  • Govt Likely To Impose Property Tax From April 1

    SRINAGAR: The Property Tax in the Urban Local Bodies of Jammu and Kashmir will be levied from April 1, 2023 as decision in this regard has been approved by the government.

    However, what can be termed as some relief to the targeted tax payers, the Property Tax will be levied at half of the proposed formula for the same.

    According to the reports appearing in th media the approval has been granted to the proposal with the direction that the proposed Property Tax, which will take effect on April 1, 2023, shall be levied at half of the proposed formula.

    SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday announced the conferment of the Jammu and Kashmir Government Awards, 2023. These awards are conferred each year on the eve of Republic Day in recognition of contributions made by outstanding achievers in different fields viz; Achievements in the field of Literature, performing Art, excellence in Art & Crafts, Social Reforms and Empowerment, Meritorious Public Service, Lifetime Achievement in any other field, Award for Outstanding Sports Persons, Outstanding Media Persons and Outstanding Industrial Entrepreneurship.

    This year, the government has conferred the award in the category of bravery to Deepak Kumar (Posthumously) S/o Rajinder Kumar R/o Dangri, Rajouri, Saroj Bala W/o Late Rajinder Kumar R/o  Dangri, Rajouri.

    In the field of Literature, the Jammu and Kashmir Government Award, 2022 for Literature have been conferred on Dhian Singh (Writer), Dr. Neelam Sarin (Hindi/Dogri Writer), Rajeshwar Singh Raju (Hindi/Dogri Writer), Ghulam Nabi Haleem (Kashmiri Author), Nisar Rahi (Pahari Writer).

    The award in the category of Performing Arts have been conferred to Vidyut Jamwal (Film Actor), Aditya Dhar (Director), Mir Sarwar (Film Actor), Iqbal Khan (Film Actor), Noor Mohammad (Kashmiri Folk Singer).

    Ravinder Jamwal (Sculptor) has been conferred with award in the category of Arts & Crafts.

    Ravinder Pandita (Save Sharda Committee) has been conferred with award in the category of Social Reforms & Empowerment.

    Award for Meritorious Public Service have been conferred to Finance Department, General Administration Department,PW(R&B) Department,Revenue Department, Information Technology Department, Department of Forest,Ecology & Environment, Tourism Department, Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department,J&K Public Service Commission,J&K Sports Council, District Administration, Shopian.District Administration, Ganderbal,District Administration, Kupwara,District Administration, Pulwama,District Administration, Jammu, District Administration, Udhampur, District Administration, Doda, Municipal Committee, Dooru-Verinag.

    Award for Lifetime Achievements have been conferred to Bashir Bhaderwahi (Kashmiri/ Urdu Writer), Ustad Mohammad Yaqoob Sheikh (Kashmiri Sufi Classical Maestro), Vijay Kumar Sambyal (Indian Classical Maestro), Ramesh Hangloo (Founder/ Director,Radio Sharda).

    Umran Malik (Cricket) ,Ishan Pandita (Footballer), Ankita Raina (Tennis) , Inshah Bashir (Basketball (Wheel Chair Player),Ayeera Hassan Chisti (Wushu), Soham Kamotra (Chess), Rahul Jangral (Mountaineering), Muskan Rana (Gymnastics), Kritarthi Kotwal (Fencing), Mannat Choudhary (Volley ball) have been conferred with the Award in the category of outstanding sports persons.

    Tejinder Singh (Editor News 18) , Sominder Koul (Bureau Chief ANI), Nishikant Khajuria (Daily Excelsior) , Emmad Makdoomi (Greater Kashmir) have been conferred with the Award in the category of Outstanding Media Persons.

    Hyderabad: In a major reshuffle, the Telangana government on Wednesday issued orders transferring 91 police officers, including both Indian Police Services (IPS) and non-cadre officials.

    In the new postings, V Satyanarayana, who held the position of Karimnagar police commissioner, is now joint commissioner for Rachakonda police.Gajarao Bhupal, who was joint commissioner at Rachakonda, was posted in the same rank with the Detective Department, Hyderabad police. Officer Rema Rajeshwari who held the position of DIG (Yadadri zone), has been posted to the position of Ramagundem police commissioner.

    Avinash Mohanty, who was waiting to be posted, is now deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Traffic-1, Rachakonda police. Officer P. Chaitanya was posted as DCP for south zone, Hyderabad police. Officer PV Pamaja, who was also awaiting a posting, was appointed as superintendent of police, Women’s Safety wing, Telangana police.

    Other important postings included: Gummi Chakravarthy as superintendent of the Anti Narcotics Bureau, Vishwajit Kampati as superintendent of Telangana State Security Bureau, L Subbarayudu as Karaimnagar police commissioner, Rakshita K Murthy as superintendent of Wanaparthy, Janaki Dharavath, DCP, Rachakonda police (Malkajgiri, B Anuradha, DCP, Rachakonda police, MA Rasheed as DCP (SOT) for Madhapur police, etc among others.

    SRINAGAR: The Government on Wednesday created 20 posts in different categories for establishment of Terror Monitoring Group (TMG) in Jammu and Kashmir.

    According to a government order, they include one post of Senior Superintendent of Police, six posts each of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Inspectors and Head Constables besides one post of follower.

    The TMC was ordered to be constituted by the Ministry Of Home Affairs, Government of India, in early 2019.

    The group, comprising of eight members, has Additional DGPCID of J&K Police as its Chairman. It also has IGP of J&K Police,representatives from Intelligence Bureau (IB), National Investigation Agency (NIA),Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Central Board of Indirect taxes and Customs (CBIC), Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), as its members.

    The terms of reference of the TMG include, “taking action against hardcore sympathisers among government employees including teachers etc providing overt or covert support to such activities”.

    The MHA also charges the TMG with action against all registered cases related to militancy, militant financing and militancy-related activities and bring them to a logical conclusion.

    It is also tasked with the work of “identify all key persons including leaders of the organisations who are involved in supporting (militancy) in any form and take concerted action against them.( GNS)

    Srinagar, Jan 25: The government on Wednesday ordered creation of 20 posts for establishment of Terror Monitoring Group (TMG) in Jammu and Kashmir Police.

    According to an order, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the sanction has been made with reference to Administrative Council decision taken on January 22 this year.

    “Sanction is hereby accorded to the creation of following 20 posts in different categories for establishment of Terror Monitoring Group (TMG) in J&K Police,” reads the order.

    As per the order the sanction has given for creation of one post of Senior Superintendent of Police, 6 posts each of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Inspector and Head Constable and one Follower post—(KNO)

    Jammu, Jan 25 (GNS): The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered freezing of boundaries of all administrative units in the Union Territory till completion of census 2021.

    “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (iv) of rule 8 of the Census Rules, 1990 and in supersession of all notification issued in this behalf, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir hereby freezes the boundaries of Districts/Tehsils, Municipalities, Towns, Revenue villages and other Administrative units in the whole Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir w.e.f 1st July, 2023 till completion of Census 2021”, read the notification issued by the Planning Development and Monitoring Department in this regard.(GNS)

  • Govt Appoints Dr Parikshat Singh Manhas As JKBOSE Chairman

    SRINAGAR: Authorities on Wednesday appointed Parikshat Singh Manhas Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education for period of two years.

    Principal Secretary to Government, School Education Department has said that the new BOSE chairman was appointed on the orders of Lieutenant Governor.

    The news agency KNO has leant that the principal secretary has said, “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 12 of Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education Act, 1975, the Government hereby appoint Dr Parikshit Singh Manhas—Director School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Jammu as Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on deputation basis for a period of two years from the date of issuance of this notification.”

    Dr. Parikshat Singh Manhas is Professor at The Business School & Director, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu. Parikshat earned his PhD in 2005 in Brand Positioning Strategies from University of Jammu and Post Master’s in Electronic Commerce and Information Science from Alber’s School of Business at Seattle University, USA in 2000.

    He has been awarded the UKERI Project, Commonwealth, Hungarian Faculty Research and Shastri Indo- Canadian Fellowship.
