  • Does the SAT really always give you back taxes? We disprove the most common myths

    [ad_1]

Tax filing season is approaching and with it, the time to carefully review every detail and ensure that the information is correctly submitted to the Tax Administration Service (SAT). But what about the myths that have been created around this process? How to distinguish truth from fiction?

Myth 1: The SAT has the obligation to return the balance in favor if you present your annual declaration.

The reality is that the SAT is only obliged to make the refund if your return meets the necessary requirements for it, including the correct presentation of the information and compliance with all tax requirements.

Myth 2: If your colleague in the same salary range got paid back, you will have to get paid back too.

Each statement is unique and must be evaluated on an individual basis. Your partner may have had more deductions than you, resulting in a return in their favor. Therefore, it cannot be assumed that if someone else received a return, they will also get you.

Myth 3: You can get a credit balance without personal deductions and tuition incentives.

This is a myth that has been widely spread. The reality is that to obtain a credit balance, you need personal deductions and tuition incentives, among other options that you can apply to your return.

Myth 4: If you paid interest for a mortgage loan, the SAT will return it to you.

Although you may be able to get deductions for mortgage interest, this does not guarantee that the SAT will return the full amount you paid in interest.

Myth 5: The SAT will return the balance in favor in less than 5 days, regardless of the deadlines established by law.

The tax return process can take several weeks or even months, depending on the number of returns that the SAT has to review. Therefore, it is important not to rely on a fixed deadline and to be prepared to wait as long as it takes.

Myth 6: Changing your bank account and going back to make your annual declaration will return you twice as much.

This is a myth that can lead you to commit tax fraud. The SAT has the necessary mechanisms to detect this type of actions, and if it detects them, you could face legal consequences.

What happens if I do not file my 2023 declaration? Check the fines and avoid them

Myth 7: There is an accountant who charges cheaply and always generates a credit balance.

Hiring an accountant who promises guaranteed returns can be dangerous. Be sure to look for an experienced professional with good references.

Myth 8: If you file your return at 00:01 you will be one of the first to receive the refund.

The moment in which you present your declaration does not influence the return process. The important thing is to present the correct information and comply with all tax requirements.

Myth 9: When filing your return you will always get taxes in favor.

It depends on the information you provide on your return and the deductions you apply.

  • Petrol Price will be cheaper: Finance Minister will give big relief

    [ad_1]

There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel across the country for a long time. Petrol and diesel prices are running stable across the country, but in the midst of all this, a big good news is coming out.

The price of petrol can be reduced by Rs 18 and diesel by Rs 11. For the last 10 months, the general public has not seen any change in fuel prices, but Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has given a good news.

    Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman indicated

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has hinted that there may be a big cut in the prices of petrol and diesel in the coming days. The price of petrol can be reduced by Rs.18. For this, big planning is being done by the central government.

    Government is making this plan

Let us tell you that the central government is planning to bring petrol and diesel under the ambit of GST. At present, this will be discussed in the GST Council. If there is an agreement on this from the state governments, then there can be a big fall in the prices of oil. At present, fuel is taxed at the rate of 28 per cent.

    Boom in february

Let us tell you that there has been a huge jump in the demand for fuel across the country in the month of February. According to the preliminary data of the industry that came on Thursday, the consumption of petrol and diesel has increased in double digits this month due to the severe cold last month. According to the data, petrol sales increased by about 18 per cent to 12.2 lakh tonnes in the first fortnight of February. In the same period last year, this figure was 10.4 lakh tonnes. This figure is 18.3 percent more than the first fortnight of February in 2021.

How much has the demand for petrol increased?

During the period under review, the demand for petrol has increased by 13.6 percent on a monthly basis. Earlier in January, the demand had decreased by 5.1 percent on a monthly basis. This decrease was due to the decrease in the movement of vehicles in the cold season. Sales of diesel, the most used fuel in the country, increased by about 25 per cent year-on-year to 3.33 million tonnes during February 1-15.

BJP against ‘caste census’, does not want to give rights to backward classes: SP

    [ad_1]

Lucknow: The BJP is against a “caste census” because it does not want to give backward classes and Dalits their rights, the Samajwadi Party claimed on Wednesday, asserting that correct data is necessary to ensure they get their due respect and honour.

It is necessary to know the correct statistics of the backward castes in the state and the country, state unit president of the Samajwadi Backward Class Cell Dr Rajpal Kashyap said at a seminar in Hardoi.

“The BJP government is against caste census. It does not want to give rights and respect to backward castes and Dalits. The BJP is afraid of caste census,” he said.

Stressing that Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has been demanding a caste census for a long time, Kashyap said his party had also included it in its manifesto for the assembly elections.

The Samajwadi Party believes that a caste census will give the accurate information about the number of deprived and backward castes, and it will be easier to make plans for them, he said.

Kashyap said the backward classes cell of the SP will organise a seminar on the topic at the block level in all the assembly constituencies in the state.

Make Bulldozer Last Resort, Give People Chance To Prove Their Claim: Omar to J&K Admin

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR:  Stating that the ongoing demolition drive going on across J&K has triggered a wave of frustration and chaos among people, National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah Monday advocated that the government should make the bulldozer its last resort, give people a chance to prove their claim and issue proper notices to the people having illegal possession of State land. He was quick to add that the National Conference was not against those who have grabbed State land but “a proper procedure should be followed.”

“In J&K, there is chaos everywhere. Bulldozers are being sent everywhere to demolish houses, complexes and buildings. But nobody knows what is the procedure and on what basis this demolition drive is being conducted,” said Omar while addressing a press conference in Srinagar, as per news agency KNO.

He said his sister approached the High Court with regard to the proposed demolition of the Gupkar house of Omar and was told by the government before the Court that the list making rounds in the media are “forged.” “Given the government response in the court, I urge the government to make the genuine list of people who have grabbed State land public,” he said.

Omar suggested a slew of measures to the government with regard to the demolition drive. “No government is supposed to bring trouble for the people. Bulldozers should be the last resort. The Government must issue proper notices to those who, according to it, have grabbed State land and given them at least six weeks’ time to prove their claim on land under them and show the documents,” he said. “In our case, my sister produced the documents before the HC that states that the lease of Gupkar house is still active and has some years to expire. Likewise, people should be given time to present the documents and let the revenue team verify the same. If after proper verification land under anybody is found under illegitimate possession, then a bulldozer can be used for sure.”

Omar said that the government should also make a public “genuine list of people who have occupied State land.” “It seems that the ongoing drive is aimed at creating a wedge between communities. This drive lacks proper procedure,” he said.

He said in the case of demolition of NC leader Ali Muhammad Sagar, he found that no notice was served. “There is a procedure that if the person doesn’t receive the notice, the same is fixed on the front portion of the gate. Nowhere this is being done,” he said, adding, “Officials accompanying bulldozer at Nedous, told my relatives that they had pressure from the top and have to do something to show their bosses.”

Omar said in many areas the ongoing demolition-cum-eviction drive is becoming a “hub of corruption.” “I got many calls from several areas with people saying that they are being told to pay Rs 1 or 1.5 lakh to get their names removed from the list,” he said.

He said that NC MPs will try to raise the issue in the Parliament if they are given time to speak.

To a query that whey NC would approach the court on the issue, Omar said that he has suggested some measures to the government and that if the J&K administration fails to give positive response, they would surely consult lawyers and discuss the future course.

Progressive Rep. Delia Ramirez set to give State of the Union response

    [ad_1]

Ramirez said Sanders’ selection marked a doubling down of Republican “extremism,” pointing to her record as White House press secretary defending President Donald Trump and as a conservative governor.

“That gives Democrats an opportunity — if we can seize it,” Ramirez added.

The progressive minor party has offered responses to the presidential speech in recent years, with appearances by high-profile liberals generating more interest in the alternate address. Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.), both members of the progressive “squad,” gave the response to Biden’s speeches in 2022 and 2021, respectively.

Ramirez, who represents a heavily Latino district in the Chicago area, also plans to address concerns that Democrats need to do more to win over working-class Latino voters.

“Delia will be laying out a vision for how Democrats can win working-class voters of all races and nationalities, by fighting for a government that has working people’s backs,” said Rep. Greg Casar (D-Texas), a Working Families Party colleague.

She’s also going to urge the Biden administration to take executive action on liberal priorities like drug pricing and raising a threshold to make more workers eligible for overtime pay. Republican control of the House and the tiny Democratic majority in the Senate is likely to stymie most attempts to pass progressive-oriented policy this Congress.

Last year, Tlaib’s response, which had drawn a contrast with Biden’s remarks, had drawn criticism from other Democrats who saw her message as undercutting the president. This year’s speech could strike a conciliatory tone.

“We want to make a contribution — productive, in coalition, with the president to ensure that Democrats focus on the issues of working people,” Maurice Mitchell, national director of the Working Families Party, said in an interview ahead of the speech.

In addition to the response from the opposing party, last year’s State of the Union also drew a Congressional Black Caucus response and one with a “bipartisan perspective” for the centrist group No Labels. Neither group has announced a speech yet this year.

  • Give CBI access to offshore accounts, SC suggests to Nirav Modi’s brother-in-law

Give CBI access to offshore accounts, SC suggests to Nirav Modi’s brother-in-law

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday suggested that Mainak Mehta, brother-in-law of fugitive Nirav Modi, should consider providing the CBI a letter of authority to access his offshore bank accounts.

The CBI has alleged that Mehta has received a large sum of money siphoned off in the PNB fraud scam, where Modi is the key accused. The investigative agency also alleged that Mehta transferred the money to his and his wife’s offshore bank accounts.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud suggested Mehta’s counsel that he can give the letter of authority to an official designated by the CBI for accessing the bank details and the matter will end, and if not, then the court will have to take up CBI’s plea and decide it.

The CBI’s counsel submitted that Mehta had refused to give the letter of authority and as a result, the agency had to get letters rogatory (LRs) issued. “No response on LR has been received. We have written to the embassy (in Singapore) to pursue it,” counsel said.

The CBI’s counsel further argued that they apprehend that a huge amount of money has gone into those accounts and Mehra is a foreign national and his wife is a Belgian national, and once he leaves the country, he will not come back. Mehta is a British national who lives in Hong Kong with his family.

Senior advocate Amit Desai, representing Mehta, submitted that his client has been in India for a long time and he had always co-operated and false allegations have been made by the CBI. He added that his client is willing to give the letter of authority but then he will have to stay in India for another year, and emphasised that his client should be allowed to go for some time.

The top court noted that allowing Mehta to travel out of the country would mean the dismissal of the CBI’s appeal without a hearing and added that the court cannot compel Mehta to give the letter of authority to the CBI. After hearing arguments, the top court listed the matter for further hearing on February 9.

The apex court was hearing CBI’s plea challenging the August last year order of the Bombay High Court which had allowed Mehta to travel to Hong Kong and stay there for three months.
