    SRINAGAR: A livestock-laden truck rolled down a gorge near Domail in Udhampur district resulting in fatality to all seventy goats and sheep, officials said.

    Officials said that a truck bearing registration number HP63 E4737B driven by one Sansar Singh, son of Jarnail Singh on way from Manwal side towards Srinagar turned turtle and rolled down a gorge in Roun Domail, resulting in on spot fatality of the whole livestock.

    Pertinent to mention that JK administration had issued trucks for the transportation of livestock and families of migratory tribal populations who otherwise would foot the distance along with their livestock from the upper reaches to the plains or vice-versa.

    Additional SP Udhampur Anwar ul Haq has in the meantime also confirmed about the incident. (GNS)

  • Three Dead As Vehicle Falls Into Gorge In JK

    SRINAGAR: Three persons were killed when a vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident in Reasi district, officials said on Sunday.

    They said that last night at about 2030 hours, one Eco car (JK20C-0599) skidded off the road and rolled down near Karg village of Tehsil Bhomag , resulting in the on spot death of three persons.

    The deceased have been identified as Karnail Singh (48) alias Karnailu son of Tirath Ram of Tote Tehsil Bhomag, Naseeb Singh (63) son of Sohan Mal of Karg Tehsil Bhomag  and Mohan Lal (33)  son of Suram Chand of Devi Garh Reasi.

    Confirming it, a police officer told GNS that a case has been registered in this regard.

    Jammu, April 29 (GNS): Two soldiers were killed when an army ambulance vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident near Line of Control  in Rajouri district on Saturday.

    Official sources told GNS that the vehicle skidded off the road and fell about 200-ft down into a gorge near Dungannon Nallah. Two soldiers suffered critical injuries and were shifted to army hospital Rajouri were they succumbed to injuries.

    A police official told GNS that a case has been registered and further investigations taken up.

  • Kulgam man dies after his vehicle rolls down into gorge in Ramban

    Banihal, Apr 04: A man from South Kashmir Kulgam district, who was working with Ministry of Defense, died after his vehicle rolled down into a deep gorge in Maroog area of Ramban on Tuesday morning, officials said.

    An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the man identified as Sarfraaz Ahmed Bhat of Kulgam district was travelling in his car when it rolled down into the deep gorge at Maroog.

    He said soon after the accident, Police and QRT Ramban volunteers launched a rescue operation and recovered his body.

    “He was working with Ministry of Defense wing as shown in an identity card recovered at the accident site”, official said—(KNO)

    Poonch, Mar 19: Fourteen people including six girl and seven male students were injured when an “overloaded” eco-vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge in this mountainous district on Sunday, officials said.

    They said the accident took place near Keri Kangra in Mendhar Poonch when the driver of the Eco Van (JK12C-O613) lost control over it and the vehicle rolled down many feet into a gorge, leading to the injuries to 14 people— six of them females and eight males.
    The injured, 13 of them being minors and one major, were immediately rushed to the local hospital by the rescuers including local volunteers and police. BMO Mendhar Dr P A Khan confirmed to GNS that 14 injured people were received at the Sub District Hospital. He said two of them have been shifted to GMC Rajouri for advanced treatment.

    The injured have been identified as Mishba Kousar (16), Fahim Kouser (15), Zahira (20), Qasid Rashid (15), Adid Hussain (16), Danish Shah (17), Rukhsana (15), Muskan Basharat (14) Uzma Kouser (16), Mujtab Shah (20), Hassan Ali Shah (16), Asees Ahmad (16), Mohammad Layaqat and Mohammad Zamran (25), all residents of Rya.
    A police official told GNS that a case has been registered and further investigations taken up.

    Meanwhile locals accused traffic police of having failed to check overcrowding in the vehicles, leading to the accidents in the area. They urged higher ups to look into matter and ensure that there is no overcrowding in the vehicles in order to avoid mishaps. (GNS)

    SRINAGAR: Two persons died while 19 others were injured after a bus carrying devotees plunged into gorge near Teryath area of Rajouri district on Saturday.

    Quoting an official the news agency KNO reported that the bus was on way from Argi village of Rajouri towards Shiv Khori Shrine in Reasi district when it plunged into the gorge near Teryath town.

    He said in the incident 2 persons died on the spot while 19 others were injured.

    The official said all the injured were shifted to Teryath Primary Health Centre.

    Hyderabad: A Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus carrying 30 passengers started from Mahabubnagar to Srisailam had a close cut-off near the Srisailam ghat section on Sunday. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle ‎while driving across the sharp curve and rammed into the parapet railing.

    Even though the protective wall was destroyed in the accident, the bus managed to stop due to the iron barricades around it without falling into the valley. Passengers on the bus sighed with relief as escaped unhurt in the incident.

    Traffic on the ghat section was congested briefly till the local police helped clear the vehicle and restored normalcy.

    A Twitter user posted a video of the incident tweeting about the incident took place “Narrow escape for 30 passengers in a #BusAccident, a #TSRTC bus lost control and rammed into the parapet wall, though the parapet wall collapsed, luckily the iron railing helped stop the bus from falling into a deep gorge on the #Srisailam ghat road.”
