Maharashtra: Muslim siblings harassed by three men, minor brother hanged to death

In a heartbreaking incident, a 15-year-old Muslim boy was allegedly hanged to death after he and his sister were harassed in Beed district of Maharashtra.
The incident came to light on Wednesday. In a complaint filed by the deceased – Hafiz Murtaza Shaikh’s – parents, it is stated that Hafiz and his sister had gone to collect firewood when they were surrounded by three men who started harassing and beating them.
Somehow, the sister managed to escape and get help for her brother. However, when she returned it was too late as Hafiz’s lifeless body was found hanging from a tree.

Siasat.com contacted Beed police who said that Hafiz’s autopsy report stated that he died by hanging. When asked if Hafiz’s death was part of a religious hate crime, the police officer denied it. “It is too early to comment on the case as of now as the investigation is in its initial stages,” Siasat.com was told.

Bhopal: Interfaith duo on bike harassed; girl’s niqab pulled down

An interfaith couple in Madhya Pradesh who were travelling on their bike was halted and heckled by some men on March 26.
The incident took place in Bhopal’s Karond, where the couple, reportedly a Muslim woman and a Hindu man were harassed and shamed publicly for travelling and being a purported couple.
In a video which is doing rounds on social media, some men can be seen cordoning off the motorcycle of a couple and questioning their morality.
The man recording the video forcefully pulls down the girl’s niqaab (veil) stating that he will have to use force against her if she doesn’t reveal her face.
In the video, the man also publicises the locality the man and the woman belong to alongside their religion.
The man alleges that the Hindu man had taken the woman to an OYO (room).
An interfaith couple was allegedly harassed on Mar 26 at Bhopal’s Karond area.
The girl was forced to uncover her face on camera in a bid to shame her for being with a Hindu partner.
Who are these custodians of morality? Society doesn’t need a Muslim version of Bajrang Dal !

Man alleges few drunk passengers harassed others in Vistara flight

New Delhi: Unruly behaviour by some passengers inside the flight has refused to cease. In a recent such instance, a man complained of a few drunk passengers who were allegedly harassing others, including some women in a Vistara flight.
“Today travelled with Vistara UK256. And faced one of the worst experiences. Few passengers were totally drunk and harassing Ladies and other people Still they gave more drink. Crew: Shreya, Chaitali, charles didn’t control and ignored the situation,” said a passenger on Twitter handle Bhavitals.
“Instead of teaching lessons to such passengers they were totally ignored. Vistara is famous for premium service but today I lost #vistara. And during offboarding instead of being serious about the situation, the crew were laughing and saying “uska(drunk)to pent nikal gaya tha,” the passenger tweeted on March 12.
Responding to the tweets, the airline said, “Our crew is trained to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone on board. This sounds like an unforeseen event. We do not condone such behaviour and absolutely give our best to provide a comfortable journey to our customers.”
In the last two years since 2021, including the current year, a total of 139 incidents of unruly behaviour were reported to DGCA by various airlines.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the civil aviation safety regulator, has issued Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR), Section 3- Air Transport, Series M, Part VI titled ‘Handling of unruly/disruptive passengers’ in order to ensure safety of the aircraft/persons/property on board and maintain good order and discipline on board the aircraft.

Harassed by senior, Telangana PG medico attempts suicide

Hyderabad: Harassed by a senior, a post graduate student of a government-run medical college in Telangana attempted suicide by administering a lethal injection to herseld.
The first year Post Graduate (MD) student in the department of Anaesthesia of the Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) in Warangal took the extreme step at the MGM Hospital while she was on duty on Wednesday.
She was found unconscious around 6.30 a.m. and was admitted to the emergency ward where CPR was administered. As her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to Hyderabad.
The student was admitted to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and her condition is stated to be critical.
Her father Narendra broke down while talking to media persons at NIMS. He also slammed the management of the college for not taking any action on her complaint.
He said a senior student had been harassing his daughter since November last year and though the issue was brought to the notice of higher officials of KMC, no action was taken.
Narendra, who works as Assistant Sub-Inspector in Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Warangal, claimed that her daughter sought the support of her fellow students but they backed out, saying they have to study another two years in the same college.
The girl’s father demanded that the college management take strong action against the student who was harassing her.

Karnataka: Harassed by colleague, dentist from Lucknow dies by suicide

Bengaluru: A female dentist from Lucknow died by suicide in Bengaluru after being constantly harassed by a colleague at a hospital here, police said.
The victim worked at the MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital.
According to the police, she was being pestered by her colleague, identified as Sumit who worked in the same hospital.
It is alleged that Sumit had forced the victim to marry him and also compelled her to consume alcohol and smoke.
The accused was also pestering the deceased to give him money. But she turned down all his requests, the police said.
Enraged by this, Sumit allegedly spread rumors about the victim’s character at the hospital, following which she took the drastic step.
The incident had taken place on January 25 and the Sanjaynagar police are investigating the case.

UP: Korean women harassed, accused of being missionaries by Hindutva workers

Two young Korean women from Delhi who were visiting Meerut, Uttar Pradesh to meet a friend were harassed by right-wing workers over their religious identities.
They were visiting Chaudhary Charan Singh University where their friend is a student.
A video has surfaced where the women are seen trying to get away from a few men who question them about their ‘motive’.
One of them is heard saying, “Ishwar bus ram hai, aur koi ishwar nahi hai (There is only one God who is Ram and no other).”
The speaker then labels the women as “Christians missionaries.”
“Yeh yahan Christians missionaries hain jo idhar aana cha rahe hai (They are Christians missionaries who want to come here),” one of them can be heard saying.
The Meerut police released a statement over the issue stating, “The video is shown in such a way as if the concerned lady in the video is propagating a religion. This is however not true and is based on false assumptions.”
