Now Google places Blue verified check marks on email senders

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: After Twitter, Google has now announced to display a Blue checkmark next to a sender’s name to verify their identity and minimise scams, which is free at the moment.

In 2021, the company first introduced Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) in Gmail, a feature that requires senders to use strong authentication and verify their brand logo in order to display a brand logo as an avatar in emails.

“Building upon that feature, users will now see a checkmark icon for senders that have adopted BIMI. This will help users identify messages from legitimate senders versus impersonators,” the company said in a statement.

    MS Education Academy

The feature has been rolled out and is available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers, along with users with personal Google accounts.

Companies that have adopted BIMI will automatically receive the checkmark.

“Strong email authentication helps users and email security systems identify and stop spam, and also enables senders to leverage their brand trust,” said the tech giant.

“This increases confidence in email sources and gives readers an immersive experience, creating a better email ecosystem for everyone,” it added.

The Blue check mark comes to Google after Elon Musk removed all legacy Blue badges on the platform, and now charges Rs 900 a month (Rs 9,400 a year) from individual users for Blue ticks and $1,000 from organisations for Gold ticks.

Meta is also testing paid verification for Instagram and Facebook for $11.99 per month on web and $14.99 per month on mobile.

Its CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that a “Meta Verified” account will grant users a verified badge, increased visibility on the platforms, prioritised customer support, and more.

The feature was rolled out to Australia and New Zealand in February and will arrive in more countries “soon”.

UIDAI allows users to verify email IDs, mobile numbers seeded with Aadhaar

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Keeping user benefits in mind, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has allowed residents to verify their mobile numbers and email IDs seeded with their Aadhaar.

It had come to the notice of the UIDAI that in some instances, residents were not aware or sure about which of their mobile numbers is seeded to their Aadhaar.

Hence residents were worried that Aadhaar OTP might be going to some other mobile number.

    MS Education Academy

Now, with this facility, the residents can check these quite easily, IT ministry sources said.

The facility can be availed under Verify email/mobile Number’ feature on the official website (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/) or through mAadhaar App.

It has been developed for the residents to verify that their own email or mobile number is seeded with respective Aadhaar.

This feature gives confirmation to residents that email or mobile number under his or her knowledge is only seeded to respective Aadhaar, sources informed further.

It also notifies the resident in case a particular mobile number is not linked, and informs residents to take necessary steps to update the mobile number, if they wish so.

In case the mobile number is already verified residents will see a message like, the mobile number you have entered is already verified with our records’, displayed on their screen.

In case a resident does not remember the mobile number, she or he has given during enrolment she or he can check the last three digits of the mobile on Verify Aadhaar feature on the My Aadhaar portal or mAadhaar App.

If a resident wants to link an email or mobile number with Aadhaar or wants to update her or his email or mobile number, she or he may visit the nearest Aadhaar centre.

  • US becoming ‘Marxist Third World’ country, Trump says in email before his surrender

US becoming ‘Marxist Third World’ country, Trump says in email before his surrender

    [ad_1]

Washington: Hours before his arraignment, former president Donald Trump sent an email to his supporters, which he claimed was the last one before his arrest, saying that the United States is becoming a “Marxist Third World” country and went on social media questioning the fairness of the judiciary.

“My last email before my arrest,” Trump said in the subject line of the email sent to his supporters hours before he was scheduled to be arraigned in a Manhattan court to face criminal charges in connection with hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016.

He was indicted last Thursday by a federal grand jury in connection with USD 1,30,000 hush money payments to Daniels before the US presidential election in 2016 to cover up an alleged affair. Trump, 76, is expected to plead not guilty.

“Today, we mourn the loss of justice in America. Today is the day that a ruling political party ARRESTS its leading opponent for having committed NO CRIME,” Trump wrote.

“As I will be out of commission for the next few hours, I want to take this moment to THANK YOU for all of your support. I am blown away by all of the donations, support, and prayers we have received. It’s sad to see what’s happening not for myself but for our country,” he said.

In less than 24 hours after being indicted he raised over more than USD 4 million.

“Our nation is becoming a Marxist Third World country that CRIMINALIZES dissent and IMPRISONS its political opposition. But do NOT lose hope in America! We are a nation that declared its independence from the world’s biggest empire, won two world wars, and landed the first man on the moon. Resilience is in our blood,” he said.

“Our movement has overcome so much. And there is no doubt in my mind that we will prevail once again and WIN the White House in 2024,” Trump wrote.

Trump is expected to speak at least twice on Tuesday, one of them being a live press conference from Mar-a-Lago in Florida later in the night. Media reports said that he might speak before or after his arraignment. He is the first former US president to be arrested on criminal charges.

Taking up the social media platform Truth Social, Trump called for moving the case from lower Manhattan to nearby Staten Island. “Very unfair venue, with some areas that voted one per cent Republican. This case should be moved to nearby Staten Island Would be a very fair and secure location for the trial,” Trump wrote.

Salman Khan threat email: Mumbai cops apprehend man from Rajasthan

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: The Mumbai police have apprehended a man from Rajasthan in connection with an email threatening actor Salman Khan that was received at the latter’s office here recently, an official said on Sunday.

The accused was nabbed by a team of Bandra police station and is being brought to Mumbai, an official said. The accused Dhakad Ram Bishnoi (21) is a resident of Siyagon ki Dhani in Rohicha Kalan village under the Luni police station in Jodhpur. He was on bail in a case of Arms Act, police said.

Jodhpur’s DCP (West) Gaurav Yadav said a team from Mumbai’s Bandra police station arrived here to arrest Bishnoi on Sunday. “They asked us to assist them in detaining Bishnoi. We provided them support and handed Bishnoi over to the Mumbai Police,” said Yadav.

The complaint about the threat e-mail was recently lodged at the Bandra police station by one Prashant Gunjalkar, who according to police, frequently visits the Bandra-based residence of Salman Khan and runs an artist management company.

When Gunjalkar was present in Khan’s office in Galaxy Apartment recently, he noticed an email had been received from the ID “Rohit Garg”. The sender of the e-mail, written in Hindi, said: “Goldy Bhai (gangster Goldy Brar) wanted to talk to Salman Khan face-to-face to close the matter”, adding, “Agli baar, jhatka dekhne ko milega (You’ll see something shocking)”, the police had said.

“After a detailed technical investigation into the case, police got information about the accused person’s whereabouts, following which a team was sent to Rajasthan and the man was apprehended,” the official said.

He is being interrogated by a police team about the threat to the actor, he said.

After the threat mail was received, the Mumbai police had registered a first information report (FIR) against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. The FIR was registered under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 506-II (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the police said.

Yadav said Bishnoi had been arrested in September last year by the Sardarpura police for possessing illegal weapon and was out on bail.

However, no link between him and Lawrence Bishnoi or any other local gang has come to the notice during investigation so far, he added.

Jodhpur police officials said a case had also been registered against Bishnoi at Mansa’s Sadar police in Punjab on March 24 for sending a similar threatening mail to the father of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

A team of Punjab Police also reached Jodhpur to arrest Bishnoi on Sunday, he said.

However, the Punjab Police will have to wait to claim Bishnoi’s custody until Mumbai police completes its investigation, he added.

  • British Sikh MP gets threatening email saying ‘watch your back’

British Sikh MP gets threatening email saying ‘watch your back’

    [ad_1]

London: Britain’s first female Sikh MP Preet Kaur Gill has said she was forced to contact police after receiving a threatening email message saying: “watch your back”.

The senior Labour MP for Birmingham, Edgbaston said that following the email, she is forced to keep a bodyguard at her constituency surgery meetings.

“It was very direct. It’s a worry because I’m with my daughters in the constituency all the time. My family live there. It really puts into context the kind of job that you do. It’s tough enough as it is, but then when you’re faced with that, there’s very little support. This latest direct threat has really worried and concerned me,” Gill told GB News on Saturday.

“As a woman, when you put yourself forward and you want to address injustices and you care about issues that affect your constituents, you’re then faced with people that think it’s okay to say this sort of stuff to you.”

Instead of using an alias, the threat was sent from a legitimate account with a genuine email address, which left Gill shocked.

“I could not believe that this person used their place of work email to actually make that threat,” Gill, who had been a target of hate campaigns in the past, said.

Gill has reported the incident to the West Midlands Police.

“Once you’ve raised it with the police, they’ve got to go away and do an investigation, but there’s no real understanding of the impact it has on you, your everyday work, the psychological impact, the kind of always looking behind your shoulder,” she told GB News.

Gill was recently accused of undermining victims of sexual abuse, according to a Guardian report.

The Shadow Secretary of State for International Development, had sent a series of WhatsApp messages on a group undermining allegations of sexual abuse within gurdwaras.

  • Email ids created with PMO.in domain name, CBI lodges FIR

Email ids created with PMO.in domain name, CBI lodges FIR

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an FIR against the users of three email IDs for using PMO.in as their domain name.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) lodged a complaint in this respect on the basis of which the CBI filed the FIR under section 170 and 419 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

“The accused who created email IDs using the PMO.in as their domain name sent emails to different persons. It came into the notice of the Prime Ministers’ Office and they decided to take action against the culprits as the matter was serious in nature,” a CBI official said.

The official said that three email IDs were pradeep.s@pm.o.in, hetal-gandhi@pmo.in, and indradeep.ghosh@pmo.in and they were trying to find out who were the accused behind the matter.

“The PMO had said that prima facie it was a case of fraud and misuse of the name of Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), and its officials as neither the domain names used to send the emails nor the persons mentioned as senders of the said emails were from PMO. Initially we initiated a preliminary inquiry into the matter. The findings of the same also corroborated the facts mentioned in the complaint lodged by the PMO. A crime is made out by the accused by creating email IDS by creating a domain name in the name of PMO, and hence we have lodged an FIR,” the official said, adding that probe was on.
