  • School Edu Deptt Kulgam orders closure of Pvt coaching institutes from 9:45 am to 4:15 pm

    [ad_1]

Srinagar, May 03: The School Education Department in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district Wednesday ordered private coaching institutes not to function during the schooling hours.

Officials of the School Education Department of the district said the orders were issued to keep the academic going smoothly.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kulgam said, “In the backdrop of complaint pouring public at large and in the interest of smooth functioning of the regular all the registered coaching centre owners are put under strict instructions to keep their coaching centres closed from 9:45 am to 4:15 pm excluding in holidays so that the class work of the students is not affected.”

It also warned the government teachers of strict actions if found practising in the private coaching institutes.

“The government employees of the Education Department are strictly advised to refrain from engaging in private coaching which is sheer violation of government orders and invites action as warranted under rules,” the CEO also.

It also said that if any negligence in this behalf is found, the department will take serious and strict actions under rules without any further notice.

Pertinently, the government in the previous academic session had announced prohibition on any activity or assignment including the private tuitions by teaching faculty of School Education Department.

The government has said that it has observed that some members of teaching faculty of School Education Department are undertaking coaching assignments in private institutions and coaching centres even during school hours in violation of Rule 10 of the Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees (Conduct) Rules, 1971 as well as Chapter (IV) Section 28 of RTE Act, 2009.”

The department in a circular issued in 2022 has also said that the Rule-10 of the Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees (Conduct) Rules, 1971 states, “No Government employee, whether on leave or active service, shall except with the previous sanction of the government engage directly or indirectly in any trade or business or undertake any other employment.”—(KNO)

  • Pakistan’s largest zoo faces permanent closure amid public outcry

Pakistan’s largest zoo faces permanent closure amid public outcry

    [ad_1]

Karachi: Pakistan’s largest zoo in the port city of Karachi is facing a permanent closure after 145 years in existence due to its “very poor” living conditions for the animals, who face ill-treatment and are not being fed properly.

The Federal and Sindh governments are mulling the closure of the Karachi Zoo, the second oldest zoo in the country, after reports of the ill-treatment of several animals, particularly a 17-year-old elephant named Nur Jehan.

Earlier, the elephant was found in poor health condition. Despite undergoing successful surgery, the mammal’s health condition has deteriorated due to months of inadequate care and treatment.

    MS Education Academy

“The living conditions are very poor and the animals are clearly not well taken care of. There have been complaints of animals not being fed properly. So, the option of shutting the zoo down is under consideration but not final as yet,” a top official in the provincial government said.

He said Federal Minister and Senator Sherry Rehman and Pakistan Peoples Party Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto had suggested closing the recreation park and the zoo.

“We are looking at moving the animals to safer places,” the official said.

The provincial government has already removed zoo Director Khalid Hashmi for his negligence and cruel behaviour towards animals, in particular Nur Jehan who is fighting for her life after falling into a concrete pond inside her small enclosure at the zoo last week.

The fall came after a team of veterinarians from a global animal welfare organisation visited the zoo and treated Nur Jehan and other animals who were sick.

Nur Jehan was one of four African elephants who were brought to Karachi in 2009. Nur Jehan and Madhubala were put in the Karachi Zoo while Malik and Sonu were taken to the Safari Park.

Numerous reports have highlighted the cruelty shown by the zookeepers and the administration of the Karachi Zoo towards the animals.

The poor living conditions of animals have raised eyebrows of the wildlife experts who are demanding that the Karachi Zoo be shut down and the animals be shifted to safer sanctuaries.

Officials at the zoo say the animals are suffering because there are no adequate funds.

“What can we do without a proper budget? The money generated is not enough to feed all the animals properly and keep the zoo neat and clean,” one official said.

Established in 1878, the Karachi Zoo was formerly known as Mahatma Gandhi Garden. It is the largest zoo in Pakistan and the second oldest zoo in the country after the Lahore Zoo.

Israel extends closure of Palestinian territories amid tensions

    [ad_1]

Jerusalem: Israel has announced that all crossing points of the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip would remain closed until Thursday for security reasons.

Entry permits to Israel for working purposes or for Ramadan prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem during the period will be canceled, Xinhua news agency reported, citing a statement issued by Israel’s Defence Minister Yoav Gallant on Saturday.

It was decided upon “an operational situation assessment” that the closure, originally planned to be lifted overnight on Saturday, will be in place until the end of the week-long Jewish holiday of Passover, according to the statement.

    MS Education Academy

Gallant also instructed the defense establishment to allocate more resources and soldiers to enforce the activities of the Israeli police.

The decision came after two deadly attacks which Israel deemed as acts of terror by Palestinians. On Friday, two British-Israeli sisters were killed and their mother seriously injured in a drive-by shooting attack in the West Bank Jordan Valley. At night, an Arab citizen of Israel rammed his car at a group of tourists at Tel Aviv’s coastal promenade, killing an Italian tourist and injuring seven others.

Tensions have been high in the region following Israeli police raids at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, triggering clashes with Palestinian worshippers, and sparking a fresh round of cross-border strikes between Israel and Gaza militants earlier this week.

Israel seized the West Bank and Gaza Strip in the 1967 Middle East war and has continued to control these territories, where Palestinians hope to establish their future state.

  • AAP demands closure of toll plazas in Karnataka, just like Punjab

AAP demands closure of toll plazas in Karnataka, just like Punjab

    [ad_1]

Bengaluru: Aam Aadmi Party’s Karnataka state communication in-charge Brijesh Kalappa on Wednesday demanded closure of toll plazas in the state, on the lines his party’s government in Punjab.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s state office, Kalappa said, “Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann are going to each toll plaza and verifying — What was in the PPP type agreement, how much money should have been collected, how much money has been collected, which toll should have been closed, and later they are taking appropriate action.”

“Eight toll plazas have been shut down since the AAP government came to power in Punjab. But in Karnataka, for the greed of commission, the toll plazas continue to function despite the expiry of the period,” he claimed.

    MS Education Academy

“Action should be taken against many toll plazas whose term has expired, including the Tumkur toll plaza where 20 years tenure has elapsed. The tolls are added burden to the people who are already troubled by the hike in petrol prices,” said Kalappa.

“We had said that the Bangalore-Mysore Expressway is not a ten-lane but a six-lane one. Later, the government also accepted this. Toll was not levied when the highway was converted from two lanes to four lanes.

“In the same way, even now when six-lanes are made from four lanes, it should have helped the common people without charging toll. It would have then made sense if the government had boasted of giving roads for free.

While the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi has opened swimming pools in government schools, swimming pools are getting created on their own on the roads developed by the BJP government,” said Kalappa.

  • Khalistan supporters force closure of Honorary Consulate of India in Brisbane: Report

Khalistan supporters force closure of Honorary Consulate of India in Brisbane: Report

    [ad_1]

Melbourne: The Honorary Consulate of India in Brisbane was forced to close down on Wednesday due to safety concerns after Khalistan supporters organised an unauthorised gathering and blocked the entry of the office, days after Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese assured India that his government will not tolerate “extreme actions.” The incident is the latest in a series of radical activities against the Indian community in Australia.

It comes days after Australian Prime Minister Albanese assured his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi that Australia won’t tolerate any extreme actions like attacks on religious places.

The Honorary Consulate located on Swann Road in the Taringa suburb of Brisbane was forced to close down after Khalistan supporters blockaded the entry.

Queensland Police says it was an unauthorised gathering, however, they were allowed to enter the consulate property and block anyone from entering it, according to The Australia Today portal.

Parvinder Singh, a resident of regional Queensland, said he took leave from his work to attend an appointment at Indian Consulate, in Brisbane.

However, Singh is left with no choice but to go back and reschedule his appointment to get his young child’s Overseas Citizen of Indian card issues sorted.

“These thugs should not be allowed to dictate how we live our life in Australia,” Singh said.

“They are threatening us when we visit Gurughar (Gurudwara) now these Khalistan supporters are entering into our daily life for worse.” “Queensland government and police need to deal with the full force of the law as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said a few days back,” Singh added.

“Australia won’t tolerate any extreme actions and attacks that took place in religious buildings, and there is no place for such action against Hindu temples,” Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said while addressing a press conference in New Delhi on March 11.

“And we will take every action through our police and also our security agencies to make sure that anyone responsible for this faces the full force of the law. We’re a tolerant multicultural nation, and there is no place in Australia for this activity,” he said.

Sarah L Gates, the Director of Hindu Human Rights based in Brisbane, said: “Indian Consulate was forced to close today due to safety concerns after Sikhs for Justice targeted them with their propaganda.” “Slogans were raised against Hindus calling them supremacists with Khalistan Zindabad,” Gates said.

A few days back, the Honorary Consulate of India in Australia’s Brisbane city was targeted by Khalistani supporters who raised the Khalistan flag at the office.

The incidents come following the vandalism of three Hindu temples in Australia by Khalistani supporters.

On January 23, the management of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple also known as the Hare Krishna Temple in Melbourne’s Albert Park found the walls of the revered temple vandalised with graffiti “Hindustan Murdabad”.

On January 16, the historic Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs, Victoria, was vandalised in a similar manner.

On January 12, the Swaminarayan temple in Melbourne was defaced by ‘anti-social elements’ with anti-India graffiti.

The Ministry of Defense reported that the airspace over St. Petersburg was closed due to exercises

The closure of the airspace over the Pulkovo airport in St. Petersburg is associated with the training of the forces of the Western zone of responsibility for air defense (AD). This was reported in the Russian Ministry of Defense on Tuesday, February 28. The agency’s message cites TASS.

The defense department indicated that on February 28, the duty forces of the Western zone of responsibility for air defense conducted a training session on interaction with civilian air traffic control authorities.

On the eve it was reported that fighter jets were raised into the sky over St. Petersburg because of an unidentified flying object.

Presumably, a suspicious object was seen 160-200 kilometers from St. Petersburg. Such information, according to Fontanka, was transferred by the Ministry of Defense through its channels to the Pulkovo airport service.

On February 28, the sky over Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg was closed due to an unidentified flying object. The city introduced the “Carpet” plan. • 1-way traffic restored on Jammu-Srinagar highway after several hours’ closure

    [ad_1]

Srinagar, Feb 14 (GNS): Single way traffic was restored on Jammu-Srinagar Highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir valley with the outside world, after remaining closed for throughout night and several hours on Tuesday morning.

A traffic police official told GNS that the single-way traffic was restored after clearance of the debris. “Firstly stranded vehicles will be cleared,” he said and urged commuters to “travel with caution.”

Intermittent shooting stones at Mehar-Cafeteria area in Ramban on highway led to closure of the highway throughout the night and till around 10 a.m., he said.

Mohita Sharma, SSP Traffic Highway, said that the authorities were clearing stranded vehicles on priority as the thoroughfare remained blocked for the entire night due to shooting stones. “LMVs from Qazigund and Udhampur to follow soon,” she said. (GNS)
