  • JK Government Increases DA For Employees Under Seventh Pay Commission

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday issued a new order regarding the payment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to its employees. According to the government order, all regular government employees under the 7th Pay Commission will now be eligible for an increased DA of 42% of their basic pay, effective from January 1, 2023. This revised rate is a 4% increase from the previous rate of 38% of the basic pay.

First, let’s understand what Dearness Allowance is. It is an allowance given by the government to its employees to offset the impact of inflation and rising prices of goods and services. Essentially, it’s a way to help employees keep up with the cost of living. The amount of DA varies from state to state and is calculated as a percentage of the employee’s basic pay.

So, what does this mean for the employees? Suppose an employee’s basic pay is Rs. 20,000. Under the old rate of 38%, they would receive a DA of Rs. 7,600 (38% of Rs. 20,000). But with the new rate of 42%, they will receive a DA of Rs. 8,400 (42% of Rs. 20,000). This extra money will help the employees cope with the increased expenses due to inflation and rising costs of living.

The order also specifies that the term ‘Basic Pay’ in the revised pay structure means the pay drawn in the prescribed level in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, excluding any other type of pay like special pay. This means that only the regular salary of the employees will be taken into consideration while calculating the DA.

Additionally, the order mentions that the arrears on account of the additional instalment of DA with effect from January 2023 shall be paid in cash in the month of May 2023 and shall form a part of salary from May 2023 onwards. This means that the employees will receive the extra money they were supposed to get from January 2023 in May 2023, along with their regular salary.

The order also states that the payment on account of Dearness Allowance involving fractions of 50 paisa and above may be rounded to the next higher rupee, while the fractions of less than 50 paisa shall be ignored. This means that if the extra money the employees are supposed to receive is more than 50 paisa, it will be rounded up to the nearest rupee, and if it’s less than 50 paisa, it will be ignored.

The order was issued by the General Administration Department under the file number GAD-CORD/113/2021-09-GAD, and the Government Order No: 93-F of 2023.

  • Bank Comes For Recovery, Debtor Commits Suicide

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: In a heartbreaking incident, a man named Balwinder Nath, son of Pyar Nath, from Tringla Batote in District Ramban, committed suicide on May 2nd, 2023, near his house. The reason behind this unfortunate event is alleged to be due to the pressure of an unpaid loan that he had taken from Jammu and Kashmir Bank Batote.

According to Balwinder Nath’s wife, Vidya Devi, the couple had taken a loan of Rs. 57,000 for cows, but due to her husband’s illness, they were unable to pay the instalments on time. She further added that the manager of Jammu and Kashmir Bank came to their house and demanded the payment of the instalment immediately. This resulted in Balwinder Nath feeling insulted in front of everyone, which may have led him to take such a drastic step.

Balwindar Nath’s father also expressed his grief and stated that if the instalment was not paid, then the bank should have sent a notice instead of coming personally and insulting them in front of their neighbours.

According to a police official, the case is currently under further investigation.

  • Major JeM Plot Foiled, Militant Associate Arrested

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Police in Kashmir have thwarted a major militant attack plot by arresting a militant associate of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) who was working as a driver in a five-star hotel.

Farooq Ahmad Wani, son of Abdul Rashid Wani, was arrested from the hotel where he worked in Baramulla district last week. During the interrogation, police discovered that Wani was in contact with his handlers in Pakistan and had sent pictures and other details of some of the 5-star hotels in Kashmir where high-profile guests, including Union Ministers, top leaders, and senior officials stay.

The arrest comes ahead of the G20 group meeting in Srinagar from May 22 to May 24. The security has been tightened around the hotels in Srinagar and other places as there is a serious input about a possible militant strike in Kashmir. The police recovered a grenade from Wani’s possession, and he is being questioned, providing leads to the authorities.

The security review meeting in Srinagar was conducted by the Additional Director General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, focusing on the emerging threat of Vehicle-Based Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs) and other potential modes of militant attacks, including Fidayeen.

The presence of a militant in a 5-star hotel and the audacious attack in Poonch last month on Army has led to elite Marine Commandos (MARCOS) and National Security Guards (NGS) being placed for the security of the G20 Group meeting in Srinagar. The official clarified that the hotel management had no knowledge of Wani’s militant links, and he had developed links several months after working in the hotel.
