    Gurugram: Gurugram Police arrested three Iranian nationals who allegedly posed as policemen and duped a Yemen national, police said on Monday.

    The Yemen national visited India for his wife’s medical treatment in Gurugram.

    The accused, who came to India on valid visas, were held from Delhi on April 5 and were taken on remand, police said.

    The Iranian nationals have been identified as Hossein Rezaeifard, Marammad Hussain Peerfalak and Abdol Salam.

    After investigating the accused, police learnt that the three used to target foreign nationals who were here for medical treatment.

    Posing as police officials, the accused used to approach the foreign nationals by posing as police and ask for their wallets to check if they are carrying any narcotic substance, following which they used to escape with the money in the wallets.

    In this case, the accused also duped the victim of 4300 (USD) and other documents. The victim told the police on January 15 he was on his way to the guest house when the trio posed as police officers, duped him and escaped the spot.

    “The accused were professional criminals and committed three similar types of crime in Delhi and Gurugram. They arrived in India 5/6 months ago and committed the crime. The accused are taken on police remand for further probe,” Preet Pal Sangwan, ACP (crime) said.

    Toronto: In a suspected hate-motivated incident, a 28-year-old Indian-origin man has been arrested by the Canadian police on the charges of yelling threats and religious slurs at worshippers and for dangerous driving at a mosque in Ontario city, according to a media report.

    Sharan Karunakaran was taken into custody in Toronto on Friday night following a call for a disturbance at the mosque on Denison Street in Markham, Ontario, the CTV News reported on Sunday.

    Witnesses reported that Karunakaran attended the mosque in a vehicle and drove directly at one of the worshippers, yelling threats and religious slurs.

    The suspect drove dangerously in the parking lot before leaving the property, a police official was quoted as saying in the report.

    Investigators have charged a suspect with several criminal offences after a suspected hate-motivated incident at a mosque in the City of Markham, York Regional Police said in a statement.

    Karunakaran has been charged with one count of uttering threats, one count of assault with a weapon, and one count of dangerous driving. The charges have not been proven in court, the report said.

    Members of the Hate Crime Unit attended the mosque to offer support to its members, police said.

    His next court appearance is scheduled for April 11.

    On Saturday, local Member of Parliament and Federal Trade Minister Mary Ng said she was “deeply disturbed” to learn of the alleged attack.

    “Deeply disturbed to hear of the violent hate crimes and racist behaviour at the Islamic Society of Markham. To Muslims in Markham and Canada, I stand with you,” she said in a tweet.

    SRINAGAR: An intruder was killed and two others were apprehended as army said to have foiled an infiltration bid on intervening Saturday and Sunday night along Line of Control in Poonch district.

    “On 08 April 2023 at 10:15 pm, own alert troops deployed on the Line of Control in the Poonch Sector observed a suspicious movement of a group (three individuals) close to the Line of Control and at around midnight the group, crossed the Line of Control and started infiltrating on to own side”, a spokesperson of defence ministry based in Jammu said in a statement.

    “Own alert troops kept the movement of the infiltrating group under continuous observation and around 2:am as the group approached the fence, the alert Indian Army troops deployed on the fence challenged the infiltrators”, the statement reads.

    “The intruders started to run away but were engaged by firing, in which one intruder was shot dead, while the other two managed to run into the jungle taking advantage of the thick foliage and rocky outcrop. The area was immediately cordoned to prevent their escape across the Line of Control.”

    The search operation, as per the statement, was launched at first light wherein the dead body of one intruder was recovered at the encounter site. “As the search progressed in the jungle, one intruder was apprehended alive in wounded condition. In the subsequent search the third intruder was also apprehended alive.”

    “In the search operation so far three bags with fourteen packets of Narcotics weighing approx 17 kgs, Pakistan currency, some documents, and eatables have been recovered.”

    “Indian Army troops have by their quick action thus prevented a major infiltration bid of a narco-terror group which had the potential of disturbing the peace in Poonch & Rajouri Districts through its nefarious designs”, reads the statement . (GNS)

    KULGAM, APRIL‌ 09:‌ To review and finalize the arrangements for smooth conduct of farmer’s orientation programme (Kisan Sampark Abhiyan) under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), a meeting of officers was today convened under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal-Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat at mini-secretariat, here.

    The meeting was attended by ADDC Showkat Ahmad Rather, JDP Zahid Sajjad, ACR Mir Imtiyaz-ul-Aziz , ACP Shurjeel Ali, CAO, CAHO, DSHO, BDOs and resource persons from Agriculture and Allied departments.

    During the meeting, Chief Agriculture Officer Kulgam (District Nodal Officer HADP) apprised the chair regarding the arrangements put in place for the successful conduct of farmer’s orientation programme under the HADP which will be held from 24th April upto 31st of August 2023.

    The DC stressed upon the Sectoral Officers of Agriculture and allied departments to give the programme a wide publicity in advance so that mass participation of the farming community can be assured.

    He also instructed to aware the farmers about modern tools and techniques that has been incorporated in HADP to overcome the prevailing constraints and use different extension methods to motivate the farming community in adoption of proposed interventions in the approved projects.

    He assured all possible help from District Administration for the successful implementation of the programme in the district to uplift the livelihood of the farming community.

    It is important to mention that the Govt. of UT of J&K has recently sanctioned 29 projects for Agriculture and Allied Sectors for an amount of Rs 5013 Crores with an aim to increase the farmer’s income and to make the UT of Jammu and Kashmir a leading Agrarian Economy in the country.

    Noida: The Noida Police on Friday apprehended a teenager from Lucknow who is believed to have sent an email to a media house, threatening to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, officials said.

    The boy was produced in a juvenile court here later in the day and was granted bail, according to an official.

    The bail was granted since the charges invoked in the case were bailable, the official said.

    The 16-year-old boy, who hails from Bihar, was picked up from the Chinhat area of the state capital on Friday morning and has been brought here, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Noida) Rajneesh Verma said.

    “An FIR was lodged in connection with the case of April 5 at the Sector 20 police station here after which the matter was investigated, technical teams also roped in to trace the sender of the email, which contained the threat message,” Verma said.

    “On the basis of the investigation, the email sender was traced and found in Lucknow’s Chinhat area. The sender turned out to be a schoolboy, who has just completed his Class 11 and will be beginning Class 12 in this session,” the police officer told PTI.

    The police had lodged an FIR against unknown person after a media house representative approached them with a complaint, stating they have received an email threatening to assassinate the prime minister and the Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

    The FIR was lodged under the Indian Penal Code sections 153A (1b) (act prejudicial to maintenance of harmony, or likely to disturb public tranquillity), 505 (1b) (act likely to cause, fear or alarm to the public, or to any section of the public whereby any person may be induced to commit an offence against the state or against the public tranquillity), 506 (criminal intimidation), 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication), police said.

    The police had also invoked provisions of the Information Technology Act in the case.

    The incident occurred earlier this month,” Kotwali Police Station SHO Ajay Kumar Seth said.

    Gurugram: Three men were arrested for running a gang that allegedly duped women from different states after befriending them through matrimonial sites, police here said on Wednesday.

    A Nigerian national who is reportedly the kingpin of the gang is absconding and police are conducting raids to nab him, they said.

    A senior police officer said that the accused were identified as Aman Kumar, 26, Rahul Singh, 28, and a 38-year-old Santosh Kumar all residents of Delhi.

    The accused targeted women on matrimonial sites posing themselves as prospective grooms from abroad.

    After befriending a woman posing as a foreign national, a gang member would ask her to send costly gift items, and other gang members would force her to cough up money in the name of tax and custom clearance posing as custom officials.

    An FIR was lodged in the matter first when Shampa Pal, a native of Kolkata who lives in Chakkarpur area here, filed a complaint on February 9 alleging she was duped of over Rs 13 lakh.

    “I got in touch with a man through Instagram, who claimed to be a doctor in the UK. Soon after he shared his WhatsApp number also,” Pal said in her complaint, according to police.

    At one point during their friendship, the man asked Pal to send her some gold and 20,000 British pounds.

    On January 30, she got a call from a woman who said she was calling from a courier company.

    “She told me that to get the parcel of gold and pounds I must pay tax and she shared a Union Bank account number to transfer money.

    “The first time, I transferred Rs 55,000, then subsequently Rs 3,27,920, Rs 1,85,000, Rs 3,39,287, and Rs 3 lakh. After this, she again called me for Rs 7,26,000 more,” Pal wrote.

    Following her complaint, an FIR was registered at Cyber Crime, East, Police Station on February 9 and the alleged frauds were arrested.

    “We are conducting raids to nab other members of this gang. We are questioning the accused and hope many cases will be solved during the interrogation,” said Priyanshu Dewan, ACP, Cyber.

    RT PCR and RAT testing escalation among symptomatic patients and cases dated for surgeries and other procedures were discussed in detail.

    It was emphasised to follow and adhere to COVID appropriate behaviour, especially in hospital and health care settings.

    The hospital administrators were asked to prepare separate areas for COVID cases in respective hospitals with intensive care support also.

    Hyderabad: The Warangal police arrested three people including a minor boy for their alleged involvement in the sensational ‘SSC Hindi paper leak case’ reported on Tuesday.

    The arrested persons are identified as 18-year-old Shiva Ganesh 28 year old B Prashanth and the minor boy, all from Hanmakonda Warangal.

    A V Ranganath, Warangal Commissioner of Police told media persons the minor boy entered the examination centre at the Government High School in Uppal village Hanmakonda mandal after scaling the boundary wall. The minor boy went to the second floor and collected the question paper from his friend who was appearing for the exam.

    “The minor boy wanted to help his friend with answers so he took the question paper and clicked a picture using his mobile phone. After coming out of the centre he shared via Whatsapp with his friend Ganesh who in turn posted in some groups seeking answers to the questions. He also forwarded it to Prashanth,” said Ranganath.

    The photo of the question paper went viral after it was posted in different groups. On noticing it the education department officials investigated and after inquiry complained to Kamalapuri police station in Warangal.

    A case is registered and investigation is underway.

    Three men were arrested on charges of gang-raping and murdering a 32-year-old woman by the MIDC CIDCO police in Aurangabad. They were produced before the court on Monday and sent to police custody.

    The accused – 24-year-old Pritam alias Sonu Narwae, 32-year-old Ravi Gaikwad and 19-year-old Rahul Jadhav – are residents of Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

    DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) Shilwant Nandedkar said Gaikwad has a criminal history with 32 cases registered against him. “The procedure of verifying the criminal records of the other two accused is going on,” the police official said.

    The incident took place on Sunday when the victim was on her way home.

    According to police, the three accused had been tailing the victim for some time. On Sunday she was going to a worship place after dropping her children at school. when finding her walking alone, they dragged her into the bushes and gang-raped her. “While one accused had scratch marks on his neck and face, the other confessed to smashing her head with a boulder as she shouted for help,” police said.

    The body was found by nearby local people. Police registered an FIR based on a complaint filed by her husband. “Our team was able to crack the case within 24 hours,” said an officer.
