Soldier Dies After Falling Down During Exercise

SRINAGAR: An army soldier died after falling down during an exercise in the Drugmulla area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday.
An official stated that the soldier, Mohd Yousuf Bhat, was currently undergoing cadre training at the battalion headquarters 160 TA JAK RIF and fell down during a PT exercise. He was immediately rushed to Drugmulla, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code have already been initiated, the official added. (KS)

Woman Feared Dead After Falling Off Bridge in Ramsoo

Ramban, May 6 (GNS): A woman is feared to have died after she fell from a bridge at Ramsoo area in Ramban district this afternoon, officials said.
They told GNS that the woman was washed away by a strong water current after she fell off the Shangan bridge at Nachliana Ramsoo.
Soon after the incident, a joint rescue operation was launched by police and locals in and around the site.
Confirming it, a police official told GNS that they are ascertaining the facts regarding the incident. (GNS)

CRPF Inspector Dies After Falling From Cliff In JK

SRINAGAR: An officer of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) lost his life after he fell from a cliff during an operational area domination patrol in the village of Sunderbani in the Rajouri district.
The deceased Inspector has been identified as Sunil Kumar (37), a resident of Patna and belonged to CRPF 122 Battalion. He was part of CRPF companies that have been deployed as an additional force in Rajouri and Poonch districts after the January 1 Dhangri attack, an official said.
He said that during the operational duty and long-range patrol in Mohra Larya of Bhajwal village in Sunderbani, the officer slipped from the cliff and fell into a gorge.
He was taken out of the gorge and rushed to sub-district hospital Sunderbani by other CRPF and police personnel but was declared brought dead.
The body of the deceased has been kept in civil hospital Sunderbani for medico-legal formalities and police have started legal proceedings into the matter—(KNO)

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) handed over a check of Rs 2 lakhs to the family of Mounika, the girl who recently died after falling into a pit in Kalasiguda.
Maunika’s family has been assured of from the government.
The Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi on Saturday visited Kalasiguda, Secunderabad, where a 10-year-old girl fell into an open manhole and lost her life.

The incident took place when Mounica was going home with her older brother after purchasing groceries.
She fell into a manhole while trying to save her brother from falling into it. Her body was found by the GHMC DRF team and local police in a nala near Park Lane, Secunderabad.
Speaking to reporters, the mayor termed the incident unfortunate. “Action will be taken against the engineer. An ex-gratia Rs of 2 lakhs has been announced for Monica’s family,” Vijayalakshmi said.
In another incident that occurred on Tuesday, a six-year-old boy died after falling into a pit filled with rainwater.
Vivek accidentally fell into the pit while playing nearby and drowned. The incident occurred on Jubilee Hills Road Number 45.

The boy fell into a pit in an open space beside a motorbike showroom where his father was employed.
The family had shifted to Hyderabad from Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh about six years ago. The boy’s father Bheema Shankar works as a watchman in a motorbike showroom.

An official said that Muhammad Abdullah (70) son of Ab Jabbar, a resident of Wachi Zainpora in Shopian fell from the slab of his house on Saturday morning. He was rushed to nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, he said.

15-Year-Old Girl Dies After Falling Into Drain

SRINAGAR: A 15-year-old girl lost her life after she fell into a drain at Hirpora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Quoting an official, KNO reported that a girl from Hirpora was on way to her uncle’s house in Bhorihallen when she fell into a drain at Bhorihallen.
He said that she was taken to hospital in an unconscious condition and was shifted to District Hospital Shopian where she died.
She has been identified as Simran Jan, daughter of Sheraz Ahmad of Hirpora. She was a Class 10th student.

Mumbai: The new promotional video of the upcoming Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer film ‘Dream Girl 2’ leaves viewers grinning. In the recently released video, Ayushmann Khurrana’s character Pooja can be seen talking to Bollywood superstar Bhaijaan ahead of Eid as the latter’s voice on the other side of the phone rings familiar.
The tongue-in-cheek conversation between Bhaijaan and Pooja has both of them in the middle of a nice romantic conversation as Bhaijaan is eager to catch a glimpse of Pooja’s face and asks her to reveal herself. As Pooja tries to switch on the video call with Bhaijaan, the lights go off leaving Bhaijaan and fans on a cliffhanger.
This is the third promotional video featuring Pooja, the previous videos featured Pathan and Rockstar. The film, which is a sequel to Khurrana’s 2019 hit ‘Dream Girl’, promises to be a rib-tickling and entertaining film with palpable chemistry between Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday.

Edu Deptt seeks list of Govt schools falling above radius of seven KMs by foot

Srinagar, Apr 20: School Education Department Thursday sought a list of government schools falling above a radius of seven kilometers or more on foot.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Personal Officer (PO) at Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) had issued a communique to all Chief Education Officers (CEOs) of the region.
“In this regard, you are asked to verify the distance of such schools and furnish the same to DSEJ,” it reads.
The PO said, “If any other schools in Jammu Division apart from the list issued by DSEJ where a distance of more than 7 km is required to be covered on foot and same may also be communicated to DSEJ itself through return mail.”
The officer has informed the CEOs to treat the matter as most urgent.
In the meantime, top officials at DSEK said that the move is aimed for internal purposes.
“As of now, we are consolidating the data for internal use and we will see what will be done to those schools after the transfer drive,” the official said.

Stone Quarry Worker Dies After Falling From Cliff

SRINAGAR: In a tragic incident, a worker fell to death at a stone quarry in the Safapora area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday.
An official said that a worker, Gulzar Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir, a resident of Kondbal Safapora, who was working at a stone quarry lost his balance and fell from a high cliff, resulting in his death on the spot.
Police were immediately informed and a team from the local police station was dispatched to the site, the official said, adding that the police have started an investigation in this regard. (KNO)
