BRS demands disqualification of Bandi Sanjay from Parliament

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Wednesday demanded disqualification of Karimnagar Lok Sabha MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar following his arrest in 10th class paper leak case.

State ministers and other BRS leaders said Lok Sabha Speaker should take immediate action and disqualify Sanjay for committing an offence of a grave nature.

Sanjay, who is also President of BJP’s Telangana unit, was arrested by the police in Karimnagar after midnight. He will be produced in a court in Warangal later in the day.

    MS Education Academy

Sate finance minister T. Harish Rao said they were requesting Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to disqualify Sanjay.

Harish Rao described Sanjay as the mastermind in leakage of Hindi question paper of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and claimed that he has been caught red-handed.

He alleged that, unable to fight BRS politically, the BJP leader was playing with the future of children. “BJP’s politics has touched a new low. They can stoop to any level for political gains,” he said.

Harish Rao said that Prashanth who was arrested for question paper leak in Warangal on Tuesday is a BJP worker and he had sent the paper to Bandi Sanjay while the examination was still on. “This was a conspiracy to defame the government but he has been caught red-handed,” said the minister.

He pointed out that on Tuesday afternoon BJP leaders in Warangal staged a protest demanding arrests in the paper leak case but in the evening they demanded release of the accused in the case.

The minister said the accused called Bandi Sanjay several times on his mobile shared the leaked question paper widely on social media to defame the government.

The finance minister alleged that Bandi Sanjay was also behind the leakage of a Telugu question paper in Tandur on Monday. He said that the teacher who took a photo of the question paper at the exam centre and shared it on WhatsApp was a leader of the teachers’ union backed by the BJP.

Ministers Srinivas Goud, P. Ajay Kumar, several BRS MLAs and other leaders also addressed separate news conferences to demand disqualification of Sanjay from Parliament. They also demanded stringent action against him for the paper leak.

Minister K.T. Rama Rao alleged that BJP leaders were playing with the lives of innocent students and unemployed by leaking question papers for their selfish politics.

“If a madman has a stone in his hand, there is danger to passersby but if a party is in the hands of the same madman, it is a danger to democracy,” tweeted KTR, who is also working president of BRS.

  • Gujarat AAP MLA demands separate state of ‘Bhil Pradesh’ for tribals

Gujarat AAP MLA demands separate state of ‘Bhil Pradesh’ for tribals

    [ad_1]

Rajpipla: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and tribal leader Chaitar Vasava on Tuesday raised anew the demand for a separate state of `Bhil Pradesh’ for the tribal populations in Gujarat and the three neighbouring states.

BJP MP and fellow tribal leader Mansukh Vasava, however, said that this will create “anarchy” and friction between the tribal communities and others.

“History tells us that there was a separate state called Bhil Pradesh. But after independence that state was divided and its parts were merged into different states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra,” Chaitar Vasava, first-time MLA from the Scheduled Tribes-reserved Dediapada seat in Gujarat’s Narmada district, said.

    MS Education Academy

Bharatiya Tribal Party’s founder and former MLA Chhotubhai Vasava had raised this demand in the recent past.

The AAP MLA was speaking to reporters.

There are 39 tribal-dominated districts across these four states which formed the old Bhil Pradesh, he claimed.

The Fifth Schedule of the Constitution (which has provisions regarding the administration and control of Scheduled Areas) is still applicable to these districts, Chaitar Vasava said.

A delegation headed by Chhotubhai Vasava had handed over a memorandum containing this demand to then President Pratibha Patil several years ago, he noted.

“If you continue to do injustice to the tribal people, we will definitely raise the demand for a separate Bhil Pradesh,” the young leader added.

In Kevadia, where the Statue of Unity stands, thousands of hectares of land belonging to tribal communities was given away to outsiders for various projects, he said.

“As a result, tribals of the area, who were the real owners of the land, are now reduced to working as labourers for Rs 280 per day,” said Vasava.

“Since our rights on our Jal, Jungle and Jamin (water, forest and land) are being snatched away, we are again raising this demand for a seperate Bhil Pradesh,” he said.

Tribal areas are rich in water, timber and deposits of coal as well as other minerals but they remain underdeveloped and the BJP government in Gujarat diverted the budget meant for tribal communities, he claimed.

Opposing the demand, Mansukh Vasava, BJP Member of Parliament from Bharuch, said, “This demand will create anarchy in many areas. It will also create friction between tribals and non-tribals, which will eventually affect the implementation of developmental projects in tribal areas.”

Former Dahod MP Somjibhai Damor originally started a movement for a separate state for tribals but it did not find any takers, he said.

“Other tribal leaders also tried to revive this movement afterwards but they too received lukewarm response because majority of the population does not support it,” the BJP leader said.

Instead of demanding a separate state, these leaders should draw the government’s attention to what is lacking and how schemes meant for tribals can be implemented properly, he added.

Telangana: CPI demands Dharmendra Pradhan’s dismissal for failing to fill up vacancies

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The Communist Party of India (CPI) has demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to dismiss the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan from the cabinet for his ‘irresponsible behaviour’ of ‘failing’ to fill vacancies in central universities.

CPI national secretary K Narayana, in a letter to the Prime Minister, said that Pradhan was fueling regional differences among people in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha borders by giving slogans like ‘Andhras go back’.

“The issues of people in 20 villages bordering Andhra and Odisha were yet to be solved while on the contrary, the Union Minister was trying to create tensions,” said the CPI secretary.

    MS Education Academy

“Further, there are 45 central universities, 23 IITs and 20 IIMs in the country. According to reliable sources, in these prestigious Institutions, nearly 11,050 faculty posts were lying vacant,” he added.

Deliberating on the vacancies, Narayana said, “Altogether 6,028 faculty posts in central universities, 4526 in IITs, and 496 in IIMs were lying vacant apart from thousands of non-teaching staff kept vacant.”

Stressing that ‘brain drain’ is in full swing in the country, Narayana said that educated people from India were joining as professors in many prestigious universities like Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge.

“A developing country like India needs many brilliant professors, who can prepare many administrators with technical know-how and in the field of business administration as well,” he said.

“We should concentrate on permanently filling up faculty vacancies from time to time to put brakes on brain drain,” he added.

  • JKCCC Demands High-Level Investigation Into Lapse Of Funds

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Contractors Coordination Committee Chairman Ghulam Jeelani Purza, on Monday said that the families of the contractors are on verge of starvation as the pending bills of the contractors have not been released since long.

Requesting LG led administration to conduct a high level inquiry into the frequent fund lapsing, Purza said that funds are being provided by the government on time, however, the same are held by departments for no reason and are provided to the DDOs in the last days of March resulting in fund lapse.

Purza said that this year also funds lapsed and the government officials were responsible for the same. Government should come to the rescue of the contractors and investigation at higher levels should be conducted.

JKCCC Chairman further said, “Government promised us that the money of all the contractors would be released, but the due money has not been released yet. Our money is stuck in R&B, PHE and other departments. For last three years, we have been running around government institutions. Our bills are pending from last many years, and should be settled immediately so that we will get some relief”.

He said that contractors are being harassed in the name of NOC and 345 contractors have been blacklisted. They are asked to bring verification from CID and NOC from police which ultimately makes their families suffer.

Government had made a policy for the rehabilitation of youth under various schemes and one such scheme was provision of contract cards to them. Some were hired as temporary employees and some were given loans. It was provided and invested in business so that the youth could earn their livelihood.

We hope our grievances are redressed at the earliest so that our families won’t have to suffer.

Telangana BJP demands resignation of Edu Min over SSC question paper leak

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Telangana state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday demanded the resignation of state education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy for the alleged question paper leak of Class 10 examination in Vikarabad.

Reacting strongly to the reports of the question paper leak of Telugu subject in Class 10 examinations, Sanjay, in a statement, charged the Telangana government of failing to conduct even Class 10 examinations in a fool-proof manner without giving scope for any leakage of question papers.

Holding the K Chandrasekhar Rao government responsible for the question paper leak, he said it was unfortunate that such leakage of question papers had become routine during the KCR regime.

    MS Education Academy

“It is shameful on the part of the KCR government to continue despite the fact that it cannot conduct even Class 10 examinations properly, which proved to be a curse for the students,” he said.

Sanjay also alleged that the state government was deliberately indulging in the leakage of question papers to benefit some corporate and private schools. “It has miserably failed to control the usage of technology for question paper leakage,” he said.

He said, “The students were already under tremendous stress on writing the examination covering the entire syllabus and the leakage of question papers would add to their stress further. Such thoughtless decisions will put the lives of students in jeopardy.”

Demanding that the government should discuss with the legal experts and do justice to the students on the question paper leakage, Sanjay asked the government to see that at least the remaining examinations were held in a fool-proof manner in a peaceful atmosphere.

“I request the students not to feel stressed out but write the examinations with a cool mind,” he added.

  • BSP leader demands President’s intervention in TSPSC paper leak case

BSP leader demands President’s intervention in TSPSC paper leak case

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) Telangana President R.S. Praveen Kumar has written to President Droupadi Murmu, seeking her intervention to replace Chairman and members of Telangana State Public Service commission (TSPSC) which has been rocked by a question paper leak.

Praveen Kumar, a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has also requested the her to order a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the question paper leak scandal.

He argued that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the state government is not at all competent to investigate such a serious scandal. Not much can be expected from the SIT which reports to the Chief Minister whose office itself is under the cloud of suspicion, he wrote.

    MS Education Academy

The press briefing by the Chief Minister’s son K.T. Rama Rao on behalf of the TSPSC and SIT is further adding strength to the suspicion that SIT is formed by the government only to save the actual perpetrators who are holding high offices from prosecution and punish only the small fry and give the case unceremonious burial, he alleged. This is precisely the reason why the BSP is requesting for an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has a proven track record of successfully investigating such scandals in the country since independence, he added.

He also wrote that the future of lakhs of job aspirants is at stake now with the ongoing scandalous paper leakage/selling of the prestigious Group-I, AEE, AE and 15 other examinations notified by the TSPSC in the last several years.

“It’s a matter of shame on the part of the TSPSC which is constituted under Article 315 of the Constitution to indulge in such illegal and criminal activities with active collusion of the ruling party,” he said.

The entire affairs of TSPSC exams ended up as a scandal of gigantic proportions, where most of the question papers with master answer keys were leaked to the insiders and their relatives working in the commission for several years. This spine-chilling episode has compromised the integrity of the selection process and caused immense harm to the aspirations of millions of job seekers, reads the letter.

Stating that the TSPSC, which is the prime accused in this scandal, is going ahead with recruitment schedules at the behest of the government, he demanded that TSPSC Chairman and members be replaced with most competent and reputed persons.

“An independent inquiry by the CBI is not only crucial but also urgent, because there is very chance that critical evidence that can nail prime accused may either be destroyed or the lives of suspects who have been arrested so far will be endangered as they hold the crucial secrets of the unholy nexus among the ruling party, the CMO and the commission,” Praveen Kumar claimed.

He demanded that all recent TSPSC examinations be reconducted, all upcoming ones be postponed until the Commission is completely overhauled, the recruitment process is thoroughly insulated from extraneous influences and all guilty are made to feel the full weight of law.

He also demanded that the entire functioning of the TSPSC may thoroughly be probed into by a sitting Supreme Court judge to avoid such serious embarrassment in future.

NC Demands Restoration Of Democracy In JK, Criticizes Centre’s Inaction

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: National Conference Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq on Saturday expressed disappointment at the apathy of the central government in restoring democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking to the media at the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Tanvir said that the long-standing undemocratic rule has increased the hardships of the people.

“Recently, even the CEC had acknowledged the deepening void in J&K due to the lingering undemocratic rule. If he is aware of this fact, then why aren’t elections being held? They have been citing one excuse after another – first it was security, then it was weather, and then the run-up preparations for the election process. Now, when the weather is clear and the situation is admittedly normal, not holding the polls despite the ECI nod indicates that the BJP is afraid of the polls,” he said.

“We had an impression that the Election Commission doesn’t want to have polls in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added, saying, “When our representatives asked the Chief Election Commissioner why the ECI wasn’t holding the polls in J&K, the visiting delegation members were told that the commission has completed the delimitation exercise, the voter list is also prepared, polling booths are also identified, and election staff is also prepared, and that ECI is waiting for two things – weather and security clearance. It had made it clear to the delegation members that they were only waiting for weather and security. What holds them now from going with the exercise? Security, we are being told, has improved significantly, and the weather is clear.”

Sadiq contended that any further delay in the restoration of an elected legislator in J&K will make the democratic recovery of the beleaguered region unattainable. “The new model in place in Jammu and Kashmir is bereft of democratic moorings with no say of locals including Dogras, Kashmiris, Paharis, Gujjars in the decision-making process. Consequences of denying democratic rights to people would not augur well for the prized freedom, stability, and strength of our country. It will put the entire region on the path of terminal alienation,” he added. (GNS)

  • Parliament logjam continues as BJP, opposition persist with their demands

Parliament logjam continues as BJP, opposition persist with their demands

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The logjam in parliament extended to the sixth successive day on Monday with the treasury benches and the government sticking to their stands.

The parliament has not been able to conduct any substantial business since the start of second part of the budget session on March 13 with the BJP seeking apology from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in the United Kingdom and several opposition parties seeking Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the Hindenburg-Adani row.

Members from the treasury benches and opposition resorted to slogneering over their demands with both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha seeing similar scenes.

The two Houses were first adjourned till 2 pm and then for the day.

When the Lok Sabha met on the sixth day of the second leg of the budget session, opposition members came near the Speaker’s podium over their demand on Adani issue.

Speaker Om Birla said he will allow members to speak within rules after the question hour.

He said the members from the opposition and treasury benches can come to his chamber to find a solution to the impasse.

Birla said that people want the Parliament to function. As the din continued, he adjourned the House till 2 pm.

The BJP and Congress leaders continued their barbs at each other outside the parliament.

Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri attacked Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in UK, the Congress leader said that criticism of the Prime Minister or his government is in no way an “attack on India”.

Puri, who held a press conference, said if any individual goes outside the country he has the freedom to speak but along with that freedom comes a sense of responsibility.

“We are the world’s oldest democracy but Mr Gandhi goes to UK and says Indian democracy is facing an attack on the basic structure.”

The Union minister said Rahul Gandhi should apologise for his remarks.

He also hit back at the Congress, saying that it was under the Indira Gandhi regime that civil liberties were curbed.

“His (Rahul Gandh’s) grandmother invoked Article 356, 150 times to suspend and dismiss legitimately elected state governments,” Puri said.

In his remarks at Cambridge University in the UK, Gandhi had said that everybody knows and it’s been in the news a lot that Indian democracy “is under pressure and under attack”.

“I am an Opposition leader in India, we are navigating that (Opposition) space. The institutional framework which is required for a democratic Parliament, free press, the judiciary, just the idea of mobilisation, moving around all are getting constrained. So, we are facing an attack on the basic structure of Indian democracy,” he had said.

Rahul Gandhi, who was in his constituency Wayanad on Monday, hit back at the Bharatiya Janata Party over its persistent attack for remarks in the UK,

“Now, there is confusion in the minds of the PM, BJP and RSS. They are under the impression that they are India. The PM is an Indian and not India. No way an attack on the PM, BJP or RSS is an attack on India. But by attacking independent institutions of India, they’re attacking India. And I won’t stop saying this,” Gandhi said at a public meeting.

He lashed out at the Centre over the Delhi Police notice to him in regard to his speech in the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir, and said that he will “fight for the truth”.

“I am not scared of BJP, RSS or Police. No matter how many cases are filed against me or how many times you send the police to my home and insult me, I will still fight for the truth. Those who always lie won’t be able to understand honest people,” he said.

“I understand that farmers are facing huge difficulties not just in Wayanad but in the whole country. The central and state governments are also trying to displace farmers in the name of environmental protection. I am always ready to help the farmers,” Gandhi added.

The budget session will conclude on April 6.

Mehbooba Visits Budgam, Demands Capital Punishment For Accused

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Former chief minister and the president of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday visited the Soibug area in central Kashmir’s Budgam district to express condolences to the family of a 30-year-old woman who was brutally murdered a week ago.

Mufti while expressing grief and outrage over the incident said, “This is a heart-wrenching incident, I have no words to express my grief. The entire area has been horrified. The police have done a great job and I hope the case will be fast tracked,” she said, adding that the culprit should hanged so that this kind of incident is it not repeated again.

Raising concerns about the rising violence against women, she said, “There has been a lot of violence against women, and it is high time to act so as to prevent things from getting worse.”

Mufti also raised the issue of domestic violence, which has prompted some women to commit suicide. “Domestic violence occurs in our households as well, and some women have killed themselves out of fear. Why are women killed so often? Why was this young woman killed?” she asked while urging the police to “act quickly to provide justice to the family.” (KNO)

Act against trolls targeting CJI Chandrachud, demands Maha Congress

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: The Congress’ Maharashtra unit on Friday demanded that the government should take action against the “army of trolls” who have targeted Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud.

State Congress President Nana Patole said that there is no limit to the appetite of the “power-hungry” Bharatiya Janata Party and to what lengths they went from Maharashtra to Gujarat to Guwahati — and how the former Governor misused his position — to overthrow the Maha Vikas Aghadi government last year.

“Everyone knows who has set up the army of trolls… Based on certain observations of the CJI during the Supreme Court hearing pertaining to the Maharashtra power struggle, some people are apprehending that the decision could go against them. So they have started trolling even the CJI,” Patole said sharply.

He said that the Congress MPs have also approached the President seeking action in the matter of trolling of the CJI for the questions he and other judges asked or their observations during the hearings.

“This is a serious issue… The Congress MP have urged the President to take cognizance as nobody has faith in the BJP government at the Centre,” said Patole.

He said there are all kinds of rumours, wild speculation, restlessness, and anxiety indicating that the state government may collapse anytime.

“We have full faith in the judiciary and await the apex court’s verdict,” Patole said.
