New Delhi: A 23-year-old youth has been arrested for creating three fake Instagram accounts and uploading morphed pictures and mobile number of a girl to take “revenge”, the police said on Wednesday.

The arrested individual has been identified as Roshan Sharma, a resident of Ankur Enclave at Loni in Ghaziabad. He works as an autorickshaw driver.

According to the police, on February 3, a woman lodged a complaint at Jyoti Nagar Cyber Police Station regarding a fake Instagram account created in her name with her morphed images by some unknown person.

“During the investigation, three Instagram accounts containing obscene pictures and morphed images of the complainant were found. The personal mobile number of the complainant was also found mentioned in the Instagram account,” said Joy Tirkey, Deputy Commissioner of Police.

The police team tasked with investigation obtained the registrant details, and the IP address of the fake Instagram profile.

“On the basis of the information, and through technical surveillance, the location of the mobile phone used in creating the Instagram account was traced to the Loni area of Ghaziabad. In the early hours of Tuesday, Roshan was apprehended,” said the DCP.

The mobile phone and two SIM cards used in the commission of the crime were also recovered from his possession.

On questioning, Roshan confessed to his crime.

He disclosed that earlier, he used to reside at rented accommodation in Mukund Vihar, Karawal Nagar. One day, he had a heated argument with his girlfriend during which the complainant (a friend of his girlfriend) also got involved, and he had abused her.

“On being abused, the complainant called her brothers and got Roshan beaten up. To avenge the humiliation, he downloaded her photos from her WhatsApp profile and created three fake Instagram accounts in the name of the complainant and uploaded her morphed pictures with her mobile number,” said the DCP, adding that further investigation in the case is under progress.

  • Sisodia held in open and shut case of corruption: Congress

Sisodia held in open and shut case of corruption: Congress

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Congress on Tuesday said AAP leader Manish Sisodia has been arrested in an “open and shut case of corruption” and that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should also be arrested for his alleged involvement in the excise policy case.

The two leaders are “deeply involved in corruption” and should be dealt with accordingly, Congress leader Ajay Maken said.

Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy for 2021-22.

“This is an open and shut case of corruption and a big scam has taken place in Delhi, and it should be viewed accordingly,” Maken said.

He said Kejriwal should also be arrested in the case.

“It has now been established in one of the charge sheets and one of the accused liquor barons has said he was made to speak to Kejriwal on Facetime,” he added.

The Kejriwal government had set up a committee to recommend changes in the excise policy but just the opposite of what the panel recommended was done “so that corruption could be done”, Maken charged.

The Congress leader claimed Sisodia and Kejriwal are “deeply involved in corruption” and asserted that they should be dealt with accordingly.

“Those who are sympathising with Manish Sisodia should know that this is a matter of corruption and it should be viewed accordingly,” Maken told PTI.

The AAP, which is projecting the action against Sisodia as “injustice”, should answer as to why changes were made against the recommendations of the committee, he said.

Maken further said, “I would also like to ask the central government not to misuse central agencies even in a genuine case like this and make it seem like political vendetta. They should use them sparingly.”

Some Congress leaders including Abhishek Singhvi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot have spoken in support of Sisodia and accused the government of misusing agencies against opposition leaders. Singhvi, who is also Sisodia’s lawyer in court, later clarified that his remarks did not represent the Congress’ stand.

MP court grants bail to Cong leader held for ‘be ready to kill PM Modi’ remark

    [ad_1]

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Monday granted bail to former minister Raja Pateria over his alleged remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December last year. The senior Congress leader, who has been in jail for nearly the last two and a half months, finally got relief as his previous attempts to secure bail were rejected by both the district and High Court.

Pateria’s alleged remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi — “be ready to kill PM Modi, killing in the sense of defeat in the elections,” had created a political storm in Madhya Pradesh and his comments were condemned by leaders cutting across party lines. The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee had issued an official statement and condemned Pateria’s remarks.

Following this, state Home Minister Narottam Mishra directed the police to register an FIR against the Congress leader.

Subsequently, Pateria was arrested from his residence in Hatta village of Damoh district on December 13 last year. According to the police, Pateria was booked under sections 451, 504, 505 (1)(b), 505 (1)(C), 506, 153-B (1)(C) of the IPC.

Since then he has been in jail, and his multiple bail applications were rejected by the High Court. While rejecting his previous bail plea, Justice Sanjay Dwivedi of the High Court had made a long observation, which read — “It is noticed that it has become a fashion for some public leaders to seek popularity of the followers without caring for the consequence of deliverance. This practice is not only belittling the image of public leaders in the society but also becoming a cause of increase in criminality in politics.”

While addressing a gathering of tribals in his home town on December 11, Pateria had said, “Modi will end elections as he will continue to divide people on the basis of caste and religion. He is a threat to the Indian Constitution. If you want to save the Constitution, be ready to kill him.”
