UAE hotels see 90% occupancy as room rates surge ahead of Eid Al-Fitr

Abu Dhabi: Ahead of Eid Al-Fitr holidays, the hotels in United Arab Emirates (UAE) are witnessing exceptionally high occupancy rates of nearly 90%, local media reported.

The Eid Al-Fitr holidays in UAE begin on the 29th of Ramzan and until the 3rd of Shawwal (April 20 – April 23).

As the festivities coincide with the peak of the usual travel season, hotels on Palm Jumeirah, Downtown Dubai, Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah and Yas Island in Abu Dhabi will be packed with holiday tourists.

Although April is the peak tourism season, most hotels expect the Eid holiday season demand to be driven by accommodation enthusiasts.

As per a report by Gulf News, with accommodation enthusiasts providing more than 50 per cent of the demand, hotel room rates in prime locations average from 2,000 Dirhams to 7,000 Dirhams for a two-night stay, depending on the property.

Average daily rates for hotels in Dubai have increased by at least 45-50 per cent this month.

According to astrologers, this year in the UAE, Ramzan will be 30 days long. This gives the most likely start of Eid Al-Fitr on Friday, April 21. However, the official decision will be announced on the 29th day of the holy month of Ramzan, that is on April 19.

  • Hyderabad hotels no longer use curtains to cover food during Ramzan

Hyderabad hotels no longer use curtains to cover food during Ramzan

Hyderabad: Once upon a time the restaurants in the city, out of respect for those who fast in Ramzan, would help put up curtains to ensure that ‘rozedars‘ don’t get a look of people eating while they pass by.

As time passed, however, the practice of putting curtains or screens to cover the view of the people eating inside restaurants during the fasting hours in Ramzan has waned away.

Earlier, before Ramzan would begin, all restaurants and eateries would put up big cloth curtains. “Motive was to give a safe space to people who visit during fasting hours and eat sometime. Not all fast during Ramzan because of health-related issues, so such people would feel shy from visiting the hotel and eating. At home, one cannot expect families to cook food for one or two people,” said Syed Naseer of Al Madina Hotel, Falaknuma.

The other reason for putting curtains or screens at restaurants was to avoid hurting the sentiments of the pious who fast during the holy month of Ramzan. “Generally, it was to respect the religious beliefs of those fasting during Ramzan. In Muslim localities, all hotels preferred to put curtains or screens in Ramzan. The practice now has gone over a period of time,” said Moin Khan, a hotel owner at Misrigunj.

The practice of putting curtains was not restricted to any particular area or restaurant/hotel. “It was a uniform protocol. Sincerely adhered to by all hotel managements in Ramzan,” recalls Syed Mujeeb, an old-timer from Charminar. The curtain was removed after sunset when people break their fast for the day. The next morning the curtains would be put back.

This is something also seen in Middle East countries, including Dubai, earlier. Three years ago the UAE government there announced it was no longer mandatory to put curtains or screens at the hotel.

  • GHMC officials directed to regularly inspect hotels in Hyderabad

GHMC officials directed to regularly inspect hotels in Hyderabad

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Hotels in Hyderabad will soon be subject to increased scrutiny, as the Mayor of Hyderabad, G Vijaya Lakshmi, on Monday directed officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to take measures to curb food adulteration and conduct regular inspections at hotels and eateries across the city.

The Mayor pointed out that despite asking for reports on daily inspections by Food Safety Wing, no one submitted them.

Now, the officials have been instructed to take action against establishments found to be selling adulterated or sub-standard food. By doing so, the GHMC hopes to improve the quality of food available in Hyderabad and ensure the health and safety of its residents.

It is a positive step as by conducting regular inspections at hotels and eateries, officials can ensure that standards are being met, and take action against any violations.

With increased inspections and stricter enforcement, the hotels and eateries will be left with no option but to pay attention to the quality of the food that is served in the establishments.

  • Hyderabad: Shops, hotels dealing with meat on GHMC radar

Hyderabad: Shops, hotels dealing with meat on GHMC radar

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) will take stringent action against shops, hotels, restaurants, function halls and other establishments disposing of waste and leftovers including non-veg on streets and public places.

The move was announced after the recent horrific dog attack where a five-year-old Pradeep was moulded to death by a bunch of stray dogs.

Dog attacks are often observed in corners that turn into gathering yards for these dogs where waste from meat shops and restaurants is often observed being discarded.

Telangana animal husbandry minister, Talasani Srinivas Yadav held a high-level meeting with home minister Mahmood Ali, city Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi, and MAUD special chief secretary Arvind Kumar on Thursday, to discuss measures to avoid animal attack incidents.

Admitting that there is a serious stray dog menace prevailing in the city, the state government has decided to take measures to control dog-biting cases by forming eight teams.

The teams will conduct special drives to keep a tab on meat and chicken shops that dump waste on the roads and initiate strict action against erring shop owners.

GHMC to tackle stray dog menace

Meanwhile, the GHMC appointed zone-wise supervisors for the effective implementation of the Animal Birth Control – Anti Rabies (ABC-AR) programme within its jurisdictions.

The officials who will monitor the special ABC-AR drive within their zones for the next two months are B Sandhya (Kukatpally), G Uma Prakash (Secunderabad), J Suvartha (L B Nagar), L P Mallaiah (Serilingampally), A Shailaja (Charminar) and B Sreenivasu (Khairatabad zone).

Moreover, sanitation staff including the outsourcing staff would be trained to deal with street dogs and follow the appropriate protocol.

The instructions issued include setting up billboards/hoardings at suitable locations highlighting the appropriate behaviour towards and around street dogs.

The civic body will also distribute the pamphlets in both government and private schools detailing the ‘Do’s’ and ‘Don’ts’ of behaviour around street dogs.

To alleviate the aggression of street dogs during the summer, an adequate number of water bowls will be arranged in suitable locations, preferably away from places of greater public movement.

Officials were directed to take up a programme in the next month in all schools to educate children about the appropriate behaviour protocols while dealing with stray dogs.

    [ad_1]

Allocating your wedding budget can be one of the hardest tasks when planning your big day. With so many elements to consider, it is easy to lose track and mount up if not accounted for initially. With the advent of social media, especially Instagram, the cost of wedding photography has risen exorbitantly and in some weddings, the cost of wedding photography takes the maximum share.

In Indore, a groom got so fed up with the high quotes even from the local wedding photographers that he devised a new way to create his wedding album. Reportedly, the man took all the CCTV footage of the wedding venue, hotel, and edited the footages himself to create his wedding album.

The photos and videos in album were black and white, to which the groom said that “monochrome” was the theme of his wedding.

Speaking to The Fauxy, one of the groom’s friends said “Alok (Groom) was worried about the wedding photography and the bride was more excited about the wedding album than the wedding itself. And after seeing the quotes by the local photographers he decided not to go ahead with them. Soon he claimed that his engagement ring is stolen and used it as an excuse to get all the CCTV footages of the hotel during wedding time. Even during his wedding he was learning photo and video editing. He took out time during honeymoon and created his wedding album“.

Bride, who was very happy with the wedding album and its theme monochrome, has now deleted her Instagram account out of embarrassment.
