US-based Kashmiri Hindu outfit supports Pandit employees’ demand for relocation

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: A US-based Kashmiri Pandit group has supported the demand of community members employed under a special government package for relocation outside Kashmir Valley in view of targeted killings by terrorists.

Alleging that the issues related to Pandits are being used for politics across the country, the Kashmiri Hindu Foundation (KHF) urged the central government to initiate a dialogue with the Panun Kashmir, an organisation representing the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community, to address their grievances.

“The series of selective killings (by terrorists) in Kashmir shows that normalcy has not been restored…. Taking our miniscule community back by force in a scattered way, like it is being done under the prime minister’s (employment) package, is destined to prove to be a fatal experiment,” the foundation said in a resolution passed at its special session.

Hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits employed in the valley under the prime minister’s package fled to Jammu in May last year following the killing of their colleague Rahul Bhat inside his office by terrorists. Many of them are on a protest strike in Jammu, demanding their relocation outside the valley.

“The current agitation by the employees of the PM package, which is termed by the government a rehabilitation package, proves that this experiment of rehabilitation has also failed. The government wants to project that only by sending a few thousand Kashmiri Pandits back to the valley, they have rehabilitated us,” the resolution reads.

Questioning the “Naya Kashmir” slogan of the government, it alleged that the PM package employees are facing “grave and systematic human rights violations” at the hands of authorities which have stopped their salaries, using force and detaining them.

“We demand immediate relocation of Kashmiri Pandit employees to Jammu to safeguard their right to life until a comprehensive rehabilitation plan as per aspirations of the whole community are considered,” the KHF said.

Suggesting initiation of dialogue with the Panun Kashmir, it said the organisation can apprise the central government about the ground realities which will help in addressing the issues faced by the community effectively.

The KHF reiterated the demand for carving out a separate homeland with Union Territory status to the east and north of river Jhelum for the community in accordance to The “Margdarshan Resolution” adopted on December 28, 1991, by pandits after their migration from the valley.

‘Adil’s family refusing to accept me because I’m a Hindu’, claims Rakhi Sawant

    [ad_1]

Mysuru: Actor Rakhi Sawant alleged on Wednesday that her husband Adil Khan Durranis family told her that she is a Hindu and hence they can’t accept her into the family.

Speaking to reporters outside a court in Mysuru, Rakhi Sawant broke down and said, “He (Adil) is married to me. I want justice. Today morning I spoke to his father. He told me that they can’t accept me because I am a Hindu. After I told him that I have now accepted Islam and that his son is married to me, he stopped taking my calls. Adil is always threatening me with ‘talaq’.”

She added, “I don’t want to give him divorce. I am his wife. His father spoke very rudely to me. I don’t know anyone in Mysuru, but I want justice. I have accepted Islam. I have all the documents of my marriage. Where should I go now? What should I do?”

“I met Adil in Mysuru one year ago, and eight months back we got married. I accepted Islam and we did ‘Nikah’. Our marriage was registered in Mumbai. He had promised me that we will have babies and do a lot of things together,” Sawant said.

Sawant also claimed that she spent Rs 1.60 crore on Adil.

“I even sold my jewellery but he took everything from me. He also started torturing me. He was having an affair with an Iranian girl in Mysuru for five years, who later accused him of rape. I got messages from the Iranian girl in which Adil claimed that he is just using me for money and promised her a house in Dubai. He also told her that I will be cheated by him,” she added.

The Karnataka police have taken Adil into custody from the Mumbai police in connection with a rape complaint lodged against him by an Iranian student in Mysuru.

He was produced before the court on Wednesday which remanded him to seven-day police custody.

  • ‘Trap 10 Muslim girls for 1 Hindu girl’, says Sri Ram Sene chief

‘Trap 10 Muslim girls for 1 Hindu girl’, says Sri Ram Sene chief

    [ad_1]

On Monday, right-wing organisation Shri Ram Sene’s chief Pramod Muthalik declared to provide security and employment to young Hindu men who trap Muslim women and ruin their lives. This, according to Muthalik, is a counter-attack to ‘love jihad’.

At an event in Karnataka’s Bagalkote district, he claimed many Hindu women were ‘falling prey’ to ‘love jihad’.

“We are aware of the situation. I want to invite the youth here. If we lose one Hindu girl, we should trap 10 Muslim girls. If you do so, Shri Ram Sene will take responsibility for you and provide every kind of security and employment,” Muthalik said among rousing cheers.

Muthalik had recently announced he would contest the upcoming state Assembly elections from the Karkala segment in the Udupi district.

According to him, he does not know how to play politics, and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government endorses ‘fake Hindutva’.

“If I had supported BJP’s fake Hindutva, I would have achieved many things by now,” he said.

He attacked the current Karkala MLA and state minister for Kannada and culture V Sunil Kumar for corruption. “The present MLA does not care for the people of Karkala. All he has done is indulge in mass corruption activities. One can see that by the amount of wealth, he has accumulated so far,” Muthalik alleged.

Hindu temple in Australia gets threat calls; asked to raise Khalistani slogans

    [ad_1]

Melbourne: A prominent Hindu temple in Australia has received threatening calls in which it was asked to raise pro-Khalistani slogans if it wanted to observe Maha Shivratri peacefully which falls on February 18, a media report said on Friday.

The threatening call to Gayatri mandir in Brisbane came after three Hindu temples were vandalised in Australia’s Victoria state allegedly by “Khalistani supporters” with anti-India graffiti.

Jai Ram, the president and Dharmesh Prasad, the vice president of Gayatri Mandir received separate calls on Friday from a man who identified himself as ‘Guruawadesh Singh’ seeking the Hindu community to support the “Khalistan Referendum”, The Australia Today reported.

Claiming that he was calling from Nankana Sahib in Pakistan, the anti-India supporter asked temple officials to ask the Hindu community to support the ‘Khalistan Referendum’.

“I have a message in relation to Khalistan… if you plan to celebrate Maha Shivratri …. then ask the priest to support Khalistan and raise ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ slogans five times during your event… now show me how you will raise this slogan,” the report said, quoting Singh’s warning message to the president of the temple.

Talking about the threat call, Prasad said that violence towards religious places is the biggest crime and “we as Hindus should be able to practice our religion without fear”, the report said.

Later on, Temple’s Public relation officer Neelima also said that received several calls from an American number.

The threatening call to Gayatri mandir came after recent attacks on three Hindu temples that were vandalised in Australia’s Victoria state allegedly by “Khalistani supporters” with anti-India graffiti.

Earlier, a Kali Mata Mandir in Melbourne’s northern suburb of Craigieburn also received a threatening call to cancel a bhajan and puja event or face consequences.

The Indian-Australian community is still recovering from the vandalism of three temples by Khalistani extremists.

On Jan 23, the management of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple also known as the Hare Krishna Temple in Melbourne’s Albert Park found the walls of the revered temple vandalised with graffiti “Hindustan Murdabad”.

On January 16, the historic Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs, Victoria, was vandalised in a similar manner.

On January 12, the Swaminarayan temple in Melbourne was defaced by ‘anti-social elements’ with anti-India graffiti.

UP Minister calls Swami Prasad Maurya ‘Ravan’ over remark on Hindu epic

    [ad_1]

Budaun: Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Minister Gulab Devi on Thursday compared Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya, who demanded a ban on a portion of Shri Ramcharitmanas, to ‘Ravan’.

The minister made the remark in a press conference here during her visit to the centres for the UP Board Examination.

“Even Ravan did not believe in Ramcharitmanas,” she said.

“But Ravan had Ram in his heart. He went to heaven but what was his condition before that? Ramcharitmanas is a scripture full of qualities of humanity. It is a question of our faith,” the minister said.

“There is an emptiness in the hearts of those who do not believe this. They are criticising Manas to make their politics shine,” she said.

Maurya, a Legislative Council member, had in a statement last month demanded a ban on a couplet from Shri Ramcharitmanas, terming it derogatory towards Dalits and women.

On the Kanpur Dehat incident where a woman and her daughter immolated themselves during an anti-encroachment drive, the minister said, “it was heart-wrenching.”

“There should be no politics on this. One should sympathise with the survivors of the victim’s family. The government should compensate them. Action is being taken against the culprits,” she said.

On the UP board exams, she said anyone found involved in cheating will be booked under the National Security Act.

Miscreants vandalise 14 Hindu temples in northwestern Bangladesh

    [ad_1]

Dhaka: Unidentified miscreants vandalised 14 Hindu temples in northwestern Bangladesh in a series of orchestrated attacks overnight, police said on Sunday.

“Unidentified people carried out the attacks under the cover of darkness, vandalising idols in 14 temples in three unions (lowest local government tier),” said Bidyanath Barman, a Hindu community leader at Baliadangi) “upazila” or “sub-district” in Thakurgaon.

Barman, the general secretary of the upazila’s Puja Celebration Council, said some of the idols were destroyed while some were found in pond waters along the temple sites.

“We are in the dark about their (culprits) identity but we want to bring them to justice after investigations,” Barman said.

The Hindu community leader and union parishad chairman Samar Chattarjee said the region was always known to be an area of excellent interfaith harmony as “no such heinous incident took place here in the past”.

“The (majority) Muslim community does not have any dispute with us (Hindus) we just cannot understand who could be these culprits,” he said.

Baliadangi police station’s officer in-charge Khairul Anam said the attacks took place between Saturday night and Sunday dawn at several villages.

“It clearly appears to be a case of an orchestrated attack to disrupt the peaceful situation of the country,” Thakurgaon’s police chief Jahangir Hossain told reporters at one of the temple sites.

He added that a police investigation was launched immediately to track down the miscreants. “I assure you they will have to face stern legal actions,” he said.

Those criticising Hinduism shouldn’t seek Hindu votes: BJP Karnataka chief

    [ad_1]

Belagavi: Karnataka BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel said on Tuesday that those who criticise Hindu religion and say the word ‘Hindu’ has a different meaning, should say that they don’t want Hindu votes.

Addressing a public rally here, Kateel slammed Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president Satish Jarkiholi for his statement regarding the origin and meaning of the word ‘Hindu’.

Jarkiholi had said that the word Hindu had its origin in Persia, and it meant ‘slave’. The statement had stirred a big controversy, forcing the Congress to distance itself from the remarks.

Kateel, who was attending the Vijaya Sankalpa Yatra in Yamakanamardi constituency represented by Jarkiholi, dared him (Jarkiholi) to announce that he does not want Hindu votes.

“The Hindu community has woken up. This time he can’t contest from this constituency, he will have to search for another,” he said.

  • Documentary row: Hindu Sena puts up anti-BBC placards outside organisation’s Delhi office

Documentary row: Hindu Sena puts up anti-BBC placards outside organisation’s Delhi office

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Members of the Hindu Sena on Sunday allegedly put up anti-BBC placards outside the UK-headquartered broadcaster’s office on Kasturba Gandhi Marg here over its documentary on the 2002 Gujarat riots.

Placards reading “BBC is a threat to India’s Unity and it should be Banned” and “BBC stop tarnishing India’s image. BBC leave India” were put up outside the main gate of the BBC office amid a row over the controversial documentary.

The placards were removed by the police.

Hindu Sena members also accused the media organisation of conspiring to tarnish and malign the image of both India and Prime Minister Modi.

The BBC is a threat to the unity and integrity of the nation and the channel should be banned in India immediately, Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta said.

He recalled that the BBC was banned in India during the tenure of Indira Gandhi as prime minister. The ban was lifted after the organisation submitted an apology, Gupta claimed.

When asked, a senior police officer said, “Our patrolling team, which was present nearby, spotted the placards outside the BBC office and removed those.

“Some of them (Hindu Sena members) were still trying to display the placards elsewhere but they could not due to police presence and fled.”

Legal action has not been initiated as no complaint was received, he said.

Students from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia held protests here during the past week after the varsity authorities refused to allow screening of the documentary.

The government had last week directed Twitter and YouTube to block links to the documentary titled “India: The Modi Question”. The Union Ministry of External Affairs has called the documentary a “propaganda piece” lacking objectivity and reflecting a colonial mindset.

However, opposition parties have slammed the government’s move to block access to the documentary.
