    Chhattisgarh: CRPF constable shoots himself dead in Dantewada

    Dantewada: A jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service weapon in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, police said on Sunday.

    The incident took place on Saturday night at the headquarters of the CRPF’s 195th battalion in Barsoor police station area, around 400 km away from capital Raipur, an official said.

    The jawan succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Raipur at 1.40 am on Sunday, he said.

    “Constable Gunin Das, belonging to CRPF’s 195th battalion, shot himself with an Insas rifle at his barrack in the unit. On hearing the gunshot, his colleagues rushed there and found him seriously injured,” he said.

    He was immediately taken to the unit’s hospital, from where he was shifted to Dantewada district hospital. Later, he was airlifted to Raipur and admitted to a private hospital where he died during treatment, he added.

    Das, a native of Assam, had joined the duty on Saturday after returning from leave, he said.

    “No suicide note was found at the spot and investigation is underway to ascertain the exact reason that prompted him to take the extreme step,” he added.

    The CRPF is extensively deployed in south Bastar, which comprises three districts, including Dantewada, for anti-Naxalite operations.

    Hyderabad: A sub-inspector and a police constable belonging to the Begumpet police station by the ACB slueths on charges of demanding bribe here on Tuesday.

    According to the complainant Karmpet Raghavendra, the sub-inspector D Sai Kumar had demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000/- on December 30, 2022.

    Raghavendra had requested Kumar to grant him station bail in one case. He also requested to release his seized bike.

    Kumar demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000/-. On the same day, police constable Naresh also demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000/- as well as a field deposit receipt worth Rs 5,000/- from Raghavendra.

    On January 3, Raghavendra submitted the said fixed deposit receipt to Naresh. The police constable then demanded Rs 1,000/- extra to which Raghavendra obliged.

    After a request to detect the bribe money, sub-inspector Kumar reduced the amount to Rs 12,000/-. Vexed by the constant harassment from the police officers, Raghavendra registered a complaint with the Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB). Based on audio-video electronic evidence, the two police officers were arrested.

    Further investigations are underway

    Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh State Level Police Recruitment Board on Sunday declared the results of the Andhra Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment Exam 2022.

    Out of 4,59182 candidates, only 95208 qualified in the preliminary written test, as per an official release.

    The qualified candidates should get ready for a physical fitness test, the statement said.

    The scanned OMR sheets will be available for download for three days from 10 am today to 5 pm on February 7, it added.

    Constable (Cobbler), Constable (Tailor), Constable (Washer Man), Constable (Barber), Constable (Sweeper), Constable (Mali), Constable (Khoji/Syce)(a) Matriculation (10th) pass
    (b) Must be proficient in respective trade
    Constable (Cook), Constable (Water Carrier), Constable (Waiter), Constable (Butcher)(a) Matriculation (10th) pass,
    (b) National Skills Qualification Framework level course in food  production or Kitchen from National Skill Development Corporation

    • Candidates’ age limit should be Minimum 18 years and Maximum 25 years.
