Nawazuddin’s estranged wife accuses him of rape, files police complaint with proof

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: In another twist to their ongoing saga, Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s estranged wife Aaliya Siddiqui has charged him with alleged rape and lodged a complaint with Versova Police Station here on Friday.

Aaliya, who had slapped a divorce notice to Nawazuddin in 2021, herself made the announcement on her Instagram account, though police officials declined to comment.

“A rape complaint (with proof) has been filed against him at Versova Police Station yesterday (Thursday),” she said in the video post. “Whatever may happen, I will not allow my innocent kids go in their heartless hands,” Aaliya declared, becoming emotional while recounting her purported ordeal.

Married in 2009, the couple has been in the limelight for the past few weeks hurling allegations at each other on various domestic and personal issues and their children, daughter Shora and son Yaani.

In January 2022, Nawazuddin’s mother had filed a police complaint against Aaliya for allegedly trespassing into the actor’s home and she lodged a counter-complaint against her mother-in-law alleging domestic violence.

This time, Aaliya has labelled her mother-in-law as “heartless” who allegedly called her “my innocent child illegitimate” even as Nawazuddin remained silent.

Slamming Nawazuddin for seeking custody of their kids, Aaliya countered how he has never experienced the joy of the children, didn’t know how to use a diaper, didn’t realise when the kids grew up, and now he is trying to “steal” them from her to prove he is a good father.

“He is a coward dada he is stealing the kids (who are admitted to a Dubai school) from a mother by abusing his power and fame, but forgets that the Almighty is the most powerful,” she said.

Aaliya contended that she had always considered Nawazuddin as her husband, but he never accepted her as his wife though she had given the most important years of her life to him.

She alleged how she was grappling with financial losses and now Nawazuddin has weakened her more from all sides, but she had full faith in the courts and law and expressed confidence that the verdict would be in her favour.

In earlier posts, she had alleged that her husband and mother-in-law did not give food and other basic necessities, put restrictions on her access to the bathroom, how she and her kids were reportedly kept in a room in Nawazuddin’s home, etc.

  • Imran Khan’s party files petition in court, seeks release of detained leaders

Imran Khan’s party files petition in court, seeks release of detained leaders

    [ad_1]

Lahore/Peshawar: Fearing that the notorious intelligence agencies may torture senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf politicians at undisclosed locations, ousted premier Imran Khan’s party on Thursday filed a petition in a court seeking the release of the leaders who offered their arrests under the mass court arrest movement a day earlier.

The interim Punjab government on Thursday confirmed that police had arrested 81 PTI activists, including former federal ministers Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar and Hammad Azhar, Senators Azam Swati and Waleed Iqbal (grandson of poet of Allama Iqbal) and former Punjab governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema. Khan’s party, however, insists that around 250 party workers have been detained by police in Lahore.

Initially, all the arrested PTI supporters were shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore but later its leaders were shifted to an ‘undisclosed location’.

Since neither the government nor the Punjab police confirmed the location of the detained leaders, the party and the families of the arrested leaders on Thursday filed a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking their “safe recovery/release.”

Zain Qureshi, son of former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, said neither his father nor other leaders were presented before any court of law on Thursday nor the Punjab government and police are disclosing which jail they have been taken to.

The petitioners said the lives of PTI leaders are at stake at the hands of the government and police.

“If the detainees are not released from the illegal and unlawful detention, they may suffer an irreparable loss and injury,” they said and added that the arrested PTI leaders may be booked in false and frivolous cases in order to cause them maximum harm.

The PTI leadership is wary of the treatment meted out to the detained leaders.

Earlier, Senator Azam Swati had alleged that some senior ISI officers had inflicted severe torture on him while he was in police custody.

The PTI is fearing a similar situation in the case of these arrested senior leaders.

A Punjab police officer said that Qureshi has been shifted to Attock Jail while the other senior leaders are kept in different jails in Punjab.

Khan’s party on Wednesday began a mass court arrest movement from Lahore over what it called the violation of fundamental rights, abuse of the Constitution and the economic meltdown.

According to the party, every day a few hundred PTI workers and leaders will present themselves for arrest from different cities.

On Thursday, party workers and leaders presented themselves for arrest in Peshawar. “Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders, workers and people left for (Peshawar) Central Jail in large numbers,” the party said.

The mass court arrest movement will continue till the date for elections in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are not announced, a party leader said.

The PTI dissolved its governments in Punjab and Kyber-Pakhtaunkhawa provinces over a month ago. Under the Constitution, elections must be held within 90 days after the dissolution of an assembly.

The PML-N-led nine-party government has said that holding separate elections for the provincial and national assemblies is not possible because of the economic crisis and the law and order situation.

Khan, who was ousted as prime minister in April last year after a no-confidence motion was passed in the National Assembly, is seeking fresh general elections in Pakistan.

Khan has said that he has started the “Jail Bharo Tehreek” (court arrest movement) for Haqeeqi Azadi for two main reasons. “One, it is a peaceful, non-violent protest against the attack on our constitutionally-guaranteed fundamental rights. We are facing sham FIRs & National Accountability Bureau cases, custodial torture, attacks on journalists & social.”

He said the drive was against the economic meltdown “brought on by a cabal of crooks who have money laundered billions in looted wealth & gotten the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) (deal) for themselves while crushing the people, especially the poor and middle class, under the burden of spiralling inflation and rising unemployment.”

Khan urged the people to take to the streets to get “true freedom”.

Sanjay Raut quizzed on death threats, accused’s wife files complaint

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: A Thane police team on Wednesday recorded statement of Shiv Sena-UBT MP Sanjay Raut on his allegations that MP Shrikant Shinde, the son of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, had hired mafia goon Raja Thakur to kill him.

Simultaneously, Thakur’s wife, lawyer Pooja Thakur filed a police complaint against Raut for making defamatory remarks against her husband.

On Tuesday, Raut had created a sensation by claiming that the CM’s son and Thane MP Shrikant Shinde had contracted alleged goon Raja Thakur to “finish him off”.

He had written letters to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and top officials seeking protection as his security cover was removed after the change of power in the state last year.

Raut’s contentions were dismissed outright by both Shinde and Fadnavis, and while they assured a probe into his allegations, but cautioned that he (Raut) could face action if he was indulging in any “political stunts”. He was accorded security cover.

After submitting her complaint with the Kapurbavdi Police Station, Pooja Thakur told media persons: “Who has given him (Raut) the right to call my husband a goon… I have lodged a complaint against him under IPC’s Section 211.”

Besides Raut, other Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders like former Congress CM Ashok Chavan and Nationalist Congress Party ex-Minister Dr. Jitendra Awhad have also raised apprehensions of death threats in the past few days.

  • Telangana Congress files complaint with Human Rights Commission over dog menace

Telangana Congress files complaint with Human Rights Commission over dog menace

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Wednesday approached the State Human Rights Commission seeking immediate directions to the government for taking action against dog menace.

Following the gruesome incident of a pack of stray dogs attacking and killing a four-year-old boy in Amberpet on February 19, the Congress leaders demanded stringent action against Telangana government, the state’s Minister for Municipal Administration, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner and GHMC Mayor alleging human rights violations and sought immediate directions to the state administration to take measures.

In a complaint filed with the Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TSHRC), the TPCC leaders said stray dogs were attacking people in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, especially children and elderly, and mentioned the incident of the four-year-old boy, who was mauled to death by street dogs.

The incident sent shock waves after a video of it went viral on Tuesday.

The TPCC leaders accused the Telangana government representatives of responding in a most irresponsible manner by allegedly making statements disregarding the human rights of citizens of Hyderabad.

“Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao claimed that dog population must be artificially controlled, which ridicules his own incompetency and inefficiency. It is the minister himself who is responsible for the control of dog menace in the state,” they said.

The Congress leaders further said GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi blamed the dogs that were hungry for attacking the citizens. It is the job of the mayor to safeguard the lives of citizens and to control dog menace, they said and also urged financial assistance to be provided to the family of the deceased boy.

TPCC President and party MP A Revanth Reddy also attacked the BRS government over the incident and alleged that Rama Rao miserably failed in discharging his duties as a Municipal Administration minister.

“A four-year-old boy has been mauled to death by stray dogs in Hyderabad. You say sorry to the boy’s family while the Mayor maintains that the stray dogs (which attacked the dogs) were hungry. This is the most inhuman government. How could the minister justify about portraying Hyderabad as a global city when these kind of incidents are occurring,” Reddy said.

In another incident of street dogs attacking children reported from the city, a four-year-old boy playing outside his house in Chaitanyapuri on Wednesday was bitten by stray dogs, following which he suffered bleeding injuries, according to his mother.

The boy’s mother told media that four-five dogs chased three children and attacked her son resulting in scratches and bleeding injuries to him and he was taken to hospital for treatment.

She said her neighbours were feeding the stray dogs despite objections. “Earlier also, stray dogs attacked the locals and complaints were made to municipal authorities then and they caught the dogs. But the neighbours, who were feeding them got these dogs released and they are attacking the children,” the woman claimed.

  • Mundra Port Narcotics Seizure Case: NIA files 2nd Supplementary charge sheet

Mundra Port Narcotics Seizure Case: NIA files 2nd Supplementary charge sheet

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday filed its second supplementary charge sheet before a special court in Ahmedabad in connection with a case pertaining to seizure of 2988.210 Kgs of heroin at Mundra Port, Gujarat.

According to an official, the said consignment was sent from Afghanistan via Bandar Abbas, Iran.

Initially, the case was registered by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and later, the probe was taken over by the NIA on October 6, 2021.

In March 2022, the NIA filed a charge sheet against 16 accused. After this, a supplementary charge sheet was filed against nine accused in August 2022.

The second supplementary charge sheet was filed against 22 accused which included private firms too.

“During further investigation, it was found that there is an organised criminal conspiracy to smuggle illegal consignments of heroin through international trade routes to India from Afghanistan, hatched by the accused. While investigating forward and backward linkages of the crime, a well-oiled network of operatives involved in the import, facilitation and transport of drug laden consignments has been uncovered.

“It has also been revealed that consignments were being imported through multiple fake/shell import proprietorship firms floated in India through multiple accused,” the NIA said.

Prime accused Harpreet Singh Talwar alias Kabir Talwar visited Dubai, UAE on multiple occasions and wilfully participated in the conspiracy for exploiting the commercial sea-route of import, in order to smuggle heroin into India in commercial quantities.

Talwar was running multiple trades in New Delhi, like clubs, retail showrooms and import firms. These firms are opened by Kabir Talwar in the names of his employees, relatives and friends, which are solely operated by him. These firms were used for importing narcotics, banned items and receiving remittances in the form of legitimate goods in lieu of his role in the smuggling cartel, the NIA said.

Over a dozen such firms have been identified and investigated, including the charge-sheeted firm, M/s Magent India. This company was used to import and receive heroin disguised as semi-processed talc stone from Afghanistan to India.

Investigations revealed that an organised network of syndicate members was being run by foreign based narcotic traders for importing the heroin laden consignments into Indian Ports (Mundra, Kolkata) and its further delivery to various warehouses located at New Delhi.

The India based network of Afghan nationals was responsible for hiring these warehouses and for extracting and distributing the heroin once it reached New Delhi.

“Investigation established that funds generated through the sale proceeds of heroin were provided to operatives of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) for furtherance of terrorist activities in India,” said the NIA.

Further investigations in the matter are on.

‘Kuch logon ko zindagi bhar jhooth bolna padta hai’:Anupam Kher reacts to Prakash Raj’s ‘nonsense film’ comment on The Kashmir Files

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ has been in controversy since its release and the movie was criticised by various popular personalities in the industry.  From Israeli film producer to Prakash Raj, several people openly termed the film ‘Propaganda against the particular community. The director and cast of the movie have always defended the film and they claim that the movie is based on real stories.

Bollywood actor Anupam Kher has again come into the defence of the movie and recently addressed Prakash Raj’s ‘one of the nonsense films’ comments on the movie. He said that some people have to live life with the help of lies.

In a interview with the Navbharat Times, Anupam said,  “Apni apni aukat ki baat karte hain log. Kuch logon ko zindagi bhar jhooth bolna padta hai, kuch log zindagi bhar sach bolte hain. Main un logon mein se hoon jo zindagi bhar sach bol ke zindagi jiyein hain. Jisko jhooth bol ke jeena hai vo uski marzi hai. (People talk according to their status. Some people have to lie all their lives, while others speak the truth. I am one of those who have spoken the truth, throughout my life. Those who want to live by lying, it’s their wish).”

Prakash during an event in Kerala had earlier said, “The Kashmir Files is one of the nonsense films, but we know who produced it. Shameless. International jury spit on them. They are still shameless. The other fellow, the director is still telling, ‘Why I am not getting Oscar?’ He will not even get a Bhaskar.”

“I tell you because there is a sensitive media out there. Here you can do a propaganda film. I know, according to my sources, they have invested around ₹2000 crore only to make films like this. But you can’t fool people all the time,” he further added.

The Kashmir Files movie highlights the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir in the 1990s. It is produced by Zee Studios and stars  Anupam in the lead role alongside Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty and Darshan Kumaar among others.

Karnataka: Cong files complaint against impersonation of official website

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police station against unidentified miscreants who created a website allegedly impersonating the official website of the Congress party.

Through the fake website, false and defamatory messages are being circulated, the complaint said.

The Congress said that the ‘illegitimate’ website is disseminating inaccurate, defamatory, and damaging information which is affecting the image of the KPCC.

The portal pretending to be the official website of the state Congress is powered by Midnight Digital Private Limited, a digital marketing platform that is supposedly based out of Gujarat.

This website is causing severe harm to the image and reputation of the party and its leaders besides causing confusion among the public, the complaint said.

The website is not authorized by the party and it is using the official name, address, and logo of the Congress without its permission, it added.

“The content published on the website is false and defamatory in nature and is intended to malign the image of the party and its leaders,” the complaint stated.

“This constitutes an offense under IPC Section 499 which deals with defamation and Section 505 for dissemination of false information. I request you to take stringent action against the miscreants who have created the illegitimate website and are spreading false content.

“The website should be taken down immediately, and the people behind it should be identified and brought to justice,” said A.S. Ponnanna, senior advocate and Chairman of the Legal Human Rights and RTI Department.

ED files chargesheet against 6 in case of religious conversion of deaf children

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a chargesheet before a court here on Friday against six accused for allegedly laundering money received from Pakistani intelligence agency ISI for the alleged conversion of deaf students and poor people to Islam in Uttar Pradesh.

The chargesheet named Mohammad Umar Gautam, Sallahuddin Zeinuddin Shaikh and Mufti Qazi Jehangir Qasmi, who are currently lodged in judicial custody in Lucknow, as the accused in the case.

The federal agency also named three organisations — Islamic Dawah Centre, Fatimah Charitable Foundation and AFMI Charitable Trust — as the accused in the chargesheet filed before Additional Sessions Judge Rajinder Singh, who put up the matter for consideration on February 17.

According to the document, the agency is tracking proceeds of crime amounting to Rs 3 crore.

The chargesheet, filed by ED’s Special Public Prosecutor N K Matta, alleged that the accused were involved in getting people of another religion converted into Islam on a large scale.

About 1000 non-Muslims have been converted and married to Muslims, the agency said.

Further, it was stated that the accused were running an organisation — Islamic Dawah Centre (IDC) — for the purpose of carrying out conversions and huge funds were provided to it from different sources, including those in foreign countries, the ED said.

It further came to light that students of the Deaf and Dumb School of the NOIDA Deaf Society have been illegally converted through misrepresentation, allurement and fraudulent means, the agency, also represented by advocate Mohammad Faizan Khan, said.

According to the complaint, the accused were involved in promoting enmity between different religious groups and disturbing the sovereignty and integrity of India by influencing non-Muslims to embrace Islam.

  • Matt Schlapp accuser files a second suit against top conservative operative

Matt Schlapp accuser files a second suit against top conservative operative

    [ad_1]

Among other things, the suit accuses Wren of using the plaintiff’s name in tweets and saying he was fired from multiple jobs “for lying and unethical behavior” and for “being a habitual liar.” An attorney for the plaintiff on Jan. 12 sent Wren a letter demanding a retraction of statements she had made about the plaintiff on Twitter, according to the complaint, but Wren “continued to maliciously post statements about Mr. Doe.”

While the plaintiff has been terminated from multiple jobs — including from one last week — his attorney states in the filing that the plaintiff has not lost jobs because he was a liar or unethical.

Wren’s tweets “have placed Mr. Doe into contempt, ridicule, and disgrace within the community,” the complaint states.

The plaintiff is seeking more than $500,000 in damages from Wren.

Wren did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The suit adds another chapter to a political and legal saga that has affected Republican campaign operations and conservative activists, of which Wren is an increasingly influential one.

The plaintiff, a former Herschel Walker campaign staffer, first shared with the Daily Beast his account of Matt Schlapp allegedly sexually assaulting him after a campaign event for the Senate candidate. In a subsequent lawsuit, he provided more details about the alleged incident.

According to the suit, the alleged assault took place in October while Schlapp was in Georgia stumping for Walker. The men went for drinks in Atlanta, where they returned after the staffer drove Schlapp back from a campaign event Oct. 19. The plaintiff accused Schlapp of “aggressively fondling” his “genital area in a sustained fashion” while he was “frozen with fear and panic,” according to the original lawsuit filed Jan. 17.

Schlapp has denied the charges and, through a lawyer, suggested he may counter-sue the plaintiff.

The plaintiff sued Matt Schlapp for both sexual battery and defamation. In addition, he sued Mercedes Schlapp for defamation. Wren was named in the first lawsuit, but was not listed as a defendant.

The plaintiff filed both the suit against the Schlapps and the one against Wren as John Doe, since he says he is a victim of sexual assault. In addition to the more than $500,000 in damages he is seeking from Wren, the plaintiff is seeking more than $9 million from the Schlapps. The couple are prominent Republican commentators. Matt Schlapp chairs the American Conservative Union, which hosts the influential CPAC confab. Two ACU board members have released a statement of support for Schlapp.

The lawsuit against the Schlapps has not stopped CPAC’s largest annual event from going on as planned. The CPAC gathering, scheduled for March 1 through 4 at Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Maryland, is slated to feature Trump and other top GOP figures as speakers.

Kyle Cheney contributed to this report.
