Riyadh’s Karimnagar Committee – Unsung heroes serving in rain or shine

    [ad_1]

Jeddah: In a world of constant connection through social media and cell phones, many expatriates have likely found themselves still feeling disconnected from those around them. Many NRIs don’t even know the people who are from the same niegbourhoods living abroad along with them.

Connecting with compatriots from the homeland not only strengthens bonds within the community in alien land but also renders service to them in rain or shine, this is the concept of the Karimnagar Committee.

Riyadh-based Karimnagar Committee, an expatriate organization that looks after NRIs from Karimnagar town of Telangana is one of the sincere and old organizations in the Saudi capital that has been serving the needs of Karimnagar NRIs for over two decades.

    MS Education Academy

Interestingly it’s the maiden community organization of the Karimnagar NRIs not only in Saudi Arabia but the rest of the Gulf countries yet maintains a low profile and is far away from any publicity.

Karimnagar Committee as it is widely known among the NRIs hailing from the town and working primarily in Riyadh.

In fact, it was the one that facilitated employment opportunities for scores of newly arriving Karimnagar youth in search of green pastures. It imparted job orientation skills among youth before being recruited thus making it dearer to many youngsters in the town.

Only the “Karimnagar” tag is a criterion to find shared accommodation in Hara for unemployed youth of the town.

Ramzan Packs, an initiative kickstarted 20 years ago saw numerous beneficiaries from low income families in need during the holy month of Ramadan.

Karimnagar Committee holds its annual Iftar gathering in a sheer spiritual environment away from so-called leaders and officials. This is the only gathering that enthusiastic Karimnagaris come together, according to organisers.

In a joyful Ramadan atmosphere, the Karimnagar Committee held an annual Iftar party on Friday at a resort on the outskirts of Riyadh, in which it was keen on meeting all Karimnagaris as one family around Dastarkhwan or Iftar mats.

Selected pilgrims must pay Rs 81800 by April 7: Haj Committee

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: The provisionally selected Haj pilgrims must pay the first installment of Rs 81,800 by or before April 7, 2023, the Haj Committee of India (HCI) notified on Tuesday.

The Haj Committee of India’s accounts are held with SBI or UBI, and pilgrims may pay the required amount online or at any branch of that bank with a core banking system by entering the Bank Reference Number on the designated pay-in-slip on the website.

The Deposit receipt must include each cover’s distinct Bank Reference Number.

    MS Education Academy

The Haj Committee informed the provisionally chosen pilgrims that they must submit a copy of the pay-in slip, along with a medical screening and fitness certificate (format available on the website), and an original international machine-readable passport to the concerned State Haj Committee by or before April 15, 2023, after depositing the advance amount.

Thus, to avoid any delays in submitting the passports of tentatively selected pilgrims of Haj 2023 to the High Commission of India by 15 April 2023, State/UT Haj Committees must submit the pilgrims’ documentation on a daily basis.

The Haj Committee of India stated that the following payments will be determined after the finalisation of the airfare cost and other charges in Saudi Arabia, and that they would be announced shortly.

Telangana State Haj Committee chairman Mohammad Saleem stated that candidates must be permanent government workers who have already done Haj or Umrah and have a solid understanding of Haj-related activities, with preference given to those who are fluent in Arabic.

“Children must get all necessary doses of authorised Covid-19 vaccinations,” he stated.

He further stated that senior officials such as Class-A officers of the Central or State Governments or their equivalents are ineligible.

  • Delhi Haj committee seeks LG’s intervention over notice to vacate its rented premises

Delhi Haj committee seeks LG’s intervention over notice to vacate its rented premises

    [ad_1]

New Delhi: Delhi State Haj Committee chairperson Kausar Jahan on Saturday met Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena seeking his intervention regarding a notice received by it for vacating its premises rented from the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB).

The Haj committee is controlled by the BJP.

Later, in a press conference at the Delhi BJP office, Kausar, accompanied by the party’s national spokesperson Shazia Ilmi, accused the Arvind Kejriwal government of harassing the Haj committee.

    MS Education Academy

No immediate reaction was available from the DUSIB or the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to the BJP leaders’ charges.

Kausar said the DUSIB had sent a notice to the committee asking it to vacate its premises at Haj Manjil at Turkman Gate over rent dues.

Condemning the notice during the month of Ramzan and when the Haj committee is busy with preparations for the Haj pilgrimage, Kausar urged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for withdrawal of the vacation notice.

Ilmi said the notice by the Delhi government agency was shameful as it was a religious body looking after pilgrimage of Muslims.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor alleged that the DUSIB notice was an act of vendetta by the AAP government since Kausar Jahan, a BJP leader, was elected chairperson of the Haj committee.

“It is regrettable that the Kejriwal government is so callous and considers Muslims as only a vote bank and having failed to get its own party man elected as Delhi Haj Committee chairperson, it has now resorted to issuing vacation notice to the Haj committee,” Kapoor charged.

Ilmi said that the Haj committee was established in 1995 by the then chief minister of Delhi, Madan Lal Khurana, in the building located at Turkman Gate and it has been serving the Haj pilgrims for almost three decades.

She claimed that this building is a property of the DUSIB and for the last eight years when the chairperson of the Delhi State Haj Committee was a member of the Aam Aadmi Party, it did not pay the rent. The rent dues in almost a decade have accumulated to Rs 1.31 crore.

The Haj committee is a department of the Delhi government and it is astonishing that one department of the government is giving notice to another department to vacate the office building for non-payment of rent, she added.

Delhi BJP Minority Morcha president Mohammad Haroon said the way the AAP government has given a notice to the Haj committee shows that it has no respect for the Muslim community. He warned of a protest if the notice was not withdrawn by the government.

Lucknow’s Markazi Chand Committee has announced that the crescent for Ramadan 2023 has not been sighted on March 22 evening. Hence, the first fast of Ramzaan this year will be observed on March 24.

    Islamic calendar

The month of Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. The 12 months are: Muharram, Safar, Rabi’ al-Awwal, Rabi’ al Thani, Jumada al-Awwal, Juamda al-Thani, Rajab, Sha’aban, Ramadan (the month of fasting), Shawwal, Dhu al-Qadah and Dhu al-Hijjah (the month in which Muslims go for Haj – pilgrimage).

Even though the Islamic calendar has 12 months, being a lunar calendar, it is shorter than the Gregorian calendar – nearly ten days shorter, in fact. This is why Ramadan falls at a different time every year according to the Gregorian calendar.

Meanwhile, many business establishments and restaurants in Hyderabad and other cities in India completed their preparation for Ramzan.

Ramzan is observed by more than 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide. Fasting during the holy month is one of the five pillars of Islam and is obligatory for all healthy Muslims. However, young children, sick people, travellers and women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or menstruating are exempt.
