125 feet Dr BR Ambedkar: Know trivia of Hyderabad’s new monument

Hyderabad: As the massive 125 feet statue of Dr BR Ambedkar is up for inauguration on April 14, 2023 (Friday) by Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanthi, here are the important events in the timeline of the construction of this Hyderabad’s latest landmark.
Project announcement
Telangana chief minister K Chandra Shekhar Rao, on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar on 14th April 2016, announced that the government of Telangana will install his 125 feet tall statue at NTR Gardens adjacent to the Secretariat in the city.
From word to work
The State government issued GO Rt No. 211 on April 11, 2016, of the Scheduled Caste Development (BUD.LA) department issued orders for the constitution of Ambedkar Vigraha Aviskarana Committee for the erection of 125 feet tall statue of Dr BR Ambedkar at hillock area of NTR Garden premises, Hyderabad under the chairmanship of the then deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari.

The Government also issued GO Rt No. 291 on May 21, 2016, of Scheduled Caste Development (BUD.LA) department has also constituted a technical committee for collecting relevant information from various organizations for the erection of 125 feet tall statue of Dr BR Ambedkar under the chairmanship of secretary to the government, SCD department.
On April 4, 2018, the government further issued GO Rt No. 152 of Scheduled Caste Development (BUD.LA) department issued orders appointing M/s Design Associates as consultants for the preparation of Detailed Project Report and Project Management Consultancy Services during the construction of the above project.
The consultants prepared two alternatives (Circular and Square pedestals) for approval and the same was presented before the chief minister. The chief minister approved the circular base option.
Circular base structure similar to Indian Parliament
Based on Option-II i.e Ambedkar statue on a circular base building structure similar to Indian Parliament approved by the chief minister, the consultants ‘M/s Design Associates’ submitted a detailed estimate for Rs.146.50 Crores based on quotations from Ram Sutar Fine Arts Pvt Ltd & Mattu Ram Arts Studios Pvt Ltd, Delhi who are renowned sculptors.
The administrative sanction was accorded by the government for Rs. 146.50 Crores vide GO Ms No.2 Scheduled Castes Development (Bud.LA) department dated November 15, 2020.

The Engineer-in-Chief (R&B) Buildings & NH accorded technical sanction for Rs.146.50 Crores based on the administrative sanction accorded by the government and initiated the tender process and the work was entrusted to M/s KPC Projects Limited, Hyderabad. The agreement was concluded on June 3 with a stipulated period of 12 months and work commenced.

When legends meet: Arijit Singh touches Dhoni’s feet at IPL opening ceremony

Video: Saudi woman makes history by skydiving from 15K feet with national flag

Riyadh: Razan Al-Ajami, the first Saudi Arabian woman to receive a skydiving license, has now become the first woman to skydive from 15,000 feet carrying Kingdom’s flag.
Razan Al-Ajami, posted a video clip on Instagram, where she is seen walking confidently toward the plane, wearing a white T-shirt with an outline of the map of Saudi Arabia on the front and the flag on her sleeve.
After the jump, she raises the flag as she sinks to the ground.
“Achieving my dream to jump with country flag is starting now,” Razan Al Ajami said in the caption of the Instagram video.

Al-Ajami encourages and invites more Saudi women to try this sport, and super fly at Boulevard World is a great opportunity to do so.
Al-Ajami’s ultimate dream is to represent Saudi Arabia while competing in the World Skydiving Championships. She wants to leave a mark and make Saudi Arabia a global hub for this sport.
She received her training and skydiving license in Dubai, where the sport is practiced more than in the Kingdom.
She now plans to establish a first skydiving club in the Kingdom to increase the number of practitioners of this sport.

Rani Mukherjee touches feet of Karan Johar at ‘Mrs. Chatterjee v/s Norway’ event

Mumbai: The makers of Rani Mukherjee’s upcoming emotional drama ‘Mrs Chatterjee v/s Norway’ hosted a press meet on Friday, which turned out to be an eventful one.

Planes involved in Austin near-miss came within 100 feet of each other

“We’re really digging into the communications between [air traffic control], Southwest, FedEx — especially in relation to weather issues,” she said, referring to a host of causes that could have contributed to the near miss. It was an extraordinarily close call, especially considering that aircraft often maintain thousands of feet, and often miles of space, at minimum away from one another.
Both the Federal Aviation Administration and NTSB, an independent agency that investigates transportation accidents, are probing the event, which happened over the span of roughly two minutes.
It’s not the only near-miss in recent months. In January, an American Airlines flight crossed ahead of a Delta Air Lines flight at John F. Kennedy International Airport, an incident that the NTSB continues to investigate.
In that case, both aircraft were within about 1,400 feet of each other, Homendy said, but JFK’s air traffic controllers were able to take action based on a technology the airport has equipped that tracks ground-level movement of aircraft and vehicles on the grounds of an airport. Homendy said roughly 35 airports around the country have the technology equipped; Austin does not.
“Air traffic controllers in Austin could see the FedEx plane coming in, but couldn’t actually see where the Southwest plane was in relation to the FedEx plane because the Southwest plane was on the ground,” Homendy explained. “Had they had that technology … they would have been able to see both the FedEx flight and the Southwest flight.”
Homendy said she expects both near-miss incidents to come up at a hearing on aviation safety slated for Tuesday before the House Transportation Committee, where she will also testify.
