Riyadh: For the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a child care facility centre has been opened in the vicinity of the Grand Mosque, Makkah, to take care of the children while parents perform Umrah, local media reported.

This comes as part of the qualitative services provided to visitors and Umrah performers coming to the Grand Mosque.

According to the Arabic Daily Sabq, the child care facility centre was opened in the middle of Ramzan and provides its services to worshippers with the support and supervision of the relevant government agencies.

    MS Education Academy

The centre looks after children under the age of six while their parents perform the Umrah, or lesser pilgrimage, and other religious rituals at the Grand Mosque.

Operating around the clock, it can host up to 80 children. It includes game areas and bedrooms and is supervised by professionals.

The first three hours of the service are offered free of charge.

Ramzan is usually the peak of Umrah season at the Grand Mosque, especially in the last ten days of the month, which is expected to end on Friday.

  • Makkah’s Grand Mosque floor is always cool, ever wondered why? Know here

Makkah’s Grand Mosque floor is always cool, ever wondered why? Know here

    [ad_1]

Riyadh: The General Authority for the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia has revealed that the reason behind the cold floors of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, even as summer temperatures rise to about 50 degrees Celsius, is due to the type of marble used in the floors.

The authority said in a statement, on Tuesday, that the marble used in the floors is a special type that is imported, especially from the Greek island of Thassos. It is characterized by the fact that it reflects light and heat.

The characteristics of this marble make it a suitable choice for the spaces of the Two Holy Mosques and the millions of pilgrims, visitors and Umrah performers that receive it every year, as it is characterized by its extreme coldness, despite the extreme heat that may reach 50 degrees Celsius in the summer.

    MS Education Academy

The undersecretary of the President of the Two Holy Mosques for Technical, Operational and Maintenance Affairs, Fares Al-Saadi, explained that this type of marble works to reflect light and heat, and it is rare, and the thickness of the marble used reaches five centimetres.

This type is distinguished from others by the fact that it absorbs moisture through tiny pores during the night, and during the day it excretes what it absorbed at night, and this is what makes it always cold despite high temperatures.

It is noteworthy that this marble has been extracted from the island of Thassos in the Aegean Sea since ancient times, and the Greeks were among the first peoples to discover marble and develop its uses throughout the ages.

Saudi Arabia imports Thassos marble in the form of huge rock pieces, and they are processed in private Saudi factories under the supervision of qualified technical cadres to cut the rocks into slabs of specific sizes and with special standards.

Saudi: Several entrances, exits opened in Grand Mosque amid surge of pilgrims

    [ad_1]

Riyadh: The authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) have opened more entry and exit points at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, to reduce crowding and deal with the increase in the number of worshippers during Ramzan, local media reported.

The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques provided five other entrances to the chapel on the ground floor at the site, an entrance to the Ajyad Bridge, three other entrances to the stairs, and another entrance to the places of prayer on the first floor and the surface.

“The entrances and exits have been opened to prevent over-crowding inside the prayer areas,” head of the Worshipper Crowd Department Khalaf Al Otaibi was quoted as saying by Arabic daily Okaz.

    MS Education Academy

He added that when the prayer places inside the mosque reach their full capacity, the worshipers are directed to the chapel of the third expansion of the mosque as well as its outer courtyards.

Due to an increase in the number of worshipers at the mosque, home to the Kaaba, the Saudi General Directorate of Public Security on Friday advised worshipers to perform their weekly noon prayers at other mosques near their homes to help ease crowding at the holy site.

The month of Ramzan usually marks the peak of the Umrah season at the Grand Mosque.

In recent months, Saudi Arabia has revealed a large number of facilities for Muslims wishing to come to the country to perform Umrah.

  • Pence will not appeal ruling requiring him to testify to Jan. 6 grand jury

Pence will not appeal ruling requiring him to testify to Jan. 6 grand jury

    [ad_1]

    ap23046817839382

Trump and Pence had both challenged the subpoena — but on entirely distinct grounds. Trump contended that his conversations with Pence in the weeks preceding the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol should be shielded by investigators because of executive privilege, which is intended to preserve the confidentiality of some presidential communications. Trump has lost a series of sealed executive privilege fights in recent months, failing to convince federal district and appellate judges to support his privilege assertions.

Pence, however, had argued that the subpoena for his testimony was problematic for a different reason: his role as president of the Senate. The Constitution, he argued, makes the vice president a hybrid creature of the executive and legislative branch. Pence’s role on Jan. 6 — to preside over Congress’ counting of electoral votes — fell squarely within his congressional duties, entitling him to the protection of the Constitution’s “speech or debate” clause, which protects lawmakers from criminal inquiries that pertain to their official responsibilities.

As a result, Pence’s attorney contended that Pence should be shielded from the special counsel’s subpoena for any testimony related to his Jan. 6 role. Though the precise contours of Boasberg’s ruling remain unknown, a person familiar with the decision indicated that it agreed with aspects of Pence’s argument.

Boasberg found — for the first time in American history — that vice presidents do enjoy some congressional immunity for their role as president of the Senate. Pence allies say Baosberg’s decision was narrower than they preferred — opening Pence up to questions about his legislative duties they had hoped would be shielded — but they have largely treated it as a victory on the principle Pence set out to defend.

“In the Court’s decision, that principle prevailed,” O’Malley said. “The Court’s landmark and historic ruling affirmed for the first time in history that the Speech or Debate Clause extends to the Vice President of the United States.”

Though Pence’s decision means he’s likely to testify, Trump may still opt to appeal Boasberg’s ruling that executive privilege does not block Pence’s testimony.

Pence has long signaled he was willing to testify to the grand jury about topics that weren’t shielded by privilege. Smith is likely to press Pence about Trump’s weeks-long bid to convince him to single-handedly derail the transfer of power by refusing to count Joe Biden’s electoral votes on Jan. 6. Pence’s refusal to do so drew Trump’s fury and caused a mob that had gathered outside the Capitol that day to hunt for the vice president.

  • Grand Mufti Sets Sadaqat-Ul-Fitr At Rs 65 Per Person

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR:  According to the Grand Mufti Nasir-ul Islam of Jammu and Kashmir, the Sadaqat-ul-Fitr per person for this Ramadan has been fixed at Rs 65, and there is no issue with paying more if the individual has the financial capability to do so. Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam further stated that the amount for Sadaqat-ul-Fitr was determined through a thorough consensus with the Ulema from both the Kashmir and Jammu regions. He also emphasized that it is compulsory for every individual to pay Sadaqat-ul-Fitr at the rate of Rs 65 during this holy month.

“One organization Saut Ul-Awliya has announced Rs 70 in their individual capacity as Sadaqat-ul Fitr. If any person wants to pay Rs 70 or more than that, there is no harm as rewards will be more,” the Grand Mufti said.

Mufti Nasir-ul Islam emphasized that Sadaqat-ul-Fitr must be given to those who are underprivileged, impoverished, homeless, orphaned, or destitute, and not to Masjids, Shrines, Khanqahs, or any other religious organization. Its objective is to act as a tax on the fasting individual. The fasting of a person in the month of Ramadan will remain suspended between the earth and the heavens and will not ascend to the Divine Presence until the Fitr amount is paid.”

In regards to Zakat, Mufti Nasir explained that Zakat is payable at a rate of 2.5% on the wealth one possesses above the nisab. The nisab is equivalent to 85 grams of 24k gold and represents the minimum amount of wealth that one must possess before they become obligated to pay zakat. (KNO)
