Bajrang Dal disrupts MC Stan’s Indore show, video goes viral

    [ad_1]

Mumbai: Rapper MC Stan aka Altaf Shaikh has been ruling headlines ever since he won India’s biggest reality show Bigg Boss 16 last month. Soon after coming out of the show, Stan kick-started his all India tour and successfully performed in various cities including Hyderabad, Pune and Mumbai.

However, his Indore show on Friday, March 17 faced trouble as the event was cancelled after members of the Bajrang Dal ‘hijacked’ the stage. The right-wing activists reportedly submitted a complaint to cancel the Basti Ka Hasti concert in Indore and it was called off just an hour before it began. Watch the video shared on reddit here.

In one of the video, MC Stan can be seen leaving the venue in his car after the Bajrang Dal members created ruckus. Check it out below.

The cancellation of the concert has sparked a debate on social media, with many people including his friend Sumbul Touqeer Khan expressing their support for MC Stan and condemning the actions of the Bajrang Dal members. Some have also pointed out that this is not the first time that the group has targeted artists and performers whose work they deem to be ‘offensive’. ‘Public Stands With MC Stan’ is trending on Twitter.

‘Against Hindu culture’: Bajrang Dal stops late-night ladies’ party in Shivamogga

    [ad_1]

Bajrang Dal workers allegedly stopped a late-night ladies’ party at a hotel on Kuvempu Road on Friday evening in an act of moral policing.

The police were called to the scene to prevent any ‘untoward incidents’. After the workers objected to the party, those inside the hotel, including women, men, and a few children, came out.

“We informed the police a week ago that a ladies’ night party would be held,” Bajrang Dal leader Rajesh Gowda said, speaking to media. “Such gatherings should not be held in the Malnad region. We went with the cops and put an end to the party,” he added.

He claimed that women participating in such events is against ‘Hindu culture.’ “The Bajrang Dal would not tolerate such events in Shivamogga,” he said, objecting to the women’s attire at the party, among other things.

Telangana govt supporting ‘love jihad’: VHP, Bajrang Dal protest medico’s suicide

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday protested against Telangana Government over the death of Warangal PG medical student Dr. Preethi.

“The incompetent government’s rule is supporting rapes and love jihads. There have been many such incidents in the past and the actions of love-jihad extremists are increasing day by day with the government’s backing. Kakatiya Medical student D Preethi passed away at 9:10 PM on Sunday due to Saif. Bajrang dal condemns this incident,” said Bajrang Dal Telangana state convener Sivaramulu.

The effigy of the government was burnt at Koti Crossroads in the presence of Bajrang Dal. A protest was conducted in the Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda by VHP’s Durga Vahini, the female wing.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Monday staged a protest at Kaktiya Medical College in Warangal.

Carrying ABVP flags and raising slogans, the protestors marched towards Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) but were stopped by the police at the main gate. The protestors had an argument with the policemen, triggering tension.

The ABVP men were demanding the suspension of KMC Principal Mohan Das and Head of the Department Nagarjuna Reddy.

26-year-old Preethi, a first-year student of the postgraduate (MD) in the department of Anaesthesia, attempted suicide on February 22 allegedly by taking a lethal injection while on duty at AMGM Hospital. She succumbed at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) on Sunday night.

The police have already arrested Preethi’s senior M. A. Saif, a second-year student in the department of Anaesthesia.

Police said targeted harassment of Preethi by her senior could have driven her to commit suicide.

Police booked Saif for abetment to suicide. He was also booked under the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and Anti-Ragging Act.

Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday remarked that in the case of the Warangal Medico Preethi’s suicide, it is clearly visible that chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is in support of ‘one community’.

Sanjay was indirectly referring to the dead victim’s senior MA Saif, who belongs to the Muslim community and is the main accused in the case. Sanjay in the past had also referred to the case as a clear case of ‘love jihad’.

  • Bhiwani Killings: VHP, Bajrang Dal rally in support of accused Monu Manesar

Bhiwani Killings: VHP, Bajrang Dal rally in support of accused Monu Manesar

    [ad_1]

After cow vigilante Monu Manesar was named accused in the killing of two Muslim men from Rajasthan in Haryana, members of the right-wing organisations, VHP (Vishva Hindu Parishad) and Bajrang Dal took out a rally in his support on Saturday.

Nasir and Junaid were kidnapped, lynched and murdered allegedly by members of the Bajrang Dal, including Manesar, on suspicion of their involvement in cow slaughter, on Tuesday.

The bodies of the victims were found charred to death in a car following which a case was booked. So far, six have been detained for questioning in connection with the case.

“Jo ham se takrayega choor choor hojayega” (Those who clash with us, will be razed to dust), “Monu Bhai aagey badho hum tumharey saath hain” (Monu brother, move forward! We are with you!), “Gau rakshakoun ke samman mei, har Hindu maidan mei” (For the respect of cow vigilantes, every Hindu will step into the field) were raised in the rally.

Slogans were also raised against the Gehlot government in Rajasthan after a case was booked against the cow vigilantes in Gopalgarh on Wednesday. Aside from him, the FIR names Bajrang Dal leaders Lokesh, Rinku Saini and Srikant for kidnapping and beating Junaid and Nasir

Manesar has been an active Bajrang Dal member since 2016 and has on several occasions shared photos of himself with high-profile politicians and police officials.

He has also shared several videos of himself and other members of the Bajrang Dal brandishing guns and threatening alleged cow smugglers, several of who were seen wounded.

VHP spokespersons held press conferences in Gurgaon and stated that they would hold protests in Rajasthan’s Alwar.

They stated that the discovery of the bodies, the filing of two FIRs (abduction and murder) and the names of cow vigilantes being taken and their arrest without any evidence and investigation is absolutely wrong and a communal issue.

They have demanded that forensic evidence must be taken and a CBI probe must be initiated into the issue before the accused are arrested and alleged that they have been arrested based on “claims of a Muslim” and based on circumstantial evidence.

“We cannot expect anything from the Rajasthan government hence the CBI must be involved. They are trying to misuse this opportunity for political gains. This is against the law. We will hold Mahapanchayats to protest against this,” said a VHP leader.

Following the deaths, a family member of one of the deceased was quoted by Maktoob Media stating that Monu Manesar, along with other members had abducted Junaid and Nasir from the forests of Piruka and taken them to Barwas village in Bhiwani.

The family alleged that their SUV was stopped on Wednesday morning, on the suspicion of cow-smuggling, after hitting the vehicle and the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) team of Ferozepur-Jhirka was present there. Both the men were first severely beaten, and handed over to the Bajrang Dal team in a half-dead condition and taken to the police station. But the police refused to take them into custody after seeing their condition.

Both were then burnt alive along with the Bolero and the bodies of the duo were found on Wednesday night near Loharu village of Bhiwani.

At the same time, a claim is also being made that Junaid and Nasir were thrashed and kidnapped along with the SUV by some Bajrang Dal members from Piruka village in Bharatpur on Wednesday morning, before being burnt alive in Haryana. Police have however termed this allegation false.

  • Tur dal prices to go up as production constraints pull down supplies

Tur dal prices to go up as production constraints pull down supplies

    [ad_1]

Ahmedabad: The Tur daal (lentil or toor) market is extremely tight due to insufficient supply; imported daal will arrive soon but will have little impact on the market. Because of this, retail prices per kilogram are moving upward and are quoted in the range of Rs 130 to Rs 140.

Whether the farmers are getting a good price or not, it is difficult to say, but due to the short supply of tur daal in the mandis, be it in Latur, Solapur in Maharashtra, Karnataka, or Andhra Pradesh, prices are above the minimum support price, said Nitinbhai Vani, production manager at Rentiofood.

According to his experience, if a miller wants to buy 12 trucks of tur, he can only buy one truck, giving a clear idea of the demand-supply gap. On Friday evening, the closing price of tur in mandis was quoted at Rs 8100 per quintal.

He says that this time, one shouldn’t be shocked if the price reaches or exceeds Rs 9000 per quintal. The Union government has set the MSP at Rs 6600 per quintal.

The reason for the shortage is that farmers are gradually shifting away from the cultivation of pulses in favour of high-value cash crops. The second reason, according to Vani, is that standing crops were ruined by unseasonal rains that occurred in Maharashtra and Karnataka in October and November.

The central government is well aware that production of tur daal is expected to be around 38.9 lakh metric tons this time, down from 43.4 lakh metric tons last year. That is why the Union Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh announced in January that to meet the domestic shortfall, the government will be importing 10 lakh metric tons of lentils.

Even after this assurance, the prices are constantly moving upwards.

Tur daal production will remain 9.8% lower than last year, according to early projections from the Union Agriculture Ministry. The crop is badly damaged in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.

Imports from Sudan and Burma will begin soon, but they will have little impact on the domestic supply and prices because the quantity is in the thousands rather than lakhs of tons, according to Vrushil Patel, Director of Lakshmi Protin Products Pvt. Ltd.

As of today, the wholesale market for tur is on fire, and so the customers will have to pay more for tur dal this season, somewhere between Rs 130 and Rs 140 per kilogram, he added.

According to Patel’s ground information, this time the production of tur is comparatively low in Saurashtra, which is adding fuel to prices in the Gujarat market.

Recently, the Central government extended its zero tariff facility to imports of lentils from Australia, which will be applicable until March 2024. But the benefit of this facility will be felt only in July, when the imports start.

The government estimates 38 lakh metric tons of tur production, but the market is skeptical, and it is concerned that production will be 35 lakh metric tons this time, which is why some major players have cornered the tur stock and will exploit the market when prices reach their new peak, according to sources.

Bhiwani murder case: VHP, Bajrang Dal seek ‘fair probe’

    [ad_1]

Gurugram: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajrang Dal on Saturday submitted a memorandum to the President through the Gurugram district administration, seeking a CBI probe into the death of two Muslim men from Rajasthan whose bodies were found at a car in Haryana’s Bhiwani district.

The memorandum was accepted by ‘Naib Tehsildar’ Sushil Kumar.

“We demand a fair probe into the matter. Those named in the FIR are associated with the Bajrang Dal but whether they were involved in the crime or not is yet to be known. We also condemn the incident as extremely unfortunate and stringent action needs to be taken against those who are guilty,” Kulbhushan Bhardwaj, an advocate, said.

Criticising the Rajasthan Police, he said the name of Bajrang Dal was being dragged into the case due to “political bias”.

“The accused must be punished after ‘a fair investigation’ into the case. Two state police are involved in the case, so the matter should be investigated by an independent agency. Till the completion of the probe, no one should be nabbed,” Devender Singh, a member of VHP, said.

Rajasthan: VHP, Bajrang Dal distribute trishuls to 1,100 youth

    [ad_1]

Rajashthan’s capital Jaipur witnessed right-wing organizations like the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal distributing trishuls (tridents) to around 1,100 Hindu men which was followed by a call for Hindu Rashtra. The event was organised at Vidyadhar on Monday.

This is not the first time such events are taking place. On January 23, a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) pracharak Ishwar Lal distributed trishuls in Lohwat district of Rajasthan.

Bharat ke Andar tees hazar mandir hai jin ko todh kar unke upar kya bana die Masjide. Kitni Sankhya hai? 30,000. Bolo wapis mandir banana hai ki nahi banana hai? Ram jika toh bana diya, lekin abhi 30,000 baaki hai unko mandir banana hai. Wapis apna sthan hum ko lena hai. Aur uska naam hai Bajrang Dal. (Thirty thousand temples in India were destroyed and mosques were built on them. What is the number? 30,000. Do you want to convert them back to temples or not? We made the Ram temple, but still, 30,000 temples remain. We have to convert them into temples. We have to take back our lands)” he said in a speech.

In December 2022, a similar event was organised where trishuls were distributed and hate speech against Muslims was made. Around 500-700 people attended the event. Similar trishul distribution events were reportedly held at Balesar, Rampura, Osiyan, Dechu around Rajasthan.
