    Kathmandu: Flydubai flight FZ 576 from Kathmandu Airport (KTM) to Dubai International (DXB) experienced a bird hit during takeoff from Kathmandu.

    After following standard procedure, the flight continued as normal to Dubai and arrived at DXB at 00:14 local time, flydubai spokesperson said.

    The aircraft reportedly caught fire after the bird hit. Fire tenders were scrambled at the airport.

    Nepal’s Minister of Tourism, Sudan Kirati, too, confirmed that the flight had landed safely in Dubai.

    According to the minister, all passengers were safe. Officials said the plane flew on one engine after the bird hit

    Nepal’s Civil Aviation Authority on Monday tweeted: “Flydubai flight number 576, (Boeing 737-800) Kathmandu to Dubai flight is normal now and proceeding to her destination Dubai as per the flight plan. Kathmandu airport operation is normal from 16:14 UTC (09:59 pm local time).”

    Recently, a Saudia Airlines cargo flight made an emergency landing at Kolkata Airport after its windshield cracked mid-air, airport officials told ANI.

    The aircraft landed safely at the Kolkata Airport at 12:02 pm.

    Before the landing, the airport had made all the necessary arrangements.

    A full emergency was withdrawn after the flight landed, according to airport officials.

    Earlier, an Abu Dhabi-bound Etihad Airways flight returned to the Bangalore International Airport shortly after take-off due to a technical issue.

    The airline said the aircraft did a normal landing at Bengaluru airport.

    The flight inspection was done and later took off to its destination.

    Riyadh: Dubai-based flydubai has launched four destinations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). This includes the start of flights to NEOM from March 16, Najran from March 18, Al Qaisumah from March 21 and Jizan from April 26.

    flydubai, becoming the first UAE airline to connect Dubai to the futuristic smart city in north-western Saudi Arabia.

    Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai, said in a statement, ” As Saudi Arabia continues on its path of economic growth and investment in developing its tourism sector, we look forward to offering passengers from the UAE and around our network the opportunity to explore more of the country.”

    Earlier this year, flydubai resumed its operations in the kingdom’s AlUla with a twice-weekly service from January 12.

    Abu Dhabi: A Flydubai flight from Dubai to Dhaka was diverted to Karachi after a passenger passed away mid-journey on Saturday, February 18.

    According to the flydubai, its flight FZ 523 from DXB to Dhaka Airport (DAC) on February 18 was diverted to Karachi Airport (KHI) for a medical emergency.

    The flight took off at around 1:45 pm and was scheduled to land around 8:30 pm in Dhaka. After the emergency landing, the plane left for Dhaka at 8:17 pm, Karachi time.

    As per the Pakistani media reports, 59-year-old Bangladeshi passenger Shab Sheikh died of a heart attack and was pronounced dead on arrival.

    “Flydubai would like to express its deepest condolences to the family of a passenger who passed away. Our family assistance team is providing support and our thoughts are with the family of the passenger during this sad time. We are in touch with the relevant authorities,” a flydubai spokesman told The National.

    In November 2022, a passenger on an EasyJet flight from Cyprus to London Gatwick also died.
