Hyderabad: 25 children rescued, 10 traffickers detained by RPF

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Cracking down against human traffickers at railway stations, Secundrabad’s Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued 25 children who were being trafficked from West Bengal and Odisha and detained 10 traffickers.

The children who were in the age group of 12 to 17 years were meant to be employed in small-scale industries in the city.

As part of Operation Action Against Human Trafficking (AAHT), RPF-Secunderabad personnel in collaboration with an NGO, Bachpan Bachao Andolan rescued the children who were traveling by the East Coast Express.

“The RPF escorted the train and conducted searches between Vijayawada and Warangal stations and rescued the children,” said Debashmita C. Banerjee, senior divisional security commissioner, Secunderabad.

Rescued children, who belonged to different states, have been provided shelter in a children’s home in Hanamkonda while the BBA team will follow up with the CWC and DCPU Warangal for further rehabilitation of the rescued children.

This operation is part of the drive by the BBA and the RPF to make the nation child trafficking free.

In May 2022, the BBA and the RPF signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a common goal.

Both RPF and BBA pledged to work together to share information, build the capacity of RPF personnel and railway employees to work against human trafficking, increase sensitization and create awareness and also help each other in the identification and detection of such cases.

Considering how often the traffickers use the well-networked Indian Railways as the cheapest, fastest, and most reliable carrier to traffic thousands of vulnerable women and children every year, this drive has been fetching great results.

Talking about the dark world of child trafficking and child labor that continues to mar society and the various issues that crop up while dealing with child traffickers, the director of Bachpan Bachao Andolan, Manish Sharma said, “In spite of having very strong laws to protect children from all kinds of exploitation and child labor, people continue to employ underage children in commercial activities and exploit them.”

“These are serious crimes and the Union government must enact the Anti-Trafficking Bill at the earliest to curb the problem,” he added.

Hyderabad: Bajrang dal, BJP activists recite Hanuman Chalisa at Cong office; detained

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) activists who were a part of Bajrang Dal gathered outside the Congress party office in the city on Friday and recited Hanuman Chalisa following which they were detained by the cops.

The crowd were protesting against the Congress’s manifesto mentioning the ban on Bajrang Dal, while they cried out the description, calling themselves devotees of lord Ram and Hanuman.

Shouting out loud, the activists lay on the road while police tried to stop them. The cops faced a tough time as they had to drag the activists into a DCM truck as they refused to move from their place.

Additionally, lady constables also interfered to move the female activists who were among the protestors while their companions cried out, ‘Ram ki jai’.

    Congress members respond

Countering the BJP members and the Bajrang dal, the Telangana Congress Women wing members on Friday said that even they are devotees of lord Ram, asserting that Hanuman Chalisa can be recited by anyone and it doesn’t have to do anything with a particular party.

Stating that there is no significance in linking the Hanuman Chalisa, (one of the popular Hindu devotional hymns dedicated to Lord Hanuman) with the ban, one of the members of the Telangana Congress women’s wing read out the entire Chalisa while her fellow mates accompanied her.

Bajrang Dal announced a nationwide protest

The Karnataka Congress unit in its manifesto stated that it would ban the Bajrang Dal and compared the group to the PFI. The PFI was recently banned by the Union government for its alleged anti-national activities.

The Bajrang Dal announced a nationwide protest and protests are held across the country for the past couple of days.

On Wednesday, the Telangana Bajrang Dal activists held protests in all districts and the city. The Bajrang Dal workers stormed the Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday.

The police took over 300 of the activists into custody and shifted them to various police stations. All of them were let off later.

Following the developments, the police pickets continued at the Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday as well.

  • Man Who Sheltered Militants In Poonch Attack Detained

Man Who Sheltered Militants In Poonch Attack Detained

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: As a first substantial breakthrough in the Poonch ambush probe, security forces zeroed in on a man who allegedly provided “shelter” and “support” to militants for at least two months before executing the April 20 attack, which claimed the lives of five soldiers.

Meanwhile, the search operation to track down the militants entered its sixth day.

Sources said that, following leads and cross-checking the statements of 50 detainees in the case, forces zeroed in on one Nasir, a local, for his involvement in sheltering and supporting the militants for more than two months before executing the ambush in Tota Gali, Bhata Dhurian in Bhimbir Gali Secto, Mendhar Poonch.

Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi visited the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch and took stock of the ongoing operation, the officials said, adding he asked the troops to be relentless in their pursuit. This was the Army commander’s second visit to the region in less than a week.

Five Army personnel were killed, and another was seriously injured after their vehicle was attacked by militants in Poonch last Thursday.

A massive search and cordon operation was launched after the attack and has now spread to 12 areas across the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri.

Sources claimed that after sustained questioning and cross-checking the statements, a local, Nasir, confessed his involvement and told investigators that he sheltered the militants at his house for more than two months and “provided them logistic and material support.”

“Some of the detainees were let off after questioning,” they said.

Special Forces are also engaged in the search operation, the sources said, adding that the agencies are backed by drones, sniffer dogs, and metal detectors.

A large spread of forest areas, deep gorges, natural caves, and dense growths have been searched, and the operation now covers other places, they said.

Meanwhile, a balloon from across the border was noticed in the Jhalas area of Poonch, they said.

Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi took stock of the search operation, which entered its sixth day on Wednesday.

“He interacted with the troops deployed in remote areas and exhorted them to be innovative and relentless in their pursuit,” the Northern Command tweeted.

This was the second visit of the army commander to the border districts within five days. Earlier on April 22, Lt Gen Dwivedi had visited the attack site at Bhata Dhurian, a notorious infiltration route for militants from across the Line of Control because of its topography, dense forest cover, and natural caves. Sources had earlier said that seven to eight militants spread in two groups are believed to have engineered the attack.

According to initial investigations, the militants reportedly hid themselves in a culvert on the road from where they launched the attack on the truck, which was carrying fruits, vegetables, and other items to Sangiote village from the Bhimber Gali camp for Iftar to be organized by the Rashtriya Rifles.

Over 50 bullet marks were spotted on the vehicle that shows the intensity of the firing by militants, the sources said.

The troops involved in the operation are exercising utmost caution as the militants may have planted improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the densely forested area with deep gorges and caves, they added.

The slain soldiers were from a Rashtriya Rifles unit deployed for counter-terror operations.

Experts from various agencies, including the National Security Guard (NSG) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), have visited the site of the attack, the officials said.

    [ad_1]

Kaliaganj: A total of 11 people have been detained for their alleged involvement in violence at Kaliaganj in Uttar Dinajpur district over the death of a teenage girl, even as roads in the town wore a deserted look on Monday amid heavy deployment of security forces, police said.

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC continued in some parts of Kaliaganj, a senior police officer said.

Raids were conducted in and around Kaliaganj throughout Tuesday and 11 people were detained in connection with incidents of arson, he said.

    MS Education Academy

Violating the prohibitory orders, miscreants on Tuesday set fire to Kaliaganj police station and torched several vehicles parked near it, as a mark of protest, claiming that the 17-year-old girl had been raped and murdered.

Her body was found in a canal here last week.

The preliminary post-mortem examination report, however, indicated she had not been raped.

“There is heavy deployment of security forces to keep a check on law and order. At the moment, the situation is under control,” the officer told PTI over phone.

The prohibitory orders were clamped in parts of Kaliaganj on April 23, ahead of the visit of a National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) team.

Meanwhile, state secretariat sources said Governor C V Ananda Bose on Wednesday morning spoke to Chief Secretary H K Dwivedi and Home Secretary B P Gopalika and sought a report on Tuesday’s incident.

Hyderabad: ‘Manhandled’, YS Sharmila ‘slaps’ woman constable; detained

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: YSR Telangana Party chief YS Sharmila was prevented from leaving her house, by the city police on Monday, to submit a representation to the Special Investigation Team officials investigating the TSPSC paper leak.

As she attempted to leave her home, police officials restricted her. However, Sharmila charged towards her vehicle but was prevented from entering it.

Tension erupted at Lotus Pond as she sat on the road in front of her house.

    MS Education Academy

Sharmila picked up a heated argument with the cops as she was allegedly being ‘manhandled’ and ‘restricted’ by women constables.

Enraged, Sharmila was seen manhandling a policeman and pushing him after he stopped her from entering her car. She also allegedly ‘slaps’ a lady constable as she tries to grab her hand.

She was then taken away by the police in their vehicle.

Sahrmila’s hunger strike was scheduled on April 17 under the umbrella of ‘Telangana Students’ Action for Vacancies and Employment’ (T-SAVE), a platform mooted by YSRTP President Y.S. Sharmila but the police had denied permission for the same.

Earlier, Sharmila had filed a petition in the High Court, seeking direction from the police to allow her protest against unemployment.

The High Court, however, directed that not more than 500 people should participate in the hunger strike.

After the police denied the permission, the YSRTP lashed out at chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for it calls his atrocious reign and dictatorial treatment of those who raised voices against his failures and fake promises.
