    In a recent legal development, Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, a prominent hepatologist and clinician-scientist, has had his Twitter account suspended after a court order was secured by Himalaya Wellness Company. The company sought to restrain Dr. Abby from making defamatory remarks against their products and to direct the social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, to suspend his account.

    Advocate Udaya Holla, representing Himalaya Wellness, argued that the company’s business had seen a substantial reduction due to Dr. Abby’s derogatory statements against their products. Allegations were also made that Dr. Abby may be acting in collusion with pharmaceutical giants Cipla and Alchem.

    Dr. Abby is known for his critical comments regarding alternate health remedies, particularly AYUSH medicines, and has been a prominent voice on the platform. Notably, his assertion in 2021 that Himalaya’s product Liv52 could exacerbate pre-existing liver disease gained significant attention.

    Kedarnath Yatra: Maximum 13,000 pilgrims to visit Himalayan shrine every day

    Rudraprayag: A maximum of 13,000 pilgrims can visit Kedarnath per day when the annual pilgrimage to the Himalayan temple in Uttarakhand begins on April 25.

    The government has set the daily limit this time and a token system has also been introduced for the convenience of the pilgrims, Rudraprayag District Magistrate (DM) Mayur Dikshit told a press conference here on Tuesday.

    These are meant for a smooth conduct of the yatra, the DM said.

    Dikshit and Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police (SP) Vishakha Ashok Bhadane, who reviewed the arrangements for the forthcoming yatra, held a joint press conference.

    The pilgrims will get better medical care this time with the deployment of 22 doctors and an equal number of pharmacists along the yatra route.

    There will be three physicians and two orthopaedic surgeons among them, Dikshit said, adding that 12 medical relief points have also been set up along the route.

    Six ambulances have been deployed along the route, of which three have been kept in reserve, and an air ambulance has also been arranged by the government for any emergency.

    Sulabh International has been given the responsibility of keeping the yatra route clean, while the Kedarnath Nagar Panchayat has been assigned the task of keeping the temple premises clean.

    Permanent toilets are being built by Sulabh International and for waste management, a QR-code system is being implemented for plastic and water bottles. Health examinations of horses and mules are also being conducted by the animal husbandry department along the yatra route.

    Jal Sansthan has installed nine water purifiers from Sonprayag to Kedarnath Dham to provide pure drinking water to the pilgrims.

    The DM said 2,500 people would be accommodated in Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) guesthouses from Guptkashi to Badi Lincholi.

    Besides, two tent colonies with 80 beds each are being set up at New Ghoda Padav and Himlok Colony in Kedarnath Dham, which will accommodate 1,600 people.

    The SP said 450 police officers and employees have been deployed to conduct the yatra in an orderly manner and arrangements for 150-200 police personnel from outside the state are being made.

    A lost-and-found centre will also be operated during the yatra. Along with this, signboards have been prepared in different languages for the pilgrims coming from various states.

    Additional parking lots have been identified to deal with the frequent traffic snarls during the pilgrimage, the officials said.

    Srinagar, Mar 22: Stating that Jammu & Kashmir among many areas are highly vulnerable to earthquakes, the experts here on Wednesday said that instead of panicking, there is a need to come up with earthquake resistant human infrastructure that leads to the loss of lives and damage to the properties.

    Pertinently, an earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale occurred on late Tuesday night in Jammu and Kashmir, triggering panic among the people.

    Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a prominent Seismologist, Prof. Ghulam Jeelani (Department of Earth Sciences, University of Kashmir), said that nobody can prevent earthquakes anywhere across the globe as it is a natural phenomenon, which would continue to take place.

    “J&K being one among the regions that are highly vulnerable to the earthquakes would witness jolts again and again. Whenever the stress accumulates, the energy gets generated and thus gets released in the shape of earthquakes,” he said.

    He added that no one can stop the occurrence of earthquakes, but there is a need to come up with the human infrastructure, which is earthquake resistant. “It is a fact that no one loses life due to earthquakes, but it is the human infrastructure that leads to the loss of lives as well as the property damage. Once people opt for taking all preventive measures while constructing their buildings, such incidents will also stop,” he said.

    However, he said that there is a need to follow dos and don’ts in spirit during earthquakes to ensure safety.

    As per the reports, around 60 earthquakes will hit J&K and Ladakh in 2022. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) data shows that J&K parts have felt tremors 9 times in March, 2023 so far.

    Prof Shakil Romshoo, an earth scientist, told KNO that the entire Himalayan region, including Jammu and Kashmir has been historically vulnerable to earthquakes.

    He said that the region has witnessed several mega earthquakes in the past. “Therefore, the government, civil societal and individuals should work hard to build a culture of disaster preparedness in the society in order to minimise human and infrastructure damage in the eventually of a high magnitude earthquake,” he said—(KNO)

    SAMBA: Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana today blamed Rahul Gandhi for failing in apologizing to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the Himalayan blunders committed by the Congress in this part of the country since 1947.

    “Least to speaking about tendering apology, Rahul Gandhi took pride in being in the company of PAGD allies who have exploited Kashmiris, one way or the other, all these years,” Devender Rana told media at the side-lines of Yagya organized by Sant Sri Balak Yogeshwar Das Ji Maharaj.

    Rana said that Rahul Gandhi also preferred to align with those who push for talks with Pakistan whenever the rogue neighbour perpetrated mayhem through her lackeys—be it in Dangri Rajouri or target killings of Kashmiri Pandits and the outsiders. He said the former Congress President also conveniently forgot the threats and warnings of the PAGD leaders that there will be nobody to hold Tiranga in Kashmir.

    He must now thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating a situation where, not only the people of Kashmir are carrying on economic activities and daily chores freely and fearlessly, but political leaders like him freely enjoying snow in the Valley.

    The Senior BJP leader said the people do not know whether Rahul Gandhi has joined the nation together or not during his just concluded so-called yatra but they have certainly watched his brazen bonding with ‘Bharat Todo’ PAGD, which stands for Pakistan, anti-national, separatist, radicalised and secessionist elements.

    “No wonder, the person, who embarked on the yatra to Kashmir to understand, as he says, the feelings of the people, must be returning back as ignorant as he has been, due to lack of his understanding”, he added.

    Rana said that the peace and normalcy dawning in Kashmir is result of path breaking initiatives taken by the Prime Minister for holistic development of the Valley post abrogation of Article 370, which removed all obstacles in bonding of Jammu and Kashmir with rest of the country emotionally. Unfortunately, he said, Rahul Gandhi did not clear his stand on Article 370 even at the close of his yatra.

    On a question about Rahul Gandhi hoisting tricolor in Lal Chowk, Rana said this is the changed Kashmir and changed scenario in the Congress as well. In this context, he recalled the statement of the Congress General Secretary in Jammu, observing that unfurling the national flag in Kashmir is RSS legacy and said that this tradition has now inspired their young leader to follow the Sangh footsteps. Better late than never, he observed and wished Rahul Gandhi to understand the Indian ethos in its totality. That will be true repentance of the Congress for the sins committed in independent India, he added.

    On the Mahayagya, Devender Rana complimented Sant Sri Balak Yogeshwar Das Ji Maharaj as a tribute to martyrs, due to valour and sacrifices of whom the nation is breathing in democratic, sovereign nation. He said the Indian Armed Forces were the most disciplined and brave forces across the world, which are capable of defending the territorial integrity with valour.

    Those accompanying Rana for participating in the Mahayagya included Surinder Choudhary, Mangu Shah, Surinder Singh Gill and others.
