Hyderabad government hospital on alert as viral flu cases rise

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Government Fever Hospital saw a rise in viral flu including influenza-like symptoms and got around 600 to 800 cases per day in the last week, said the Superintendent of the hospital.

Superintendent of Government Fever Hospital Shankar said, “Here at the Government Fever Hospital we got around 600 to 800 cases per day in the last week. All cases are simple, like runny nose, headache, body pains, abdominal pain, vomiting and loose motions.”

“There are chances that these symptoms will also spread in the family because it is Swine Flu. Swine flu is an old disease which we have been suffering from for the last 15 years and many people are already vaccinated. It is 100 per cent curable,” he added.

Shankar also stated that Oseltamivir tablets is given for swine flu and are already available in all government hospitals. It is also available in medical shops and private hospitals.

He said, “People are getting it now because it’s highly contagious and it is an airborne disease. So when one family member gets this, it easily spreads to other family members.

ICMR has already given guidelines in this regard. There is nothing to worry about. Everybody should wear masks in public places, wash their hands frequently and maintain social distancing.”

“Generally viral fever will subside within one week. If it’s more than one week, it’s not a viral fever. Swine flu cases are mostly seen in November, December and January as the temperature is low. Once the summer season starts, the virus cannot survive,” he added.

“During summer, we get other types of cases of water-bound diseases and gastroenteritis. Other diseases we get are typhoid cases because of water contamination and food.

We are also getting other infections like chicken pox cases, diphtheria cases, measles and others. The cases are admitted, isolated and treated accordingly,” Shankar said.

The Superintendent further stated that in regard to viral flu, they got around 800 to 1000 cases on Monday.

He said, “All are OP cases. We are not admitting any of the cases but only symptomatic support. If it’s more serious we give antibiotics otherwise just paracetamol.

Using antibiotics unnecessarily is not advisable. If the patients are young, elderly patients, patients having heart problems or kidney problems, transplant cases or asthma patients, they should be monitored carefully.

Pregnant ladies also should be careful as sometimes swine flu cases in pregnant ladies might result in abortions and even deaths.”

“The flu shot vaccine is available even now. Everyone is advised to take this once a year. It does not have any side effects. All vaccines might have mild side effects.

We have to take some precautions like avoiding handshakes and frequently touching our nose and mouth. Use proper hand wash and wash your hands every time whenever you touch some object,” he added.

Shankar mentioned that at the Fever Hospital, viral flu cases have been increasing for the last week but Covid, Dengue and Chikungunya cases are almost zero.

He said, “Swine flu is the only type of influenza now and already the government has taken alert and given some instruction to all the hospitals to alert increase in some seasonal cases and availability of drugs, availability of tests and isolation wards.

We are even ready to face if the number of cases increases. At the moment, it is not increasing and we are just on alert.”

“I think the number of cases in Telugu states, the OP cases are going up and the people are now more vulnerable. ICMR might have given the instructions as per the statistics for us to be alerted.

There is nothing to worry about. Just follow the precautions. If there are any symptoms for more than three days, consult a doctor immediately and take proper treatment.

Swine flu can also infect the lungs, and develop pneumonia, multiorgan failure and respiratory failure. Vaccines and tablets are available for swine flu. People with minor symptoms are also coming to hospitals and thus the increasing number of cases,” Shankar added.

AP: Naidu’s call to advocates to resist misuse of power by government

    [ad_1]

Amaravati: Telugu Desam Party leaders Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh on Saturday called upon the advocate community to firmly resist the misuse of power by Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) government.

Thanking advocates who have been bailing out TDP leaders and activists from false cases, Naidu said, “The role played by advocates in every sphere is crucial.”

The former chief minister assured the lawyers that those who firmly stand by the TDP now will be given top priority once the party is back in power.

Naidu said that along with political war, he felt the need to wage a legal fight against the “wicked policies of the YSRCP government”.

“The policy of the TDP always has been that highly educated people should plunge into politics, not the rich,” said the former chief minister

He said, “TDP allotted party tickets to as many as 47 advocates in the elections. Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Nakka Ananda Babu, GMC Balayogi, Yerran Naidu and Rajendra Prasad are among several other TDP leaders, who discharged their duties as advocates. Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar, who was once the TDP legal cell in charge is now a member of Rajya Sabha”.

Stating that he had been a member of the state Legislative Assembly since 1978, Naidu never witnessed this kind of situation in the State.

“The advocates, however, are getting full-time work because of the atrocious rule of YSRCP but other systems have totally collapsed,” he said.

He said that the atrocities of the YSRCP government began with the arrest of TDP state unit president, Atchen Naidu.

“TDP has a record of suppressing extremists, factionists and anti-communal forces. The party activists are now firmly resisting the state government’s barbarity and this is only possible with the help extended by the advocates,” he said.

Stating that suppressing the rowdyism of the state government is not a big deal for TDP, Naidu pledged to pay back all the atrocities with interest once elected to power.

Chandrababu Naidu said that this was the biggest legal meeting that he has convened in his political career.

There is great news for central government employees. In fact, the Ministry of Personnel, which comes under the government, has given a one-time option to a select group of central employees to opt for the old pension scheme. According to the order, employees joining the Central Services for posts advertised or notified before December 22, 2003, will get this option. There is a chance till August 31, 2023 to choose this option.

What happens to those who do not opt: Those government employees who are eligible to exercise the option but do not exercise the option by the due date will continue to be covered by the National Pension System i.e. NPS. The order states that the option once exercised will be final.

Necessary orders in this regard will be issued by October 31, 2023, if the Government servant fulfills the conditions of coverage under the CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972 (now 2021). At the same time, the NPS account of government employees who choose this option will be closed from December 31, 2023.

Maharashtra government suspends licenses of six cough syrup makers for violating rules

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government told the state Legislative Assembly on Friday that the licenses of six manufacturers of cough syrups in the state have been suspended for not following the rules.

Food and Drugs Administration Minister Sanjay Rathod made the statement while replying to a calling attention notice by Ashish Shelar (BJP) and others.

Recently, a cough syrup made by a Noida-based firm was alleged to have caused the death of 18 children in Uzbekistan. Noida police on Friday said they had arrested three employees of the firm.

Rathod said that the Maharashtra government had initiated inquiry against 84 out of 108 manufacturers of cough syrups in the state.

Four of them were directed to stop production while the licences of six companies were suspended, he said.

As many as 17 firms were served show-cause notices for violation of rules, the minister added.

Shelar referred to the deaths of 66 children in Gambia allegedly because of cough syrups imported from India.

But the minister said that the company which was facing the charge of violation of rules in that case was based in Haryana and had no manufacturing unit in Maharashtra.

“We have, however, taken a strict action against the violators of rules. We are ensuring that the World Health Organization’s GMP (good manufacturing practises) certification-related rules and Certificate of Pharmaceutical Products are complied with while exporting products (from the state),” he added.

Presiding officer Sanjay Shirsat said if 20 per cent of manufacturers faced raids because of suspected violation of rules, it needs to be taken very seriously as it was akin to playing with people’s lives.

Rathod said of 996 allopathic drug manufacturers in the state, 514 manufacturers export their products.

Adani-Hindenburg: SC order a ‘tight slap’ on Modi government, says AAP

    [ad_1]

Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party said Thursday the Supreme Court’s order for setting up a committee to look into various regulatory aspects of the stock markets, including the recent Adani Group shares crash, is a “tight slap” on the Modi government.

“This has today proved that the Modi government is corrupt and useless,” AAP national spokesperson Sanjay Singh said at a press conference.

The apex court on Thursday ordered the setting up of a six-member committee headed by former top court judge A M Sapre to investigate the recent Adani Group shares crash triggered by the Hindenburg Research’s fraud allegations and other regulatory aspects related to the stock markets.

A bench of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and justices P S Narasimha and J B Pardiwala said the panel will make an overall assessment of the situation, suggest measures to make investors aware and strengthen the existing regulatory measures for the stock markets.

The bench also directed the Centre, financial statutory bodies and the SEBI chairperson to render all cooperation to the panel, which will have to submit its report within two months.

Reacting to the apex court order, the AAP leader said, “It’s a tight slap on the Modi government.”

“To save Adani, Modi can go to any extent,” he charged.

Opposition parties have been demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe into allegations against the Adani Group, but the Modi government categorically rejected it, Singh said.

“The apex court of the country had to finally intervene,” he added.

Indian government issues ‘high risk’ warning for Google Chrome users- Check Details Here

    [ad_1]

New Delhi, Mar, 02: The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has revealed that multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Google Chrome.

Google Chrome is the most used internet browser across the globe with a massive market share. The Google backed web browsers is significantly ahead from its competitors when it comes to users. Not just desktop, even smartphone users rely on Google Chrome for day to day browsing and tasks. As most of the things are moving online, our reliability on web browsers is more than ever. We are now forced to share more and more of our personal information including banking details, date of birth, location and others. To keep the users safe, Google rolls out security updates for Chrome browser from time to time. Although tech companies recommend users to run the latest version of their browser, a few users opt to run the older for ease of use but it’s worth noting that older versions of browsers are easier to exploit. A few such vulnerabilities have been spotted in the Google Chrome browser and the Indian government has issued a warning for users of Chrome browser version prior to 110.0.5481.177.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has revealed that multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Google Chrome which could be exploited by an attacker to execute arbitrary code and gain access to sensitive information on the targeted system.

According to CERT-In, the vulnerability exists in Google Chrome due to Use after free in Prompts, Web Payments API, SwiftShader, Vulkan, Video and WebRTC; Heap buffer overflow in Video & Integer overflow in PDF. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by persuading a victim to visit a specially crafted web page. Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code and gain access to sensitive information on the targeted system.

To avoid any swindling, users should apply appropriate patches as mentioned by Google.

Buttigieg ‘glad’ for federal audit on his use of government planes

    train derailment ohio 21147

DOT said in December that the 18 flights Fox News highlighted — to destinations that included Las Vegas, Montreal and Oklahoma — cost taxpayers just under $42,000. The audit was originally requested by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) who has since called for Buttigieg’s resignation over his handling of the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.

Any government official can use the fleet, if they can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the agency’s ethics department that the flights will be more cost-effective than flying commercial, or for security or scheduling reasons. FEMA officials and National Transportation Safety Board accident investigators are typically frequent users of the planes, and it is not unusual for top DOT and FAA officials, as well as the heads of other agencies, to use them when warranted.

In 2018, POLITICO reported that former DOT Secretary Elaine Chao took the same FAA-owned planes on seven trips, costing taxpayers an estimated $93,977, including a $68,892 trip to and around Europe for her and five staffers.

China’s Communist Party begins key meeting to discuss major revamp, government

    [ad_1]

Beijing: China’s ruling Communist Party on Sunday began a key meeting to carry out a major revamp of the party and the government ahead of next month’s annual session of the Parliament.

The meeting of the Communist Party of China (CPC) plenum started its three-day plenary session in Beijing on Sunday, with President Xi Jinping, who is also the general secretary of the party, presenting a work report, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The Central Committee plenary session is being held ahead of the annual session of China’s Parliament, the National People’s Congress (NPC), and the top advisory body — the China People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) — in the first week of March.

During the NPC’s annual session, China will unveil a new leadership, including a new premier to succeed the incumbent Li Keqiang who is retiring. Barring Xi, most of the officials at the top were expected to be replaced.

Earlier this week, the political bureau of the party discussed the draft plan for the reforms of the CPC as well as state institutions and finalised recommendations to be submitted to the Central Committee plenary for approval.

The Central Committee which was elected at the once in five-year Congress of the party held in October last year consisted of 203 members and 168 alternate members.

Xi, 69, was re-elected for an unprecedented third five-year term by the Congress.
