Responding to BRS leader Jagan Patimeedi’s post claiming the same, Telangana minister KT Rama Rao said that just to malign the state government, the BJP seems to have hatched a ‘conspiracy’. He asked the state DGP to investigate this matter thoroughly.

“Even by the very low standards of BJP, this is vulgarity at its worst Just to malign Telangana Govt, BJP seems to have hatched a conspiracy to destroy the lives of innocent youth I request the @TelanganaDGP Garu to enquire this matter thoroughly and bring perpetrators to justice,” he tweeted.

Raja Sekhar worked as a network administrator at TSPSC.

The accused persons P Praveen Kumar (32) Assistant Section Officer (ASO) at TSPSC, A Raja Sekhar (35), a network administrator at TSPSC, Renuka (35) a school teacher, L Dhakya (38) a technical assistant, K Rajeshwar (33), K Neelesh Nayak (28), P Gopal Nayak (29), K Srinivas (30) and K Rajendra Nayak (31) had been arrested by the Begum Bazaar police with the assistance of Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (Central) team on Monday.

Praveen, who works at TSPSC, contacted Raja Sekhar for the question paper of the Assistant Engineer (Civil) and both of them allegedly managed to get the paper from the confidential section of the TSPSC by hacking into a computer of the section officer in charge of custody of the question paper.

They allegedly transferred the 25 papers into a pen drive from the computer and later handed it over to Renuka and her husband Dhakya, who paid them Rs 5 lakh initially on March 2 and another Rs 5 lakh on March 6. Dhakya on getting the papers informed about it Rajeshwar Nayak, his relative who tried to make money, contacted Neelesh and Gopal, who were appearing for the exam, and discussed the possibility of striking a deal for the leaked exam question paper.

“After fixing the deal for Rs 13.5 lakh, Rajeshwar, and Dhakya handed over the question paper to Neelesh and Gopal who appeared for the exam. Both Srinivas, a constable working at Medchal police station, and Rajendra had helped the candidates,” DCP (Southwest) Kiran Khare said.

Proud Boys prosecutors push back on claims of misconduct after discovery of internal FBI messages

    [ad_1]

    election 2024 trump 32591

However, the defense lawyers said the filtered messages included significant and suspicious exchanges that appeared to relate to the seditious conspiracy case against their clients.

In one exchange, Miller and another agent discussed learning of defendant Zachary Rehl’s plan to take the case to trial, in part because they had reviewed messages between him and his attorney at the time, Jonathon Moseley. The defense lawyers said it appeared, on its face, to be a breach of attorney-client privilege.

The lawyers also cited several other exchanges they viewed as fishy: a message from one agent asking that his name be edited out of a report concerning a meeting with a confidential human source; an FBI agent’s opinion about the strength of the Proud Boys conspiracy case; and a message from an agent discussing an order to destroy 338 pieces of evidence in an unidentified case.

Defense attorneys said they should be permitted to grill Miller about each of these topics when the trial resumes this week. The hidden messages sparked an uproar on Thursday, when Nicholas Smith, attorney for defendant Ethan Nordean, began questioning Miller about them. Prosecutors objected and later indicated they believed there had been a “spill” of classified information in the messages — a claim the defense lawyers worried was a pretense to shut down their review. U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Kelly called the trial off for the day Friday to give the Justice Department and the defense a chance to clarify the issues.

In an 18-page filing Sunday, prosecutors went through each topic cited by the defense lawyers and suggested their claims lacked merit — and were not part of any attempt to withhold relevant evidence in the case.

The request for an edit to the report concerning the confidential human source, for example, was a “clerical” matter in which an agent who had been promoted to a supervisory role requested to be removed from the report because he was no longer handling the source — a request that was ultimately rescinded, prosecutors said. The comment from an agent about destroying evidence pertained to an unrelated “20-year-old multi codefendant trial” that had concluded long ago, the Justice Department attorneys said.

“As the Court knows, disposal of evidence is a routine part of the lifecycle of every criminal case,” the prosecutors wrote.

Prosecutors also dismissed the notion that Miller and other agents had accessed privileged attorney-client information.

“She did no such thing,” they argued, “both because any privilege was waived and, in any event, even assuming … that the email to which the other agent was referring contained privileged information, no privileged information was passed Special Agent Miller.”

The exchange between Rehl and his attorney that the agents discussed was sent between Rehl and Moseley, his former attorney, who has since been disbarred, through a jailhouse email system. That system explicitly notifies users that it is monitored and that emails between an attorney and client will “not be treated as privileged.” Prisoners are supposed to use special legal mail procedures, legal phone calls or in-person meetings to communicate confidentially with their lawyers.

“Rehl waived any privilege by knowingly using FDC-Philadelphia’s monitored email system to communicate with his attorney,” prosecutors contended.

Prosecutors also rejected efforts by defense lawyers to introduce a message from an FBI agent suggesting he harbored doubts about the strength of the conspiracy evidence in the Proud Boys case. Typically, such agent opinions are excluded, and in any case, they say Miller contradicted the doubting agent’s comment, saying: “No we can. We DEF can now.”

Kelly will decide on Monday whether to permit the attorneys for Nordean, Rehl and their three co-defendants — Enrique Tarrio, Dominic Pezzola and Joseph Biggs — to ask Miller about these topics. Prosecutors contended on Sunday that their unsuccessfully implemented decision to withhold the messages — even ones that related to the Proud Boys case — was proper. Precedents and laws, they said, required the government to turn over only materials connected to what Miller testified about on the stand, not every statement she made about the Proud Boys case in general.

Miller testified last week, after the furor erupted, that FBI headquarters compiled her messages for her, culling them from a secret-level classified system. She filtered out any messages sent from other agents and then manually removed messages she viewed as not subject to disclosure, including many about other cases. But when prosecutors packaged up the remaining messages, they appear to not have realized the filtered messages from other agents were left in the spreadsheet as “hidden.”

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jocelyn Ballantine, the supervising prosecutor on the case, told the court on Friday that the Justice Department was concerned that the hidden messages contained potential classified information, since they were drawn from the secret-level system and not fully vetted. Ballantine, in particular, was concerned that the message pertaining to destroying evidence was sent by an agent involved in “covert” activity and could reference classified information.

It’s unclear whether defense lawyers will be satisfied by the government’s responses. They’ve previously raised alarms that prosecutors would use the pretense of “classified” information to claw back damaging evidence. Prosecutors indicated on Sunday that they had removed just 80 rows of “classified or sensitive” messages from a production of nearly 12,000 rows. In addition, they suggested they had provided additional messages to help contextualize the ones cited by the defense.

Smith, one of the defense lawyers, indicated in a Sunday filing that the government had also deleted about 6,000 rows of messages it said were blank, leaving just over 5,000 for the defense to review. And he said he had inquired with prosecutors to clarify how many of the 80 substantive rows of removed messages were classified and how many were dubbed “sensitive” but not classified.

Smith said he should be allowed to cross-examine Miller on her handling of the messages in part because of her answers to a brief set of questions about them on Thursday, when she indicated that she hadn’t removed or filtered out relevant materials.

“Whether the agent gave truthful testimony about her legal obligations related to her work on this case is patently a matter of credibility,” Smith wrote.

Though cross-examination typically relates only to the substance of a witness’s direct testimony, Smith pointed out that he was also permitted to raise questions about a witness’ credibility, which he said made the handling of those messages fair game for questioning.

Prosecutors said that if the defense lawyers were allowed to question her at all about the unsuccessfully withheld messages — a step the government largely opposes — it should come during the defense’s case, set to begin within the next two weeks, not on cross-examination during the government’s case.

“The topics in question are miles outside the scope of Agent Miller’s direct testimony,” the prosecutors argued.

‘Rumours’, says Tejashwi on ED claims of Rs 600 cr ‘proceeds of crime’

    [ad_1]

Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has dubbed as “rumours” the claim of the Enforcement Directorate that proceeds of crime amounting to Rs 600 crore were detected during searches on premises owned by him and close family members.

The RJD leader, who is currently away in Delhi, also said the BJP will be left embarrassed if he made public the “panchnama” (seizure list) signed after the raids.

“Just recall, in 2007, transactions worth Rs 8,000 crore, including a mall and hundreds of land plots, were alleged,” tweeted Yadav, in an obvious reference to the land-for-hotels ‘scam’ pertaining to his father Lalu Prasad’s tenure as the railway minister.

Now facing the heat in the land-for-jobs ‘scam’ pertaining to, roughly, the same period, Yadav also recalled his name being linked to a mall seized in Gurugram, which turned out to be owned by a private company.

The RJD had threatened legal action against media outlets for “wrongly” reporting that Yadav, the party supremo’s son and heir apparent, owned the commercial establishment.

“The BJP government (at the Centre) spreading rumours again, quoting sources. It should have asked its spin doctors to first settle the account on the previous operations, before coming up with the new tale of Rs 600 crore,” Yadav said.

The ED had on Saturday said it seized “unaccounted cash” of Rs 1 crore and “detected proceeds of crime worth Rs 600 crore” after it raided RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s family in connection with a money laundering case linked to the railways land-for-jobs ‘scam’.

“Let them make public the ‘panchnama’ (seizure list) signed after the raids. If we do so on our own, think of the embarrassment that these BJP leaders will have to face,” added Yadav.

The ED had launched raids on Friday at multiple locations linked to Prasad’s family members, including that of his son Tejashwi in Delhi.

The CBI had also recently questioned Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi — former chief ministers of Bihar — in the case.

  • Nirav Modi claims he has no funds to pay UK court fines

Nirav Modi claims he has no funds to pay UK court fines

    [ad_1]

London: Nirav Modi, the fugitive diamond merchant wanted in India to stand trial on fraud and money laundering charges, has claimed that he has no funds and is resorting to borrowing money to pay the court-ordered legal costs amounting to more than 150,000 pounds.

The 52-year-old former billionaire last year lost his legal battle in the highest UK court against being extradited to India in the estimated USD 2 billion Punjab National Bank (PNB) loan scam case. But his case is now said to be “statute barred”, indicating further pending litigation.

Meanwhile, Nirav remains behind bars at Wandsworth Prison in south-west London, from where he appeared via videolink for a hearing at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court in east London on Thursday over unpaid legal costs, or fines, of 150,247 pounds ordered by the High Court in London, related to his extradition appeal proceedings.

According to officials, the magistrates at a procedural hearing for court fines granted his plea to be allowed to pay 10,000 pounds a month before a review hearing to take place in six months’ time.

On being asked how he intended to finance the monthly amount, Nirav told the court he had been borrowing money as he did not have sufficient funds because his assets had been frozen in India over the extradition proceedings.

In December last year, a two-judge bench in the Royal Courts of Justice in London refused Nirav Modi’s application for permission to appeal to the Supreme Court on suicide risk grounds and also refused his application to certify a point of law, which concluded his extradition appeal options in the UK courts.

This case may be subject to further litigation, UK Home Office sources have said, which is likely to indicate a parallel confidential political asylum appeals process.

In a final extradition appeal hearing in the case in the London High Court in November 2022, Justices Jeremy Stuart-Smith and Justice Robert Jay ruled that they were “far from satisfied that Mr Modi’s mental condition and the risk of suicide are such that it would be either unjust or oppressive to extradite him”.

Their verdict also accepted that the government of India will treat its assurances on Nirav’s medical care after being extradited and held at Barrack 12 of Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai with “appropriate seriousness”.

The dismissal of the appeal came three years after Nirav Modi was arrested in March 2019 on an extradition warrant based on Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) charges against the businessman.

There are three sets of criminal proceedings against the diamantaire in India the CBI case of fraud on the PNB which caused losses equivalent to over 700 million pounds, the ED case relating to the alleged laundering of the proceeds of that fraud and a third set of criminal proceedings involving alleged interference with evidence and witnesses in the CBI proceedings.

Then UK Home Secretary, Priti Patel, had ordered Nirav’s extradition based on Judge Sam Goozee’s Westminster Magistrates’ Court ruling in April 2021.

Trump 2020 lawyer admits misrepresenting stolen election claims

    georgia election investigation 34468

Ellis is the latest Trump attorney involved in the former president’s post-election efforts to face discipline. Rudy Giuliani had his license temporarily suspended and is awaiting a final ruling from a bar discipline proceeding in Washington, D.C. John Eastman is preparing for disciplinary proceedings in California. And Jeffrey Clark has temporarily delayed bar discipline proceedings against him in Washington while attempting to bring the fight into federal court.

But Ellis is the first attorney of the group to acknowledge she misrepresented the evidence of fraud. Among her admitted misrepresentations:

    — Ellis claimed on Nov. 13, 2020 that Hillary Clinton didn’t concede the 2016 election.

    — On Nov 20, 2020, Ellis claimed Trump’s team had evidence of a “coordinated effort in all of these states to transfer votes either from Trump to Biden, to manipulate the ballots, to count them in secret.”

    — On Nov. 30, 2020, Ellis said on Fox that Trump “won in a landslide.”

    — On Dec. 5, 2020, Ellis claimed the Trump team found 500,000 illegal votes had been cast in Arizona.

Both Ellis’ attorney and the disciplinary attorneys bringing the case against her agreed that there was no precedent for the case against Ellis — an effort to aid a sitting president’s bid to undermine confidence in the American election system.

Large noted that Ellis wasn’t Trump’s counsel of record in any lawsuits challenging the election. But he also noted that Ellis admitted her actions violated “her duty of candor to the public.”

“The parties agree that two aggravators apply — [Ellis] had a selfish motive and she engaged in a pattern of misconduct — while one factor, her lack of prior discipline, mitigates her misconduct,” Large determined.

  • Tipu Sultan razed temple to build Jama Masjid, claims Karnataka BJP

Tipu Sultan razed temple to build Jama Masjid, claims Karnataka BJP

    [ad_1]

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary C T Ravi claimed that the Jama Masjid in Srirangapatnam town of Mandya district, Karnataka is built over an ancient Anjanaya (Hanuman) temple, which was ‘razed down’ by Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan.

Addressing reporters, Ravi, flanked by senior BJP leader KS Eshwarappa, demanded an archaeological survey of the mosque in order to prove his point.

“There’s a Kote Anjaneya temple that has been turned into a Masjid. Let the archaeology department survey it. If there is any evidence of a temple then they (Congress) must accept the fact that Tipu was a fanatic, if not, we will tender an apology,” said Ravi.

The 18th-century Mysuru ruler is a constant target of the saffron party.

Last year, state chief minister Basavaraj Bommai had said that the people of the state wouldn’t forgive Congress leaders for displaying a soft corner for terrorists and for talking about Tipu Sultan in order to appease the minority vote bank. He made the remarks while addressing a Jan Sankalp Yatra that was attended by former CM B S Yediyurappa in Pandavapura.

On February 10, Ravi accused the Congress party of doing politics on the policies of Tipu Sultan. “Congress is doing politics on the policies of Tipu Sultan. We are doing politics on the policies of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar,” he said.

On February 15, Karnataka BJP president Nalin Kateel Kumar, while addressing a public rally, asked them to “kill” all “ardent followers” of Tipu Sultan.

“I ask the people here whether you offer prayers to Lord Hanuman or Tipu. Then will you send those who are ardent followers of Tipu to the forest? Think about it. Do you think Karnataka needs Hanuman devotees or descendants of Tipu? I am issuing a challenge — those who are ardent followers of Tipu should not remain alive on this fertile soil,” Kateel said.

Telangana: Dowry harassment claims life of Warangal lady constable

    [ad_1]

Hyderabad: A woman police constable, who used to counsel people in dowry harassment cases, herself fell victim to the menace in Telangana.

Nampally Mounika (26) died under suspicious circumstances at her in-laws’ house in Warangal district on Sunday but her parents alleged that she was murdered by her husband and in-laws who were harassing her for additional dowry.

Mounika was working as a police constable in Mahabubabad and was expecting a sub-inspector post.

Mounika’s in-laws informed her mother that she hanged herself and that she was being taken to MGM Hospital. When her relatives reached the hospital, they were informed that she had died.

Tension gripped the hospital mortuary where relatives of Mounika tried to attack her in-laws blaming them for her murder.

Mounika’s father Rajender alleged that her husband Sridhar, mother-in-law and brother-in-law were harassing her for more dowry.

On his complaint, police registered a case and arrested Mounika’s husband Sridhar, mother-in-law Vara Laxmi and brother-in-law Krishna Murthy.

The woman became a constable in 2014. She married Sridhar, a financer, in 2015. The couple has a daughter and a son. Since Sridhar’s brother Krishna Murthy was issueless, he had adopted Sridhar and Mounika’s daughter.

According to Mounika’s family, she had recently appeared in a written exam for a sub-inspector post.

Rajender and his wife Narsamma said she used to give counselling to many who approach police station in dowry cases but they had never imagined that their daughter herself would become a victim of dowry harassment. They alleged that she was murdered by in-laws who were trying make it appear like suicide.

Mounika’s parents alleged that her husband used to force her to transfer salary to his bank account. He and other family members were also harassing her for more dowry.

Andrew Tate denies lung cancer claims; Dubai hospital condemns medical letter leak

    [ad_1]

The controversial British-American kickboxer turned social media influencer Andrew Tate, who has been detained in Romania since December, has denied having lung cancer.

This comes after a copy of his medical file went viral on social media platforms and also came after his manager, The Sartorial Shooter took to Instagram on Friday to inform that the news was true.

Now, Tate has denied the news and called it rumours. Taking to Twitter, he said his lungs have the capacity of an “Olympic athlete”.

“I do not have cancer. My lungs contain precisely 0 smoking damage. In fact, I have an 8L lung capacity and the vital signs of an Olympic athlete,” Andrew Tate tweeted.

“There is nothing but a scar on my lung from an old battle. True warriors are scarred both inside and out,” he added.

He believes that “As one of the most influential men on the face of the planet, it is important for the good of humanity that I live as long as possible. At my current strength levels, I estimate to survive at least 5,000 more years.”

“It is important for the good of humanity that I live as long as possible. At my current strength levels, I estimate to survive for at least 5000 more years. With this in mind, I take my medical care extremely seriously,” Tate continued in a Twitter thread.

Moreover, he mentioned his health check before his arrest in Romania.

“I had a regular checkup organized in Dubai pre-detention. The doctors were extremely interested in the scar on my lung. They do not understand how I survive without treatment. They do not know the secrets of Wudan. But this battle has long passed,” the influencer concluded.

Dubai hospital condemns leak of Tate’s medical letter

In response to a leak of the letter, King’s College Hospital in London where Tate was receiving treatment said, “We confirm that the letter, which details Mr Tate’s visits at our hospital in Dubai Hills, and the Medical Centres in Dubai Marina and Jumeirah, as well as the diagnostic tests he underwent was issued by one of our family medicine practitioners Dr Ali Razzak.”

Razzak is the medical director of King’s Dubai Marina Medical Center and Tate’s primary care physician, according to the statement.

Regarding the leaked documents, the hospital “strongly condemned” it and reiterated that the leak did not happen on their end.

Tate is a British-American citizen known for his misogynistic views. He has 5.1 million Twitter followers.

  • ‘No hung Assembly in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland’, claims Assam CM

‘No hung Assembly in Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland’, claims Assam CM

    [ad_1]

Guwahati Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asserted on Tuesday that there won’t be any hung Assembly in Tripura, Nagaland or Meghalaya, contrary to what several exit polls have indicated.

Instead, the NDA will form governments with complete majority in all the three northeastern states, Sarma said while talking to mediapersons here.

The counting of votes for the three states which went to the polls this month will be taken up on Thursday.

No NDA (National Democratic Alliance) partner will form an alliance with either the Congress or the Trinamool Congress after the results are announced on Thursday, said Sarma, who is also the convenor of the North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA).

Hung legislatures are expected in Tripura and Meghalaya, according to a number of exit polls, with the NDA emerging as the dominant alliance.

However, most exit polls suggest that the BJP and its ally Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) are likely to win a second term in Nagaland.

When asked about the CM candidates for the three states, Sarma said that Tripura and Nagaland would maintain the status quo, putting an end to rumours that Tripura may undergo yet another change of leadership.

“While we are in a coalition government in Nagaland, Tripura will have a BJP Chief Minister,” Sarma said.

The Chief Minister of Meghalaya will be chosen after taking into account the number of seats BJP wins, he added.

The BJP did not form a pre-poll alliance with any of the parties in Meghalaya despite being the part of NPP-led government for the last five years.

In Nagaland and Meghalaya, the governments are currently led by the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the National People’s Party (NPP), respectively, while Tripura is at present governed by the BJP.
