Hyderabad: ‘RRR’ star Jr NTR, who has become a global sensation in the last few months, hosted a dinner party for James Farrell (Vice President International, Amazon Studios) and few dignitaries from the film industry at his house on Wednesday.
Taking to Instagram, Jr NTR posted a few snaps from the evening, in which S S Rajamouli also joined him. In the first black-and-white snap, Jr NTR can be seen sharing a good laugh with Farrell. In another frame, NTR posed with Rajamouli for the shutterbugs.
“An evening well spent with friends and well-wishers. Was great catching up with James and Emily. Thanks for keeping your word and joining us for dinner,” NTR wrote in the caption.

Jr NTR is in the headlines as he has bagged a role in the sequel of ‘War’. As per a source, the shooting for the film is expected to start in November 2023.
“Get set for the biggest theatrical experience when Hrithik Roshan takes on NTR Jr. in War 2. The film is being mounted on a scale that has never been attempted before in India. Aditya Chopra and Ayan are clear that they want to make it a spectacle and a global cinematic moment for India. Pre-production is in full swing for this action extravaganza that starts its shooting schedule in November,” the source said.
“War 2 is a huge pan India movie right now, after casting coup by Aditya Chopra to get NTR Jr. in this film. The YRF Spy Universe is expanding at a rate that is unimaginable and all the films of this universe are now the biggest event films for audiences to enjoy in theatres,” the source added.
Directed by Siddarth Anand, ‘War’ featured Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in lead roles. This high-octane action drama is touted to be one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of that year. However, the makers have not made any official statement regarding ‘War 2’.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will host the annual Iftar dinner for the Muslim community at LB Stadium on April 12. He directed his secretary Bhupal Reddy to make the necessary arrangements.
The annual dinner is set to be organised by the state government on a grand scale. Muslim clerics, MLAs, government officials, and general public are expected to join the Iftar party.
Meanwhile, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders slammed the prime minister Narendra Modi for his ‘parivarvaad’ (dynastic politics) remarks.

Prime minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed ‘pain’ at the alleged non-cooperation of the ruling dispensation towards central initiatives aimed at the southern state.
“Handful of people who encourage ‘parivarvaad’ are trying to see where they can reap benefits from projects being implemented for the people of Telangana,” PM Modi said.
Reacting to Modi’s statements about the state’s non-cooperation with Central projects, state finance minister Harish Rao said “Every word is far from the truth. Playing so many lies as the Prime Minister is worth it to him.”
“It is ridiculous for Modi to say that the state government is not cooperating with the Centre. Actually, the situation is reversed. Centre is not giving any support to Telangana by not sanctioning a tribal university, railway coach factory, Bayyaram steel industry, medical colleges, and nursing colleges,” Harish Rao said.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday hosted a dinner for Padma awardees who received the honour from President Droupadi Murmu here.
“Had the pleasure of hosting a dinner for the esteemed Padma Awardees of 2023. It was a great experience to converse with these amazing individuals who are filled with so much enthusiasm for their chosen fields of work. #PeoplesPadma,” Shah tweeted.
The President had approved the conferment of 106 Padma awards, including three duo cases (in a duo case, the award is counted as one), on the eve of this year’s Republic Day.
Of these, over 54 people were awarded — Padma Vibhushan (3), Padma Bhushan (4) and Padma Shri (47) — on Wednesday. Rest of the awardees would be conferred the honour in another ceremony later.
Former Karnataka chief minister S M Krishna, noted industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla and famous playback singer Suman Kalyanpur were among the awardees who were honoured by the President.
Among the awardees were many unsung heroes. The Modi government has been honouring unsung heroes of the country with Padma awards ever since it came to power in 2014.

There were a few seconds, immediately after the blade sliced deep into the tip of my left index finger and shortly before the blood began to gush, when I merely watched. There always seems to be a moment like this following an injury in the kitchen; a stillness, before the crisis management kicks in, when we are lost in bafflement at our clumsiness or stupidity or just plain bad luck.
In this case, it was a mixture of all three. My knife skills do not deserve the name. I am a home cook, not a trained chef, and I haven’t quite mastered the business of folding my finger tips under while resting my knuckles against the blade. I was shredding spring onions. I was distracted. Now I was injured.
The wound took a month to heal. Now I have a crescent-shaped scar at the tip. It gets to join all the other scars. There is the long, slug-shaped pale mark on my right wrist where it fried against the top edge of a very hot oven as I reached in with a spatula.
We assume these things fade with time, but I’m now made of older skin and bone; that one will be with me for life. There are the polka dots of multiple small burns on the ball of my left hand, caused by reaching in to get the oven tray. Now there is this new one.
Anyone who cooks regularly has these marks. I am not proud of them. I would be very happy if none of these minor accidents had occurred; if I were unscarred. No one should make light of potential disfigurement.
Happily, though, they are minor enough that I can now be curiously fond of them. They are my life in the kitchen, written on the body, the physical marks of someone who has diced vegetables and chopped onions, fretted over stock pots and poked at roasts, tasted sauces, deep fried and charred and blitzed.
The fact is that cookery is not risk free. It involves fire and knives. While the possibility of injury may decrease with experience, the likelihood of it happening increases because of repetition.
Behold the professionals. My friend Jeremy Lee, revered chef at Quo Vadis, has been cooking all day, almost every working day, for more than 30 years. “The marks really come out in the sun,” he says. “My forearms make me look like a zebra. And you look at them and go, ah, there you are.”
The great Manchester chef Mary-Ellen McTague says her attitude to minor injuries has changed over the years. “Once, they were a badge of honour,” she says. “If your finger was hanging off and you were still cooking, it was weirdly heroic. Now, I’d rather just be safe. But I do feel an affection for my scars.”
Clearly accidents happen. Such is life. There is, however, one risk in the kitchen that every cook I’ve ever discussed it with winces at the thought of: the mandolin. “Watching someone slicing on a mandolin makes me very nervous,” McTague says. “I don’t know a cook who hasn’t lost a fingertip to one of those.”
Lee understands why it happens. “Maybe you can’t find the guard,” he says. “So you go for it. And then we kick ourselves for just being silly sods and too gung ho.”
That’s how it works. We plan to make something nice to eat. Then the hand slips. The blade does its worst. And we know, for certain, that the mark of our highly developed appetites will be with us for a long time to come.

Roy Wood Jr., the stand-up comedian known for his work on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” will be the featured entertainer at the 2023 annual White House Correspondents’ dinner, the Correspondents’ Association announced on Thursday.
“It will be a great night that will go down in the history books, or not, depending on which state you live in,” Wood said in the announcement.
The dinner, set for April 29, is typically attended by numerous Washington VIPs, including the president and first lady. The annual event, attended for decades by presidents from both parties, became a political flash point during the Trump administration when then-President Donald Trump refused to attend the event amid his frequent tirades against the Washington press corps. The dinner was canceled amid the Covid pandemic in 2020 and 2021 but returned last year with President Joe Biden in attendance.
