DC Kupwara Directs Respective Tehsildars, Officials to Record Losses Due to Heavy Rainfall, Hailstorm

Kupwara, May 8 (GNS): In view of inclement weather and intermittent heavy rains and hailstorm in Kupwara district, Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Dr.Doifode Sagar Dattatray has directed all Tehsildars, Revenue Officials and Field functionaries to visit their respective areas, jurisdictions and record/ assess the losses occurred to Agriculture Horticulture fields and other properties.
The DC further directed the respective offices to furnish the report immediately for further process.
The officers and officials concerned were in the meantime directed to remain punctual at their respective postings. (GNS)

Hyderabad to witness intense rainfall, hailstorm today; IMD issues orange alert

Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has issued an orange alert for Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana due to intense rainfall and hailstorm expected on April 27, 2023. After a day’s break, the city is expected to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and hailstorms towards the evening or night.
According to the IMD Hyderabad, all six zones in Hyderabad, namely Charminar, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad, and Serilingampally, are likely to experience a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers.

Neighbouring districts of Hyderabad to witness heavy rainfall, hailstorm
Apart from Hyderabad, other districts of Telangana, including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Siddipet, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, and Mahabubnagar, are also expected to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hailstorm, and gusty winds with heavy rainfall.

The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) has also forecasted light to moderate rainfall in the city today.
However, there will not be a significant difference in temperature in Hyderabad, with the maximum temperature expected to be in the range of 36-40 degrees Celsius.
Power cut, heavy traffic during rainfall
Though rainfall in Hyderabad brings respite from the summer heat, it also possesses a lot of challenges, especially when it comes to power cuts and heavy traffic.
As electrical infrastructure in the city is not always able to handle the heavy rainfall, outages take place that can last for hours.
Another problem that arises during rainfall in Hyderabad is heavy traffic. The city’s roads are often clogged with vehicles, and the situation worsens when it rains. The traffic snarls can cause long delays, making it difficult for people to reach their destinations on time.

In view of the forecast made by both IMD Hyderabad and TSDPS, residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to avoid any unforeseen situations. It is recommended to avoid traveling during the heavy downpour and stay indoors if possible.

Watch: Hailstorm blankets Taif region in Saudi Arabia, disrupts traffic

Riyadh: Heavy snow and hailstorm hit the Saudi city of Taif, on Wednesday, disrupting traffic on the road between Taif province and the town of Hawiyah in Makkah region.
Some motorists stopped to capture what is rare for spring in the Kingdom, with many videos and photos posted on social media platforms.
With the accumulation of hailstones and snow in the streets and sidewalks, the Taif Municipality crews used bulldozers to clean the roads and neighborhoods in record time.

More than 90 teams of municipal workers removed snow and ice to restore traffic flow, as part of its handling of the heavy rains in Taif and its suburbs. High winds, hail and heavy rain combined to reduce visibility for drivers.

Heavy rains fell across the Kingdom this week, as the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued several warnings of thunderstorms in the Makkah region.
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance directed that Eid Al-Fitr prayers be performed in mosques, and not in external chapels in the governorates and cities where rain is expected.
The ministry’s directives came due to the expected rainfall in most regions of the Kingdom on the day of Eid Al-Fitr.

Hailstorm hits parts of Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A hailstorm hit parts of Hyderabad on Monday evening, providing a brief respite to citizens from the sweltering heat.
Some areas in the old city and central parts witnessed hailstorms. Citizens busy for Ramzan shopping in markets around historic Charminar were surprised as the sudden showers brought ice pellets. Roads in a couple of places were covered by a white sheet of hailstones.
Nampally, the High Court, Goshamahal, Begum Bazar and Bahadurpura areas also received hailstorms. People were seen playing with ice pellets.

Some other areas experienced rains with strong winds. Areas like Chanchalguda, Saidabad, Champapet, Koti, Abids, Narayanguda, Himayat Nagar, Liberty, Basheerbagh and Hyderguda saw the rains.
Stagnation of water on roads hit the movement of traffic in some areas. People returning from offices and workplaces were stranded due to unexpected rains.
This is the third time this summer that parts of Telangana have received hailstorms.

Hyderabad may witness rainfall, hailstorm today; IMD issues alert

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has issued a yellow alert for the city as it may witness rainfall and hailstorm today.
All six zones in Hyderabad – Charminar, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad, and Serilingampally – are expected to witness hailstorm towards evening or night. These zones will also witness generally cloudy skies, light to moderate rain or thundershowers, and gusty winds ranging from 40-50 kmph.
IMD Hyderabad forecasts rainfall till March 20
The IMD forecasts that tomorrow, Hyderabad will see generally cloudy skies, light to moderate rain or thundershowers, and gusty winds ranging from 30-40 kmph towards evening or night.
According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at a few places till March 20.
The maximum temperature in the city is expected to be in the range of 29 to 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperatures are likely to be in the range of 19 to 22 degrees Celsius.
Rains in Hyderabad, hailstorm in other Telangana districts
In the past 24 hours, Hyderabad’s Rajendranagar has received the highest rainfall of 20 mm. Other areas that received heavy rainfall include Bahadurpura (16 mm), Serilingampally (12.8 mm), Charminar (11.3 mm), and Nampally (10.8 mm).
In the entire Telangana state, Sangareddy district received the highest rainfall (75 mm) in the past 24 hours. Other districts that received heavy rainfall are Vikarabad (45.8 mm) and Mahabubnagar (42 mm).
Neighbouring areas of Hyderabad and other Telangana districts recently witnessed hailstorm. It has brought the maximum temperature drastically providing relief from the summer heat.

As per TSDPS, the state will continue to witness light to moderate rain or thundershowers till March 20. The maximum temperatures are expected to be in the range of 33 to 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperatures are likely to be in the range of 18 to 22 degrees Celsius.
In view of the forecast made by both IMD Hyderabad and TSDPS, residents are advised to take necessary precautions and plan their travel accordingly.
