The deceased minor was identified as Pradeep, who had accompanied his father to his workplace where the incident took place.

He took his son with him to work on Sunday and while he was strolling outside, a pack of stray dogs attacked him, sources said, adding that the CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced as well.

Some locals rushed to Pradeep’s rescue and rushed him to a hospital, sources informed further, adding, however, that he was declared dead by the doctors on arrival.

Medak custodial death: Are Bahujans lower than dogs? Telangana BSP asks KCR

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Telangana Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief RS Praveen Kumar on Sunday questioned state chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on the alleged custodial death of Mohammad Khadeer Khan and asked if Bahujans hold lesser value than dogs under his rule.

“KCR garu, you have filed a case against the doctors that your puppy-husky died, but your police are still chasing a poor Bahujan man Khadeer Khan to the point of kidney damage in Medak. Are our poor lives in Telangana worse than your dogs?? #Justice4KhadirKhan,” Praveen Kumar tweeted.

Praveen Kumar was referring to a case in September 2019, where Hyderabad police had charged a veterinary doctor with negligence in the death of Husky, a pet dog at Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of the chief minister. The Hulk breed, a cross between a pit bull terrier and a bulldog, belonged to the 11-month-old dog. Husky allegedly died on September 11 after the veterinarian gave him an injection.

The police registered a case and launched an investigation after receiving a complaint from Asif Ali Khan, who looks after the pet dogs at Pragati Bhavan. The complainant claimed that the dog died as a result of the doctor and the doctor in charge of the private veterinary clinic where the dog was rushed after his condition deteriorated following the injection.

The custodial death case of Muslim man in Medak

In his last video, Mohammad Khadeer, as a ‘dying declaration’, alleged that the Medak police thrashed him for 5 days and they tried to cover it up.

Mohammad Khadeer died at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad after the Medak police allegedly tortured him causing major injuries that led to his death.

Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar on Saturday directed the Inspector General of Police to supervise the probe of the alleged custodial torture-related death of the 35-year-old labourer who was picked up by Medak police, suspecting his role in a theft case.

In a statement while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Medak, he alleged that he was kept in custody for five days and beaten up by policemen though he kept telling them that he was innocent.

“The cops said the person involved looks like me,” he said.

The police let him off on February 2 when he was unable to move his hands. They (police) asked him to tell others that he was kept in custody for one night. They also asked him to sign a paper and as he was unable to even hold the pen, one of the policemen signed the paper.

Khadeer named the two constables and the Sub-Inspector (SI). He said while the SI only slapped him twice or thrice, the two constables beat him up all over the body.

Due to the alleged torture, Khadeer could not stand on his feet, and his kidneys were also damaged. His wife Siddeshwari, alleged that police used third-degree methods on him. On February 9, he was admitted to a hospital in Medak.

As Khadeer’s condition kept deteriorating, he was referred to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries on February 17 and is survived by his wife and two children.

The body was handed over to the family members early Saturday morning after autopsy and it was later taken to Medak for last rites.

Qadeer’s death triggered public outrage. Local Muslim community leaders urged Bharat Rastra Samiti (BRS) MLA M. Padma Devender Reddy to take action against the policemen involved.

Subsequently, the MLA spoke with the Medak Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohini Priyadarshini, demanding an investigation into the incident.

The SP transferred SI Rajshekar and the two constables, Pavan and Prashanth.

AIMIM MLA from Hyderabad, Kausar Mohiuddin visited Medak and attended the funeral on Saturday morning. He slammed the police for the restrictions imposed on the funeral and questioned if Qadeer was a “naxalite or terrorist”.

The MLA demanded that the three policemen involved in the case should be booked for murder. He said the FIR should be changed to include the names of the SI and the two constables.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President A Revanth Reddy on Sunday demanded the government provide exgratia of fifty lakh rupees to the kin of the deceased.

  • Telangana: 150 dogs allegedly killed by contract killer in Nalgonda

Telangana: 150 dogs allegedly killed by contract killer in Nalgonda

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: In a gruesome incident at Mannamidde village of Nalgonda district, 150 dogs were mercilessly killed on February 4. The dogs were reportedly killed by a man from Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to Siasat.com, Dr. Shashikala Kopanati, an animal activist from Hyderabad said, “We got information about 150 dogs getting killed on Sunday by a man who was hired from Andhra Pradesh. The contract killer brought injections and poisons to commit this horrific act in a whole day. The killer did not even spare the small puppies, who are suckling infants that could barely move. He killed them too because he was paid Rs 150 per dog.”

Kopanati said she filed the complaint as nobody in the village was cooperating to lodge their statement on this incident. “We have been sent back as the sub-inspector was on the bandobast for a Jatra nearby and there were no police. However, he said tomorrow morning will send a team of veterinary doctors who will conduct the post-mortem and after that they will file an FIR. To date, they haven’t conducted the postmortem because he claims that the sarpanch and the village secretary had nothing to do with this. Based on the claims made by the sarpanch and village secretary the SI is refusing to file a complaint,” she added.

The activist alleged that the Sarpanch and village secretary hired the contract killers from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

“After the news was published in the media, the SI was willing to talk,” she added.

This is the 5th visit I made to Nalgonda as an animal welfare activist over the past few months in relation to community dog culls.

Contract dog killers are being hired by both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh at ₹150 per dog. They commonly use injectable poisons such as propofol, which is a human anesthetic agent. I visited last night and lodged a complaint. The SI promised to make inquiries in the morning,”

Allahabad HC declines to order killing of birds, dogs

    [ad_1]

Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has declined to issue directions to Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) to kill birds and animals that have become nuisance in the state capital.

Dismissing the plea, the bench held: “Such a direction cannot be issued by the Court as there is no provision which obliges the LMC to kill innocent animals.”

The bench of Justices Ramesh Sinha and Subhash Vidyarthi passed the order on a PIL moved by a local lawyer Manoj Dubey.

Arguing for the petitioner, senior advocate Sudeep Seth had sought issuance of a direction for LMC to discharge the duty of eliminating birds, animals, strays and ownerless dogs causing nuisance in Lucknow.

The bench declined to issue any such direction.

Welcoming the verdict, animal rights activist Kamna Pandey said: “It is a landmark verdict. It is significant and cuts through the current motivated campaign against dogs seeking to create an atmosphere of hate and hostility towards man’s best friend. It restores balance and returns good sense to the prevailing debate.”

Benaras gets a ‘roti ATM’ to feed stray dogs and cows

    [ad_1]

Varanasi: Benaras has got a ‘roti ATM’, a first-of-its-kind initiative to feed speechless stray dogs and cows.

Grootguardian, the organization that Gaurav Rai set up along with his four friends for a noble purpose, now houses 40 youths.

Grootguardian President Gaurav Rai said that he got the inspiration for the work from his friend Siddharth Singh who passed away in a road accident.

Rai said that Singh was an animal lover and wherever he used to see hungry animals, he used to feed them biscuits and jaggery.

“We have started this ATM after his sudden demise. We feed the food collected in the ATM to stray dogs and cows,” Rai said.

The first ATM is installed in a society in Pandeypur in Banke Bihari, in which around 100-150 chappatis are being collected. The next ATM will be installed in Shivpur where 200 families reside.

“We are being supported by around 40 people including Prajwal, Harsh, Aman, Mrintujay, Vikas, Kavish, Sadas, Avinash, Shivani, Tulika , Akshara, Kritika, Himalaya, and Nihal,” he said.

Prajwal said that organization was founded in 2019 and during the Covid pandemic, they used to feed stray animals and distribute rations to the poor people.

“His team is continuously working for animal welfare, women and child education, and environmental conservation,” Prajwal said.

The surge layer keeps liquid flowing in the right direction, while the sponge-like core provides maximum absorption and turns liquid into gel upon contact.
