  • G-20: Security Bunkers Converted Into ‘Smart Bunkers’

    [ad_1]

SRINAGAR: Ahead of the G20 meeting, Srinagar Smart City is revamping and repairing security bunkers by converting them into “smart bunkers” at various locations.

A contractor has been assigned to construct smart bunkers at seven sites in Srinagar city. “It is part of the facelift and repair of the bunkers ahead of the G20 meeting,” he said, adding, “I have only been assigned seven sites.”

Preparations for the upcoming G20 meeting are in full swing, with authorities in the valley fast-tracking work to ensure completion before the event. The city is undergoing a makeover with newly laid footpaths and realigned roads.

Visibly, the smart bunkers consist of iron net protection with bulletproof shields inside them. The outer layer is covered with photos of tourist spots in the valley.

The task of renovating the existing security bunkers as part of beautification in the valley has been given to Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL). (KNO)

Under BJP, ‘era of political patronage’ to criminals converted into ‘era of prison’: Naqvi

    [ad_1]

Moradabad: Former Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday said under the BJP governments at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh the era of “political patronage” to criminals has been converted into an “era of prison” for such people.

Addressing public meetings here while campaigning for the urban civic bodies elections, the BJP leader said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts towards “political purification” have yielded results on the ground and the country is successfully moving forward on the path of development with dignity.

“Prime Minister Modi’s ‘mahayagya’ for political purification is the perfect solution for political pollution,” he was quoted as saying in a statement released by his office.

The BJP’s good governance has demolished the “deceit of appeasement and communal politics” with determination of development without discrimination, Naqvi said.

“Phony political vendors of votes have been isolated and people’s participation in progress has created an atmosphere of trust with development,” he said.

The BJP leader said that the Modi-Yogi governments at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh have crushed the “curse of curfew, corruption and crime”.

The era of “political patronage” to corrupt and criminals has now been converted into an era of “prison” for such people, he said.

Naqvi also urged people to demolish barriers of caste, community, region and religion and move forward on the path of inclusive empowerment.

He also listened to the 100th episode of PM’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ with people in Moradabad.

  • Gurudwara in Arunachal converted into Buddhist shrine, alleges SGPC

Gurudwara in Arunachal converted into Buddhist shrine, alleges SGPC

    [ad_1]

Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee on Saturday claimed a shrine associated with Guru Nanak Dev, the first Sikh Guru, in Arunachal Pradesh has been turned into a Buddhist shrine.

The SGPC claimed in a statement that photos shared by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on April 8 on social media made it clear that Gurdwara Guru Nanak Tapasthan in Mechuka has been converted into a Buddhist shrine.

SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami termed this alleged act “an attack on Sikhs” and said converting any religious place of one community to that of another is a direct violation of Article 25 of the Constitution.

He said Guru Nanak Dev made religious journeys to different places for the welfare of humanity, which is known as ‘Udasis’ in Sikh history. Accordingly, there is a reference to Guru Nanak Dev’s visit to Mechuka.

The SGPC president said Gurdwara Guru Nanak Tapasthan was established in memory of the Sikh guru.

Historian Colonel Dalvinder Singh Grewal made an important contribution to the development of this gurdwara and with the support of the Indian Army, it was handed over to the ‘Sangat’ in March 1987.

“But it is highly unfortunate that now a mischievous attempt has been made to destroy this memorial shrine of the first Sikh Guru. It is unfortunate that the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh after visiting this historical Sikh shrine is showing it as a Buddhist shrine. This act is going to hurt Sikh sentiments, which will be strongly opposed at all levels,” said Dhami.

He said the president, the prime minister, the home minister and the National Commission for Minorities should intervene immediately, adding he will write to them and ask for action in the matter.

Many cases related to Sikh shrines in different parts of the country are already pending and now another case has been created, he said.

“This is another example of discrimination against Sikhs, on which the government should take cognisance and move towards a solution,” he said.
