Hyderabad: Cheated, pregnant woman tries to end life; rescued

Hyderabad: A pregnant woman who was cheated on by her lover attempted to end her life by jumping into Hussain Sagar Lake on Sunday afternoon. However, she was recused by the Lake Police officials who happened to witness her.
According to the police, the woman accused her 45-year-old boyfriend named Rajasekhar who on the pretext of marrying her developed a sexual relationship.
The woman soon became pregnant with Rajassekhar’s child. When she told him about the development, he assured her of marriage. However, the woman soon got to know that he is planning to marry someone else.

Based on her complaint at the Banjara Hills police station, an FIR was lodged and Rajasekhar was arrested. But things did not go well as he was soon out on bail.
Disappointed, the woman decided to end her life. But she was rescued by the Lake Police officials on time.

Hyderabad: ‘Manhandled’, YS Sharmila ‘slaps’ woman constable; detained

Hyderabad: YSR Telangana Party chief YS Sharmila was prevented from leaving her house, by the city police on Monday, to submit a representation to the Special Investigation Team officials investigating the TSPSC paper leak.
As she attempted to leave her home, police officials restricted her. However, Sharmila charged towards her vehicle but was prevented from entering it.
Tension erupted at Lotus Pond as she sat on the road in front of her house.

Sharmila picked up a heated argument with the cops as she was allegedly being ‘manhandled’ and ‘restricted’ by women constables.
Enraged, Sharmila was seen manhandling a policeman and pushing him after he stopped her from entering her car. She also allegedly ‘slaps’ a lady constable as she tries to grab her hand.
She was then taken away by the police in their vehicle.

Sahrmila’s hunger strike was scheduled on April 17 under the umbrella of ‘Telangana Students’ Action for Vacancies and Employment’ (T-SAVE), a platform mooted by YSRTP President Y.S. Sharmila but the police had denied permission for the same.
Earlier, Sharmila had filed a petition in the High Court, seeking direction from the police to allow her protest against unemployment.

The High Court, however, directed that not more than 500 people should participate in the hunger strike.
After the police denied the permission, the YSRTP lashed out at chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for it calls his atrocious reign and dictatorial treatment of those who raised voices against his failures and fake promises.

Hyderabad police to crack down against illegal use of sirens

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand on Monday asked the traffic cops to conduct a special drive against the illegal use of sirens in the city.
The police have been directed to detain and seize all vehicles using unauthorized sirens.
Hyderabad police to take action against ambulances
The commissioner also directed the traffic cops to check ambulances, which have been reported to be using sirens even when they are not carrying patients or carrying fake patients. The use of sirens in such cases creates a disturbance in traffic flow and could cause accidents.

Responding to a tweet that highlighted the illegal use of sirens by a vehicle on April 23 from Tolichowki to Rethibowli, the commissioner agreed that the illegal use of sirens by all and sundry is creating a lot of traffic issues and disturbing the maintenance of traffic flow. He urged the public to keep reporting vehicles that are illegally using sirens and provide proof of such incidents.

Rules for use of sirens
As per the rules, sirens are allowed only in vehicles used as ambulances or for fire fighting or salvage purposes or vehicles used by police officers or operators of construction equipment vehicles or officers of the Motor Vehicles Department in the course of their duty. Therefore, any other use of sirens is illegal, and the police will take strict action against those violating the law.
The Hyderabad Police’s move to crack down against the illegal use of sirens is commendable. The misuse of sirens not only creates a disturbance in traffic flow but also poses a danger to the safety of other road users.

Hyderabad to receive rainfall till Thursday, forecasts IMD

Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad, forecasting rainfall till Thursday, April 27.
According to the IMD Hyderabad, all six zones in Hyderabad – Charminar, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad, and Serilingampally – are expected to have a generally cloudy sky, with light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers expected towards the evening or night.
Maximum temperature in Hyderabad
While Hyderabad is expected to receive rainfall, the maximum temperature in the city is likely to be in the range of 36 to 40 degrees Celsius.

This is in line with the forecast by the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), which has also predicted light rainfall or thundershowers at isolated places towards the evening/night for the next three days.
Apart from Hyderabad, IMD forecasts rainfall in other cities
It is important to note that the yellow alert is not limited to Hyderabad and is valid for the entire state of Telangana. The temperature in other parts of the state may go as high as 42 degrees Celsius, making it important for people to stay indoors and keep themselves hydrated.
In view of the forecast made by both IMD Hyderabad and TSDPS, residents are advised to take necessary precautions and plan their travel accordingly.
Tips to beat the heat
As the temperature in Hyderabad is rising continuously, it is important to follow tips to beat the heat.
Avoid spicy food: It is essential to avoid spicy food as it increases metabolism in the body.

Say ‘no’ to too much dry fruits: Although, dry fruits are good for health, too much consumption of almond, cashew, walnuts etc. should be avoided in summer as they produce enormous heat in the body.
Deep fried food not good in summer: Consumption of deep fried food in summer may affect digestion and cause burning sensation in the stomach.
Avoid stepping out, cooking during peak time: Avoid stepping out between 12 noon and 3 p.m. which is considered as peak time.
Stay hydrated: In order to stay hydrated, one can consume watermelon, fresh fruits, etc. Lemon juice, lassi, curd, etc., can also be consumed.

Hyderabad: Mild tension prevails following fight between two groups

Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed at Arundhathi colony Uppuguda of old city Hyderabad following a fight between two groups on Sunday night.
Tension started around midnight after members of the same family were fighting on the road in front of their house at Arundhati colony. Annoyed by the noise another resident who belongs to another community objected to the loud noise and asked them to sit and sort out the issue in their house. One of the persons attacked the resident after which his family members attacked the people who were quarreling. The other local people informed the police. Immediately the police swung into action and dispersed them. Senior police officials reached the spot and posted pickets.
The Commissioner’s Task Force and local police were deployed.

Leaders of BJP and AIMIM who came to the spot were taken into preventive custody and shifted to Kanchanbagh police station.
Police picket is posted in the area.

Hyderabad: Temporary mosque removed after complaint from Hindutva groups

Hyderabad: Authorities here on Saturday removed a temporary mosque set up using a container truck cabin on the banks of River Musi at Amberpet. The structure was illegal and had no permission from the authorities concerned.
Some local groups had objections to the mosque and lodged complaints with the district collector and GHMC after which the local Revenue authorities and police acted and removed the structure.
The matter came to light after some Hindutva groups and social media accounts shared the news on their pages and websites about it.

“A cabin made of iron was brought here and given the form of a mosque. Namaz prayers were also offered at this mosque. Three days later, when Bajrang Sena came to know about this, they informed other Hindu organisations. All the Hindu organisations together gave a letter to the District Collector, Commissioner of the Corporation, and Divisional Commissioner requesting the removal of the illegal mosque. The Administration removed the mosque subsequently,” reported sanatanprabhat.org on its website.
Following the development, the police posted a picket in the area.

Hyderabad: Managing Director Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited N V S Reddy was facilitated by the 21st Century IAS Academy here on Sunday.
The academy was celebrating Civil Service Day. The award was handed over by the former Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu to Reddy for the latter’s innovations and the outstanding contribution made in the field of public service.
Reddy spoke about the numerous hurdles and delays he and his team met during the construction of metro projects. “We faced many problems in the form of court cases, campaigns, protests. Even my effigy was burnt. But this did not deter me to achieve my goal,” Reddy said while accepting the award.

Hyderabad: CBI grills Kadapa MP’s father in Viveka murder case for 5th day

Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continued questioning Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy’s father Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy and their follower Uday Kumar Reddy for a fifth day on Sunday in former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case.
The duo was brought from Chanchalguda Jail to the CBI office.
The CBI court had sent them to six-day custody of the central agency last week, which will expire on Monday.

The probe agency officials were questioning the accused about the motive behind the murder.
Bhaskar Reddy was arrested by the CBI on April 16, just two days Uday Kumar Reddy was arrested on April 14 in Pulivendula town of Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh. Both were brought to Hyderabad where a court sent them to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will hear on Monday the petition of Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Suneetha Reddy challenging the Telangana High Court order granting protection to Avinash Reddy from arrest till April 25.
Observing that an “atrocious and unacceptable” order was passed by the high court, a bench comprising Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice P.S. Narasimha on Friday stayed proceedings before the high court and issued notice on the plea challenging protection to Reddy
The Supreme Court, however, directed the CBI not to arrest the MP till April 24.

Avinash Reddy, cousin of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Redddy, has been appearing before the CBI as per the interm order of the Telangana High Court on his anticipatory bail petition.
Vivekananda Reddy, brother of former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and uncle of Jagan Mohan Reddy, was murdered at his residence in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019, weeks before the elections.
The 68-year-old former state minister and MP was alone at his house when unidentified persons barged in and killed him.
The CBI took over the investigation into the case in 2020 on the direction of Andhra Pradesh High Court while hearing a petition of Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Suneetha Reddy, who raised suspicion about some relatives.
