HAL hands over 100th Su-30 MKI ROH aircraft to IAF

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Union Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane on Friday inaugurated the third LCA production line and also handed over the 100th Sukhoi-30 MKI ROH aircraft to Air Vice Marshal Sarin at HAL’s Nashik Division.

The Signal Out Certificate (SOC) of the 100th ROH aircraft was handed over by Saket Chaturvedi, CEO (MiG Complex), HAL, to Air Vice Marshal Sarin in the presence of HAL CMD C.B.Ananthakrishnan and other senior officials.

The Defence Secretary lauded HAL’s efforts in taking up the challenge of setting up an ROH facility for Su-30 MKI and also for establishing a new production line for LCA manufacturing.

    MS Education Academy

Stating that HAL has been fulfilling the needs of the country’s security, Aramane said, “The government has come out with several ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ policies, and that puts HAL in a very important position. HAL will be producing more in the coming years. Build more systems, come out with new concepts, new platforms for future growth.”

He also urged HAL to take up new initiatives to aggressively compete in the defence market and look into new areas like unmanned vehicles as the country is in need of these advanced systems. He emphasised on initiatives, innovation, excellence and focus on performance.

Aramane also visited the LCA Assembly Complex, Su-30 ROH Flight Hangar and Final Assembly Hangar.

C.B. Ananthakrishnan, CMD, HAL, said, “The new production line will enable the company to enhance LCA MK1A production capacity from 16 to 24 aircraft per year. HAL’s Nashik Division has achieved peak overhaul capacity of 20 Su-30 aircraft per year despite having supply chain issues in the current geopolitical situations.”

HAL has already set up two LCA manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru.

HAL’s Nashik Division set up the Su-30 MKI Repair and Overhaul (ROH) facility in 2014 to meet the operational requirements of the IAF.

Having gained experience from manufacturing MiG-series and Su30-MKI aircraft and subsequent overhaul of MiG-series aircraft, HAL successfully mastered the technology with valuable support from the IAF, regulatory bodies and private industries.

Several HAL sister divisions are involved in the ROH activities. The company plans to reduce the dependency on OEM by indigenising majority of components required for ROH within the next 3-5 years.

China: FM hits back at Cong, says Nehru had washed his hands off north-east

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday hit back at the Congress questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “silence” on Chinese actions on the border, saying the country’s first PM Jawaharlal Nehru had washed his hands off north-east.

She said that in 1962, the entire north-east was “left to meet their own fate” and Nehru had washed his hands off the region.

“We have stopped Chinese from coming into Arunachal Pradesh. Our action speaks for it. So they (Congress) can go on saying ‘Oh, Prime Minister doesn’t speak. I want him (Rahul Gandhi) to please check up on what their first Prime Minister, our first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had said. He washed his hands off (north-east)”, Sitharaman said.

    MS Education Academy

She was responding to questions at a press conference here.

“If you travel to Arunachal Pradesh and some parts of Assam, people themselves will say. The people of Arunachal Pradesh at the ground kept steadily with India and every Chinese had to go away,” the Union Minister said.

The Congress took strong objection on Tuesday to China renaming several places in Arunachal Pradesh, and charged it is the result of Modi’s “clean chit” to the neighbouring country and his “eloquent silence” on Chinese actions at the border.

India outrightly rejected the renaming, asserting that the state is an integral part of India and assigning “invented” names does not alter this reality.

New Delhi’s reaction came in response to Beijing announcing Chinese names for 11 more places in Arunachal Pradesh, which the neighbouring country claims as southern part Tibet.

Telangana: Sharmila invites other parties to join hands against BRS

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Yuvajana Sramika Rythu (YSR) Telangana party chief Y S Sharmila on Sunday said that there is a historic necessity to set aside political differences and demand justice from the insincere and insensitive KCR-led state government that failed to release job notifications in the last nine years.

Sharmila wrote to opposition party leaders of Telangana requesting for a joint fight against the government for the sake of the unemployed youth.

The letters were addressed to Revanth Reddy (Congress), Bandi Sanjay Kumar (BJP), Kasani Gnaneshwar (TDP), Kodandaram (Telangana Jana Samithi), Manda Krishna Madiga (Mahajana Socialist Party), Tammineni Veerabhadram (Communist Party of India (Marxist)), Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao (Communist Party of India), Shanker Goud (Janasena), and Asaduddin Owaisi (AIMIM).

    MS Education Academy

In her letter, she said, “Your party’s fight against KCR government’s attitude towards the unemployed is commendable. Added to his failures is the TSPSC paper leakage scam that has derailed the hopes of the youth who were waiting for the notification for ages.”

“Your fight in this direction has been crucial and we always extend our solidarity. While we do this, we also feel the time has come where we all join together and form a Joint Action Committee to wage an intense battle against the BRS rule,” said Sharmila.

She said that while the opposition parties were fighting individually so far, starting now the parties must join hands for the future of the state and its youth.

“From Biswal Committee’s recommendation to fill up 1.91 lakh vacancies, to ensuring fair investigation in the TSPSC paper leak, together we have to put pressure for the sake of the youth whose sacrifices had paved the way for the formation of Telangana,” she wrote in her letter.

  • 30 Years After Student’s Death in Fake Encounter, Court Hands Life Term to Retired Policeman – Kashmir News

    [ad_1]

30 Years After Student’s Death in Fake Encounter, Court Hands Life Term to Retired Policeman

Over three decades after the death of a 21-year-old man in a fake encounter here, a local court on Friday sentenced a retired sub inspector to life imprisonment. Additional Sessions Judge Pashupatinath Mishra on Wednesday held Yudhisther Singh, the then sub inspector, guilty of killing Mukesh Johri alias Lali, on July 23, 1992 in Bada Bazar area of the city.

The court awarded life imprisonment to Singh on Friday and also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on him, government counsel Ashutosh Dubey said.

It said the fine amount will be provided to relatives of the victim.

According to police, Singh, who was posted at Thana Kotwali, claimed to have killed Lali in an encounter in self-defence. The then SI had filed a case of robbery and murderous attack against the victim.

In a report submitted by Singh, he had alleged that while returning after buying household items from Bada Bazar on the fateful day, he saw three people having a dispute with a salesman of the Pink City Wine Shop and anticipating robbery, he challenged the accused and one of them opened fire on him, but he escaped narrowly.

The SI had said that if he had not fired, the miscreants would have killed him. He said he fired at one of them with his official revolver due to which he fell down bleeding.

Singh, however, was accused of killing Lali, a second-year BA student, by the victim’s family.

Chandra Johri, the mother of the deceased, had taken refuge in the Supreme Court to file a report against Singh and others, and later the investigation was handed over to the CB-CID. “In the inquiry, it was found that Singh was not on duty at the time of the incident and misused his official revolver. The then SI had said that Lali was shot from the front, but the post-mortem examination revealed that the bullet was found in the back,” Dubey said, adding that there was no encounter and Singh deliberately fired at the victim with the intention of killing him.

On November 20, 1997, an FIR for murder was registered against Singh on the complaint letter of Inspector Sheeshpal Singh of the CB-CID.

  • Aggregators can’t wash hands off truant ‘delivery partners’: Legal experts

Aggregators can’t wash hands off truant ‘delivery partners’: Legal experts

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: In February this year, Delhi’s Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission issued a notice to delivery company Dunzo for alleged sexual harassment by its delivery partner, who showed up drunk at a womans address at midnight and later even threatened her over WhatsApp to withdrew her complaint.

The bench of Raj Kumar Chauhan and Dr Rajendra Dhar issued a notice to Dunzo following a complaint seeking Rs 50 lakh damages for negligent hiring and alleged sexual harassment by a delivery partner.

The complainant Rahella Khan was represented by lawyers Abhishek Yadav and Ankita Wadhwa.

In her complaint, Khan had stated that she had placed an order and a Dunzo delivery partner had showed up in a drunk condition at her address at midnight and abused her. After two days, he sent her a text message asking her to withdraw her complaint.

Khan also alleged that the man then harassed her and sent her murder and rape threats. He even used extremely profane language. The man even sent her photo of some girls which he claimed to have murdered while warning her that she would be next.

The complainant had even sent a legal notice to Dunzo, who in response, blamed her for contacting the delivery partner directly.

Not getting any response or action from Dunzo, Khan had filed a police complaint on which an FIR was also registered.

“Such behaviour amounts to ‘deficiency in service’ and amounts to a ‘consumer dispute’ under the Consumer Protection Act, which was rightly raised before an appropriate Consumer Commission,” Gurmeet Nehra, legal scholar and Member, Supreme Court Bar Association, said.

“This is welcome decision coming from Delhi State Consumer Dispute Resolution Commission to award damages of Rs 50 lakh to meet the mental agony and deficiency in services.”

This is not the first case. In January this year, a three-member bench of Dr Rajender Dhar, Ritu Garudia, and Raj Kumar Chauhan of a District Consumer Forum in Delhi had issued notice to Zomato on a complaint alleging sexual harassment by company’s delivery partner.

The complainant, in her plea, stated that she had suffered enormous trauma in the form of sexual assault, physical harassment, and mental and emotional breakdown as a result of grave misconduct by the delivery agent hired by Zomato without a background check.

“Despite the complaints by the complainant, no efforts whatsoever were made to reach out to the complainant or provide the complainant with any resolution or help,” the plea added.

“It takes a lot of courage for the victims of sexual assault to come forward and report the incidence and since Zomato categorically asked to follow up and get back twice the Complainant waited but no heed was ever given,” the plea read.

The plea further stated that the chat window was closed by displaying the issue as ‘resolved’ to create a worrying situation. It was also stated that Zomato’s inaction and willful default towards the complainant, is liable to compensate for the deficiency in services, harassment, time wastage, mental agony, litigation expenses, and immense suffering caused.

According to the plea, the details of the delivery agent provided on the Zomato app and the actual agent who arrived to deliver the food differed. This was discovered later, and no photo was uploaded to the app, which could have aided in the identification of the accused, the complainant stated.

“Sending threatful text messages to the victim who is consumer of their services is a criminal offence under Indian Penal Code. State has rightly lodged FIR and should promptly initiate criminal proceedings against the culprit who intimidates the victim with death and rape threats,” Nehra said.

Furthermore, the plea stated that after receiving a call from the investigation officer requesting the identification of the delivery agent, the complainant went to the Police Station to do the same and identified the delivery boy. Thereafter, the delivery executive admitted to using his brother’s Zomato account to make all of the deliveries, the plea alleged.

The complainant, represented by advocates Pragya Parijat Singh, Harshita, and Shivank, moved the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Delhi (Mehrauli), seeking compensation of Rs 20,00,000 for the agony, trauma, and harassment, both physical and mental, she endured.

Nehra further said: “A crime is an offence against the society and such culprits not only brings bad name to the company but they are threat to peaceful living and law-abiding citizens, specially women and children who are vulnerable sections of society. Such mental agony suffered can not be compensated in terms of money. If no timely action is taken this time against such accused then in future such people can pose serious threat to others.”

The complainant has also sought an unconditional and unqualified apology, by way of writing a letter and acknowledging the omissions on the parts of the opposite parties. Additionally, she has sought direction to them to pay the cost of litigation.

Stricter laws are surely needed but companies should also make sure they follow proper guidelines while hiring employees, say experts.

“There is a concept called master-servant liability. Master-servant liability extends as much as the work. If the servant is doing some work told by the master, during working hours, then the master is liable. But on the other hand, if the intentions were only of the servant’s, that person would be liable for criminal activity and not the company till the time it’s proven that the company was also playing a part in the conspiracy,” Rishabh Raj, a Supreme Court advocate, said.

Raj added: “In the coming era of gig economy and the rise of many delivery companies, there is a need for a law which states exactly who would be liable for such activities. Are we having a character clearance certificate, police verification of the person whom we are hiring, or even their criminal background data and previous job profile. There should be some guidelines made by the government so that these mobile-based delivery companies should be following to verify this person even if they are working for a short term.”

‘Will chop off hands of those who dishonour Hindu daughters’

    [ad_1]

Patna: BJP’s Lok Sabha MP and Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey has said that he will chop the hands of those who dishonour “the daughters belonging to Sanatan Dharma”.

“The daughters of Sanatan Dharma are the daughters of our country. Whoever plays with their honour and dignity, I will chop their hands. Still, if the leaders of the RJD believe that they will give their daughters (for marriage) to people of other communities, they are free to do so. India is a Hindu country and it will remain so,” Choubey said on Saturday.

The Minister’s remarks came a day after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) legislator Bhai Virendra said “daughters of BJP leaders L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi were married to Muslim men”.

Bhai Virendra also said that “BJP leaders should save their daughter from Muslims”.

Reacting to that, Santosh Singh, another BJP leader and an MLC, said: “The RJD leaders have become mentally bankrupt. If any Muslim youth even points any finger towards the daughters of the Hindu community, I will chop their finger.”

  • Power lies in hands of one family: BJP’s DK Aruna hits out at CM KCR

Power lies in hands of one family: BJP’s DK Aruna hits out at CM KCR

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Alleging CM K Chandrashekar Rao of misuse of power, Bharatiya Janata Party National Vice President DK Aruna on Thursday claimed that police cases are being registered against those who stand against the KCR-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi government in Telangana.

“In Telangana, entire power lies in the hands of one family & they (BRS) think that all are like them. Here, police cases are being registered against those who stand against BRS,” D K Aruna claimed.

Aruna said that K Kavitha is staging a protest at Jantar Mantar against the women’s reservation bill on March 10 and here in Telangana, we are also staging a protest at the BJP party office against the “harassment of women” and “ragging of girls” in colleges in the state.

Earlier in the month, Telangana BJP leader N Ramchander Rao said that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao should protect women in his state before her daughter K Kavitha demanded women’s reservation bill for the country.

“It is very surprising that Kavitha speaks of the women reservation bill in the Parliament while her own father has not given a single ministry to a woman in the first term of his tenure.

How is a woman being respected in this state? The woman governor is being humiliated and harassed by their (BRS) government and she (Kavitha) speaks of women’s reservations” he had said.

Aruna accused CM KCR of maintaining silence on the alleged cases of atrocities against women.
“The government is not taking any interest in the welfare of the women who are facing many atrocities. CM doesn’t speak a word or give assurances to them,” Aruna took a dig at the KCR government.

Telangana BJP leader had stated that the decision to protest outside Jantar Mantar on the women’s reservation bill is just an election gimmick and there is nothing more to it.

“This is all just to woo the women voters who will never believe in the BRS party because the majority of the women have suffered, law and order have deteriorated and atrocities against women have increased in the BRS regime,” he had added.
