Nine Year Old Girl Dies, Several Injured During Baisakhi Celebrations

SRINAGAR: A tragic incident occurred during Baisakhi celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, as a footbridge collapsed due to overloading, resulting in the death of a nine-year-old girl and injuries to 61 people, including several children.

The collapse happened at Beni Sangam in Bain village of Chenani block.

Cops and locals were quick to respond and rescued the injured, which were then transported to various hospitals in Chenani, Udhampur, and Jammu. Police sources earlier confirmed that there were no serious injuries as the height of the bridge was low.

Delhi: Girl alleges gang-rape two years after incident

Hyderabad: 16-year-old gang raped at Kandikal Gate

New Delhi: A 19-year-old teenager has lodged a complaint that she was gang-raped by two men in South Delhi’s Begumpur area, an official said on Thursday, adding that the incident occurred two and half years ago when the victim was a minor.

According to police, the woman on Wednesday lodged a written complaint at Malviya Nagar police station wherein she levelled allegations that she came in contact with one alleged person named Anubhav in September 2020 through social media when she was in need of a job.

“Therefore, on the pretext of providing a job, she was called by Anubhav at Malviya Nagar Metro station where the alleged Anubhav along with two friends were waiting for her in a car. She met them and they moved the car and parked somewhere in Begampur area where two of them raped her one by one,” said Chandan Chowdhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South).

“The accused made a video clip and threatened to post the video clip on social media. The alleged Anubhav again threatened her on the pretext of sharing the video on social media,” said the DCP.

“The Delhi Commission for Women’s counsellor was called and according to allegations, a case under section 376-D (gang-rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and section 6 POCSO Act has been registered at Malviya Nagar police station and further investigation has been taken up,” said the official.

Minor girl raped in Bihar’s Purnea, clay and sand inserted in genitals

Three including juvenile held in student abduction and gang rape case

Patna: A 10-year-old girl was raped in Bihar’s Purnea district on Sunday, and the accused also put clay and sand in the victim’s genitals later, police said.

The incident occurred in a village under Dagarua police station in the district.

The victim was playing with her friends outside the house. The accused came to the place and told the other girls to go back to their respective homes.

As the other girls left, the accused took the 10-year-old girl to a deserted place and raped her. He also put clay and sand on her genital parts as she was profusely bleeding.

When the victim’s mother did not find her in the house, she enquired from other children, and told her that a person had taken her away.

A large number of villagers reached the spot and rescued the victim. The accused, after seeing the villagers, fled.

The local villager immediately informed the local police station about the incident. The accused was finally nabbed by the police.

“We have arrested the accused and booked him under the POCSO Act. We have also sent the victim for treatment followed by her medical examination. Speedy trial will be initiated against the accused,” Superintendent of Police, Purnea, Aamir Jawaid, said.

18 Year Old Girl Hangs Self To Death

SRINAGAR: A teenage girl on Sunday allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself to death in Katra area of Reasi district on Sunday.

A police officer said that the girl (18) hanged herself to death at her residence in Ramnagar of Udhampur.

He said that she was rushed to CHC Katra where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation. (KS)

After health scare, TV actress Neha Madra blessed with baby girl

Mumbai: ‘Balika Vadhu’ actress Neha Marda has been blessed with a baby girl although it was a premature delivery. Her pictures with the baby are going viral on social media.

Neha was hospitalised due to pregnancy related complications and recently her team had also shared her health status on social media, which mentioned that she is in her last stage of pregnancy and “waiting for her speedy recovery”.

The post read: “Waiting for a speedy recovery at this last phase of her pregnancy journey… She has all faith on that one power. Shri Shivay Namstyuvhyam.”

Now, she has delivered a baby girl and is still under observation at the hospital. Her baby is also being examined properly and with utmost care.

Neha had tied the knot with Patna-based businessman Ayushman Agarwal in February 2012, and announced her pregnancy last year. She was keeping well initially but complications arose at a later stage.

Karnataka: Minor girl stabs fiance on pretext of making reels in Haveri

Haveri: A 17-year-old teenager has been taken into custody on the charges of stabbing her fiance in the neck on the pretext of making reels in Karnataka’s Haveri district, police said on Saturday.

The incident occurred near Om Public School on the outskirts of Ranebennur town.

The seriously injured victim, Devendra Gouda, was rushed to a private hospital, and his condition is serious.

According to police, as the girl was in love with somebody else, she planned to attack Gouda, with whom she got engaged on March 3. The girl invited Gouda to a park and told him she wanted to give him a gift.

Under the garb of giving him a gift, she tied Gouda’s hands, asked him to close his eyes, and stabbed him in the neck.

Gouda’s parents have lodged a complaint against the girl with Halageri police station. The investigation is on.

5-year-old girl mauled to death by stray dogs in Chhattisgarh

Video of boy mauled by pack of stray dogs in Saudi Arabia goes viral

Koriya: A five-year-old girl died after she was attacked by stray dogs in Chhattisgarh’s Koriya district on Friday, the police said.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday near Margdarshan School Road in Baikunthpur.

According to police, Sukanti (5), the victim was attacked by stray dogs when she was going to attend nature’s call at around 6 am on Friday. In the attack, the victim suffered grievous injuries and died.

“After receiving information about the incident, police rushed to the spot for undertaking an investigation at the crime scene. Prima-facie investigation hints that the victim might have died due to attacks by dogs,” said Station House Officer, Baikunthpur Kotwali police station Ashwani Singh.

Police sent the body for autopsy. Further investigation is underway.

Girl, 14, held captive for days, raped in UP’s Bhadohi

Hyderabad: Principal, staff booked in Narsingi student suicide case

Bhadohi: A man has been booked for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl earlier this month holding her captive for three days, police said on Thursday.

“We have received a complaint of from family members of a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly kept forcibly at a place for three days and raped by one Rishi Seth.

The incident occurred earlier this month,” Kotwali Police Station SHO Ajay Kumar Seth said.

Seth was booked under several sections of the IPC and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act on Wednesday.

“The victim was taken for a medical examination and we have formed a team to arrest the accused,” said the SHO.
