The ET report suggested that the Centre is planning to revise the DA and fitment factor after March 8. Currently, the common fitment factor is at 2.57%, which means an employee who receives Rs 15,500 in 4200 Grade Pay, would get a total pay of Rs 39, 835, by multiplying (Rs 15,500 x 2.57) as per 6th Central Pay Commission.

Earlier, the 6th pay commission had recommended the fitment ratio at 1.86 %, while the 7th CPC recommended 2.57%, at which the Central government employees are being paid at present. The central government employees, however, now demand that the fitment factor should be hiked to 3.68. • Twitter employees to soon receive stock awards: Musk

Twitter employees to soon receive stock awards: Musk

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: After another round of layoffs over the weekend, Twitter CEO Elon Musk informed the remaining employees that they will receive acevery significant” performance-based stock awards on March 24.

“This past week, we completed a difficult organisational overhaul focused on improving future execution, using as much feedback as we could gather from the entire company,” Musk wrote in an internal memo on Monday obtained by The Verge.

“Those who remain are highly regarded by those around them,” he added.

The memo, titled “Performance Awards”, was Musk’s first message to Twitter staff since he fired hundreds more employees over the weekend, including some senior loyalists and almost the whole product team.

However, he hasn’t yet shared any details about “how he will make up for the stock awards that went away when he took Twitter private”, the report said.

He also previously made internal comments in which he mentioned the structure he established at SpaceX to allow employees to regularly sell the company’s stock to interested investors.

Now, the company likely has less than 2,000 employees, which was about 7,500 when Musk took over.

“I think he’s just tearing this thing down to the studs and trying to run as lean as possible till the market turns around,” a recently laid-off employee said.

Recently, more than 50 employees were laid off, which were spread across several departments.

Twitter product manager Esther Crawford, who led the Blue project and Martijn de Kuijper, the creator of the now-shuttered Revue newsletter platform that Twitter acquired in 2021, were among them.

With this recent cut, Musk has done at least four rounds of layoffs.

This is happening despite his promise not to sack more employees after his brutal layoff exercise in November last year that affected two-thirds of the micro-blogging platform’s 7,500 employees.

  • RBI lost 46 employees to Covid, related complications

RBI lost 46 employees to Covid, related complications

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday said it lost 46 employees to Covid and related complications.

The central bank mentioned about the deaths in the compendium on business continuity measures taken during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to RBI, it introduced a Special Ex-gratia Package and a Special Scheme of Compassionate Appointment for dependents of employees dying in harness due to Covid or due to post-Covid complications happening within six months of last such infection since March 1, 2020.

“As on December 31, 2022, dependents of 46 deceased employees were paid the ex-gratia amount and dependents of 32 deceased employees accepted compassionate appointment in addition to the ex-gratia package,” it said.

Under the scheme, ex-gratia was extended to the dependents of regular full time/ part-time employees.

In addition, the offer of compassionate appointment was also extended to either the spouse or any one eligible dependent child of full-time regular employees on fulfilment of stipulated age and eligibility criteria.

To tackle the challenges posed by the pandemic, RBI mobilised at an unprecedented scale and speed to put in place a cross-functional response to safeguard lives and livelihood of the people as well as insulate the economy and the financial sector.

These measures were taken to ensure uninterrupted conduct of its crucial functions and maintaining business continuity; supporting its employees, service providers and other stakeholders.

“More than one hundred measures, both conventional and unconventional, were undertaken during the period. The effort was to be proactive and innovative, while remaining on guard to preserve financial stability,” it said.

In the foreword to the compendium, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said Business Continuity Management (BCM) has hitherto meant protecting organisations against events like natural calamities, geo-political disturbances, cyber attacks and other disruptions that have the potential of interrupting smooth functioning of an organisation.

“An unknown virus, i.e., coronavirus, of the size of 0.125 microns, unleashed a once in a century pandemic and completely redefined our understanding of BCM,” he said.

Das said through the troubled times, RBI had to continually assess and revalidate its readiness for uninterrupted operations, leverage varied data feeds for continuous monitoring, consider consequences and impacts of its measures, and design and implement rapid but coordinated responses across verticals.

“We also proactively communicated through public statements and in other forms of guidance, reassuring the public at large about the stability and resilience of the financial system while supporting banks and financial institutions and the economy as a whole.

“Our basic message was: RBI is tirelessly at work to shield the Indian economy from the pandemic,” he said.

The compendium said one of the major challenges faced included, ensuring sufficient printing of currency, timely supply of currency and ensuring availability of currency at the last point while bearing in mind the safety of treasure and human resources involved.

“Execution of (these) activities involved considerable coordination with the multiple stakeholders in the network,” it said.

To deal with the challenges posed by the pandemic, RBI took slew of measures, including those related to monetary policy, liquidity management, and regulation.

“While the pandemic threatened to cause never-before disruptions across the business landscape, recognising its people as pivots, RBI chose to assign primacy to employee empathy so that the workforce well-being is not compromised and the employees remain safe and motivated,” it said.

Some companies begin replacing human employees with ChatGPT

    [ad_1]

San Francisco: Microsoft-owned ChatGPT has started replacing humans at workplaces as some companies have implemented the AI chatbot to perform the work being done earlier by employees, saving thousands of dollars.

Companies that use ChatGPT said they saved money using the AI tool, with 48 per cent saved over $50,000 and 11 per cent saved over $100,000, according to a report in Fortune.

Job advice platform Resumebuilder.com surveyed 1,000 business leaders who either use or plan to use ChatGPT.

It found that about half of their companies have implemented chatbots. And nearly half of this group say that “ChatGPT has already converted employees at their companies”.

“As this new technology is growing in the workplace right now, workers definitely need to think about how it may affect their current job responsibilities,” Stacey Haller, chief career advisor at Resume Builder was quoted as saying in the report.

Companies are using ChatGPT to write codes, copywriting and content creation, customer support and preparing meeting summaries.

About 77 per cent of firms using ChatGPT said they use it to help write job descriptions and 66 per cent said the AI chatbot is drafting interview solicitations.

In a survey, Resume Builder found that job seekers are also utilising AI chatbot ChatGPT for resumes and cover letters.

Almost 1 in 2 current and recent job seekers have used ChatGPT to write their resumes and/or cover letters.

Of the 1,000 respondents who admitted to using ChatGPT for their application materials, 72 per cent said they used the tool to write cover letters, and 51 per cent say they used it to write resumes.

Most respondents were satisfied with the results from ChatGPT, as 76 per cent of respondents said the quality of application materials written by ChatGPT is ‘high’ or ‘very high’.

Additionally, 28 per cent said they only had to do ‘a little bit’ or ‘no’ editing to resumes and/or cover letters written by ChatGPT.

Microsoft recently introduced AI-powered Bing search engine, Edge web browser, and integrated Chat.

The company is testing it with a select set of people in over 169 countries to get real-world feedback to learn and improve.
