Didn’t have family support: Mrunal Thakur on career struggles

Hyderabad: Mrunal Thakur, the talented actress who rose to fame in the hit TV show Kumkum Bhagya as Bulbul, has come a long way in her career. However, the road was not easy for her, as she had to overcome her family’s initial reservations about working in the entertainment industry. Because initially I didn’t have their support since they were scared of what was going to happen, they had reservations about the entertainment industry, whether I’ll get good roles or not. But to begin with, when I started my career with television, I felt a sense of familiarity and belongingness. And then I made my debut in Marathi cinema.”
Mrunal’s family was skeptical of the entertainment industry at first, but after meeting the cast and crew of her films, they were proud of her She continued, “Since I am a Maharashtrian and when my family met up with the crew and the team, when they got to know about the subjects of the film, they felt very proud. And then Love Sonia happened. Prior to the release of the film when it was doing the rounds of the film festival circuits, the kind of comments that were pouring in said, ‘Mrunal, you’re the next Smita Patil. And for me Smita Patil is a Goddess. “

She further added “I worship her and I’ve carefully studied all her films. So this is a very big compliment especially for a Marathi girl. Now my family says that, ‘Mrunal, we are proud of you. There is no looking back. Just keep one thing in mind that whatever film you choose to become part of, make sure that the audience learns something out of it. It should start a conversation once the end credits roll’. It’s my small effort as an actor to make this society a better place to live in.”
Mrunal’s family is now proud of her, and they encourage her to choose films that teach the audience something and spark a discussion after the credits roll. As an actor, Mrunal considers it her responsibility to make society a better place to live.
Mrunal is set to appear in Vardhan Ketkar’s murder mystery Gumraah, alongside Aditya Roy Kapur, Ronit Roy, Vedika Pinto, Deepak Kalra, and Mohit Anand. The film is set to be released on April 7th and is expected to provide audiences with an exciting experience.

4 deleted scenes of Pathaan that didn’t make it to theatre

Mumbai: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan has managed to drag audiences to the cinemas and the film broke several records at the box office. People were stranded in queues to watch the movie in theatres during the first two weeks. The film is still running in various theatres across India since January and it finally got released on the OTT platform today on the 22nd of March.
Earlier, the director of the film Siddharth Anand had hinted during an interview that the OTT release of the movie will include the deleted scenes which were not shown in theatres. After Siddharth’s revelations, fans were excited to watch the deleted scenes on Prime Video.
Just after watching the movie on the OTT platform today, netizens shared their experiences via tweets and Instagram posts. Fans wondered why various scenes were removed from the movie and said that they wanted to watch all those deleted scenes on the big screen.
Some of deleted scenes from Pathaan have caused quite a stir among fans after its OTT release. One of the deleted scenes shows the protagonist, Pathaan, being subjected to brutal torture by Russians, while another quick scene shows his triumphant return to the RAW office after being rescued by Salman Khan’s character Tiger. The third scene features Deepika Padukone’s character being interrogated by Indian forces.
In addition to the deleted scenes, there are also a few dialogues that didn’t make it to the theatre release. One such dialogues of Shah Rukh Khan is, “Teri Hindi bohot achhi hai..Teri Maa Hindustan aayi thi Kya?”
Pathaan has become the biggest Hindi hit of all time as it collected more than Rs 1000 crore. The movie stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the lead role.

Hyderabad: As the whole nation is brimming with pride after RRR bagged an Oscar award, the team members of the film are now making headlines for the wrong reasons. Recently, Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez’s make-up artist Shaan Muttathil claimed that the RRR team bought the Oscar award with money. In the latest development, it is rumoured that producer DVV Danayya was ignored and the RRR team used the banner name Variance (American Company) instead during the Oscar event.
It is rumoured that SS Rajamouli proposed Danayya, Ram Charan and NTR share Rs 25 crore each for the Oscar promotions. RRR’s director hoped to receive at least one award or nomination among the Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor categories. It is said that Rajamouli suggested to the trio that all of them should put in their efforts collectively so that RRR may bag any award.
Rumours mills claim that producer Danayya refused Rajamouli’s proposal by stating that he did not make any significant profit with RRR which is why he could not spend a hefty amount to bring any award. The movie’s lead actors Ram Charan and NTR however agreed with Rajamouli and invested the money.
The director succeeded and the movie won the prestigious award but the question is raised why was Danayya ignored in such a way that the banner name of an American company was used at Oscars? It is also rumoured that Variance did all the liaisoning for RRR Oscar promotions due to which Danayya was ignored.
The film received only a single nomination under “Best Original Song”, but what Jr NTR and Ram Charan got from it” Jr NTR got fame but overall his money was wasted while investing money in bringing Oscar helped Ram Charan as he is all set to make his Hollywood debut.
Now, reports are circulating that it was the money of Rajamouli, Ram Charan, and NTR that brought the awards to Keeravani and Chandrabose. However, DVV Danayya slammed all those who blame Rajamouli for sidelining him. In an interview recently, he said that he is grateful to the RRR director SS Rajamouli for providing him a chance to produce such a magnum opus. He proudly said that history would remember that RRR was produced by him.

How can court reinstate CM who didn’t face floor test and resigned: SC to Uddhav

New Delhi: The Supreme Court, after hearing submissions for nine days, on Thursday reserved its judgment on a batch of cross-petitions of Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde groups in connection with the Maharashtra political crisis.
A five-judge constitution bench, headed by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and comprising Justices M.R. Shah, Krishna Murari, Hima Kohli and P.S. Narasimha, before reserving the verdict, shot a volley of questions at senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing the Thackeray group.
The Chief Justice asked Singhvi: “So, really the question is whether there was a valid exercise of power by the Governor to call for a trust vote? And what happens, if we come to a conclusion that there was no valid exercise of power by the Governor to call for a trust vote?”
Singhvi said everything falls. However, the bench that everything falls on would be simple but Singhvi stressed that is the core question and urged the court to allow him to present his case.
The Chief Justice further queried, “Then, according to you what, we reinstate the Uddhav Thackeray government? But you resigned.”
As Singhvi said Thackeray’s resignation and not facing the trust vote is irrelevant, the Chief Justice observed: “That is, the court being told to reinstate a government (which has resigned).”
To this, Singhvi said that it is a plausible way of looking at it but it is irrelevant, and asked the bench to give him an opportunity to explain his contention.
At this juncture, Justice Shah said: “How can the court reinstate a Chief Minister who did not even face floor test?” Singhvi said the court is not reinstating anyone but it is restoring the status quo ante.

The Chief Justice further queried Singhvi: “But, it would have been a logical thing to do provided you had lost the trust vote on the floor of the Assembly. Clearly, then you would have been ousted from power due to a trust vote, which is set aside… look at the intellectual conundrum that it is not that you have been ousted from power as a result of a trust vote which was wrongly summoned by the Governor. You chose not to, whatever reason you did not face the trust vote.”
The bench further said: “So you’re saying that Mr Uddhav Thackeray resigned only because he was called upon by the Governor to face a trust vote?”
Singhvi submitted, “I’m grateful. After I filed the petition, after I made it sub judice, and after I said it’s completely unknown to law and don’t allow it to go on.”
The Chief Justice then asked Singhvi: “You’re frankly accepting the fact that you resigned because the trust vote was going to go against you.” Singhvi replied that is an illegal act and consequences of it are known to his client.
The apex court heard arguments advanced on behalf of both Thackeray and Shinde groups and the office of the Governor and concluded the hearing after senior advocates Kapil Sibal, Singhvi, Devadatt Kamat and advocate Amit Anand Tiwari made their submissions.
The Shinde group was represented by senior advocates Neeraj Kishan Kaul, Harish Salve, Mahesh Jethmalani and advocate Abhikalp Pratap Singh. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta represented the office of the Governor in the matter. The hearing in the matter commenced on February 21.
On June 29, 2022, the apex court refused to stay the Governor’s direction to the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Thackeray to take floor test, who resigned sensing defeat. It paved the way for the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance led by Shinde to come to power in Maharashtra.

Forced to arrest Sisodia as he was evasive, didn’t co-operate: CBI

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday said that they arrested Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia for alleged irregularities in framing and implementation of the excise policy as he gave “evasive replies” and “did not co-operate in the investigation”.
It said that the present case was registered against the Deputy Chief Minister & In charge Excise Minister, and 14 others for investigation into the matter of alleged irregularities in framing and implementation of Excise Policy for 2021-22 and extending post tender benefits to private persons.
A charge sheet was filed on December 25, 2022 against then CEO of a Mumbai-based private company and six others. Sisodia was issued a notice under Section 41A of the Cr.P.C for attending the investigation on February 19.
“However, Sisodia sought time of one week citing his pre-occupation. Accepting his request, he was issued a second notice under Section 41A Cr.P.C for attending the investigation on February 26. He was called to answer various questions which he evaded during his examination on October 17, 2022 and further questions relating to his incriminating role based on evidence collected during investigation of the case,” said the CBI.
However, it claimed that Sisodia “gave evasive replies and did not co-operate the investigation despite being confronted with evidence to the contrary” and was therefore, placed under arrest.
Sisodia will be produced before Rouse Avenue District Courts on Monday.

Owaisi claims Uddhav, Pawar didn’t support Muslims in their time of need

Thane: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaddudin Owaisi has asked the Muslim youth to become a strong force in the country to fight for their rights and targeted leaders like Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar, claiming they did not support the community members in their time of need.
Owaisi was addressing a rally in Mumbra area of Maharashtra’s Thane district on Saturday during his party’s national convention.
“If Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis can become leaders, why can’t you?” he asked the Muslim community youth.
The AIMIM was formed 65 years back and just a handful of people used to attend its meetings, but the number has now gone up to thousands, he said.
“We also have the presence in Parliament, state Assemblies and local bodies and this growth should continue unabated and the youth should try to get into the administration as well through election,” he said.
He asked the youth to come forward, make the AIMIM strong and fight for the rights of Muslims and Dalits.
Owaisi targeted Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackerary and sought to know why he kept silent when “our community members faced harassment”.
He further said Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar wants to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and wants support from the AIMIM.

“But he forgets that when it comes to supporting Muslims at the time of their crisis, he never bothered to come forward and left us to our fate. What kind of secularism is this?” he asked.
He also hit out at the Congress, saying its leaders had time for the Bharat Jodo Yatra and other activities, but did not turn up to console the families of those killed in mob lynching and other incidents.
Owaisi said his party will put up “sher” (strong) candidates against those who claim to be holding on to their bastions.
“You cannot purchase everyone with money power, we still have some people who are loyal to us and with them we will defeat you,” he said without naming anyone.
The AIMIM leader said he cannot be bought with money power.

Twitter shuts off internal Slack, employees say didn’t pay bills

San Francisco: Twitter has apparently shut off its internal communication system Slack and employees posted on anonymous workplace chat app Blind that the company had stopped paying its Slack bills.
The move left employees baffled and no one worked throughout the day on Friday as they were suddenly unable to communicate, reports Platformer.
Employees also lost access to Jira, a tracking software that allows engineers to ship code and monitor progress on new features.
While some employees communicated over email, some decided to just take the day off and others took two days off.
Jira access was later restored but Slack wasn’t down for “routine maintenance.”
“There is no such thing as routine maintenance,” a Slack employee was quoted as saying.
A Slack spokesperson confirmed that the company did not deactivate Twitter’s workspace or user accounts. Slack rarely shuts down services for maintenance.
“We didn’t pay our Slack bill. Now everyone is barely working. Penny wise, pound foolish,” wrote a Twitter employee.

Another called the disappearance of Slack the “proverbial final straw.”
Twitter did not immediately comment on the report.
Meanwhile, the platform was down for several users for a couple of minutes on Friday, and nearly 55 per cent of users reported problems accessing the platform from mobile.
The outage was brief and the services were restored after some time.

Srinagar, Feb 15: Peoples Democratic Party president and former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti said that during the coalition government of PDP and BJP, she didn’t allow BJP agenda to prevail in Jammu and Kashmir and that she doesn’t take statements of Home Minister Amit Shah seriously as those are “Jumlas” only.
Addressing a news conference, Mehbooba, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) appealed to the people to take control of their land as it belongs to them and in absence of the government, people including Mohalla Committees, Panchayats and others should take control of their land in respective areas.
“People were earlier being called anti-national and now they are being called encroachers,” she said while replying to a query.
She added people are being suppressed by one way or the other, however, sentiments of people about Kashmir resolution cannot be jailed like the way people, especially youth have been jailed and shifted to outside.
“Those who have been jailed are being given bread and salt as food,” she said.
Reacting to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s interview yesterday, she said there are no facts in his statement, as he has himself admitted earlier that statements are just ‘Jumlas’.
“J&K State has been downgraded to Union Territory, the economy is at stake, but to divert the attention from main issues, J&K has become a focal point for them for this purpose,” she said.
On being asked about “Naya Kashmir” statement, she said employed people are being unemployed by throwing them out of departments, people including journalists are being jailed and houses are being demolished, which is Naya Kashmir.

On G-20 summit, she said that the summit at a time of raiding BBC offices and demolishing houses will have serious consequences for country’s reputation.
Mehbooba added that it is a tactic to demolish the houses of people to force them to join a particular party and get money from the rich people and nothing beyond that.
On PDP’s coalition with BJP, she said her father had taken a wise decision. “During the coalition government, we didn’t allow their agenda to prevail. We didn’t allow them to carry out any anti-people activity. People can criticize me for my steps, I am not BJP, but till the government was there, we didn’t allow their agenda to prevail,” she said—(KNO)
