“The Democrats have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable – indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant Election Interference,” Trump continued.

The only former president to have been indicted, Trump sought to tie the recent investigation to the 2016 campaign and the events of his subsequent presidency.

“You remember it just like I do: Russia, Russia, Russia; the Mueller Hoax; Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine; Impeachment Hoax 1; Impeachment Hoax 2; the illegal and unconstitutional Mar-a-Lago raid; and now this,” Trump said.

Trump repeated, without evidence, another frequent refrain about the “weaponization” of the justice system and continued his verbal assault on Bragg, accusing the district attorney of “doing Joe Biden’s dirty work.”

He finished with a rallying call to MAGA voters amid his campaign for the presidency in 2024.

“So our Movement, and our Party – united and strong – will first defeat Alvin Bragg, and then we will defeat Joe Biden, and we are going to throw every last one of these Crooked Democrats out of office so we can MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he said.

In a follow-up post on Truth Social, Trump lashed out at “Thugs and Radical Left Monsters.” In all caps, he further called the indictment an attack on “our once free and fair elections” and the U.S. a “third world nation.”

In a further post, the former president said he “cannot get a fair trial in New York.”

    trump legal troubles 28764

NEW YORK — The Manhattan grand jury examining Donald Trump’s alleged role in a hush money payment to a porn star isn’t expected to hear evidence in the case for the next month largely due to a previously scheduled hiatus, according to a person familiar with the proceedings.

The break would push any indictment of the former president to late April at the earliest, although it is possible that the grand jury’s schedule could change. In recent weeks, the Manhattan district attorney’s office hasn’t convened the panel on certain days. But it is District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s prerogative to ask the grand jury to reconvene if prosecutors want the panel to meet during previously planned breaks.

The grand jury, which heard testimony in the Trump case on Monday, isn’t meeting Wednesday and is expected to examine evidence in a separate matter Thursday, the person said. The grand jury, which typically meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, is scheduled to consider another case next week on Monday and Wednesday, the person said, and isn’t expected to meet Thursday due to the Passover holiday.

Saudi Arabia: 120 prayer areas prepared in Grand Mosque’s new expansion

    [ad_1]

Riyadh: At least 120 prayer areas in the new Saudi expansion of the Grand Mosque in Makkah are prepared to ensure a comfortable visit for pilgrims during the holy month of Ramzan, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

This comes as the General Presidency of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque are preparing several plans to facilitate the movement of visitors to the Grand Mosque in Makkah in the third Saudi expansion.

There are 120 prayer areas equipped with a field services system and human cadres in the new expansion.

The presidency has allocated a number of doors for entry and exit.

From the north side, worshippers can enter the prayer area through gates; 104; 106; 112; 173; 175; and 176 and from the western side, gates 114. 116; 119; 121; And 123 will remain open, so are gates 162; 165; and 169 from the east side.

Walid Al-Masoudi, Director of the General Administration for the third Saudi Expansion of the Grand Mosque, said that the dedicated doors facilitate the arrival of worshipers and help them on their way to the prayer rooms on the ground and first floors.

The roof level will be used for the first time, and in the event that the interior spaces of the Grand Mosque are full, the northern and western courtyards and parts of the service buildings will be used as it expands to accommodate more visitors.

The presidency also provides basic services in all available places, such as 72 toilets for people with special needs.

Moreover, 675 marble stations (mashrabiya), 362 escalators and 26 elevators are available for pilgrims and worshipers to facilitate movement around the mosque.

All prayer areas of the mosque were provided with 22,000 carpets and more than 12,000 containers of Zamzam water.

Judge says Pence must testify to Jan. 6 grand jury

    election 2024 pence 90461

Pence has indicated he’s open to answering certain categories of questions related to Trump’s effort to overturn the 2020 election despite losing the race to Joe Biden. But he has argued that the vice president’s unusual role — both a top member of the executive branch and president of the Senate — entitles him to immunity typically afforded to members of Congress. He has indicated he’s willing to take the fight to the Supreme Court if he doesn’t like the outcome.

CNN and ABC first reported on Boasberg’s decision to require Pence to testify on some aspects of the Jan. 6 probe.

It’s a complex argument with extraordinary ramifications, both for the investigation into potential crimes by Trump in his bid to seize a second term, and for the separation of powers that define the federal government. Pence’s argument has been largely untested in courts, but the Justice Department has, on at least three occasions, argued that vice presidents should enjoy so-called “speech or debate” immunity that largely protects members of Congress from answering in court for their legislative acts.

Pence did not adopt Trump’s separate argument — that his assertion of executive privilege bars Pence’s potential testimony. Multiple courts have rejected claims of executive privilege and attorney-client privilege amid his efforts to prevent witnesses from testifying before Smith’s grand juries. One of those grand juries is probing Trump’s handling of classified records he retained at his Mar-a-Lago estate after leaving office.

Legal scholars generally agree that Pence has a legitimate case that his role as president of the Senate may warrant immunity from testimony sought by the executive branch. The federal appeals court in Washington is expected to rule imminently on a separate effort by Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) to cite the Constitution’s “speech or debate” clause to prevent Smith from accessing his cell phone data. U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell — who handed the chief’s gavel to Boasberg earlier this month — rejected most of Perry’s claims in a December ruling she recently unsealed.

  • If Moon Sighted On April 20, People To Go For Qaza Fasting After Eid: Grand Mufti

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir’s Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Tuesday said that Shab-e-Qadr will be observed on April 17 while as Eid moon will be sighted on April 20 and in case moon is sighted on April 20, people will have to offer Qaza fasting of a day.

In his statement to the press following a lengthy meeting of Ulema which included prominent figures such as Maulana Rahmatullah Qasmi, Ghulam Rasool Hami, and Prof Muhammad Tayib Kamili, as well as Moulana Aga Syed Al Hassan Mousavi, Ghulam Muhammad Bhat, Moulana Fayaz Ahmed Rizvi, Masroor Abbas Ansari, and others, the Grand Mufti declared: “April 17th will mark the observance of Shab-e-Qadr. On April 20th, the moon sighting will take place, and if the moon is sighted, individuals will be required to observe one day of Qaza fasting after Eid.”

He said any decision regarding Eid will be made public after thorough consultation with Ulema. “MeT department will also be consulted before any announcement,” he said.

It is worth noting that there was a dispute regarding the start of fasting in Kashmir. The Grand Mufti had recommended that people begin fasting from Friday, while the majority of individuals had already started fasting from Thursday.

The Grand Mufti had explained that he had not received any testimony about sighting the Ramadhan crescent on Wednesday evening. Additionally, he called for the release of Mirwaiz Moulvi Umar Farooq, Moulana Abdur Rashid Dawodi, and other Ulema who are currently detained in different prisons.(KNO)

Former National Enquirer publisher testifies before Trump grand jury

Monday was the first time in a week that the grand jury heard evidence in the Trump case. The panel was called off Wednesday and then examined an unrelated matter Thursday. The delay prompted a fiery response from Trump, leading some Democrats to rally around Bragg on Monday morning.

Bragg’s investigation is centered on a $130,000 payment facilitated by Trump’s former fixer, Michael Cohen, and made to the porn star, Stormy Daniels. The adult entertainer alleged she had an affair with Trump and considered selling her story to the National Enquirer, at a time when Pecker was the tabloid’s publisher, according to federal prosecutors. Instead, Cohen paid Daniels directly, a step he told a court he took “in coordination with and at the direction of” Trump.

Trump has denied the affair and any wrongdoing with the payment.

Pecker previously testified before the Manhattan grand jury examining the Trump investigation, according to a person familiar with the matter. It wasn’t clear why he was called back to provide further testimony. Before the publisher, the grand jury heard from Robert Costello, a former legal adviser to Cohen, who is the prosecution’s central witness in the case.

Costello said at a press conference after his testimony that he sought to discredit Cohen while speaking to the grand jury.

A Manhattan DA spokesperson declined to comment.

NEW YORK — The Manhattan grand jury hearing evidence in the criminal investigation of Donald Trump’s alleged role in hush money payment to Stormy Daniels is evaluating an unrelated case Thursday, according to a person familiar with the matter, making any potential indictment of the former president unlikely before next week.

It wasn’t immediately clear why the grand jury wouldn’t hear evidence in the Trump case on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the panel was adjourned, POLITICO reported. The grand jury typically meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and it heard from at least one witness in the Trump case earlier this week.
