about 70 senior and field engineering personnel during the construction of Airport Metro.
Based on the recommendations of a technical committee which evaluated the capabilities, experience and competence of the five consortia which participated in the tender, a high level committee consisting of Special Chief Secretary, Finance, K. Ramakrishna Rao, Metropolitan Commissioner, HMDA Arvind Kumar and HAML MD Reddy has selected the Systra-led consortium as the GC for the Airport Metro.
The immediate task of the GC is to prepare EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) tender documents for selecting the contractor for the Airport Metro, added Reddy.
The 31-km long Metro will connect the Information Technology hub of Hitec City to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad.
The foundation stone for the Airport Metro was was laid on December 9, 2022. The project will be built by the state government at a cost of Rs 6,250 crore.

Hyderabad: Meet Arhaan, 18-month-old artist with national, international awards

Hyderabad: Arhaan Sai Gourishetty, an 18 months old artist from Hyderabad has received four international awards, two national awards and many other awards at a tender age.
The kid who is not even two years in age has used 43 techniques to create 50 contemporary fluid art paintings.
The accolades of the artist include the World Book of Records, Asia Book of Records, India Book of Records and Telugu Book of Records Arhaan’s mother Snehitha said that they had introduced Ahaan to painting at a very young age as a sensory activity, and then it was found that he has more interest in painting.

“We introduced painting to our son as a sensory activity. Apart from Arhaan, there are three other kids in my family and thus every weekend would be an art session in our house. Since he was very young, we introduced him to many different activities. Then we saw that Ahaan’s interest is more towards art rather than puzzles,” she said.
She also said that since Ahaan was not able to handle brush at this age, he was introduced to other art forms like fluid arts.
“Ahaan used 43 techniques in his artwork and at the age of 17 months, he was able to do 50 contemporary paintings. As parents, even we were left wondering looking at his work. We as parents do not involve in his artwork-making, don’t even guide him. We just give him the colours and let him explore and play with the colours. We are not worried about how the output would be. However, to our wonder all the paintings come out very well,” she further said.
Ahaan’s mother said that they also submitted their son’s works to the World Book of Records and immediately got approval from them. His works were also submitted to some art galleries and curators.
“At the same time, he was able to get four international and two national records also. We don’t have any plans for him as he is just 18 months. If he is interested in arts in the future, he would continue. We have very good family support for any field he chooses to pursue,” she added.

Arhaan’s father, Gourishetty Arun Sai told ANI that their son has been recognised by the Cultural department of central government as well as many more art-cultural societies.
“When he was very young, we introduced him to many sensory activities like painting, texture, playing with different materials and others. But, we found that he was more interested in painting and we thought we will pursue this even more so that he could improve further. When he was around 14 months, we let him play with colours. It was more like home learning,” he said.
He added, “Usually, the children of these age groups spill around colours, but instead, Ahaan was more focused on drawing and art. He never used to spill paint outside the canvas board. He is not attending any professional courses now as he is too young to be trained. Whatever he does, it is what comes to him naturally.”

Hyderabad: KCR to lay foundation for new NIMS block in May

Hyderabad: Telangana health minister T Harish Rao on Thursday said that chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will lay the foundation stone for the new block of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) soon.
The new state-of-the-art multispecialty block is being built with Rs 1571 crores in 32 acres at Erramanzil Colony. Including 500 emergency beds, the new facility is being constructed with a capacity of 2000 beds. The laying of the foundation stone of the new block will most likely happen in May.
The new facility will house 42 super-speciality departments including heart, kidney, liver, cancer care, emergency and trauma care facilities, and all orthopaedic specialities.

Hyderabad: BRAOU’s B.Ed entrance test details announced

Hyderabad: BR Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) on Thursday announced that the last date for online registration for admission into Open and Distance Learning (ODL) B.Ed courses.
B.Ed ODL and B.Ed (Special Education- ODL) entrance test for the academic year 2022 to 2023 in BRAOU is May 22.
The entrance test will be held on June 6. Interested candidates may register through the University portal. The Registration fee is Rs 1000 for general candidates.

For candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PWD categories the registration fee is Rs 750.
The university advised that the hall tickets have to be downloaded two days before the entrance test from the university’s website. B.Ed – ODL test will be conducted from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM and B.Ed (Special Education) test will be conducted from 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM.

Hyderabad: IPL betting rackets busted; property worth Rs 1.41 cr seized

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police on Wednesday busted massive cricket betting networks, arrested twelve persons in two separate cases and seized property worth more than Rs 1.41 crore.
According to the police, the accused were cricket bookies of organized online cricket betting rackets for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 matches.
Rs 50 lakh in cash, 5 betting boards, 8 laptops, 62 mobile phones, 20 smartphones, 1 Tablet, 4 televisions, 1 Router and 4 four-wheelers were seized from their possession.

In the first case, the police arrested Muthina Vasanth Kumar, Kalidindi Venkata Ramaraju, Ponduri Venkat Sai and Kruthiventi Ramesh. Ayyappa alias Manikanta, the main bookie of Vasanth Kumar is absconding.
In the second case, the police arrested Chittibomma Karthik, Badam Veeresh, Bandari Shiva Kumar, Middela Manoj Kumar, Chintala Venkata Padma Chandra Mohan Rao, Chandrapati Satish Kumar, Manne Sathyanarayana alias Satish and Patapati Ravi Varma. Kumar, Pandu, Sk Jilani, and Prabhakar, the main bookies, in this case, are absconding.
Nine of the accused persons in the case are residents of Andhra Pradesh.
The city police advised the public to be wary of the following Apps: Bet 365, MPL, Betway, Dream Guru, My 11 Circle, Bet 365, Coral, Bwin, 777 Bet, Dafabet, Winner, Cricket Betting 2020, Just Bet, Betfred, and Lotus Cricket Line.

While the tourism and other departments had earlier proposed to convert the building into a heritage hotel on the lines of Falaknuma Palace, it now looks like the palace is likely to be converted into a state museum.

According to a report by TOI, Telangana Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao is believed to have informed HMDA officials about Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s plan to convert it into a state museum.
History of Paigah Palace in Hyderabad
Paigah Palace was built by Sir Vicar-ul-Umra, a Paigah nobleman. It is spread over four acres of land and is a double-storied building.
The palace premises consist of the main building (G+1), annexure-I building (G+3), and annexure-II (G+3) with a total built-up area of 6,211 square meters.
The US Consulate office in Hyderabad was the first US diplomatic office to open in India after 1947. Until March 15, it was housed in Paigah Palace, Chiran Fort Lane, Hyderabad.
In the past 14 years, the US Consulate approved over 16 lakh visas and processed 42511 citizenship services. However, on March 20, the US Consulate in Hyderabad began its operation at a new facility in Nanakramguda, which is the largest US diplomatic mission in South Asia, built with an investment of USD 297 million. The new consulate office, constructed on a 12.2-acre site, has many new features, including 54 visa procession windows.

India beats China in population; Hyderabad among 10 populous cities in the country

Hyderabad: India has surpassed China to become the most populous country in the world. As per the latest United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) report, with a population of 1,428.6 million, India has overtaken China by a difference of 2.9 million.
The report states that 25 percent of India’s population is comprised of children aged 0-14, with 18 percent in the 10-19 age group, and 26 percent belonging to the 10-24 age group. Meanwhile, 68 percent are in the 15-64 age category and only 7 percent are above 65 years.
In contrast, China has 17 percent of the population under 14 years of age, with 12 percent in the 10-19 age group and 18 percent in the 10-24 age group.

Hyderabad among top 10 most populous cities in India
According to the latest Indian census, Mumbai is the most populous city in the country, followed by Delhi. Hyderabad is among the top 10 most populous cities in India.
Hyderabad has a population of 68 lakhs and it covers an area of 650 sq. km on the Deccan Plateau along the banks of the Musi River. The city was established in 1591 by the Qutb Shahi dynasty’s Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah and served as the capital of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh from 1956 to 2014. Since 2014, Hyderabad has been the capital of Telangana state.
As per census data, 64.93 percent of Hyderabad’s population is Hindu, 30.13 percent are Muslim, 2.75 percent are Christian, and 2.19 percent belong to other religions.
China’s population decreased for the first time since 1960
For the first time, India has topped the UN’s list since it began collecting population data in 1950. The report also notes that China’s population decreased for the first time since 1960.
China had imposed a strict “one-child policy” in the 1980s to combat overpopulation fears, but lifted the policy in 2016. It began letting couples have three children in 2021 as the country’s workforce ages and fertility rates decline.
