SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to provisionally promote 10 standard students to next class in a bid to avoid academic loss. This follows the conclusion of the Class X exam on Wednesday. More than 63500 students appeared for the matriculation exam in soft zones of Kashmir. This was for the first time that the board exam was held in March. In August last year, the government shifted the academic session to March in sync with National Education Policy (NEP).

Principal Secretary, Education, Alok Kumar told The Kashmir Monitor that they always provide provisional admission to the students. “It is not a new thing. We do provide provisional admission to the students. This time too it will be done. Till results are out, the students will be promoted to the next class,” he said.

As per the ‘Uniform Academic calendar, the students who appear in Class 10 and 11 examinations shall be provisionally admitted in Class 11th and 12th respectively after the conclusion of the Board examination.

According to a government order, students, who are declared unsuccessful shall be permitted to continue their studies in Class 11th and 12th till the result of the Biannual/Annual Private examinations is declared. “In respect of the candidates who fail to pass in Bi-annual examination, provisional admission shall be canceled,” the order said.

This year, 630 exam centers were set up for Class X students across the Kashmir division. Nearly 63543 students had enrolled for the exam in the soft zones of the valley.

Officials said the March session has helped to overcome many academic hiccups for the students. “Earlier students who had to seek admission elsewhere had to face migration issues. This time students can seek admission anywhere. There will be no problem whatsoever,” said an officer.

The government is now planning to hold exam for hard zones. Hard zones are those areas which are snowbound and not reachable. Since access to the area is difficult during March, the government decided to hold their exam separately. These students too will be given provisional admission and promoted to the next class. “They will also be promoted provisionally,” said an officer

Baghi Mehtab Prostitution Racket Fallout: District Admin Srinagar Orders Property Owners/Landlords to Furnish of Tenant Details

    [ad_1]

Srinagar, Apr 5: Coming close on the heels of busting of a rough trade in Bagh-e-Mehtab locality, District Magistrate Srinagar on Wednesday ordered the property owners/landlords to furnish details of tenants putting up in the properties anywhere in the district, within a period of ten days.

Citing a letter by Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar the District Magistrate said that the recent incident in Bagh-e-Mehtab has necessitated conducting the verification of the tenants as the district has a good number of people from other places putting up all across.

“Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, vide his letter No. 01-23/12741-42 dated: 03-4-2023 and No. CS/01-23/12910-12, dated: 04-04.2023 has reported that Srinagar being a capital city, a good number of people from other places are putting up in the District Srinagar in the rented accommodation. Investigation in multiple incidents of social crime including theft/burglary has revealed that the persons involved in such activities have been staying as tenants in Srinagar city which poses a danger to the ordinary Citizens. On April, 3rd, 2023 an incident of immoral trafficking came to the fore in the Bagh-i-Mehtab area of Srinagar city falling within the jurisdiction P/S Channapora. During the preliminary investigations it has been divulged that accused persons hail from outside of District Srinagar and had hired a private house in the said area. Further, the house-owner, where the illicit racket was busted, had not conducted tenant verification and whereas, the surfacing of the racket has evoked outrage among the public circles having a tendency to become a law and order issue thus necessitating putting in place measures for stopping such illicit / immoral activities”, reads the content of the order, a copy of which lies with GNS.

“Whereas time and again it has also been brought to the notice of undersigned that few incidents of acid attack/eve teasing have occurred in the recent past in the District which are in turn damaging the social fabric of society thus calling for putting the deterrence measures in place. SSP, Srinagar vide above mentioned communication/s has requested that there is an imminent need to conduct verification of tenants staying in rented accommodations in various parts of the city as there have been instances of social crimes and illicit activities”, it reads.

“Whereas, SSP, Srinagar vide above mentioned communication/s has requested that there is an imminent need to conduct verification of tenants staying in rented accommodations in various parts of the city as there have been instances of social crimes and illicit activities. It is necessary that some steps are taken to make the landlords, property owners accountable before renting out or making available their premises to tenants, so that such criminals / anti-social /anti-national elements in the guise of tenants do not succeed in the Commission of crime in the Community.”

“Whereas, I consider the threat being posed by such anti-social elements as an imminent apprehended danger to public safety and security that warrants immediate preventive measures”, the order reads.

“Now, therefore, for the reasons stated in the preceding paras, and in exercise of powers vested in me under various Sections of Cr.P.C, I, District Magistrate, Srinagar do hereby order and require all landlords, owners of properties, attorney holders, persons in-charge of premises in any capacity (hereafter called as building owners) located in the entire jurisdiction of District Srinagar to comply strictly with the following directions: a) All Building Owners shall after the issuance of this order and within ten days of letting/ sub-letting / renting out his/her house or part thereof to any tenant(s), submit without fail the detailed particulars of the tenant(s) to be signed by both the owner and the tenant(s) to the concerned Police Station, either in person or by registered post addressed to the concerned Station House Officer; b) The Building Owners who have already let/sub-let/rented out their house(s) or part(s) thereof to any tenant on any date prior to issuance of this order, shall within ten days after the issuance of this order submit without fail the detailed particulars of the tenants to the concerned police station; c) All arrangements of letting or sub-letting the property like “paying Guest” tenants etc, shall be covered by this order; d) Every SHO in Srinagar District shall maintain a separate register for such purpose.”

“This order shall come into force with immediate effect and it shall remain in force for a period of 60 days, unless withdrawn earlier. Any violation of this order shall invite punitive action under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code, 1860 and other relevant sections of the Cr.P.C”, reads the order adding the Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar will implement this order. Govt To Implement ‘Cashless Hajj’ Scheme For 1.4 Lakh Hajj pilgrims This Year- Details Here – Kashmir News

    [ad_1]

The government has decided to lay emphasis on ‘Cashless Hajj’ this year. In pursuant to this policy, the Haj pilgrims will be provided with a card by the State Bank of India (SBI) for the use of foreign currency. Highly placed sources in the Ministry of Minority Affairs gave this information on Monday.

Under the earlier system, Haj pilgrims had to deposit 2,100 Saudi Riyals (about Rs 45 thousand) with the Haj Committee of India, which used to be made available to them for spending in Mecca and Medina of Saudi Arabia.

The process of applying for Haj and selection of pilgrims was carried out online and of the 1.84 lakh applicants, 14,935 have been given assured allotment, including 10,621 in the 70-plus category and 4,314 women who will perform the Haj without a “Mahram” (male companion).

This is the largest ever contingent of women proceeding on Haj alone, not accompanied by men, the ministry said in a statement.

The applications received over and above the Haj quota have been finalised through an online randomised digital selection (ORDS) process, without any human intervention, it added.

For the first time, the list of selected and waitlisted applicants was published on the official portal immediately after the selection process in the interest of increased transparency, the statement said.

All 1.4 lakh selected pilgrims have been sent a text message with the information of their selection for Haj 2023. A text message has also been sent to the waitlisted applicants, informing them about their position on the list, the statement said.

JKBOSE Released Practical Centre Notice/Datesheet For Class 12th Annual Regular 2023

The ministry has partnered with the SBI to make special arrangements to provide foreign exchange to the pilgrims.

Unlike previous years, when each pilgrim was given 2,100 Saudi riyals by the Haj Committee of India in lieu of Indian currency, irrespective of his actual requirements, the Haj Policy 2023 gives the option to the pilgrims to arrange their own foreign currency or take a lesser amount of foreign exchange, according to their requirements.

The government has collaborated with the SBI to ensure the supply of foreign exchange to the pilgrims at the most competitive rates, the statement said.

JKBOSE: Important Notice For Classes 10th, 11th And 12th Annual (Regular) Examination 2023

With more than 22,000 branches across the country, the SBI shall facilitate providing foreign exchange and the mandatory insurance to all the pilgrims to meet their requirements during their stay in Saudi Arabia.

The bank will reach out to the pilgrims through text messages, the ministry said. The facility of a forex card is also being provided to the pilgrims, eliminating the possibility of theft or loss of physical currency, it added.
In case the card is lost during the pilgrimage, the pilgrim can get his money refunded from the bank.

An official said the government’s aim is to support a “cashless Haj” to make it convenient for the pilgrims. The SBI will also set up stalls at all the embarkation points with dedicated nodal officers of an appropriate level to help the pilgrims collect the foreign exchange in cash or through the forex card and also to provide any guidance and assistance as may be required.
A helpline shall be operated by the SBI and the contact details of these nodal officers will be made public soon, the statement said.

For the present year, a quota of 1,75,025 Haj pilgrims has been allotted to India. The first flight for the pilgrimage from India will take off on May 21. The annual pilgrimage will take place around June end. (PTI)

  • Kupwara Murder: More Details Emerge

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Days after the throat slit body of an eight year old girl was found in a village in Lolab area of Kupwara district, police on Monday said that the father of the minor committed the heinous crime and has been arrested.

Addressing a press conference, SSP Kupwara said that while carrying out the investigation and corroborating the evidences they zeroed in on the family and the father of the girl, was the prime suspect.

SSP Kupwara Yougal Manhas, said that M Iqbal Katana, who is the father of the minor, has emerged as the prime suspect in the case.

Iqbal Khatana, a driver by profession as per police after cross questioning confessed to the crime and said that he killed his daughter in a fit of rage after having an argument with his wife.

SSP further said on March 29 Iqbal had  an argument with his wife, who even slapped him. Iqbal  left his home in anger and took a knife along with him. He left home stating that he is going to fix his car tyre.’

As per police, Iqbal left home to vent out his anger and end his life. He was followed by his minor daughter.

“Iqbal gave her 10 rupees but she still kept following him and sat in the car with him. As the streets were deserted because of iftaar time, Iqbal parked his car at an isolated place and in a fit of rage choked his daughters throat first. Soon he realized about the gravity of the situation and thought of concealing the crime,’ SSP Kupwara said.

To mislead police and frame someone else for the crime he slit the throat of the minor and dumped her body near a shed.

“He went back to his home and on being asked about the girl’s whereabouts he feigned ignorance and filed a missing report in a police station,” SSP said.

In the mean time Iqbal’s wife accompanied by the villagers found the body dumped near shed and soon mosques started reverberating with announcements of the same.

SSP Kupwara further stated that father of the minor is the only accused who so far has emerged out in this case and the weapon used to commit crime has also been recovered. M Iqbal Khatana is under police custody and we will proceed further legally.

Earlier, the family had said that their daughter ventured out from her home to go to a shop to buy something.

However, till late in the evening, she couldn’t reach home, following which the family members launched widespread searches to find her , and later her throat slit body was found by her mother near a shed at their home.

Srinagar Lawyer Seeks Details Of Amount Spent On Conman’s Perks

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Aamir Masoodi, a lawyer from Srinagar, has submitted a request under the Right to Information Act (RTI) to the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir. The application seeks disclosure of the total expenditure incurred on accommodation, transportation, and other expenses for the alleged fraudster from Gujarat, Kiran Patel.

Masoodi has also asked for information about the department responsible for covering the expenses during Patel Kiran Bhai’s previous two visits to the Kashmir valley before his arrest last month. The RTI application comes amid growing interest and speculation regarding the case, as authorities investigate the extent of Patel Kiran Bhai’s alleged fraudulent activities in the region.

In another development, a resident of Rambagh in Srinagar has filed a complaint with the court, seeking an FIR against Patel for allegedly defrauding him of Rs. 18 lakhs as share amount in a company. The complaint, filed through advocate Masoodi, states that Patel, who identified himself as Chetan Prakash from Begumpur in North West Delhi and the managing partner of a company dealing in areca nuts, convinced the complainant to invest in the said company. The resident of Rambagh alleged that he paid Rs. 18 lakhs in various installments after interacting with Patel at Pratap Park in Srinagar and at a restaurant in the city last year.

On last Wednesday, the government ordered an inquiry into the visits of “Kiran Patel,” who posed as a PMO official and enjoyed five-star treatment for a significant amount of time before being arrested for his fraudulent activities. The Divisional Commissioner of Srinagar is conducting the investigation and is required to submit a report within a week. It’s worth noting that Patel was on his third visit to the Kashmir Valley when he was caught by security officials at a five-star hotel in the Nishat area of Srinagar on March 2.

As per the police report, Patel has prima facie forged and manufactured some documents including some visiting cards on the basis of which he has defrauded not only a single or group of person but “extremely elevated class of the society including high officials of the civil administration and police authorities.” At the end of the day, the police said, Patel succeeded in getting Z Category Security, bullet proof vehicle and enjoyed five star protocol “brazenly” for a considerable period of time. • Under RTI Act, Advocate seeks details of officials, meetings, expenditure spent on fake PMO official in Kashmir

    [ad_1]

Srinagar, Apr 01: An Advocate from Srinagar has filed an application under RTI Act to seek details about expenditure spent on trips, accommodation and security of Gujarat man who impersonated as PMO official.

As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the applicant has further sought details of the officials who held “official meetings” with conman; name of departments which spent “public money” on his transportation and accommodation.

As reported earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered an inquiry to probe into various aspects related to visits of alleged Gujarat conman, Kiran Patel to Kashmir during the past months and security arrangements made during his visit.

In his application, Advocate Aamir Masoodi has sought details of total amount spent on accommodation, transportation and other expenses of Patel on his last two visits to Kashmir.

An application addressed to Designated Information Officer in the office of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, the applicant has also sought details of concerned department who has paid the whole amount on behalf of Patel on his last two visits to Kashmir.

It further sought name of government officials posted in Kashmir who had meetings with Patel during his visits to Kashmir.

Patel was arrested by Police from a five-star hotel in Srinagar for posing as an ‘additional secretary’ in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and enjoying security cover besides other hospitality. On his arrest in Srinagar, FIR No 19 of 2023 was registered against him at Police Station Nishat for criminal intention and indulging in activities by employing high degree of forged means.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar has said they were checking the lapses in the present case and action will be taken against the officer involved.

“There was negligence on the level of a field officer and action will be taken,” Kumar said, adding that the police acted quickly against Patel when they got to know about the case.
