    HDFC Bank logs 19 pc growth in net profit, proposes Rs 19 dividend

    Chennai: Private sector HDFC Bank Ltd on Saturday said it had closed FY23 with a 19.3 per cent increase in net profit and the Board has proposed a dividend of Rs 19 per share.

    The HDFC Bank said it had closed FY23 with a net profit of Rs 44,107.7 crore (previous year Rs 36,961.33 crore) on a total income of Rs 192,800.4 crore (Rs 157,263 crore).

    Net revenues (net interest income plus other income) for the year ended March 31, 2023 were Rs 118,057.1 crore, as against Rs 101,519.5 crore for the year ended March 31, 2022.

    The company’s provisions for FY23 stood at Rs 11,919.67 crore (Rs 15,061.83 crore).

    While the gross non-performing asset (GNPA) as on 31.3.2023 stood at Rs 18,019.03 crore (Rs 16,140.96 crore) the net NPA as on that date was at Rs 4,368.43 crore (Rs 4.407.68 crore).

    The Board of Directors at its meeting held on April 15, 2023, proposed a dividend of, 19.00 per share (Rs 15.50 per share).

    The Bank’s total Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) as per Basel III guidelines was at 19.3 per cent as on March 31, 2023 (18.9 per cent as on March 31, 2022) as against a regulatory requirement of 11.7 per cent which includes Capital Conservation Buffer of 2.5 per cent, and an additional requirement of 0.2 per cent on account of the Bank being identified as a Domestic Systemically Important Bank (D-SIB), HDFC Bank said.

This varies from bank to bank. For every cash transaction, you will receive Rs 8 and for every non-cash transaction, you will get Rs 2. This earning will begin only after the ATM is deployed and functional.

    Hyderabad: HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited was asked to pay Rs 45,00,000 by the state Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission on account of service deficiency.

    Monica Khanna, a resident of Narayanguda along with her husband, Nitin Khanna obtained an online HDFC Life Click to Protect insurance policy in 2014 from the company by paying a premium of Rs 16983 and thereafter paid the subsequent premium from 2014 to 2018.

    Nitin was admitted to Global Hospitals in 2018 after he suffered health issues and later passed away leaving behind the complainant, two daughters and his mother.

    Monica then claimed insurance by furnishing all the relevant documents which got rejected by the firm that also discarded the reviews submitted by her.

    She then resorted to a complaint against the company for deficiency of service and filed a prayer to direct the company to pay Rs 45,00,000 towards the sum assured under the policy.

    However, the company filed its written version contending that they repudiated the claim based on the investigation report on the ground of non-disclosure of pre-existing diseases such as diabetes, autoimmune hepatitis with jaundice, and Wilson’s Disease, which the deceased was suffering from.

    Later, the Forum directed HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited to pay the assured sum with an interest of 12 percent per annum from the date of claim till actual payment and a sum of Rs 1,00,000 towards compensation for mental agony and costs of Rs 10,000 within a period of 45 days.

    A sum of Rs 1,00,000 towards compensation for mental agony and costs of Rs 10,000 within a period of 45 days was also slapped on the insurance firm.

    New Delhi: A special CBI court in Pune on Friday awarded three-year rigorous imprisonment to two HDFC Bank officials for demanding bribe of Rs two lakh for sanction and disbursement of a loan amount of Rs 99 lakh.

    The court awarded jail term to Nitin Nikam, then relationship manager (retail agri), and Ganesh Dhaiygude, then rural sales executive of the bank, along with a fine of Rs 60,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively.

    The CBI had registered the case on July 30, 2020 against Nikam on a complaint that he was demanding a bribe of Rs 2,70,000 from the complainant for sanction and disbursement of a loan amount of Rs 99 lakh from HDFC Bank, Baramati Branch, Pune.

    Later, the bribe was negotiated to Rs 2.25 lakh, of which an amount of Rs 2 lakh was to be given initially. Nikam sent his junior Dhaiygude to collect the bribe from the complainant.

    The CBI laid a trap and caught Dhaiygude red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs 2 lakh from the complainant.

    Both the accused were arrested and searches were conducted at the premises of the accused which led to the recovery of incriminating documents.

    After investigation, a chargesheet was filed on December 18, 2020 against both the accused before the special judge, CBI cases, Pune.

    The trial court found both the accused guilty and convicted them.
