  • Raking up old tweet of mine shows Congress’s desperation: Khushbu

Raking up old tweet of mine shows Congress’s desperation: Khushbu

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Launching an all-out attack against the Congress party after an old tweet of hers on the name ‘Modi’ went viral today, actor and BJP leader Khushbu Sundar said it exposed how desperate the opposition party was.

The 2018 tweet of the National Commission for Women (NCW) member has gone viral and she has not deleted the post.

“Not only does it show how desperate they (Congress party) are, but it exposes their level of ignorance on the issue they are raking up,” she told PTI.

Sundar, also BJP national executive committee member who had quit the Congress party and joined the saffron organisation in 2020 posted a tweet in 2018 saying “…Let’s change the meaning of #Modi to corruption..suits better.”

In the wake of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification over his equating the surname Modi to “thieves” the party was quick to pick on Khushbu’s old tweet.

Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi via a Twitter post on Saturday morning, “will you make one of your disciples named Modi file a defamation case against Khushbu Sundar too?”

“I have never deleted any of the tweets on my timeline and I will not do so now,” Sundar said.

She asked “what are the Congress leaders trying to do by picking on me? Are they equating me to Rahul Gandhi?”

Explaining her 2018 tweet, Khushbu said “I was in Congress party then and I was only performing my duty as the spokesperson of the Congress. This is the language we were supposed to speak and that is exactly what I was doing. I was following the party leader. This is his language.”

Asked if she saw nothing wrong in insulting the ‘Modi’ surname, she said, “Rahul Gandhi has stooped down to the level of calling all Modis as thieves, I have only used the term ‘Corruption’. The Congress party is incapable of seeing the difference. But if they have the guts, I challenge the Congress leaders to file a case against me and I will face them legally.”

Sundar also pointed out that the Congress Party never liked her appreciating the positive steps taken by the ruling BJP. “Whether it was the Triple Talaq, Abrogation of Article 370, or the launch of the New Education Policy (NEP), the Congress party always had a problem when I tweeted appreciation,” she recalled.

An actor who has acted in over 100 films, Khushbu Sundar initially joined the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and then switched over to the Congress party before joining the BJP.

  • Congress’s Pawan Khera arrested on complaint by Assam BJP leader: Police

Congress’s Pawan Khera arrested on complaint by Assam BJP leader: Police

    [ad_1]

Guwahati: A police case was registered against senior Congress leader Pawan Khera in Dima Hasao district of Assam for his alleged remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and a team has already been sent to New Delhi for a probe, a senior officer said on Thursday.

The Congress leader was on Thursday arrested by the Assam Police after a complaint was lodged by Hen Samuel Changsan against Khera at Haflong police station.

Khera was apprehended at New Delhi airport before being released on interim bail by Supreme Court.

Dima Hasao Superintendent of Police Mayank Kumar told PTI that Changsan filed a complaint against Khera on Wednesday for his comments on PM Modi and other issues.

Changsan is a BJP leader and currently an Executive Member of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council.

“His (Khera) comments against the PM form one part of the FIR. There are other complaints also. The case was registered yesterday under several sections of the IPC,” the SP said.

Kumar said a police team has already gone to New Delhi to investigate the case.

Changsan in his complaint alleged that Khera’s remarks at a press meet on February 17 were not only “insulting, defamatory and derogatory” to Modi and his deceased father, but also “provocative” to BJP workers and the PM’s followers.

The complainant also alleged that Khera’s remarks were “a part of a wider conspiracy to degrade and destabilise our nation by defaming and disreputing the person, who is holding a high constitutional post as Prime Minister of India”.

The Congress leader also “intentionally” caused a “breach of public peace, with an intent to incite violence and disturb peace and tranquility in the society” and the statements were made to “cause public mischief”, the FIR alleged.

He said in the complaint that there is an “intent to discredit and destabilise the nation by disreputing the Prime Minister of our country which can also be seen as a part of that deep-rooted conspiracy by certain vested and interested circle of which Khera is a part”.

Reacting strongly to the police action, Assam Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah criticised the Assam Police and the ruling BJP.

“What sort of high-handedness is this? Is there any rule of law? On what grounds is this being done and under whose order?” asked the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President.

In a similar manner, Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani, an Independent MLA then, was arrested by Assam Police on April 19 last year from Palanpur in Gujarat and was brought to the border district Kokrajhar in the Northeastern state for tweeting against the Prime Minister.

As soon as he was granted bail in the case, he was immediately rearrested on April 25, 2022, in a case in Barpeta district of Assam on a complaint by a woman police officer alleging that she was assaulted by Mevani while being taken to Kokrajhar by a posse of police personnel in a vehicle from Guwahati airport.

Giving bail to the Gujarat politician, the Barpeta District and Sessions Court had pulled up the Assam Police for lodging a “false FIR” and urged the Gauhati High Court to direct the state police force to “reform itself”.

The Gauhati High Court later stayed the observations made in the Barpeta court’s bail order on Mevani.

  • All eyes on how CWC will be formed at Congress’s plenary

All eyes on how CWC will be formed at Congress’s plenary

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: The 85th plenary session of the Congress, which is being held on February 24 to 26 near Naya Raipur, will ratify the election of its President Mallikarjun Kharge, but the world outside will be watching closely how the new Congress Working Committee will be formed.

Congress leaders are wondering if the new President will hold the Congress Working Committee elections and pave the way for strong grassroots leaders to contest or will he continue with the nomination system prevailing during the presidency of his predecessor Sonia Gandhi.

The Congress has almost half the CWC members as elected and half nominated by the Congress President. However, their is a strong demand for the internal elections which was also part of the charter of demand when 23 Congress leaders wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi for visible leadership.

In Raipur the party is likely to amend the Constitution apart from holding elections, but if the majority of the AICC members authorises Kharge to constitute the new CWC their could be no elections.

Apart from the CWC elections, the AICC members will be divided into six groups and each group will discuss, debate and come out with a resolution on various issues, including politics, elections and road ahead apart from crucial issues.

However, Party General Secretary Organisation has been non-committal on the CWC elections and has said to “wait and see”.

But when he announced dates of the plenary on January 2, he has said, “CWC elections will also be held during the plenary session.”

If there is election then many senior Congress leaders are willing to throw their hat to be in the CWC, but Shashi Tharoor, who is likely to be included in the new CWC, has reiterated that he is not going to contest the Congress Working Committee (CWC) election.

“I have already said that I am not interested in an election again and hence contesting, if an election to the CWC, is held is ruled out,” Tharoor said.

Asked if he expects to be nominated, he said, “I am not expecting anything,” and when further asked, if an election to the CWC is needed, he replied, “There have always been two opinions on this issue and the Constitution is also clear on it,” said Tharoor.

The Congress working committee (CWC) has 25 members, including the party president. Twelve are nominated by the party chief and the rest 12 are elected by the AICC members.

In October, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had set up a 47-member Steering Committee, which included his predecessors Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in place of the CWC.

However, the party is planning a grand welcome to Rahul Gandhi on the completion of Bharat Jodo Yatra and the Bharat Yatris may get nominated to the AICC.

The Congress this year will be contesting major elections in big states where it is directly pitched against the BJP. Starting from Karnataka, which has more than two dozen Lok Sabha members, followed by Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, the elections hold are a test for the Congress as well as the BJP. Congress is in power in two of the election-bound states.

  • Rahul Owed Apology To People For Congress’s Himalayan Blunders In J&K: Rana

Rahul Owed Apology To People For Congress’s Himalayan Blunders In J&K: Rana

    [ad_1]

SAMBA: Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana today blamed Rahul Gandhi for failing in apologizing to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the Himalayan blunders committed by the Congress in this part of the country since 1947.

“Least to speaking about tendering apology, Rahul Gandhi took pride in being in the company of PAGD allies who have exploited Kashmiris, one way or the other, all these years,” Devender Rana told media at the side-lines of Yagya organized by Sant Sri Balak Yogeshwar Das Ji Maharaj.

Rana said that Rahul Gandhi also preferred to align with those who push for talks with Pakistan whenever the rogue neighbour perpetrated mayhem through her lackeys—be it in Dangri Rajouri or target killings of Kashmiri Pandits and the outsiders. He said the former Congress President also conveniently forgot the threats and warnings of the PAGD leaders that there will be nobody to hold Tiranga in Kashmir.

He must now thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating a situation where, not only the people of Kashmir are carrying on economic activities and daily chores freely and fearlessly, but political leaders like him freely enjoying snow in the Valley.

The Senior BJP leader said the people do not know whether Rahul Gandhi has joined the nation together or not during his just concluded so-called yatra but they have certainly watched his brazen bonding with ‘Bharat Todo’ PAGD, which stands for Pakistan, anti-national, separatist, radicalised and secessionist elements.

“No wonder, the person, who embarked on the yatra to Kashmir to understand, as he says, the feelings of the people, must be returning back as ignorant as he has been, due to lack of his understanding”, he added.

Rana said that the peace and normalcy dawning in Kashmir is result of path breaking initiatives taken by the Prime Minister for holistic development of the Valley post abrogation of Article 370, which removed all obstacles in bonding of Jammu and Kashmir with rest of the country emotionally. Unfortunately, he said, Rahul Gandhi did not clear his stand on Article 370 even at the close of his yatra.

On a question about Rahul Gandhi hoisting tricolor in Lal Chowk, Rana said this is the changed Kashmir and changed scenario in the Congress as well. In this context, he recalled the statement of the Congress General Secretary in Jammu, observing that unfurling the national flag in Kashmir is RSS legacy and said that this tradition has now inspired their young leader to follow the Sangh footsteps. Better late than never, he observed and wished Rahul Gandhi to understand the Indian ethos in its totality. That will be true repentance of the Congress for the sins committed in independent India, he added.

On the Mahayagya, Devender Rana complimented Sant Sri Balak Yogeshwar Das Ji Maharaj as a tribute to martyrs, due to valour and sacrifices of whom the nation is breathing in democratic, sovereign nation. He said the Indian Armed Forces were the most disciplined and brave forces across the world, which are capable of defending the territorial integrity with valour.

Those accompanying Rana for participating in the Mahayagya included Surinder Choudhary, Mangu Shah, Surinder Singh Gill and others.
