    The memo was sent hours before a New York court delivered a verdict finding that Trump was guilty of sexual abuse of advice columnist E. Jean Carroll and awarding her $5 million in damages for that and defamation.

    Budowich’s memo is, to a degree, a classic boast of a campaign that finds itself in a leading position. He describes Trump as “thoroughly vetted on a national stage” and portrays the legal troubles surrounding the ex-president as fundamentally good for him. “GOP voters aren’t just supporting President Trump overwhelmingly despite the investigations, they are supporting him because of the investigations,” he writes. He also writes that the argument Trump is “not electable” doesn’t hold water with recent polling.

    But the memo is also notable in another respect: underscoring that Team Trump isn’t content to rest on its current lead but eager to keep attacking its main competitors. The memo bashes DeSantis’ Florida legislative session as a “bucket of cold water” for the governor.

    “On top of losing major financial backers and cratering poll numbers, the most memorable part of his legislative session is that he picked a fight with Disney and lost,” Budowich writes. “DeSantis invested tremendous political capital to pass a 6-week abortion ban — in contrast, President Trump maintains a strong pro-life record with exceptions for rape and incest.”

    The memo comes as DeSantis inches closer to making a presidential announcement and as Trump’s team is going after high dollar donors for support — some of whom have publicly wobbled on support for DeSantis or have put their donations on ice until they have a more clear picture of the field. The latest sign that the Florida governor plans to announce soon: DeSantis recently severed ties with his state-level PAC, which has a whopping $86 million, opening the door for that money to be transferred to a pro-DeSantis super PAC supporting his presidential ambitions.

    Last month, Never Back Down, the pro-DeSantis PAC, said it had raised $30 million. The PAC also plans to have staff in the first 18 states on the Republican nominating calendar, according to the AP.

    “While Governor DeSantis tallied up an impressive number of wins for the people of Florida this legislative session, Donald Trump offers the same old, pathetic attacks right out of Nancy Pelosi’s playbook to attempt to diminish the Governor’s conservative success story,” said Erin Perrine, the communications director for Never Back Down in a statement. “Donald Trump blamed the pro-life movement for his endorsed candidates’ losses in the 2022 midterm elections, and states like Trump’s real home, New York, have legalized infanticide up until birth. In Florida, Governor DeSantis has enacted historic measures to defend the dignity of human life and transform Florida into a pro-family state,” she added.

    At the end of 2022, MAGA Inc. reported $54.1 million on hand, and the PAC has spent millions on national cable ads taking direct aim at DeSantis’ record on Medicare and Social Security. The PAC also paid for an eyebrow raising ad that accused DeSantis of “sticking his fingers where they don’t belong” into entitlements. The ad was also a reference to a story about DeSantis using his fingers to eat chocolate pudding on an airplane.

    The MAGA Inc. memo, according to a PAC official, was being circulated on an individual basis Tuesday “to current, past, and targeted donors to MAGA Inc. and like-minded committees” as it “makes a strong push for unity as it looks towards the end for the quarter.”

    After a disappointing midterm election for Republicans, where some important primary races were split over Trump’s endorsement and involvement, the memo calls on donors to rally around one singular Republican candidate to best help 2024 down ballot candidates.

    “The 2024 cycle presents a promising opportunity for Republicans to realize massive gains in the U.S. Senate, House of Representatives, and down ballot races across the nation. Unifying early and focusing our collective resources towards maximizing our gains can be the difference maker,” Budowich writes.

    The theme for this year’s World Red Cross Day was ‘Everything we do come from the heart’ and the main function was held at the mini-secretariat Kulgam which was presided over by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam, Viqar Ahmed Girri.

    Tehsildar Hq and other officers attended the programme, besides students from various educational institutions also participated and highlighted the importance of the day.

    Speaking on the occasion, the ADC highlighted the historical background of the Red Cross and Red cross movement which is a global humanitarian network that operates in nearly every country around the world and provides assistance and support to those in need during emergencies, disasters, conflicts and other crises.

    He said that the movement works to alleviate human suffering, protect human dignity and promote peace, health and well-being.

    He added that the celebration of the day must ignite commitment to work for the betterment and welfare of the people and we all shall be ready to extend our help and support to the people in need around us.

    Meanwhile, a blood donation camp was also organized at mini-secretariat in which employees and media persons donated blood.

    Waters recalled speaking with someone from Silicon Valley Bank around 2020 about FinTech issues but said she does not remember details.

    “Everybody knows I have an open-door policy,” she said. But she maintained that she did not speak with the bank about the 2018 bill that loosened up regulations of banks like SVB. Waters opposed the bipartisan measure, which has come under renewed scrutiny since the California-based bank’s collapse. Lobbyists for Silicon Valley Bank were among those that lobbied on the bill.

    “Philosophically, I’m opposed to deregulation, always have been, been consistent on it and will continue to be,” Waters said.

    Between 2017 and 2022, Silicon Valley Bank’s PAC gave more than $50,000 to the campaigns of nearly two dozen senators and representatives, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission. The donations largely went to members — Republicans and Democrats — who served on relevant committees including the House Financial Services Committee or Senate Finance Committee. Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) received the most from the PAC, each bringing in $7,500 over the six-year period.

    Silicon Valley Bank’s CEO, Greg Becker, also made maximum individual donations to the campaigns of Warner and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) during the 2022 cycle, FEC records show. A Schumer spokesperson on Tuesday said the contributions have been donated to charity.

    Representatives for the offices of Warner and others who received money from the bank’s PAC did not return requests for comment. Warner previously released a statement praising regulators’ response to the bank run, while McHenry similarly expressed confidence in financial regulators.

    The bank’s sudden collapse has put a spotlight back on the 2018 deregulation law, which exempted medium-sized banks from conducting regular stress tests.

    Lobbyists from Franklin Square Group, which has worked on behalf of Silicon Valley Bank and other financial services clients, also made individual contributions to some lawmakers near the vote on the 2018 law. Among the recipients were Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.), who received more than $8,000 total from three lobbyists a few weeks after the Senate passed the bill but before it went to the House for approval, where Sinema was a member at the time.

    A lobbying disclosure by Franklin Square Group in 2018 lists that bill as one of its lobbying activities.

    Rep. Ruben Gallego, a Democrat challenging Sinema in the 2024 Senate race, has sought to make a campaign issue of the donations, pointing to the contributions in a press conference in Tempe, Ariz., this week. Sinema has not announced yet whether she is running for reelection.

    “When we were presented with the same information, I voted to protect Arizonans,” said Gallego. “She voted to give the banks free rein.”

    A spokesperson for Sinema said the senator has questioned regulators about how they managed SVB’s unique level of specific concentration risk. In a tweet about the bank this week, Sinema tweeted that the “federal government must now ensure those responsible are held accountable, while maintaining stability for all Americans who rely on our banking system.”

    Srinagar, Mar 11: Chief Education Officer Anantnag has warned private schools of the district not to charge donation and capitation fee from parents at the time of admission after several complaints from parents.

    According to a circular issued by CEO Anantnag, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the office has also received complaints that private schools have kept text books available at particular bookshops in violation of the norms.

    “It has come to the notice of this office that some private schools of the district instead of implementing government orders and circulars issued from time to time with regard to fee structures, common curricular and other activities have framed their own bylaws, contradicting government orders and circulars,” the circular reads.

    CEO has also directed all recognised private schools to implement orders and circulars of the government issued from time to time and act accordingly.

    “No private school shall charge any kind of capitation, admission fee or donation as per government order and Right to Education Act 2009,” it reads.

    It also states no private school is allowed to sell any kind of books to students through their tuck shops.

    CEO Anantnag has further stated there should be common curriculum in schools for the upcoming academic session from class 6th onwards as per the New Education Policy 2020.

    “The instructions are to be adhered in letter and spirit and if any school is found making violation of Government orders or circulars, action as warranted under rules shall be initiated against the erring school,” the circular reads.

    It reads the schools will face de-recognition in case they are found violating the government orders. “The action against erring schools may include their cancellation of recognition and registration without any further notice.”—(KNO)

    Riyadh: The value of donations from the Saudi Arabia popular campaign for relief to those affected by the Turkey-Syria earthquakes has reached 251 million Saudi riyals (Rs 5,52,14,07,813) on Saturday, February 11.

    On February 8, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center launched a popular campaign to collect donations through the Sahem platform to help the earthquake victims. The number of donors has so far reached about 715,622 people.

    Since its launch, the frequent update of the campaign platform shows a remarkable increase in the number of participants and value of donations.

    Sixteen Arab countries namely Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the Emirates, Egypt, Lebanon, Algeria, Jordan, Bahrain, Libya, Tunisia, Palestine, Iraq, Mauritania, Sudan and Oman, officially announced the establishment of air bridges and the provision of urgent relief and medical aid to support Turkey.

    At dawn on February 6, an earthquake of 7.7 degrees struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, followed hours later by another with a magnitude of 7.6 and dozens of aftershocks, leaving huge losses of lives and property in both countries.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

    The death toll from the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria has risen to more than 26,000, while the number of injured has reached more than 85,000, by Saturday evening.

    Kuwait: Kuwait ranked first among the Arab countries and second in the Middle East in terms of organ donation, according to the Kuwaiti Society for Organ Transplantation, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

    During a ceremony held to honor and register new donors on Thursday, the association’s head Mustafa Al-Moussawi said, “In 2022, Kuwait witnessed about 50 kidney transplants from 50 deceased and 49 similar operations from the living.”

    He stated that the total number of local donors remains small compared to the GCC, Middle Eastern, and Asian countries, explaining that the aforementioned campaign aims to increase the number of donation card holders from 17,000 donors currently to 30,000.

    He pointed out that organ transplants include the heart, lung, liver, pancreas, children’s intestines, cornea, and parts of the arteries. He added he hoped to reopen the liver transplant program after it was stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    The process of organ donation in Kuwait dates back to 1979 but it was limited to donation from the living, through relatives, and in 1996 a program began to donate brain deaths.
