  • Does the SAT really always give you back taxes? We disprove the most common myths

    [ad_1]

Tax filing season is approaching and with it, the time to carefully review every detail and ensure that the information is correctly submitted to the Tax Administration Service (SAT). But what about the myths that have been created around this process? How to distinguish truth from fiction?

Myth 1: The SAT has the obligation to return the balance in favor if you present your annual declaration.

The reality is that the SAT is only obliged to make the refund if your return meets the necessary requirements for it, including the correct presentation of the information and compliance with all tax requirements.

Myth 2: If your colleague in the same salary range got paid back, you will have to get paid back too.

Each statement is unique and must be evaluated on an individual basis. Your partner may have had more deductions than you, resulting in a return in their favor. Therefore, it cannot be assumed that if someone else received a return, they will also get you.

Myth 3: You can get a credit balance without personal deductions and tuition incentives.

This is a myth that has been widely spread. The reality is that to obtain a credit balance, you need personal deductions and tuition incentives, among other options that you can apply to your return.

Myth 4: If you paid interest for a mortgage loan, the SAT will return it to you.

Although you may be able to get deductions for mortgage interest, this does not guarantee that the SAT will return the full amount you paid in interest.

Myth 5: The SAT will return the balance in favor in less than 5 days, regardless of the deadlines established by law.

The tax return process can take several weeks or even months, depending on the number of returns that the SAT has to review. Therefore, it is important not to rely on a fixed deadline and to be prepared to wait as long as it takes.

Myth 6: Changing your bank account and going back to make your annual declaration will return you twice as much.

This is a myth that can lead you to commit tax fraud. The SAT has the necessary mechanisms to detect this type of actions, and if it detects them, you could face legal consequences.

Myth 7: There is an accountant who charges cheaply and always generates a credit balance.

Hiring an accountant who promises guaranteed returns can be dangerous. Be sure to look for an experienced professional with good references.

Myth 8: If you file your return at 00:01 you will be one of the first to receive the refund.

The moment in which you present your declaration does not influence the return process. The important thing is to present the correct information and comply with all tax requirements.

Myth 9: When filing your return you will always get taxes in favor.

It depends on the information you provide on your return and the deductions you apply.

  • Anti-Encroachment Drive: Rana Exhorts Admin To Allay Fears Of Common Masses

Anti-Encroachment Drive: Rana Exhorts Admin To Allay Fears Of Common Masses

    [ad_1]

JAMMU: Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana on Monday exhorted the administration to take effective measures for allaying the fears of common masses about the ongoing anti-encroachment drive as per the clear directions of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, on the matter, saying that this will silence the vested interests who are out to exploit the situation as per their contingencies.

Addressing a delegation of the Civil Society, comprising representatives of every walk and shade of life, which met him at his residence, here this morning, Rana referred to the assurance held out by Lieutenant Governor that the poor would not be touched and said those creating unnecessary apprehensions are actually doing to camouflage their nefarious activities or to further their political interests by inciting common masses.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Arun Gupta, President Chamber of Commerce, Jammu, Sahil Ji Maharaj, Mahant Mohan Giri, Mahant Rajesh Bittu, Mahant Rajeshwar Giri, Vinay Hindu, Suhail Qazmi ,Khalid Hussain, Rajeev Gupta, Mohammad Aslam Qureshi, Choudhary Iqbal, Haji Ashraf, S. Ravinder Singh, Haji Fareed, S. Manpreet Singh, Anwar Khan and many others.

He said the administration has more than once reassured the common people not to nurture any apprehension but some elements were igniting the situation to cover up and protect their shady deals. In this misadventure, unfortunately some political elements have also jumped in to give spin after spin to the drive by claiming that only a particular community is being targeted to engineer demographic change.

These political players with vested interest have already been rejected by their core constituency in the Valley for the sins committed over the decades and now they were misadventuring in this region to cook their breads, he said.

“Let these political misadventurists understand that Jammu has immense capacity and capability to sort out its own issues unitedly and the proud Dogras– Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christians, all inclusive –need no diktat from the discredited Valley leaders,” Rana said, adding that these chameleons have inflicted lot many scars on their own innocent brethren back home and now making attempts to vitiate the atmosphere. Again they are wrong in their calculation about the wisdom of Jammu, he added.

Rana said the Jammu people are unitedly acknowledging the assurance of the administration and want a comprehensive policy on anti encroachment drive as per the commitment of the Lieutenant Governor. He said the people believe in rule of law and were unequivocally against the land mafia.

Rana cautioned the disruptive elements for taking law into their own hands, saying disturbing peace and order is not Jammu ethos. He said these elements were actually playing in the hands of vested interests and disgruntled politicians, who want disharmony and disaffection among the people. Actually these people are unnerved by the massive outreach of the visionary Prime Minister Narendra Modi to last person in the society, irrespective of caste, creed, culture, region or religion, as per his cherished agenda of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabk Vishwas, Sabka Prayàs. Spreading falsehood therefore is their only ulterior tool to create disruption in the society, he maintained.

Devender Rana complimented the delegation for rising to the occasion once àgain to fight their cause as a single entity like they are known for doing in the past. He recalled how Jammu has withstood the test of times against the evil designs of vested interests whenever attempts were made to divide them by provocative actions like desecrations or by creating communal wedge. This is actually the real strength of Jammu, he added.

Later, Devender Rana accompanied the delegation to meet the Divisional Commissioner to put their case for a Comprehensive Anti Encroachment Policy.

Governors find common cause in fighting addiction

A bipartisan panel of governors from Maryland, New Hampshire, New Mexico and North Dakota said they agreed on elements of each other’s ideas to address addiction and the fentanyl crisis, speaking Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

“That is probably going to be the nexus of real bipartisan work,” Democratic New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said to North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, a Republican, after he described treating addiction as a disease. The governors were in Washington, D.C., for the National Governors Association conference, and dealing with fentanyl was one area where they clearly found common cause.

Burgum said his state is working to make sure the war on fentanyl doesn’t become “a war on people,” contrasting his approach to the hard-line enforcement against drug offenses championed in decades past.

“If we think that the way we’re going to stop drug consumption is with with longer prison terms, or higher penalties, we’re actually just incarcerating people that have a health issue,” Burgum said.

U.S. drug overdose deaths surpassed 107,000 in 2021, setting a record and bringing the number of drug overdose deaths to more than 1 million since 2001. The number of deaths from synthetic opioids, including fentanyl, rose over the course of that year. And opioids overall accounted for more than 80,000 of those deaths.

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, a Republican, also expressed agreement with the idea of keeping the opioid reversal drug naloxone in schools, after Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, a Democrat, described Maryland’s use of the policy.

“You need access points to schools,” Sununu said to host Margaret Brennan. “Kids need to know that — that there is help there, what those systems are. Rural access to care is absolutely huge.”

Maryland, like New Jersey, Rhode Island and Washington, requires public schools to stock naloxone, also known by the brand name Narcan. Lawmakers in California are pushing to not only supply schools with the drug, but also to allow students to carry and administer it.

  • Centre should show same kind of love it has for Adani to common people: KCR

Centre should show same kind of love it has for Adani to common people: KCR

    [ad_1]

Nanded: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday demanded Adani Group’s “scam” be discussed in a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) as he targeted the Centre over the import of coal and its “love” for Adani.

He claimed the Centre is pressuring Life Insurance Corporation to make a false statement over its exposure in the Adani Group.

The Indian banking system is involved in this problem and the whole country is worried, he alleged.

Addressing a press conference in Nanded city of Maharashtra after speaking at a public rally, Rao, who heads Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), alleged the Centre is forcing states to import coal which is supplied only by Adani Group.

The import of coal is akin to “cheating” the country, and the BRS will change this scenario after coming to power, he said.

“It is my request to the Prime Minister that Adani Group is involved in such a big scam and it should be discussed in a joint parliamentary committee. Almost Rs 10 lakh crore has been evaporated,” he alleged.

“Everyone knows he (Adani) is your friend. In just two years, he became the world’s second richest person. If you are honest, set up a joint parliamentary committee. It is my demand,” Rao said.

The BRS chief claimed the Life Insurance Corporation has an exposure of Rs 80,000 crore (in Adani Group). But to mislead the country, the Centre is pressuring LIC to make a false statement that it is not in danger”.

“LIC is the world’s largest and better-performing insurance company but why the government is intervening?” he asked.

Speaking on the coal scenario, he said India has enough reserves of coal that would last for the next 120 years but the Union government is forcing states to procure imported coal, which is only supplied by the Adani group.

“The kind of love the Centre has for Adani, it should have for the people of the country,” he said.

The Adani Group is battling allegations of fraudulent transactions and share price manipulation raised by US-based activist short-seller Hindenburg Research, leading to a steep fall in the prices of its shares.

The Adani group has dismissed the charges as lies, saying it complies with all laws and disclosure requirements.

“The import of coal is cheating the country. Coal India Ltd has already stated that it has paid the required amount for the construction of a 250-km long railway track that would increase our coal production exponentially. But the Centre government is not letting it happen,” he claimed.

Rao, however, didn’t specify the railway track he was talking about.

“If we utilise all the coal fields in the country properly, we will need not have to buy a single kilogram of coal from any other country. The BRS is going to change it when it comes to power,” he said.
