AP: TDP workers detained by police in Guntur district

Guntur: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) workers were detained on Saturday for conducting a rally without permission in the Tenali area here, police said.
As part of the Tenali Bandh programme, TDP held a rally in the Tenali area of Guntur District.
Tenali Circle Inspector Koteswarao said, “To control the law and order and to maintain the peace we detained them. Nobody was arrested.”

The rally was organised in a protest of a scuffle between the YSRCP and TDP councillors in a Municipal Council meeting in the Tenali area of the Guntur district on Friday.
TDP councillors had objected to the approval of a single tender for the door-to-door works, and over the matter, a scuffle broke out between TDP and YSRCP councillors at Tenali Municipal Office.
As a result of the scuffle, TDP members held a rally in the Guntur District, and YSR Congress Party members also held a massive protest at Tenali Municipal Office, on Saturday.
Members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) at the rally were stopped because they did not have permission from the authorities for conducting the rally, police said.
TDP members protested against the police action.

The rally was diverted to the other side as it was prevented from entering the market and the protestors were detained.

AP: Pharmacy & Veterans Waiting Hall inaugurated in Guntur

Hyderabad: The newly built Pharmacy and Veterans Waiting Hall at the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic was inaugurated by Telangana and Andhra Pradesh sub-area officiating general officer commanding Brigadier K Somashankar in Guntur on Monday.
Brigadier K Somashankar also paid a visit to the Guntur ex-servicemen’s newly renovated CSD canteen.
While interacting with the veterans, Brigadier K Somashankar gave them the assurance that coordinated efforts are being made to provide services to the Andhra Pradesh Ex-Servicemen through ECHS Polyclinics and CSD Canteen.
Retired officers Brigadier V V Reddy, Major General Ramesh, and other significant senior veterans of Guntur were also present.

Visually impaired girl stabbed to death in Andhra’s Guntur

Amaravati: In a shocking incident, a visually impaired 17-year-old girl was brutally stabbed to death by a rowdy sheeter in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district on Monday.
The incident occurred at Tadepalli, in a locality near the official residence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The accused, identified as Raju, had misbehaved with the girl on Sunday and when the girl complained about this to her parents, they along with some locals pulled him up.
Angry over this, Raju hatched a plan to take revenge.
On Monday, when the girl was alone in her house, the accused barged in and attacked her with a knife. Hearing the victim’s cries, neighbours rushed to her house. The girl, who was bleeding profusely, was taken to the Vijayawada government hospital but succumbed on the way.
Raju, who escaped after killing the girl, has reportedly surrendered before police. The accused has a criminal record and was suspected to be high on ganja at the time of attack.
The victim’s family demanded that the police take strong action against Raju. Some locals alleged that the police failed to check the illegal activities of the criminal elements in the area.
