Texas: 9 dead, 7 injured in shooting at US mall

Houston: Nine people were killed, including the shooter, and seven others wounded in a shooting at an outlet mall in south-central US state Texas, authorities said.
The incident took place on Saturday afternoon. The shooter, who authorities believe was acting alone, was dead at the scene, according to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office.
Allen Fire Chief Jonathan Boyd said on Saturday night that among the at least nine people sent to hospitals, “two have since died, three are in critical surgery, and four are stable.”

Local media said the wounded include a five-year-old child, Xinhua news agency reported.
The shooting occurred at the Allen Premium Outlets in a suburb about 48 km north of Dallas. Local residents told Xinhua that it is one of the largest outlet malls in the area and is usually very busy during weekends.
Joseph Gallagher, a store manager at the mall, told Xinhua that he saw rounds of bullets “bounce off the pillar in front of our store” and witnessed the gunman being shot dead with blood hitting the walls.

Woman Feared Dead After Falling Off Bridge in Ramsoo

Ramban, May 6 (GNS): A woman is feared to have died after she fell from a bridge at Ramsoo area in Ramban district this afternoon, officials said.
They told GNS that the woman was washed away by a strong water current after she fell off the Shangan bridge at Nachliana Ramsoo.
Soon after the incident, a joint rescue operation was launched by police and locals in and around the site.

JK Helicopter Crash: One Dead, Two Injured

SRINAGAR: An aviation technician was killed, and two pilots were injured after an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv with three people on board crashed following a “hard landing” in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Thursday.
“At around 11.15 am, an Army Aviation ALH Dhruv helicopter on an operational mission made a precautionary landing on the banks of the Marua River in the Kishtwar region of Jammu and Kashmir,” the Udhampur-based Northern Command said in a statement.
According to initial reports, the pilots had reported a technical fault to the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) and proceeded for a precautionary landing.
“Due to the undulating ground, undergrowth, and unprepared landing area, the helicopter apparently made a ‘hard landing’,” the officials said, adding that immediate rescue operations were launched, and Army rescue teams reached the site.
“Two pilots and a technician were on board. All three injured personnel have been evacuated to the Command Hospital, Udhampur,” the official said.
The officials further added that aviation technician CFN (Avn Tech) Pabballa Anil succumbed to injuries during treatment.
“(Avn Tech) Pabballa Anil, 30, belongs to Village Malkapur, Rajanna Sircilla, Telangana,” the officer added.
Meanwhile, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Army Commander Northern Command, and All Ranks Northern Command offer tribute to the supreme sacrifice of CFN (Avn Tech) Pabballa Anil in the line of duty during Operational flying of ALH MK III near Kishtwar, Jammu, and Kashmir.

A court of inquiry has been ordered, and further details are being ascertained, the Army said in a statement. (KNO)

CRPF Inspector Dies After Falling From Cliff In JK

SRINAGAR: An officer of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) lost his life after he fell from a cliff during an operational area domination patrol in the village of Sunderbani in the Rajouri district.
The deceased Inspector has been identified as Sunil Kumar (37), a resident of Patna and belonged to CRPF 122 Battalion. He was part of CRPF companies that have been deployed as an additional force in Rajouri and Poonch districts after the January 1 Dhangri attack, an official said.
He said that during the operational duty and long-range patrol in Mohra Larya of Bhajwal village in Sunderbani, the officer slipped from the cliff and fell into a gorge.
He was taken out of the gorge and rushed to sub-district hospital Sunderbani by other CRPF and police personnel but was declared brought dead.
The body of the deceased has been kept in civil hospital Sunderbani for medico-legal formalities and police have started legal proceedings into the matter—(KNO)

Hyderabad: 2 found dead under mysterious way in Old City

Hyderabad: Two unidentified ragpickers were found dead in a mysterious way on a roadside at Chanrayangutta in Old City, Hyderabad.
On the night of April 1 the patrolling police team in the area received a call from a local grocery store owner named Sai Krishan who informed them that a body of a man was lying on the side of the road at Keshvgiri junction.
The body had severe injuries. The identity of the victim was not known however, locals confirmed that he was a ragpicker.

At the same time, another patrolling police team received information from truck drivers regarding a body of a woman lying on the roadside at Hashamabad in Chandrayangutta. The woman’s body had received multiple stabs. Locals confirmed she too was a ragpicker.
Police investigations revealed that both bodies were aged between 30 to 35 years. “Both victims used to stay together on the streets. Investigations are underway,” said the police.

Seven teachers shot dead in Pakistan school

Islamabad: At least seven teachers were shot at a school on Thursday in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Upper Kurram Tehsil, law enforcers said, with emergency being imposed in all the hospitals of the area after the latest incident of violence in the northwestern province, media reports said.
The local police said an unidentified gunmen shot seven teachers in the staffroom of the tehsil’s high school. The teachers were in the building for performing their exam duties, The News reported.
In another incident in the same area, one teacher was killed in a moving vehicle, taking the total number of educators killed in a day to eight.

The police are searching for the killers, but they have not been able to track them down so far, The News reported.

Two Dead, Five Injured As Hotel Catches Fire In Jk

SRINAGAR: Two persons were killed and five others were injured when fire engulfed a hotel in Sanasar area of Ramban on Thursday morning, officials said.
District Magistrate Ramban has ordered a magisterial probe into the matter.
Fire broke out at in Hotel Maa Shanti in Sanasar tourist resort in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. In the incident, two people lost their lives while five people were evacuated in injured condition, the officials said
Officials said that a fire fighting operation was launched after the incident.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate Ramban has ordered an inquiry into the incident with Additional District Magistrate (Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban) as its head.

Missing Man Found Dead Under Mysterious Circumstances

SRINAGAR: A man who had been missing for the past few days was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Reasi on Wednesday.
According to a police officer, the body of Rahul Sharma, son of Ramesh Chander and a resident of Gadal Reasi, was discovered in the Sermegha area of Tehsil Bhomag in the Reasi district.
The officer further stated that legal and medical formalities have been conducted on the body and it has been handed over to the legal heirs.

Delhi: Hit-and-run leaves one dead as car drives for 3 km with victim on roof

New Delhi: A youth was killed and his cousin seriously injured in a hit-and-run case in Delhi’s high-security VIP zone.
The incident, which was captured on video by a witness, took place at the intersection of New Delhi’s Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Tolstoy Marg on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Deepanshu Verma (30) while his cousin Mukul is undergoing treatment at a hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.

Verma, who was a jewellery shop owner, is survived by his parents and a sister.
According to the witness, a car rammed into a bike and due to the impact of the collision, Mukul got thrown several feet away, while Verma landed on the car’s roof.
Shockingly, the car driver did not stop to assess the situation but sped away with the injured man still on the roof.
The man even followed the fleeing car on his scooter while recording the incident. Despite honking and shouting, the car did not stop. After driving for about 3 kilometres, the suspects dumped the injured man off the car near Delhi Gate and fled.
Verma and Mukul were rushed to hospital where Verma succumbed to his injuries.

The Delhi Police have registered a case of murder and arrested the suspects. However, the police are yet to reveal their names.
More details are awaited.
