Aurangabad: Aurangabad MP Imtiaz Jaleel has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking inquiry by a retired High Court judge into the violence witnessed in the city ahead of Ram Navami.

A mob went on a rampage and set fire to 13 police vehicles in Aurangabad’s Kiradpura area on the intervening night of March 29 and 30.

The incident just ahead of the festival could have had disastrous repercussions in the country, the AIMIM leader said in the letter sent through the Aurangabad district collector and released to the media on Friday.

Jaleel also questioned why CCTV footage of the incident was not available when the entire city has been covered by a CCTV network under the Smart City project.

There were many unanswered questions which create suspicion that it was a planned clash, and hence the prime minister should ask the Maharashtra government to conduct an inquiry through a retired high court judge, the letter said.

CBI registers preliminary enquiry into ‘forced religious conversion’ in Malda

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The CBI has initiated a preliminary enquiry into an alleged case of forced conversion in West Bengal’s Malda district on the direction from the Calcutta High Court last year, officials said.

The agency has registered the preliminary enquiry, the first step before registering an FIR to prima facie detect criminality in the allegations, to probe the forced conversion of two brothers for allegedly supporting a rival political party during the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections.

Wives of these brothers had approached the High Court claiming that their husbands, residents of Kaliachak area of Malda district, were converted from Hinduism to Islam by force as part of a punishment for working for a political party which lost the assembly polls.

The petitioners, who are also sisters, submitted that their husbands were missing since November 24, 2021 and the police did not take any step in tracing the men.

The state government, however, submitted that the two had converted to Islam voluntarily and left home because of a family dispute.

  • As J&K HC Orders Fresh Enquiry into APTECH Case, LG Manoj Sinha Displeasure Over Any Pre-emptive Statement

    [ad_1]

Srinagar, Mar 11 (GNS): As JKSSRB aspirants continue to protest to seek blacklisting of APTECH Company in J&K, the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Saturday expressed his displeasure over any pre-emptive statement or comment by anyone citing the nature of the matter.

Talking to media persons on the sidelines of an event pertaining to Tawi River Front, Sinha, as per GNS, said that any statement or comment at this point of time will tantamount to disrespecting and interfering into the Court decision.

“I believe that if a case is under consideration (sub-judice) before a Court, and even when a decision has been made (into the matter) yesterday, discussing it or giving any comment regarding this tantamount to interfering into the Court decision and such a thing isn’t allowed by the Constitution of India.”

Notably, a division bench of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court on Friday directed a single bench to hear and decide the petition challenging the engagement of the Mumbai-based APTECH firm by the Jammu & Kashmir administration for conducting various recruitment exams. The division bench set aside a single bench’s order to cancel the contract allotted to the firm and maintained that the interim directions shall remain in force. (GNS)

  • Rajasthan police launch enquiry into Ramdev’s remarks on Muslims, Christians

Rajasthan police launch enquiry into Ramdev’s remarks on Muslims, Christians

    [ad_1]

Rajasthan police on Saturday launched a suo moto enquiry into the controversial remarks made by Yoga guru Baba Ramdev about Muslims and Christians at an event in Rajasthan’s Barmer, according to reports.

The renowned yoga guru Ramdev Baba made a bigoted speech against Muslims and Christians and claimed that while Muslims are busy ‘making terrorists in the name of namaz’, Christians are performing religious conversions.

He was addressing a crowd in the Barmer district. “Ask any Muslim what your religion teaches, and they say, ‘keep reading namaz every day and do whatever you want’ even if that means kidnapping Hindu women. This is their definition of Islam. They are sinners, our Muslim brothers,” Ramdev said.

“Read the namaz daily and then do whatever you want, even if that means becoming a terrorist,” he added.

He said that the idea of Islamic heaven is beautiful angels and alcohol. “All these people have to do is shave their moustache, wear a white kurta-pyjama and a topi,” he said, further clarifying that though Islam or the Quran does not say such things, this is what is being spread. “I am not saying that Islam or the Quran ask them to do it but they are doing it anyhow,” he said.

He said that such a concept of heaven is worse than hell.

Coming to Christians he says, “What does Christianity say? Go to church, light a candle, and then stand in front of the Lord Jesus, all your sins are washed away.” He talks about the cross. a holy sign in Christians as well as the Rosary necklace (Rosary means a chain of roses and each rose is a prayer).

“They have some cross-like sign on their neck and then other chains that looks alike like ours,” he said.

He again clarifies that he is not against any religion in particular and then goes on to mention religious conversions. “Muslims want the whole world to convert to Islam and Christians want the whole world to accept Christianity as their major religion,” he said.
