Modi govt wants to suppress Kejriwal’s voice: Atishi on CBI’ssummon to Delhi CM

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: After the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the ongoing probe into the excise policy of the national capital, Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi on Saturday said that the Centre wants to suppress Kejriwal’s voice as he is vocal against the Modi government.

Addressing the mediapersons, Atishi said, “CBI has summoned the Delhi CM tomorrow. Why is he being called for an inquiry? Were crores of rupees found in Kejriwal’s house?… Gold biscuits were found. The central agencies have not been able to keep evidence against a single AAP leader or MLA. Now, these investigating agencies are calling Arvind Kejriwal because they want to suppress Kejriwal’s voice.”

Today the leader, who is raising his voice against the Centre and the Prime Minister is Arvind Kejriwal, she said.

Atishi further said, “It has been almost 10 years since Modi ji ran the government. They speak about reducing inflation. But the prices of everything have increased. Only Arvind Kejriwal has been raising his voice against it.”

The Delhi Minister said there are no jobs and over 5 crore youth are unemployed. She further said around 22 crore people are malnourished in the country. And only Kejriwal, she said has been raising these issues.

“The question is where the country’s money is going. After Modi ji became the Prime Minister, there is a big increase in the net worth of only his special friends. Kejriwal exposes this corruption layer by layer in the assembly, which is why Modi ji wants to suppress Kejriwal’s voice,” Atishi said.

No matter how much the Centre threaten Kejriwal, AAP will continue to raise the voice of the people against corruption, Atishi said.

“AAP is not afraid if they think that they can silence Arvind Kejriwal through CBI and ED,” she added.

In a major development in the Delhi excise policy case, the CBI has summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on April 16.
AAP leaders said that Kejriwal will appear before CBI for questioning.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, a key aide of Kejriwal, is in jail over alleged irregularities in the excise policy case.

Sisodia was arrested by ED and CBI in the ongoing investigation of a case related to alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the excise policy in Delhi.

The CBI arrested Sisodia on February 26, 2023. Later on March 9, the ED arrested him, after hours of questioning at Tihar Jail.

The ED and the CBI had alleged that irregularities were committed while modifying the excise policy, undue favours were extended to licence holders, the licence fee was waived or reduced and the L-1 licence was extended without the competent authority’s approval. The beneficiaries diverted “illegal” gains to the accused officials and made false entries in their books of account to evade detection, the probe agencies said.

Kejriwal has also been summoned by the Goa Police for an alleged defacement of public property, for which he must appear for questioning on April 27. The CBI has summoned the chief minister for the first time in the case, despite the BJP’s claims that Kejriwal was the brains behind the alleged fraud.

“Victim had displayed his mobile number on his Facebook account and he received normal messages from her. On March 19, the victim received a video call from that girl’s mobile number in which she removed her clothes. Next day the victim received a call from a fraudster posing as a police officer who directed the victim to speak to another fraudster purported to be from YouTube. They extorted 11,93,000 from the victim on pretext of deleting his obscene video and not uploading it on YouTube,” the official added.

Excise policy case: Delhi HC notice to ED in AAP leader Vijay Nair’s bail plea

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) communications in-charge Vijay Nair’s bail plea in connection with the money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy scam.

Nair was only the media and communications in-charge of the AAP and had no role in the drafting, framing, or implementing of the excise policy in any manner, his counsel argued saying thatA he was being “victimised” for his political background.

After Nair’s counsel’s submissions, Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma issued notice to the ED and listed the matter for the next hearing on May 19.

    MS Education Academy

A Delhi court had, on February 16, denied bail to Nair and four others.

Observing that “allegations are quite serious”, special judge M.K. Nagpal of the Rouse Avenue Court had, apart from Nair, denied bail to Sameer Mahendru, Abhishek Boinpally, Sarath Chandra Reddy, and Benoy Babu.

He held that there is enough incriminating evidence to show the entire “modus operandi” adopted by the accused persons for the commission of offences under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

On the allegations and role of Nair, the court had said, “Though he was only the media and communication in charge of AAP, it has been revealed during the investigation of this case that he was actually representing the AAP and GNCTD in different meetings that took place with the stakeholders in liquor business at different places. His participation in the meetings in this capacity is to be viewed in light of the facts that he was residing in the official accommodation allotted to a senior Minister of the AAP and once he is even alleged to have represented himself as an OSD in the Excise Department of GNCTD and further that none from the Government or AAP officially participated in these meetings.”

2020 Delhi riots: Court acquits father-son duo of rioting, arson charges in 2 cases

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: A court here has acquitted a father-son duo of the charges of rioting and arson during the 2020 North East Delhi communal conflagration, saying there was no incriminating evidence against them.

Additional Sessions Judge Pulastya Pramachala was hearing two cases pertaining to the 2020 riots based on three complaints against Mithhan Singh and his son Jony Kumar.

According to the prosecution, the duo was part of a riotous mob that set ablaze houses, including those of the complainants, after identifying the properties of people from a particular community, in lane number 29 of Khajuri Khas on February 25.

    MS Education Academy

“…Both both accused are hereby acquitted of all the charges levelled against them in this case,” ASJ Pramachala said in the judgments passed on Monday.

In both orders, the judge noted citing prosecution witnesses that though the presence of an unlawful assembly which engaged in rioting, vandalism and arson was established, they did not identify the duo.

“Hence, it was realised that there was no incriminating evidence at all against both the accused persons, so as to seek any explanation from them,” the judge said.

The Khajuri Khas police station had filed charge sheets against the two for various offences under the Indian Penal Code, including rioting and mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc.

Delhi liquor scam: YSRCP MP’s son tried to derail probe, ED retrieves chats

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Raghav Magunta, son of YSR Congress Party MP from Andhra Pradesh’s Ongole Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, recorded false statement before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam and also destroyed crucial evidence to derail the probe, the ED has claimed in the charge sheet, a source said.

Magunta was placed under arrest on February 10 this year by the ED.

He was grilled at length and later the ED filed a second supplementary charge sheet naming him as one of the accused.

    MS Education Academy

The ED has claimed that Magunta recorded a fake statement under section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The statement pertaining to his control of Magunta Agro Farms and Pixie Enterprises.

“It was a fictitious account which he told us. We learnt it during the course of investigation. We seized his phone, but he had deleted the entire data. It was crucial evidence which he destroyed. His intention was to derail the investigation,” said the source.

Later, the ED retrieved his chats with Buchi Babu from Babu’s cell phone. The ED source said that Magunta’s chats were intact in the phone of Buchi Babu while in his own cell phone there was no data, which proved that crucial evidence was deliberately destroyed. It was a crucial chat which the ED needed to prove the duo’s guilt.

“Magunta has changed his mobile phone multiple times during the period of commission of the predicate offence and later on. Most importantly the phone containing the data of the relevant period of scam has not been found,” the ED has claimed
